    This is an excellent film. Steve Coogan and John C Reilly really do Stand and Oliver justice. I came out of the theatre with a smile on my face. Absolutely recommend this

    Steve Coogan played the part well as did John C. Reilly, the two wives and the rest of the cast. I liked the art deco scenes and the way the locations were blended in to look of the period. A calmly paced movie that kept my attention all the way through. Walked an 8 mile round trip to see it at the cinema and was well pleased with the movie.
    It took in the UK 2.5 times the box office what it did in the States. Taking worldwide $26m on a supposedly $10m budget, so it made a bit of profit, then there it the DVD's and TV rights, not a massive financial success but was definitely an artistic one. In the end it was a movie that you couldn't really make any better than what it was and as such will carry on being played in selected outlets and events for many years to come. You did well Mr Coogan you did well.

    I just saw the film on Hulu and was very surprised and impressed with the representations of the characters. I was blown away by John C Reilly in particular! A very worthwhile film to see. Just like Laurel, Lou Costello was the strength behind Abbot and Costello .

    Steve Coogan came across as humble, articulate, intelligent, committed and sincere. Compare that with interviews of (for example) Samuel Jackson and Robert De Niro, who seem incapable of stringing two words together, without either a profanity or losing track of the question.

    Excellent interview. Really well-informed interviewer who kept Steve Coogan’s, and my, interest throughout. Highly engaging.

      Agreed. But the interviewer and the director knew she was there and should have been professional enough to ask her to move. I’ve directed numerous documentaries and conducted even more interviews. You should always know what’s in your shot.

      @@geoffharper3895 Yess .. like you I've read that on Wikipedia. I also looked at the school he attended and it was 11 - 18 year olds! I've visited the Museum and his home he was born in at Ulverston and from what I gathered from it he spent most of his infanthood upto around 10 in Ulverston where is mother was from and most his relatives are! Think the Northeast part of his life came more in his teens as it was his Dad's area before moving onto Glasgow in his later teens! So you could suggest he was raised in Lancashire, Tyneside, Scotland and even Cumbria given that since devolution in 1974 and a change of boundaries Ulverston is no longer in Lancashire and now Cumbria. All is not totally clear from reading about him but I do know in his interviews he always vigoursly claimed himself to be a Lancashire lad. Even when a extremely famous American entertainer. The interviews are on RUclips. I will find them for you if you need a reference. Plus his Museum, home and theres a Statue in Ulverston not just a stature as there is in Tyneside and not in Glasgow or even Holywood.

    • @Davo-007
      @Davo-007 5 лет назад +1

      @@geoffharper3895 I've searched and just found some more literature that states he moved from Ulverston to Bishop Auckland at the age of 5 til the age of 15 before going onto Glasgow and finally the states at the age of 20!! Obviously given his grandparents and relatives would still live in Ulverston and NO doubt he still spent alot of time there growing up even after 5! I think you have to give all these places a credit in the Laurel & Hardy magic and his upbringing. .. Even Cumbria!! He never knew he was ever going to be a Cumbrian given that Part of Lancashire only changed to Cumbria nearly 10 years after his death ... I'm sure they would still want to steal some of the magic and nostalgia though. So be it! He's an absolute iconic legend where ever he was or had been at the end of the day 😘

    Steeve coogan est un immense acteur il peut tout interprétera. Il a fait revivre un des plus grand comique de tout les temps le stan laurel et il atteint la perfection physiquement et même jusqu'à la voi de stan laurel mimique l esprit vif du grand . Steeve coogan comme john c reilly qui lui aussi atteint des performances incroyable en fesant revivre le grand Oliver hardy. Les deux acteurs auraient mérités d être Oscariser pour leurs prestations. Mais Hollywood préfères Oscariser des tocquars rien que les mêmes je trouve que les oscars qui cette année la était 0 . j en revien a steeve coogan et john c reilly eux méritaient m oscar car faire revivrent deux monuments stan et Ollie étaient la logique pour tout les cinéphiles du mondes qui aiment stan et ollie qui sont encorent nos contemporains et continuent de fairent rires le mondes entiers. Encore bravo à steeve coogan et john c reilly pour l éternité.
