This is just WONDERFUL! I’m new to your channel but aside from loving your soothing voice, your courageous approach to just ALLOWING it to happen on the page. Any good watercolorist worth their salt I’ve heard say this again and again.
Always sooo satisfying to watch your fluid process, Katie! I admire so much how you're able to draw so intuitively! And the urban artwork turned out soo beautifully! ❤❤❤ P.s. gotta add the pen to my ever expanding wish list now! 😅
I picked up a Fude FP after seeing a review by Taria Dawson on her urban sketching channel. I bought it for urban sketching using Platinum Carbon Ink but haven't had a chance to practice very much yet. I absolutely love your spread, the variation in your line work is awesome and the addition of the watercolour is just perfect......a novice you definitely are not💚
I've heard so many good things about that ink! I'll be sure to look up Taria Dawson too, I love seeing urban sketches! Thank you for your lovely comment and support 🥰
exciting to watch you try out new things...and you did so great! crazy that this was your first go on urban sketching. can't wait to see how you will make this even more and more your own. thank you for sharing!
I enjoy using this one with brown ink, don’t know why I find the black too harsh. You’re doing a beautiful job despite being your first time with it! You’re so accomplished!
It's beautiful Katie! And I'm really impressed with the variation of the line Fude gives and the scratchy texture too 😍 it was already on my shop list but now it rised to the top! 🤭
I love this style, and it was great to see your take on it. Beautiful spread, and I love what you said about a little wonky-ness lending character to a piece. I 100% agree. I’ve recently been experimenting with Pilot parallel pens, which allow for different line widths from one pen. It’s quite a learning curve on top of my usual struggle to loosen up with my artwork in general. I’ve found that the waterproof ink I put in one of them doesn’t flow as well as the water soluble ink it comes with. But I think that may help me get more of an uneven sketchy style, so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise! 😆 Great video!
Thanks so much, Rachel! So nice to hear about your fountain pen experiences too. I've not heard of the Pilot parallel, it sounds interesting! I've read that some waterproof inks might clog so that could be what's happening with the flow, and something I'm going to keep my eye on with this one! But as you say, we can use it to our advantage sometimes 😄
I noticed our supplies are similar. I just got this fude pen and work in a Strathmore 500. The lines are quite scratchy and I'm struggling with wrist pain as my technique has changed while working with a FP. I need to loosen up more with these pens. Your Gansia Tambi is lovely too. Great work.
Wow absolutely love this sketch. I have been wanting to buy the Fude pen for a while I will add it to my cart now. I just bought the gansai tambi set which I can’t wait to try out more. Thanks Katie love your channel ❤
Thank you so much, Catherine! I think it's a great purchase -- it's really made me think more about linework and I'm having a lot of fun playing with this style! Thanks for watching and your support 🥰
I’m loving my Fude pen and different papers do have some bearing on how it performs. Having a variety of weight lines adds charm along with the wonkiness
@@So_saltyit depends what I’m doing but I definitely don’t recommend using Fude 55 with a Khadi paper as the pen hooks up with the paper like Velcro. Love your name…….😊 me too!
Oh that's good to hear, thank you so much! I definitely noticed a difference between sketchbooks! The lineweight variation is my favourite thing about it 😄
Love the spread, different from your usual style but still really cool 😊🩷 I haven’t tried a fountain pen before, so many people I watch use one and it looks really intriguing. Would love to try one someday. It’s really interesting hearing your thought process while trying a new medium or technique, love the way you play and just test things out 😄
The brush is size 5! Most fountain pen converters hold less ink than usual cartridges, and this one is the same. The cartridge holds more ink than the converter but the ink it comes with isn't waterproof!
Of all the fountain pens to sketch with you chose the hardest one! The Fude isn't just a fp. Try a Lamy. I'm sure you'll like it better. The Fude can be used on the side of the nib, for finer but not the finest line as you get from turning it upside down.
PS I just pulled out my Fude fountain pen that I bought years ago and never used! As of today, I’m joining the adventure!! Heartfelt thanks! 🙏🏼
Truly my pleasure, I'm so happy to have inspired you to use it! 😄
i love the expressive lines! gorgeous spread too.
Thank you so much! I'm going to explore using line in this way a bit more for some of my botanical studies this month 😄
Seeing how you tackle and explore using new art supplies is fascinating. It will be fun to see how you find your way with it going forward from here.
Thanks so much, Kanner! Me too, I want to do some more experiments and then see how it influences my other work! 😊
Great work 👏
Thank you so much 😊

Love line and wash and fp pens! Good to know about sketch ink...hopefully it doesn't clog.
I hope not -- will update here if it does 😊

Always a pleasure! Thanks so much, Paula 🥰
Love this new Style. I always use this Sketch Ink for my Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.
Thank you so much, and so good to hear that you like the ink!
Love how you managed to use the fp! Especially the vegetation. The variation of the thickness is amazing!
Thank you so much! I really like it too, it's making me fall in love with linework! 😆
those pages look wonderful! 🥰 that pen and that style really seem to suit your way of working
Thank you! It felt quite natural to me which is a good feeling! 😊
I'm new here, so blown away watching you. So fearless!
Thank you so much, Karen! Art is the one area in my life I don't overthink 😆
Katie this was lovely to watch! I love the pens. Ink and watercolor is one of my favorites

Loved this loose line and wash demo !!!

I got one of those pens a while ago…never used it tho👀
I have some art supplies like that too 🤣 But hopefully this is good inspo to have a go! 😄
What is the brush you are using? I didn’t catch if you mentioned it. Thank you
It's a mop brush! I used a size 5 here from the brand 'Artway' 🤗
What size is that brush? Also, which one takes more ink: the cartridge that came with the pen or the converter?
The brush is size 5! Most fountain pen converters hold less ink than usual cartridges, and this one is the same. The cartridge holds more ink than the converter but the ink it comes with isn't waterproof!
@@KatieMoody I'm amazed by its versatility despite its large size! Truly? I was unaware of this. Guess I learned a new thing today! Many thanks! ❤
