Thank you for showing us the difference between the two pens. It is always a joy to watch you sketch and paint as you can make the most simple objects look amazing.
Hi ..I’m also in the US and can only find the #41 for $27. Can you provide the link for the $16 Amazon price.. It is available on other sites such as Cheap Joes but shipping is almost $10.. Thank so much for your help!!!
Amazon pricing rules are ridiculous. Shop around. There are plenty of other places that will be happy to sell you authentic goods for less than Amazon and won't charge you $15 US a month to do it.
Thanks for showing the comparison between the two pens. Appreciate it. Fountain pen prices have really sky rocketed in the last couple years. Being an artist is an expensive hobby. :/
Wow, those current prices! That's how businesses ruin themselves ... people stop buying since it's no longer worth the cost. Sad. I have 4 of those pens, 2 of each. One package (recent) contained one of each for around $17 USD (backups). The other 2 I bought (year or so ago) individually for around $11 USD each. I love these pens for sketching. Nice demo
Thanks for making this video! I recently got the green Sailor pen and I'm having fun testing it out. Like you said, the lines are organic and make for interesting marks. 🙏🏼
Thank you Becky! I like to use deatramentis document ink. It is waterproof. I also have Noodler’s Lexington Grey and it is waterproof. Great video! Thank you.
Hi Becky, I bought the green pen and the Noodler’s brown, on your recommendation in another video but so happy to see the converter. I was so confused being new to this kind of pen. Works so great! You are really a favorite for me and I’m learning! Thank you.
Very nice. I've just bought the Green version and liking how smooth it is. There is a little adaptation to this pen but the versatility of it is what makes it. Your video is also entertaining with how you work. Thank You.
Hi Becky, I have this pen in pale pink. I love the little feet. I took it out a few days ago and the ink was a bit runny but not dried. I had not use it for 6 months so I was a little impressed. I have to buy the converter to use my ink. Thanks. for the demo. Maria
Turned out great! I have both fountain pens - I really enjoy using them, especially the green (55° bent nib) one. Love your work & appreciate your videos! Thank you for sharing 🙏
Becky, there are some retailers that can price Noodler's for a lot less. In fact, Midico, a stationary store, carries it for $21.95 CDN in their physical stores. I bought mine at Wonderpens in 2021 #41 Brown for $11.95 CDN on clearance.
Jet Pens has all the items too. Just checked. Great video as always. :) Thanks for the demos. I have the green one and was curious about the other one.
New to this channel. I love both of these pens but prefer the green one, I like the marks it makes. So far only used with non waterproof inks which is ok for me. That Noodlers ink is very expensive, wish it came in smaller sizes. I love your style of working. No option to subscribe, but I will look out for your content. Glad you reminded me of these pens, for some reason I have not thought about them recently, I need a dark grey ink for them.
Hi Becky, regarding the ink price. This happens a lot on Amazon. If the product is out of stock from your regular supplier then Amazon automatically directs you to a different supplier, which is usually a higher price. I just checked now and the ink in that brown is $33👍🏻 I noticed this when my usual $35 watercolour block sent me to a shop where it was $50!!! A couple of weeks later my regular supplier was back in stock and all was good 😁
@@BeckyCao I just love your videos by the way. They are so peaceful and you are so unaffected and come across as such a genuine kind hearted person. I really admire your passion for both art and life ! 💕😊
Hi, Becky, I’ve been watching your videos for several months now, and just got my Sailor Fude fountain pens and converters. I thought I’d successfully filled my pens with ink but now they don’t write very well. The navy blue one won’t write at all and the green one works but doesn’t give the same fullness (flow) of color yours does. I’m using Dr PH Martins waterproof ink. I’m new to fountain pens. I’ve taken pen apart and put back together and rinsed the nibs in hot water. Pen does seem to write with the ink that it came with it though. Just tried that out. Would you have any advice for me? Thanks so much. Cindy
Loved this video-first-time visitor. Subscribed! Great info about the pens. But I want to ask you to drop into your optometrist and get your glasses straightened because it can cause tremendous eye strain & headaches over time. I was visiting my vet with my cat 🐱 one day, and she told me my own glasses needed to be leveled! she warned me about eye strain & chronic headaches she had experienced. 😮 We sketchers need to take care of our eyes AND each other!!! ❤❤❤
Hi Becky - if you can get Rohrer & Klinger Sketch inks - they‘re waterproof and come in many colors and they are fountain pen friendly. Or Octopus Sketch and Write ink. Wonder Pens has them for 22$ Canadian for 50 ml.
Ive been watching videos of your sketches and they're so beautiful. Also the sailor fudes seem like very interesting fountain pens. Which one do you prefer between the two? The 40 or 55?
Thank You for the information about your fountain pens; how do you store them? I was recently gifted my first fountain pen , a platinum preppy, and I'm not sure how to store it until I reuse it again. At present time, I store it with the cap up. Also thanks for sharing the info about the last page can have sizing problems. 😊🌟
Hello, just in case you never received answer to your question, although I’m not Becky, I do own some fountain pens, You should store your fountain pens horizontally when you’re not using them. Also, you will soon find that it is important to always keep your pens capped when not in use. 😊
@@reneethomas1683 Thank You. That explains why the ink the fountain pen is almost not there when I stored it with the cap facing up. I have Markers, so I know to keep caps on when not in use. Thanks for sharing this information 😊🌟
On Amazon I bought the Sailor Fude De Mannen Bamboo Green for $11.60 and the Converter was $7.00. Thanks for telling us the cartridges that comes with the pen aren't waterproof ink because everything is written in Japanese.
Becky, thank you for this video. A question: Do you wash out the pen nib after you draw to remove the waterproof ink so that it doesn't build up? Is there any maintenance required?
I've been using this pen for over one year now, never cleaned it, and it works fine without any signs of clogging. :) It really depends on the type of ink you are using. The Noodler's brown #41 ink doesn't clog the pen.
That price for Noodler's ink is exorbitant. I checked 3 stores online that carry Brown # 41. A Pen Lover's Paradise, Jet Pens and Goldspot. The first two are out of stock as I write this but Goldspot has in stock for $17.00. Even if you add $10.00 for shipping you would be doing way better than that Amazon price. There are other companies in the US that carry Noodler's and the price is usually $17.00 for the 3 oz. bottle. It used to be less. Noodler's has a list of dealer's on their website although it isn't always correct. I know Goulet Pens also carries Noodler's but I didn't see Brown #41 on their website. Many places would probably carry if you ask. I would never pay $44 for a bottle of Noodler's. Maybe if you just have to have that color and it is out of stock everywhere. I even found one store in Canada that had a Selection of Noodles ink--most were out of stock but the cost was $20.00 for a 3 oz. bottle. I guess I got riled up at the Amazon price. That has to be price gouging.
It appears in the art section that you're applying watercolours immediately after your inking. Was there a cut there? Did you have to wait for this ink to dry?
I don't need to wait for the ink to dry. Painting immediately is fine, and this is only ok for the Noodler's brown #41 ink, the other colors from this brand mostly are not waterproof at all.
Hi Becky. I recently bought the blue version of this pen and converter. My question is, approximately how long between refills? In other words how fast does it use up the ink inside the converter?
There is no absolute answer. ☺️ It really depends on how big your drawings are, how much lines and solid shading areas you create with the pen. And how often you draw. For me, It takes about 2 pages of drawing on my A4 size sketchbook to refill the pen. Which is about 2-3 days. If you are using a smaller sketchbook/paper, then you get more pages done before the ink runs out, and more days.
I am always worried about using waterproof ink in fountain pens. Have you any thoughts on this? Do you thoroughly wash out the pen after every drawing session? If I use non-waterproof ink (when I'm not painting over), can I safely leave ink in the pen or would I need to wash that out too? I'd like to have a fude pen in my sketching kit I can just pick up and go out for the day, without having to fill it each time and/or wash it out asap.
I have not washed out the ink in my fude fountain pen since I started using it last year in July, about 10 months already. The Noodler's ink brown #41 I'm using is not clogging up the pen.
You can never have too many fountain pens. The Noodlers Ink creator is a bit of an unpleasant dude. Won’t be buying any of his wares. Would love to find an alternative.
Oh Becky I could watch you sketching all day long . Just simple things sketched by you looks amazing . Thank you for what you're doing
