Irish Flake is the perfect autumn to winter smoke. I love it in October, on the cold dark nights. I sit outside listen to with the leaves rustling, and smoke a bowl, the nicotine warms me up too
This comment made me order it- and I am having some right now. Such a nice serene experience-I just have to be careful not to stand up too quickly. Thanks for this comment
Glad you revisted Peterson Irish Flake. To me this is Peterson's best tobacco (not counting the Dunhill foster children). I'm glad you seemed to think they had not messed with the recipe. That anise does go into the background, perhaps numbing the mouth a tad like mentholatum. Yummy so good perhaps too good.
I've not had this one yet. I tend to go for medium nic hits but I have been known to hit a bowl of glorious 1792 flake with a good dose of espresso. Maybe I should check this one out. Also I completely get the idea of how you do these "revisited" episodes. Makes perfect sense to me.
It used to be made by Kohlhase & Kopp between 2006 and 2015 (I think). That's when they introduced their own versions of Irish Flake and University Flake.
Bradley, Bradley, Bradley! Funny that you made this video, because just yesterday I posted on some pipe Facebook pages of what is their morning blend and their opinion on Chelsea Morning. So, I'm glad I saw this video today and I will have to give Peterson a try!
Will definitely be getting some Irish flake soon. I would love to see a review of C&D Americana. I haven't found any good reviews on it yet. I'm really curious what you would think of it.
Just finished my tin of it. Nice stuff. Also, it's kinda strange why watching a video of smoking a pipe is so pleasant and soothing =) And BTW, beautiful pipe!
Hi, Bradley! Hope you're doing well! I bought a tin of "Irish Flake" and I agree with almost all your comments, but its high nicotine content is just too strong for me... So, I smoke it very rarely and after a very good meal! :D Thank you for your videos and I wish you the best! Kind regards from Montevideo, UY!
STUFFandTHINGS Thank you! You’re a very good guy, Bradley! I just checked out the Pedal channel and is too deep into the topic and I’m not truly interested in that, but I felt the kindness you were talking about, so thank you for that recommendation! Have a nice week!
I love cigars, and lat bomb pipe toby, but with dark fired pipe toby I usually cut it with something else. Also I love Stumptown coffee! Cheers from Tampa.
Sorry for the ignorance but can someone please explain what retrohaling is. Context: I've never really got the hand of pipesmoking despite doing it and enjoying it for 22 years. Thanks
Retrohailing is blowing the smoke out through your nose. You will taste different flavors. You retrohail naturally when you eat. Don’t believe me? That’s why you can’t taste food when you have a cold. Another way to think of it is to try “chewing” the smoke.
Just getting into Solani Aged Burley and I'm really enjoying it too. It's really meaty and I'll definitely pick up some Irish Flake after watching your review. Thanks!
I can't stand the stuff either, i think it's the aniseed flavouring now blake is saying it, even though i love aniseed candy. I tried offering it up for trade on a Facebook group and didn't get a hint of interest. I'll let it sit a while longer and come back to it but im not expecting much from it.
I hate liquorice. Thank goodness the tin smell does not carry through into the smoke/taste. Burly Virginia and Kentucky ... Va-bur-ucky? Vir-tucky? ;) I wanted to like this tobacco more but I am to a huge fan of dark fired kentucky.
I am smoking it now as I scribe.I have a very high nic tolerance so Irish Flake is just the ticket. For me being an old stager I prefer St Bruno and Condor.Condor is stronger than Irish Flake to me but in a different way.God knows but Sterling Flake was and is up there. All good stuff though.Jim.Liverpool.Ps.All better with Scotch.Sod the coffee or tea.
Hi Bradley. On your recommendation I tried the Elizabethan Mixture that you enjoy. I bought a tin ... smoked 2 bowls ... hated it ... smoked the rest ... love it. Now have to source some more. Thanks for the heads up.
I think Irish flake is quite bland. It is a little smoky and indeed very strong, but that's that. Put mine away for a couple of months and even after that didn't like it any better
Brother... you are my go-to pipe tobacco reviewer. Thank you for these reviews. Is it okay to smoke Burley in my Va/Per pipe? I mostly smoke English blends and have ventured out to Va/Pers.
Up to you! Some people keep dedicated pipes for certain blends. I don’t worry too much. I just wouldn’t smoke any aromatics in pipes you use for non-flavored blends.
I don't see much chatter about it which puzzles me given the whole flavor profile and mystique. The other one to not talk about is Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding Reserve...

Couldn't agree more!

My daily puff. Wish they sold it in larger quantities

Irish Flake is one of my favorites. Another excellent Revisited video.
I may have to try a tin, it sounds like all the flavors I enjoy!!

Go for it!
@@stuffandthingsyoutube DID! Picked it up Thursday night at my local (40's era) Tobacconist! More potent than I am used to, but still a good smoke.
Will definitely be getting some Irish flake soon.

Noted!
Love Irish Flake. I've enjoyed seeing the revisited videos. Keep it up.
More to come!
When I was young in the late 70's I used to buy much tobacco in the Peterson Shop in Grafton Street Dublin.
I like to think I can handle everything a baccy can throw at me...but this one knocked me on my arse
Please compare it to Rattrays sterling flake. Yours is the only reviews I trust on youtube.
Just finished my tin of it. Nice stuff. Also, it's kinda strange why watching a video of smoking a pipe is so pleasant and soothing =) And BTW, beautiful pipe!
The old stuff was made by Kohlhase and Kopp .

I wish Burley blends didn't kick my butt, because I enjoy the flavor profile as well. I might try adding an anise pod to one of my home blends for fun
Have you tried Solani's Aged Burley Flake? It's really smooth and not strong at all.
@@sebastianh.1090 I haven't but it does sound sound appealing. Thanks!
@@joshuasmith6231 It does have a light casing though. If that's not for you, I suggest you try Mac Baren's Burley Flake instead.
Awesome blend. Has a beef jerky vibe to it
I really do like this blend, but I prefer Rattrays´s Stirling flake. It should be the same mixture, but the Stirling flake seems to be more spicy.
I smoked some strong perique blend and i swore i could taste kfc?
Dude!
Nice review
Hahaha
Fantastic stuff. One of my faves. Great Review!
Thanks for watching!

@@dannyhanke4338 Ok, thanks for explaining this, I can see the reason for it now. I will have a pipe later on of Solani light flake and give it a go.
I just picked up a couple more tins. Will need to crack one open now.
The only "experience" needed here is to rub out the flake as much as possible into small pieces. Then it'll be easier to smoke.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm trying Irish Flake as I watch this review, and I have to agree with your thoughts. Its an amazing blend.
Thanks for watching!
Great Blend love it
I love it! 🎉
Everything you said bro.
I didn't dry mine and only had to re light once. Good and strong 💪
Great description! One of my favorites, also.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a tin of Irish Flake coming my way. (And a tin of Nightcap)
How does it smell !? Does it smell like cigarettes? Or can you smoke it in a room and it won’t change the smell.
Honestly to me this smells like a bottle of guiness, rich yeasty fermented smell.
Sold!
Would you say this ghosts pipes?
I appreciate your review and approach, 100%!
Like the reviews very much....makes my revisits to the blends better...thanks
Love the videos man.
Glad you like them!
Good review!
Never had this but might have to try it.
Right I’d better crack that tin open, you’ve wetted my appetite 👍
My go to DFK blend. I love it 😍
A pipe of Irish Flake paired with a good movie in the night 👌🏻
Do you add cream or sugar to your coffee? Or black
Just a hint of both.
Please review the Mac Baren HH Rustica Flake
Just getting into Solani Aged Burley and I'm really enjoying it too. It's really meaty and I'll definitely pick up some Irish Flake after watching your review. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy it!
Peterson Irish Flake is the only blend other than Haunted Bookshop that I’ve had to dump out. I couldn’t finish it.
I can't stand the stuff either, i think it's the aniseed flavouring now blake is saying it, even though i love aniseed candy.

Daniel Starbuck give it a year in a mason jar, it still gives a big nic hit if you puff too fast but it does develop a creamy smooth taste.
Nice review.
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you revisit Old Joe Krantz?
Got any recommendations for a raisin and molasses flavor pipe tobacco non-Aromatic?
@Regular Joseph nice thank you! Ordering some now!

Dark fired forever
I been waiting since Sunday
Voice crack lol
Also great review
Why are you saying you weren’t as positive as you wanted to be. You said “highly recommend it”
"Irish Flake" is much too strong for me
Hi Bradley. On your recommendation I tried the Elizabethan Mixture that you enjoy. I bought a tin ... smoked 2 bowls ... hated it ... smoked the rest ... love it. Now have to source some more. Thanks for the heads up.
Good stuff!

It's ok. I find it's hard to keep lit. I prefer Sherlock Holmes because it stays lit easier
Did you try drying it first/longer? Different prep methods? Rubbing out, fold and stuff, cube cut and gravity fill, etc?
Brother... you are my go-to pipe tobacco reviewer.
One blend I'd recommend reviewing is Maltese Falcon.

Time for some rimm......eeeeuh reaming!
I have a tin cellaring
This is not strong, at most a medium I smoke 30g a day .
I know you don’t drink much, but given your general dislike of licorice, is it safe to say you’re not a fan of Jägermeister?
Haha. Correct!
Slower then Smoking Pipes
