Ah, Old Dublin! Haven’t had it for a few years now but I know I have some jared somewhere, so perhaps I should revisit it myself. It used to be a favourite of mine.
I had a bad experience with Latakia in my early pipe smoking days, when a friend gifted me what essentially must have been pure Latakia for blending. It was, to put it mildly, fairly overwhelming.
Then, years later, I went abroad for a week and accidentally only brought a single tin of tobacco with me: Peterson’s Old Dublin, which was new to me then. With only Latakia to smoke it was the only thing I did smoke that week. With the Greek summer being far to hot for my tastes, I sat on the hotel patio for hours smoking bowl after bowl drinking cocktail after cocktail. A blissful existence! So began a long love affair with Latakia for me, and that’s my Old Dublin story.
The very first tobacco I smoked that ended up being one om my favorite English blends. I need to add back then, I picked this blend based on your review and you revisiting it now is so exciting for me. This is how my journey started.
The comparison with 965 was pretty helpful, since I only had My Mixture and not Old Dublin yet. The Revisited series were a great idea 💡 Digging your outfit with the hat and Perry-Polo btw 👍🏼
Thanks so much!
I’ve had a couple tin of Old Dublin in the dank cellar for about five years. I think it’s time to crack one. I’m sure that I’ll like it. Good video Bradley! Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
My go-to Dunhill/Peterson is 965, but Old Dublin is a nice "perspective" blend. I like the slight tangy/spiciness of the Basma. One of my favorite blends after a nice seafood meal.
My favorite English. Just found an unopened tin I’ve had since 2016. Looking forward to cracking it.
My favourite blend for years......thanks.
Nice Fred Perry polo!
Hey Bradley! Love the reviews. I noticed CigarObsession channel was just taken down by YT. Just thought you may want to know so you could maybe back up the videos somewhere. Would hate to have them go lost.
I bought this tobacco today and looked for a good review and my good friend Bradly solidified my choice. Hope you are well my friend.
Great revisit! Revisit Skiff Mix sometime soon. One of my fav's!
Love this blend. I loved Frog Morton on the town (Basma). I discovered Old dublin while chasing down blends with that nice floral basmati note. The floral/incense like note was more prominent in the frog Morton but it is in Old dublin if you look for it. My only compliant about Old dublin- needs more basma ;)
I like your revisited videos, Bradley!
I'm glad to hear it!
Old Dublin is still my favourite blend! Also love 965, they are very similar 😁
This and Gaslight are my favorite blends with Latakia
One of my favorites.. thanks for the review.
My pleasure!
The basma is what makes this dance.... I miss it.
Excellent review man, really considering trying this and that mixture 965 you're always talking about.
You should!
Love it. Great re-review of a good blend. Question do you still use your Eldrich pipe? Love your Dunhills, but your a lucky man to have those.
Haven’t tried this one yet! I have one one my cellar since 2016 🙂. My go to English mixture is the SG Commonwealth 😍
Nice one!
I bought a tin of Old Dublin more than 20 years ago. The only memory of it is summed-up in 3 words: thin, wet and hot. Might have to give it another try, although the STG Dunhill blends are nowhere near as tasty as the Murray's version. The authentic Dunhill-made stuff was magnificent!
Should do quiet nights! With less comparison to penzance.
Hi I need some help
I have some problem with my pipe
When I light up my pipe in one minute good test of my tobacco turns to really bad test .....
I can't understand what the problem is
Please guide me....
Thanks
The Basma makes it awesome.
It's a great crossover English (ish).
Bradley, how would you measure the nicotine content for Old Dublin? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
It's been awhile, so it's tough to say! I don't remember it being particularly strong though.
Great!
Interesting...I smoke 965 daily, so I'll have to give Old Dublin a shot.
So a Scottish blend
I got a tin of this and tried this 3x and never got much flavor at all, definitely nothing tangy or sweet, which was disappointing. Not sure why.
Do you find that this blend burn’s hot?
It could if it's too moist.
I miss the original SaT studios.
My palate is developing. I have just recently been able to recognize the sourness of orientals. I think Standard Mixture is very oriental-forward. But I recently bought a tin of Cornell & Diehl’s Mountain Camp. I think you might like that one. No cavendish, but it claims to have perique. I can’t detect the perique in it, but it is definitely more oriental forward but not as harsh or “ragged” as Standard Mixture. You might like it.
Cool! Thanks for the suggestion!
What is the difference between black and brown cavendish?
Depends on the maker, but in general, black is sweeter (more sugar added) and gloopier. Brown is lightly toasted with less sugar.
@@stuffandthingsyoutube ok thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it very much
Hmm... Do you revisit with the same pipe as the original reviews?
Pipes affect the tastes as they mature....
Ha! I miss your old homeless apartment; it was so entertaining 😂 .
Why do I like Balkan blends but can't stand Peterson's blaken mixture
