Loved the shots and clip of Dublin's Peterson store. I had the pleasure of visiting Dublin in 1966. I was walking down the road with my suitcase and a street cleaner stopped his work and leaned on his broom when he saw me approaching. As I neared him he looked at my suitcase and said, "Taking your case to a higher court?" It just cracked me up. The highlight of my visit.

I love my Peterson's. They, like Savinelli, are a great bang for your buck. My most expensive was tracking down the model Basil Rathbone smoked as Sherlock Holmes... it has not been produced often since the early 80s, and I finally found 2 in good condition; 1 lightly smoked rusticated and when I finally found the smooth it was unsmoked and fairly pricey, but I had to have one.
Kevin!!! Thank you for taking the time grab some footage of your trip! Great pipe choice as well! The Irish Harp is definitely on my 'want' list. God bless you, brother! 🙏
What a wonderful blessing to be sent to Ireland by your work! That is a beautiful pipe! I love Peterson pipes. Their silver work is fantastic. It is actually pure silver, not sterling, which is an alloy. You have a blessed weekend, my friend. John.
I just went on their website and checked one of the ones that I own and it says sterling silver. I think that I got the idea that they were pure silver from the video on how Peterson pipes are made. Because I know I didn’t just dream that up. So maybe they switch to sterling silver a while ago. Anyway, in any case, they are both beautiful pieces. Sterling is harder so it’s less likely to scratch. That’s a bonus.

A beautiful pipe you got there. Very well chosen. I now wish I had chosen a sandblasted irish harp, but I didn't. I'm still happy with my smooth full bent billiard though. Maybe I'll get a sandblasted one next🤔 Anyways, have a good smoke✌️
Love it! I visited Ireland in 2006 I think and made a point to visit that same shop, even though I was just an occasional pipe smoker at the time. I bought my one and only Peterson from the shop too. Looking forward to the rest of your video footage.
Such a beautiful pipe! I can imagine a lifetime of wonderful smokes (I'm also a little envious right now ) Kevin enjoy this wonderful gift and all the memories and fellowship attached to it !
Happy Music goes to Dublin, Ireland. I love it. That is a really beautiful pipe. That was certainly a nice pick. I'm sure you had an excellent time. Did they have any blends of tobacco in store that were different from what we have available here?
Not that i noticed. I admittedly didn’t look at the tobaccos for long as they were all wrapped in grotesque images of cigarette smokers with torn up mouths/throats/lungs. It’s so ridiculous and ignorant for pipe smoking to be categorized with cigarette inhalation
Just cracked open a 1990’s can of Rattray’s and about to try a bowl … saw this and it’s a good morning with coffee so far. Thanks for the video. Very cool. There’s some factory vids out on YT of Peterson. I didn’t know the owners owned the other places you mentioned. That was very interesting. Great video. Thx for making it. 👍 Looks like a lot of fun. Beautiful pipe btw. The grain is great! Love Cumberland stems.. I dropped a Peterson the other day denting it and will be trying to steam that guy later this week. Fingers crossed. Lol. Switch to cobs when smoking late at night and maybe a little sleepy. My wife warns me this and I still forget here and there. Whoops.
Hello from Dublin Ireland. I'm very fortunate to live in the home of Petersons and I've bought most of my pipes from the Dublin store. It's a beautiful shop and the selection of pipes is mindblowing. I'm glad you had the experience of buying a pipe from the fantastic staff there. One thing I noticed you didn't mention was the price and very small range of the tobaccos available in Ireland. Unfortunately in Ireland and The UK the price of tobacco is extremely high and the range is extremely low. A 50g tin would cost almost €40. I buy my tobacco from a UK shop in Northern Ireland which is almost €10 cheaper per tin. When I'm in Mainland Europe, Spain for example I can get 5x50g tins for €50. That's almost 5 times cheaper. Smoking a pipe in Ireland is a very expensive habit and only for people who really get the joy of a good pipe at the end of the day. You guys have no idea how lucky you are with the vast range of tobaccos and pipes you have for a reasonable price in the US. Enjoy your Petersons and hopefully you'll get another chance to visit Ireland again sometime soon.
I hope so too, I love your country. Be sure to see my review of Peterson University Flake for more scenes of Ireland! Yes, I was disappointed in the tobacco selections and prices, that is very unfortunate. The pipes were very fairly priced tho and a great selection!
I have Peterson Dracula 999 Sandblasted and I love it it is a good smoking experience. I only smoke it during the day light hours though I like how it keeps lit without overheating of course I actually ream it and keep it clean.
@@hobbitonpiper Yeah it's a cool pipe it smokes smooth and the color of the stem along with the swirling makes it a cool design and it's a fishtail design and also has a nickel plated band with the Dracula name engraved in old English and three bats. I keep it clean and ream it every few days to keep it from building up too much carbon cake so it don't get too hot and break.
I only have Savinelli at the moment but i still use a Peterson pipe and tobacco bag because i love their accessories and colors. I tried to get a peterson recently but didnt find the option combo i wanted at the time. Next pipe for sure.
wow I imagined that would be a bigger store....looks like a tiny but charming little retail shop. I always thought the retail store was in the factory where the pipes were made but it does not appear so unless there is a massive back area or upstairs....do you know if the public can visit the actual Peterson manufacturing factory in Ireland?
Smoking my Peterson Pub Pipe as I watched this video. I would like to go to a proper pipe shop like that. Even just to look around to see what catches my eye. Cheers
A pint of Guinness in country is supposed to be the best according to my cousin in England. Tried some we heavy in Scotland and it was good .Looks like a lot of fun. Watch out for the craic dealers ha ha.
Pints of Guinness in Dublin pubs are undoubtedly better, more flavorful, creamy beer heads, just phenomenal. We drank many of them :) They have specialized lines to keep the taps perfect. All other Guinness tastes watered down in comparison now unfortunately :)
I'm Irish and all my pipes are petersons but I've never set foot in either the petersons or James fox stores in Dublin hope to in the not too distant future🙂

A paid trip to Dublin !! You lucky guy !! Ya, Ya, I know you were working but ...... DUBLIN !! I didn't notice any pipe tobacco in your footage ... do they sell tobacco in that store ? You can smoke is a pub there ??
They sell tobacco, but each package is completely wrapped in grotesque images of people’s throats/lungs that have been torn up from inhaling cigarette smoke. It’s quite awful and ridiculous for pipe tobacco to be grouped in with the effects of cigarette inhalation. And yes, there are outdoor courtyard areas where you can smoke at many pubs and restaurants there. Quite nice!
Availability of product was very much the same. Prices to buy in store appeared to be roughly 15% higher than what you might pay online after shipping for most items, but man that is WELL worth it for the experience you get, and lifelong memories you take with you, supporting the retail store, not to mention the awesomeness of shopping and selecting off the showroom floor in Dublin.

Hi Kevin, I'm making the very same journey in a few months time and it's reassuring to hear how friendly they are....I can't wait to find a pipe that speaks to me too! Many thanks
Let me know what you choose! :)
A beautiful pipe you got there. Very well chosen.
I now wish I had chosen a sandblasted irish harp, but I didn't. I'm still happy with my smooth full bent billiard though. Maybe I'll get a sandblasted one next🤔
Anyways, have a good smoke✌️
It’s a very nice finish! :)
Love it! I visited Ireland in 2006 I think and made a point to visit that same shop, even though I was just an occasional pipe smoker at the time. I bought my one and only Peterson from the shop too. Looking forward to the rest of your video footage.
Cool, it’s a great shop!! :)
Such a beautiful pipe! I can imagine a lifetime of wonderful smokes (I'm also a little envious right now ) Kevin enjoy this wonderful gift and all the memories and fellowship attached to it !
A gift / souvenir for myself! :)
@@hobbitonpiper I have to agree with that.
Whoops.
Yes, when sleepy, put the more expensive pipes away :)
That’s the closest thing to Disneyland can be!!! Awesome. I’ve would walk out of there with 10 pipes at least lol
It was hard not to! I probably should have :)
Great pipe! I have the same one in a smooth finish. Unfortunately, mine was just purchased on line not during a cool trip to Ireland. 😀 ☘️ 🍺
I’m glad they are all accessible tho!
I have Peterson Dracula 999 Sandblasted and I love it it is a good smoking experience. I only smoke it during the day light hours though I like how it keeps lit without overheating of course I actually ream it and keep it clean.
Very cool, I love their Dracula series!
They make some nice ones!
wow I imagined that would be a bigger store....looks like a tiny but charming little retail shop.
I always thought the retail store was in the factory where the pipes were made but it does not appear so unless there is a massive back area or upstairs....do you know if the public can visit the actual Peterson manufacturing factory in Ireland?
Different locations. Yes I do believe you can visit the factory, but I’m not sure if appointments are needed.
Smoking my Peterson Pub Pipe as I watched this video. I would like to go to a proper pipe shop like that. Even just to look around to see what catches my eye. Cheers
It’s an experience like no other! Very fun :)
OMG Im a Dubliner, Peterson's is where I buy my Pipe Tobacco
So cool!! I loved your city and this shop :)
Wow!
Pretty cool! :)
I'm Irish and all my pipes are petersons but I've never set foot in either the petersons or James fox stores in Dublin hope to in the not too distant future🙂
You really need to! Both are a great experience :). Be sure to watch this video from Ireland as well!:

@@hobbitonpiper thanks for the video great advert for Ireland and our owl petersons pipes unfortunately none of their tobacco's are made here anymore.
What do you do to get to travel to Ireland for business? Bucket list trip for me as others have said. Nice pipe!
I’m an information systems auditor for a global manufacturing company. We acquired a new Branch there
Very nice! Im sure you don’t really get a say but you should try and encourage your company to see the advantage of acquiring new opportunities near Matamata, New Zealand, (I think that’s the right place) and do. Hobbiton Piper video from The Shire
@@natepetersen499 that would be awesome! Highly unlikely but you never know :)
At 10:15 you mentioned you'll be smoking this pipe in an upcoming video. Unfortunately, I can't find that video. Have you posted that video, and if so, can you point me to where I can access it? Thanks!
Yes, another beautiful video from Ireland!:

@@hobbitonpiper Perfect. Started watching the video earlier, but when I saw the travel pipe I thought you were going to smoke from it. Thanks for the clarification. Enjoying your videos!
Quite nice!
I almost got the Irish Harp in the 127 cut but landed on the Aran (same cut) with the nickel band instead.
A great choice!!
What was the prices like compared to here in the states? And did they have any different tobacco’s that we can’t get here? Thanks for the video
