Loved the shots and clip of Dublin's Peterson store. I had the pleasure of visiting Dublin in 1966. I was walking down the road with my suitcase and a street cleaner stopped his work and leaned on his broom when he saw me approaching. As I neared him he looked at my suitcase and said, "Taking your case to a higher court?" It just cracked me up. The highlight of my visit.

I love my Peterson's. They, like Savinelli, are a great bang for your buck. My most expensive was tracking down the model Basil Rathbone smoked as Sherlock Holmes... it has not been produced often since the early 80s, and I finally found 2 in good condition; 1 lightly smoked rusticated and when I finally found the smooth it was unsmoked and fairly pricey, but I had to have one.

I just went on their website and checked one of the ones that I own and it says sterling silver. I think that I got the idea that they were pure silver from the video on how Peterson pipes are made. Because I know I didn’t just dream that up. So maybe they switch to sterling silver a while ago. Anyway, in any case, they are both beautiful pieces. Sterling is harder so it’s less likely to scratch. That’s a bonus.

Great story Kevin, and what a cool memory of purchasing your Peterson in the actual store in Dublin. I've never been in Ireland but boy that would be cool, my son has and he visited Jameson's distillery and brought back two bottles of Distillery Reserve. He gave me one but on the condition that he and I only partake of it together and with one other very old friend who loves to sample a wee dram as they say. Enjoy your new pipe, it looks great! I now have two Petersons in my collection. Great pipes both of them. BTW the shop brings back memories of when as an undergrad I worked at the Pipe Pub Stores in Houston, TX.

I took up smoking pipes about two years ago. I was new to it and had to experiment along the way with different pipes and tobacco. I have wasted my money on many pipes not really satisfied with any of them. About a week ago, I decided to try a Peterson pipe - Peterson Aran X220 Rustic Bent Fishtail Pipe (PE2371). For the first time, after two years. I felt this Peterson pipe was perfect for me. It was oozing with quality, felt comfortable and hung nicely. I was so glad to finally find the right pipe I ordered two more Peterson pipes. One was the same as the one mentioned previously and the other was a Peterson Aran XL90 Rustic Fishtail Pipe (PE2447). I am extremely happy with these three Peterson pipes.
I have had two Savinelli pipes and later tried cheaper pipes from different makers but... Peterson pipes were the one I was most satisfied with.
Thank you for sharing your video experience in Ireland.

Beautiful pipe btw. The grain is great! Love Cumberland stems.. I dropped a Peterson the other day denting it and will be trying to steam that guy later this week. Fingers crossed. Lol. Hello from Dublin Ireland. I'm very fortunate to live in the home of Petersons and I've bought most of my pipes from the Dublin store. It's a beautiful shop and the selection of pipes is mindblowing. I'm glad you had the experience of buying a pipe from the fantastic staff there. One thing I noticed you didn't mention was the price and very small range of the tobaccos available in Ireland. Unfortunately in Ireland and The UK the price of tobacco is extremely high and the range is extremely low. A 50g tin would cost almost €40. I buy my tobacco from a UK shop in Northern Ireland which is almost €10 cheaper per tin. When I'm in Mainland Europe, Spain for example I can get 5x50g tins for €50. That's almost 5 times cheaper. Smoking a pipe in Ireland is a very expensive habit and only for people who really get the joy of a good pipe at the end of the day. You guys have no idea how lucky you are with the vast range of tobaccos and pipes you have for a reasonable price in the US. Enjoy your Petersons and hopefully you'll get another chance to visit Ireland again sometime soon.

Availability of product was very much the same. Prices to buy in store appeared to be roughly 15% higher than what you might pay online after shipping for most items, but man that is WELL worth it for the experience you get, and lifelong memories you take with you, supporting the retail store, not to mention the awesomeness of shopping and selecting off the showroom floor in Dublin.
