The XGT is the best hammer drill in the industry right now and it's not just raw power that makes it the best, like the man said it just sounds and feels different than the competition, I have both and the best way to describe it is the milwaukee is like the 70's muscle car and the makita is the modern lexus V8, both make the power but the makita is so much smoother and easier to control precisely.
Very true 👍
I have the Makita 40v hammer drill Ann’s a couple of months ago I picked up the Dewalt DCD805 hammer drill. The Makita is a beast, but the Dewalt in masonry seems to be much better, faster, effortless.
Makita has always been the best highest build quality Home Depot just hawks Milwaukee so hard so everyone falls for them but there's a reason Home Depot only rents out Makita stuff. Going from red or yellow the second you pick up anything Makita 40v it just oozes quality.
I’ve been running Milwaukee now for four years great power as a framer. I’m constantly having to drill and screw for larger applications and I love my drills and I swear by Milwaukee I started up the XGT line 2 years ago, and very recently purchased the drills. They are magicalto say I don’t think they have the same amount of raw power as the Milwaukee but are 1000 times more versatile and at the cost of fractions in comparison to Milwaukee not in price because they are more expensive but for a very good reason
I LOVE MAKITA TOOLS
The Makita XPH07 really upped the ante when it came to sound, feel and power and the new XGT has gotten it so right ✅️
Makita best drill and impact drill.Power, ergonomics, smoothness and confort.
I love makita tools their tools get the job done efficiently and feels good while doing it
You would think a 40v tool would dominate an 18v but admittedly I do not understand voltage, watts and how that translates to performance. I use both Milwaukee and makita (18v) and love both brands. All manufactures make some really good tools and some not so good, but I think Milwaukee and makita do a good job of having more hits than misses 👍
Voltage doesn't matter that much, they could in theory get the same power from 4v pack with same 20 cells.
High voltage tends to run cooler at the same wattage as lower voltage.
@@Factoryseconds123 yeah in practice there are some limits in conductor area
Higher voltage runs cooler and longer than a lower voltage. The way Milwaukee has power is the amperage output through the battery is slightly higher.
But Milwaukee batteries can easily overheat, Makita batteries won’t do that.
Watts is power
The formula for watts is Volts times Amps. (Technically voltsxampsxpower factor but I’ll keep it símile)
So to achieve the same power with a lower voltage you need more amperage/current flow.
As long as the wattage of the tool is the same then regardless the voltage of the battery you will achieve that same amount of power because the amp draw will compensate based on the voltage.
I have a bunch of XGT tools the drill is by far my favorite the thing is just unreal how good it is wont overheat can drill or drive screws faster then anything
Thank you for the video! Great comparison!
Very helpful video, thanks. Power isn't everything. Smoothness is important.
Looks like Milwaukee can’t claim to be the most powerful anymore! That’s crazy, good video 🤙
It was for like 4 months after release
At that level power means nothing, now every brand premium drill driver are very powerfull. Now what is important isn't to have the most powerfull but , the best ergonomics, confort , safety and easy to use and for that milwaukee is far from makita for those things.
Thanks a lot for this!
How do you find the runout on the chuck on these two drills?
Is the runout on the Milwaukee as bad as some say?
Perhaps you could do video about this topic, comparing Milwaukee, Makita, Dewalt, Flex, Metabo and others if relevant.
Buen trabajo hermano?
Gracias
So you know pal
The makita has anti kickback as well.
Milwaukee having anti-kickback and being 18v contending with a 40v makes it clear to me to go with Milwaukee....but at the end of the day you can't go wrong with either one.
True 👍
The Makita 40v also has anti kickback..
@@PushaDee I was impressed with how milwaukees 18v can do just about as much as makitas 40v...and with milwaukees track record of being durable tools I decided to go with milwaukee...even though I hear makita feels smoother.
Makita is much more reliable than Milwaukee. Better build quality as well and won't overheat. There's a reason why Home Depot rents out Makita and not Dewalt or Milwaukee. Milwaukee and Dewalt are simply more popular because Makita tools are more expensive and they are harder to sell than the other two. @@davids.3725
@@davids.3725I did also. I purchased the gen 4 kit. Not a fan of the fancy clutch on the Makita, on my job site that's too much to go through and am afraid if the electronics should go one day the clutch is out the door with it.
Milwaukee 2904 vs Dewalt dcd 999?
And that's with the smallest battery in the 40v line throw the 5 or the 8 on it and watch her eat
That's true 👍 it's a 40v 2.5ah
I use the 5amp on my 40v gives it a big boost in power
40v does offer more power but where it really shines is run time.
Wow I'm surprised milwaukee did so well. Actually just beat the mikita on the 1st test. Imagine if they made a 40v lol
i don't know how you tested the Antikickback
But actually the Makita 40V still have the Anti kickback but not stop immediately as the Milwaukee
Does the Milwaukee have really high pitched noise when running? Louder then gen 1 Milwaukee?
XGT charger is three times more expensive than Milwaukee's unit. Battery is about twice as much. No backwards compatibility for XGT/LXT.
Their chargers new are compatible with both 18 v and 40 v. There's only a handful of 40v tools in their catalog so it's not the worst not having backwards compatibility
XGT charger is more comparable with the Milwaukee rapid or supercharger speedwise though. So, it's either in the same price range or an even better buy!
Yes. Higher quality tools tend to be more expensive.
18 v vs 40 v ;)))) Milwaukee is the best
Is it only me who thinks that the designers of this 40V Makita drill should feel ashamed of themselves that the Milwaukee kept up with only 18V?
The gen 4 is that powerful
Not a fan of the fancy clutch settings on the Makita, on my job site that's just too much to go through.
How does the Makita not have anti-kickback?! Wild.
True
It does have it.
The anti kickback on the Milwaukee is useless VCG tested it didn't even work
@@loucifer4205it works all the time for me
Hi, what’s the difference between models: GPH01 and HP001 ?
Same. HP001G is asian name.
I think but we both also got to see is that you are running an 18 V versus a 40 V that also comes in the play as well… I don’t know I’m still not sold… i’ll stay with Milwaukee… I think it’ll win in the long run, it has the longevity… in my opinion… Great video though…
I understand this is just for fun of science. I've seen 18v red and 20v yellow tools beat 40v and 36v tools sometimes voltage ⚡️ doesn't matter.
There is no way Milwaukee make a more durable product than makita and the 40v argument is getting old its the top Milwaukee has to offer against makita top offering
power wise is corded drills better?
That’s actually a really interesting phenomena, corded tools, historically are more powerful and they can be, but because there is less demand, there’s simply less innovation, so if that is even possibly the case still, it won’t be long, aside from what you’re not going to see is as many options, safety features or ergonomic components as I said, simply less innovation
*Makita the number one 🎉🎉🎉*
Fun fact the real test is a 1 ft or 30cm earth auger there you can see the real power. Everything else is playing small games for these monsters.
The power of both tools will be different. One is an 18 volt and a other is a 40 volt. Voltage will be based on potential power when using the hammer or drill/driver to see what potential energy will be released.
I've seen 18v tools beat 40v and 36v. Sometimes voltage does not matter.
according to your reasoning the Milwaukee should have won it then... 18v and 6ah battery vs a 36v and 2,5ah battery. Either way they were so close in speed and power so no clear winner in this test. Didnt he say gen 3 in the video by the way?
GEN3!!!??
The testing is flawed
It depends on how hard you push down on the drill. You didn't seem to even push down on the Makita
Nu cred 😂😂😂😂
Milwaukee is a Dodge Demon-powerful but feels like a cheap piece of crap while Makita is a Porsche.
Im surprised that Milwaukee is so close Makita and still the volt-gap is so big..... If Milwaukee would have 40V, it would woop the ass of the Makita and send it home...
No difference, really. User dependant.
I only buy makita. And it has last me longer then my coworkers milwaukee drills and impacts. Especially makita batteries. They kick milwaukee batteries 🍑
