  • Last year, I tested the Gen 3 Milwaukee Fuel Hammer Drill vs the Makita LXT. Now it's time to test the Gen 4 and bring XGT into this showdown!

I invested in Milwaukee heavily, but that doesn’t stop me from buying other brands’ tools, I have DeWalt heat gun and Fan + I have Ridged inflator + some Ryobi Tools, never stuck with a brand since there are better choices from other brands and all can be used by a battery adapter if you don’t want to buy a battery.

Kudos for you for testing Milwaukee Fuel tools with a High Output Battery! A lot of these tool test channels still don’t get it! They insist on using the Milwaukee 5 amp battery. Reason being…because it came with the kit. So what!! In order to get the power needed to perform at peak efficiency, Milwaukee Fuel tools need the High Output Batteries, preferably the 6 amp HO Battery, which tends to have more power than the 8 amp battery. So other tool channels…get a clue and don’t use an inferior performing battery when testing the Milwaukee Fuel tools, as you are handicapping the Milwaukee tool being tested!

  • @justinoff1

    I'll stick with Makita

  • @VashtheReapr

Ive used Makita for 10 years now. What i love about them is ease of use, comfortability, and durability. Ive watched Milwaukee & Ryobi drills burn up in a cloud of smoke while the Makita keeps on truckin.

  • @zackzander425

Used to be a Milwaukee fanboy but Makita just makes more durable tools. Now that I have my own business I buy Makita for 18 Volt and I've kept Milwaukee for M12. Their M12 tools seem better than the M18 line and they are hard to beat all around. Thats about right that the speed bore fell out of the Milwaukee. The chucks on their drills are garbage.

  • @txvet7738

I totally feel you on that, I invested into the Ridgid 12v platform for them to discontinue the entire platform not long after I bought into it. That’s ok though cause I stepped up to the M12 platform and love it. The XGT platform really seems to be where Makita is focused on right now and that’s probably where I would go as well! Great video my friend!

I've watched a lot of these tests. I don't own either of these brands, I own a different brand, so I'm not biased towards one or the other. It is interesting to see the tests and maybe we want to know that we have the best and greatest but in normal use it doesn't matter that much. The biggest difference I see between the brands is in constant hard use. I'm not talking about dropping it off of a building or running over it with a car, I'm talking about driving many fasteners or drilling many holes one right after the other. The Milwaukee will operate longer without overheating and shutting itself off or harming itself than any other consumer brand will. This would be important to some people.

Sorry to hear about your Makita but it’s kind of funny that you had to replace the makita for clutch issues because the excuse people always make for Makita, when comparing them to Milwaukee, is Milwaukee’s break, which they is not true. And you kind of just reasserted that excuse “Milwaukee let’s you go maybe to the detriment of the tool”. even though it was your previous Makita that broke .That’s not the case certain tools are designed to Run at different loads even different temperatures, the threshold for one tool isn’t necessarily the threshold for another tool, They’re both great drills two of my favorite brands. That Milwaukee really is a torque monster. Once the new forged pouch Cell Batteries from Milwaukee drop there will be plenty of new contact to put out! And I agree about the XGT line up and development. I also believe that the new generations of Milwaukees were specifically designed to run off the new pouch cell technology.

  • @TheAzimvs

Makita all the way for me. Because I was using Makita in the factory for years and nonstop 3 shift

  • @Nicky14P

I think you’re right about Makita putting the LXT tools on hold. Reminds me of when Makita did the same thing recently with the CXT line. Maybe they are starting with a clean slate and are about to release a crazy amount of new tools with better technology to compete?

  • @taylorshin

Milwaukee seems never to be unimpressive! Always a top dog! At the moment, I do not have enough justification to delve into M18 platform. But surely I will keep them in my sight! I saw recent development in the M18 with the new compact impact driver. I even touched it at my local HomeDepo and it felt almost like a 12v tool.

  • @UncleIvan1

had a chance to drill into my foundation this week and I have to admit, had a hard time with a harder concrete. only needed to drill few holes, but was wishing I pulled out my sds instead

  • @PhillyFixed

Agree with your assessment - Milwaukee doesn't throttle performance. I think that comes at the expense of tool longevity.

  • @k.squared

I don't know Fuel batteries, but BL4025 XGT battery used here produces maximum power of 1,1 kW, whereas 4040F and 4050F reach 2,1 kW (and there are 4025F and 4040 in between). Would using a bigger battery make difference in the case of this particular test?

Fantastic video. I really enjoyed everything about it.

  • @jmuench420

The spade bit falling out of the Milwaukee would drive me nuts. I've been leaning towards investing in Makita for my battery platform

  • @nicko5945

I do love both of these drills. The Makita XGT, while amazing, just feels fragile to me with all the electronics. I had to have my first one replaced under warranty already due to transmission issues. The flex is actually my go to at the moment for the heavy duty jobs and then my gen 3 m12 for everything else.

  • @BigBaller.69

Does your makita xph14 have a clicking noise when you press the trigger fully then slow down, kinda like feathering the trigger. Mine does and it annoys the hell out of me. Idk what’s causing the clicking noise but do you think this is a common issue with the xph14?

  • @SouthFLTools

Nice video. Based on what I’ve seen from other channels, I believe the flagship hammer drills from Flex and DeWalt would be better suited at competing with Milwaukee in the concrete tests.

  • @DiligentDave1966

How would you compare the LXT with the new Ridgid high torque hammer drill?
