Something about the way you talk about games is so much more genuine than most other reviewers/commentators out there. I really like how open you are to different genres and don’t seem biased towards only one genre. I also like that you aren’t obsessed with high graphic 3d games like everyone else. Been watching for about a year now and just felt like commenting!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Wesley :) I always feel weird talking about games because I'm not an industry professional or anything, rather I'm just a decades-long enthusiast at this point and I guess it's easiest for me to just sort of wax about how much I dig a new game in relation to similar titles I've played previously. On the graphics front I can definitely appreciate the artistry and technical prowess, but I also love seeing how people worked within the confines of earlier generations and STILL made beautiful things! Appreciate that you're still watching after a year and if you've got any recommendations I'm all ears!
Hey Josh! For me, this month is stacked with indies that interest me. Looking forward to Indika (already out), Crow Country, Animal Well, Little Kitty Big City, 1000xResist, Ghost of Tsushima, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Senua's Saga (loved the first one!), Gestalt: Steam and Cinder, RKGK, Duck Detective, Nine Sols, Umbraclaw and Selaco (the demo for this one was awesome)! Definitely not picking them all up on day one but some of them for sure! Gonna play Indika next because the demo left me intrigued!
Yo, Titan! Weird you should mention Indika as I just ran across that the. other day. As for Crow Country I played a good chunk of the demo last night and WOW that is EXTREMELY polished as a throwback horror experience! Lots of good stuff coming out this month and I'll have to look up some of the others you mentioned as everything after Senua I don't think I'm familiar with :p
@@YourPlayer2 Yeah, lots of good stuff this month! Crow Country is looking really good but I hear that is more of a puzzle game with survival horror vibes than survival horror per se, not that that's bad or anything. If you can only check one or two, do check Selaco (really awesome shooter) and Nine Sols (a metroidvania from Red Candle Games, the team that made Detention and Devotion) ;)
Ah Hellblade 2, reminds me how much I loved 1 - and that I picked it up and played it based on your recommendation! One of the first games I ever played on deck. Wishlisted Skald to remind me to check how it runs on Deck.
Thanks for all the previews, mate. Your vids make sure Steam sales always have something to say about my wishlist and also that my wall of Steam Shame remains thickly encrusted in games.
Oh that's great to hear! Glad you enjoyed the original and that you're pumped for it too :p Skald will probably be a sale purchase for me someday- too much to play so I definitely feel the shame XD
I like these types of videos, keep em up Josh!
Glad to hear it, Jake, and I most certainly will! :)
Hey, love the video as always. I really like when I get a notification that you've put out a new one. 😊
Just to clarify one thing though. The current 50% off on Braid remastered is only for owners of the original otherwise it's actually 20% off. It's not obvious on the steam page unfortunately. This is often the case with remasters and such.
Glad to hear it, butcher! :)
Thanks for the heads-up that was my mistake!
I just wanted to say that (don’t judge me) I hadn’t heard of V Rising until I watched this, I purchased it a little over a week ago and I’m beyond hooked! I’ve found myself playing it on my PC for a couple hours and then firing up my Ally in bed and farming mats! Thanks for introducing me to such a great game!
No judgment at all! Glad to hear you're enjoying it and hope to return to it at some point myself! You're most welcome and glad it was helpful, donkey :)
Well, I guess I didn't get any notifications from your channel for a month, so thanks, YT, I guess... I like how you mention any types of games and not just the big ones being released because I would never have heard of Heading Out or Skald (both titles that I've now added to my wishlist)! Ghost mystery looks insane on PC just by the way it looked on PS5 where I've played it. It's such a fantastic game! I didn't play Hellblade 2 as I didn't want to start with all the negative things that have been talked about in reviews and online in general. I want to play it when I'm in the right frame of mind because I know I will enjoy it even if it's a short game! Great video and keep up the good work!
No worries dude! YT is definitely squirrely sometimes. Well, I mean I love the big releases and have at least a few on my radar this year, but there are a SHOCKING number of fun, interesting, or, straight-up BRILLIANT games that fly completely under the radar ya know? I couldn't find Ghost Mystery? Is it on Steam? I can tell you I DID start Hellblade 2 and I'm probably 2 hours in so far and enjoying it. Not as good as the first one, but that's a hard act to follow! Hope you enjoy it when you do get around to it :)
@YourPlayer2 That's a typo that turned into a completely different word! I was saying Ghost definitely looks insane on PC (Ghost of Tsushima) but I guess it turned definitely into mystery... sorry about that!
@@DanofWar101 OH! Ok I was looking it up thinking I missed something :p
I was so looking forward to playing HellBlade 2 and than Xbox did the Ultimate Gut punch where I'm more afraid for Ninja Theory and I've currently lost my appetite for gaming.
Ah I can't say blame ya- Heavy news today and that sucks about Tango.
Frostpunk 2 and Shadow of the Erd tree are what I'm waiting for
Frostpunk 2 sounds really familiar but I can't place it for some reason? But YES- 100% with ya on Shadow of the Erd Tree!!
I've personally never been able to have any fun playing Smash, but Multiversus is a blast I'm def gonna be playing it again
Yeah it's not really my thing either but I might have to give Multiversus a shot!
I'm super excited for Skald, and I don't really know why. The demo just hooked me.
It looks crispy! Haven't tried the demo yet myself but not opposed to it.
For sure interested in The Rogue Prince of Persia, i haven't played Dead Cells but i know the team behind it are capable of great stuff. Until then I'm probably gonna be playing the twisted Cannibal Tales Episode 1 which launched yesterday
It looks so fluid right? The combat looked a lot like Dead Cels to me and I loved it there but man it's a tough game to be sure. And WOW, just looked that up and looks right up my alley!
@@YourPlayer2 Yeah, honestly looks a lil more fluid than Dead Cells did (based on what little I’ve seen of it anyway) looks super, super fun. Plus it’s just great that Prince of Persia has had two games in the space of, what? Three, four months? Wild
Hope you enjoy Cannibal Tales if you pick it up!
V Rising dounds pretty cool, looks bit like Diablo
Right? With some gothic crafting for good measure I guess.
PoP is a must buy for me, i own v rising, and will be revisiting it in 1.0, i would also love to play ghost of tsushima on my legion go if the port is solid.
Nice! I'm hoping to give it a whirl some evening this week, but I'm still working through Stellar Blade so we'll see what happens :p REALLY hoping Ghost plays well on the Deck myself! Still have to finish the island expansion.
Gotta get SKALD. It looks great - reminds me more than a bit of Ultima III way back in the 1980s, with an Apple ][+ with 48k
Oh yeah the retro appeal was the biggest plus for me checking that one out. I think the earliest computer I remember using was the Commodore 64 or maybe Apple II at the public library?
HADES 2 is out on Early Access! STEAM DECK VERIFIED!
Oh man how did I miss that?! Feels like a pretty serious oversight given the polish of the original :p
Besides Hellblade 2 I am VERY much looking forward to Crow Country.
Its a PS1 Final Fantasy 3d styled horror game and my god it looks right up my alley!
Coming out May 9th so its out soon...I sound like an ad for a second there.
Tether! so weird you mention that as someone JUST brought it to my attention on twitter earlier. I'm gonna try to grab the demo later and check it out but those visuals look incredible :D
@@YourPlayer2 Figured it was up your alley! I held back on the demo cause I didn't want to be spoiled on it, but I have heard the demo is pretty damn good.
Hey Your Player 2, and all the folks here. Any recommendations for a PC handheld for a working dad? I was debating the Steam Deck or maybe waiting for the next Ally. PS love the channel and content.
Yo! Personally I'm a bit biased here but I think the Steam Deck is swell :p in all seriousness though after having used the Ally and the Deck for months now I still favor the Deck despite the technical advantages of the Ally. Mostly because it feels more streamlined, stable, and well supported by the folks at Valve. It's not that the Ally is BAD necessarily, it's just that the combination of stability and bang-for-the-buck with the Deck makes it my typical recommendation. now if you're a graphics snob then by all means go for something beefier, but all of this is to say if you grab a Deck I imagine it will serve you well. Something else you might entertain is buying one locally at like a Best Buy or Gamestop or somewhere that has a sound return policy- then you could test it out a bit to be sure before you fully commit and all :) And thanks for the kind words, dude!
Awesome, thank you!
You probably already know about this game but “Animal Well” just dropped and judging by the games I’ve seen recommended here, I suspect you’ll find this game just as interesting as I do. Curious to hear your thoughts on it, perhaps in a future video? =P
Enjoying your content, P2 ✌️
LoL I literally bought it just after publishing this! Hoping to spend some more time with it this week but have to finish at least ONE video this week, likely for Crow Country. But yes, I'm SURE it will turn up, likely in the May pickups video in a couple weeks if it doesn't get its own :) Always appreciate ya, Evil, and hope you've been well!
Braid frustrated the heck out of me when it came out.
I couldn’t get the hang of manipulating time, so that was a bit of a drawback. Maybe I’ll just back in.
Heading out looks very interesting, if currently a little empty, maybe I’ll grab that one when it goes on sale.
Otherwise nothing really jumping out at me, I didn’t play the first Hellblade game, so I’ve no interest in a sequel (although interesting that it’s not getting a physical release, and really isn’t being advertised.
Another month of Balatro I suppose 😃
It definitely had some complex puzzles! Heading Out might not be a day one for me but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. Kinda sad it's not getting a physical!
Hey dude! awesome video as always. Lorelei looks bonkers right?!? - totally random but I used to have a channel here called "HORROR on DECK" and we exchanged a few comments on here back and forth for a while. Super long story but that channels gone and I had to restart which is why I'm now going by "The Scream Deck" XD anyway I tried to DM you on twitter but it was being a bit funny as my account was so new, I was just trying to get in contact with you to ask a potential horror themed favour? Anyway good to see you as always my dude! - Harrison.
Yo! I remember dude and I’ll check my DM’s in a bit :D Glad you’re back at it since I bought Shotgun Roulette on your recommendation 😂
@@YourPlayer2 awesome man :) I'm glad its finally getting some recognition, I think its even on steam now which is way easier!
Hmmm, I don't see a message from you- what's your twitter name? TheScreamDeck?
@@YourPlayer2 yeah TheScreamDeck
If ghost is Steam Deck verified I’ll probably pick it up. Otherwise it’s looks/plays amazing on my ps5.
Here's hoping, user! I wonder if it'll have cross-save? That'd be killer and make it a must-buy for me.
Homeworld 3 Josh, come on!
LoL I'm sorry I don't have any familiarity, papa! XD I just looked it up though and at-a-glance seeing it's an RTS is a plus since I grew up on Command and Conquer!
@@YourPlayer2 The first Homeworld game was groundbreaking in 1999. Was the first truly 3D RTS in that you could move your ships on X, Y, and Z axis and its controls were and still are quite good given that.
I'd highly recommend the Homeworld Remastered Collection and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (a planet/ground based prequel). Those often on Steam sales super cheap.
For RTS games, they have really good narratives/story and atmosphere (great music and ambience). Fyi this is Sean if you didn't remember my YT handle.
Hades 2
HUGE oversight on my part!
Hey uhm, i personally can't enjoy any game that doesn't atleast run at a minimum stable 40 fps.
Maybe you can give a heads up for the fps.
No worries! In MOST of my videos I talk about the frame rate stability, it's just that for a video like this where the games aren't out yet I can't really speak to it :)
@@YourPlayer2 cool, cool. Because i assume this is still mainly a steam deck channel. And i only play pc games on my steam deck.
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle Chomp Champs and Little Kitty Big City
I'll have to check out Pac-Man but honestly just glad he's still kicking around what, 40 years later? :D I HAVE played Little Kitty Big City and enjoyed what I played if for no other reason than finding the frog hat was adorable :p
@@YourPlayer2 Pac-man is eternal! My son who's turning 6 chose a Pac-Man themed birthday party this weekend.
As long Ghost of Tsushima would need PSN - I will not buy it and I do not recommend anyone else to buy on PC.
Is it for the campaign as well or just the online? Hadn't considered that!
@@YourPlayer2 Look like it is only necessary for online, so as person who does not play online, it looks like ok for me.
@@CenturionKenshin Ah ok, well that's helpful at least. Personally I don't mind the PSN requirement since I'm already a subscriber. Although I definitely understand people's hesitation given Sony's spotty history with security.
