Im glad you posted the before and after because its a really good comparison!!! My one oncidium is a tad wrinkly, but i do keep up with watering.hope its nothing to worry about.
I'm so happy I've found this video. My orchid is very dehydrated but I'm still nervous about leaving it so long in water. It will be 24hr tomorrow. Thanks, Brad.
Thanks for sharing! I have one that seems to need water a lot I think. The new growth all looks like an accordion. Yours hasn't been watered and doesn't have any of the accordion affect. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for this one as here in England they sell some oncidium types and they are in horrendous media that’s nearly soil and it usually rots them within days I’d purchase I always have to repor them and this happens regularly the dehydration is crazy , thanks for another great video
Yes and no, if your orchid is very dehydrated you can but it won't fix the droopy leaves, just plump them up again. sadly the leaves will always hang after wilting.
@@BradsGreenhouse thank you! Michigan winters are unforgiving in their lack of humidity...my poor babies are constantly thirsty and the media doesn't stay hydrated long. I am going to start soaking them and perhaps add some coconut chips to the bark mix to help!
One thing that should be added is that you have humidity in your Greenhouse. In a dry environment I don't know if you could go 2 months without watering an oncidium could you?
Good comment, Very true, in no way is this video saying you should go that long with out watering an orchid anywhere, In the Greenhouse or the house. It may in fact look the same after 30 days in a house, not 60, depending on humidity.

@@BradsGreenhouse does it mean that it will die? The leaves are bright green. I live in the Caribbean and my media is red broken bricks and charcoal in a clay pot with holes so now i water every other day and i soak it in water for about 20 mins like once a week. The leaves are hanging down despite being green. Just a bit scared that my orchid will die
@@anij3222 I'm not sure, I cannot say but it sounds like you may want to change your watering to several times per week, the media you are using will not hold water long.
@@BradsGreenhouse thanks brad i will do that! When i got it in november as a gift it was in sphagnum moss and i didnt water it for like 2 weeks while i was binge watching all these orchid channels so i suppose it never got a good soaking since i only started watering when i switched to the clay pots. Thanks alot!
Im growing some venus flytraps, ortho their about to go dormant for our winter in Australia, so im wanting to get some more carnivorous plants that dont need dormancy. great content
I have orchids on tree near my home. It goes 4 moths without water. That 4 moths are hot 38 to 45 degree Celsius temperature. Other time average temperature is 35 degree Celsius. Bro they are just hardy plants.

have you done a play list for oncidiums? I would love to see a video of a video of good and bad roots on an oncidium and what to do

Thanks, this video was right on time, as I just inherited several severely dehydrated and neglected orchids
Awesome, That is great timing. Good Luck
That is amazing and AWESOME! Loved it🌸
Thanks Wendy
Great video! Thanks Brad! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Wow, bad daddy for neglecting your orchid for so long, but great recovery. I will remember this trick. :)
Does this also work with phalaenopsis that have good roots but have been neglected?

@@caitlinbickings4454 If they are looking droopy you could put it in a bathroom as well, more humidity in there
Amazing !!!
Thanks!

Can you do this for a phalaenopsis with wilted leaves?

armeya vaidya not all orchids are the same.
Oh,i did not know they survive 2 months without water.
Yes, I seen them in the wild where it hasn't rained in months stuck to the branches and trunks of trees where it hasn't rained in months.
They’ll live, but they still don’t like it.
Very interesting how 24 hours makes all the difference. Heavy drinkers those Oncidiums 🥴
Yes, 48 hours but your right heavy drinker when underwater HAHA 🙃
Was that a Sharry Baby that was dehydrated?
yes it was a division
nice
Thanks Frank!
