Not a big commenter on videos, but, darn, these are so helpful and your are so pleasant and through in your presentation! Well done, and thank you!
This is by far the best tutorial I've ever come across for orchids. You teach WHY things happen. Thank you.
I AGREE! ONE OR THE BEST VIDEO ON ORCHIDS ON RUclips!
Amen to that
Any idea where one can find those pre-drilled glass pots?
@@edwardiraschachner1443 I found one from here: www.finnishdesignshop.com/garden-outdoor-gardening-flower-pots-planters-orchid-pot-small-p-14353.html?region=au&gclid=CjwKCAjwmNzoBRBOEiwAr2V27WsUCe50pofFv219fGa4_KWloVrL916r2WFvRaosAIelZMjFivVG9BoCby4QAvD_BwE
@@edwardiraschachner1443 If you follow the link in the description above, you can see a video where he explains how he makes these.
I have never received and comprehend this much information in a 15 minute period in my life. Your ability to explain things in a comprehensive way is amazing! Thank you so much!!!
I can't believe, after watching a few of your videos, that the orchid I had, lived as long as it did. I didn't do anything right!
Oh I'm so happy to have found you! Thank you, Michael!
You treat these like they are people patients! So much love is in every little thing you say. Thank you Michael!
I've been growing and watching YT videos on orchids for a little over a year and I'm impressed by your knowledge! You sure make it easy to understand! Thank you!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad it's easy to understand! It's exactly what I aim for ☺️

Michael's Orchids
What are the hydroponics?
@@shelleycarhill5225 the Semi hydroponic part is that theres NO SOIL. Its HYDRO CLAY PELLETS. They hold moisture within small holes n cracks n crevices which feeds the plant vs conventional SOIL or DIRT.
The HYDRO clay makes it SEMI Hydroponic.
So glad I ran across your tutorials! My orchids just finished blooming so I know it is time to repot. Thank you!
You inspired me to convert my only orchid into semi-hydro. 🌱
3 mins into the video, I had already decided you are my orchid go to! Very good job Micheal.
Incredibly informative.
I agree with Jennifer. This is absolutely the best video on orchids, and I have watched many!! It clarifies so many things about orchids. Thank you so much!
It's great watching and listening to someone who has passion for something. Michael's Orchiids is full of useful insights into the care of Orchids. I wish I had found this earlier. Well done that man!
I love analytical teachings. You don’t miss a thing. Learned a lot.
I have never learn so much in my life in such a short and concise way. Thank you so much for this video.
I had almost lost all hope for my orchid! ALMOST! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. So informative and thorough. Wish me luck on my orchid's rehab!
Glad I found this channel. I live in Florida and have a "Florida room"--the walls are 90% windows that I keep open, so the room stays warm and super humid with bright, indirect light. Orchid heaven! Will be browsing this channel to hopefully find tips on growing orchids with exposed roots and no medium. Orchid flowers are of course the goal, but I love the look of draping roots, too!
New to your channel. I have been growing my Orchids wrong all these years. Thank you for all the information to grow a healthier orchids.
Great video on caring for Kristen's orchid. I'd love to see how it did . Thank you for all the great info!
this video gives me the courage to keep and help my sick orchids. Thank you for all your help.
I'm dealing with some of these very things right now. I have part of the problem solved, but what a wealth of information! You've made a subscriber out of me. Thank you for your thorough information!
This video was an absolute joy to watch. So comprehensive. I love to understand exactly why I’m doing something for my orchid. Definitely makes me a better orchid mumma.
Thank you so much ❤
Love you Michael. Beutifully organised and super articulate with your own cute style. I'm a new to the hobby and I just rescued 16 severely dehydrated Phals. Fun for the next 2 years. Thanks!
I understand now!!! Ten years of frustrations, joys, and a few tears makes sense now! Thank you! 🌸. You’ve saved the lives of my future orchids!!!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Thank you for taking time to be a dispensary of time and experience.
This is hands down the best and most informational video I have ever come across for orchids. Now I feel confident enough to transition my beloved orchids. Thank you so much!!!
I just purchased an orchid to try out in lecca. I just planted it 2 days ago. This video was a big help and I am glad I got to see it!! Thanks!!
Michael, very informative. Thank you very much for the overview and details and links to explore what you use. As Jennifer said, your 'why/explanations' are awesome.
I went on the comments just to see if anyone is so amazed with all the info he provided. Verrrrrrry helpful and I’ve learned something I didn’t learn from other videos.
Michael, I am so glad to have found your channel today and have learned so much! I am excited to try this with my next orchids.
Very interesting, to the point, no time wasting, very knowledgeable. I like your explanations as they help me to understand the processes. Thank you
coping with live, shown by the example of caring for your orchids.
a wonderful metaphor :')
thanks so much for this brilliant job of explaining the delicacies of orchid gardening. explaining why and showing how to remidy something is crucial for properly doing ANYthing. it's a perfect teaching method. you're a wonderful teacher. thanks Michael.
Omg you are amazing!! For real, best instructor ever. I hope you do this for a living
This video may be older, but I just found it today. Very informative and well done. Thank you so much for this. I’m a first time orchid owner who has found myself needing some help to keep her beautiful....
love this! While I somehow lucked into getting my little store-bought phaleonopsis to re-bloom, I'm hoping to make it into a thriving, luscious plant - thanks to you. I'll keep watching your informative, interesting, and kind videos - you are wonderful. Thanks again!
Kudos to you for doing this. You are a fantastic teacher!
Oh my gosh thank you! You were so clear and showed the method and reasoning behind everything. I feel so confident now that I can do this

Beyond grateful that you not only explain how, but why. This is how i retain information hahaha
Michael, I just found you today. Orchids are so wonderful and so are you in bringing so much useful knowledge to like minds. Thanks for sharing.
WONDERFUL video!!! Thank you! I took all my orchids out and put them on a tree limb. I saw that they lived that way in the wild.. They look beautiful!!
You are a lovely, lovely person and I love your videos. What a considerate co-worker you are. Thanks for helping me shake the guilt. I really want to improve my orchid growing skill. I've subscribed. Thanks!
This was fantastic ! I just enjoyed even tho I have never ever owned an orchid ! I certainly learned A LOT ! Definitely passing link onto friends & family who MIGHT want to grow an orchid !
Man!
You are very informative and your methods of sterilization are cool and entertaining to watch.
The look of having semi-hydroponics as your medium is stylish. Great video.
Thank you so much for this video you have given me the confidence and knowledge that I need to start to transition my orchids over.
Thank you Michael! You're a stellar teacher.
Personal Therapy via the medium of orchid....Micheal, I’m in England and my orchids are doing super well and I’m super happy about it....I mean to keep them well so I’m watching your master class....you’re a therapist.....it is so evident that you are a gracious human being....
I have learnt to bless the water I give my orchids with a heartfelt blessing, and I swear they love it...they look great.....thought I would randomly share what little I know with you as you have shared your elegant self with us...x
💡 !!!!!!!
After months and months of obsessively watching RUclips videos, potting, repotting and repotting my orchids in a desperate attempt to not kill them, your videos have finally brought me to a new level of understanding. Major light bulbs here. Thank you so much for this video! 🎉🌸
This video was brilliant. After my first phalae failure last year, someone bought me a new one as a gift. I am now repotting it and realise where I went wrong with the old one. I also understand now why the bottom leaves died and feel off the old one and that this is just part of the process! Thankyou! Subscribed!
This has been SO USEFUL I am going to go save all my hubby's mini-phaels. Thanks!!!
I absolutely LOVE this video. I am definitely going to reference this one to all my friends who are starting out with or want to start Chid growing. I've seen many many videos and read many articles in order to get the amount of info you have provided in just one 15ish minute video! And so eloquently put too!
Thank you for sharing, it took me a long while to compile the information into this system. Now it's a breeze!
I just found your channel and having watched hundreds of videos, this is the best I have seen! So glad I found you! Will be looking forward to catching more clips and learning from you. Thanks so much for your clear explanations and sharing your extensive knowledge with us. Cheers!
Wow, I’ve learned so much. Thank you so much for all these instructions. Wish me well!
Truly excellent! So concise and easy to understands! Thanks so much!!!
I love this tutorial and how you explain why things are done which makes so much sense.
This gives me hope for my sad phals that I've gotten recently. I've had a few orchids before that have all met their end due to either over watering, dehydration or root rot as I didn't know much about orchids at all. The way you present the info in this video is SO helpful. I've been searching and searching online for the best medium and this seems like it will work for my climate. I'll definitely give this a try on my poor dehydrated babies ;u;
I just found your page and Love it! I have a couple Orchids I rescued from a grocery store clearance tray. I am hoping to save it, so here I am. Thanks so much for doing this video, Perfect timing!!
OMG you saved the Orchid from killing itself!!! You’re my HERO :)
Thank you, Michael. I am so happy I found your channel. I have inadvertently killed a few Phalaenopsis. I was trying to understand what I was doing wrong. I have three Phalaenopsis in my care at the moment. I am more confident that I will be able to look after them a lot better.
Oh thank you! I'm watching all of your semi hydro videos!(to be honest all the semi hydro videos I can find on youtube.heh)
I have an oncidium twinkle with horrible roots that split into 2 sections and now both sections are just starting to push out the first signs of new growth. One with 2 bulbs and the other with numerous roots. I'm currently using a little cheap pipette to manually water them every day or two. Yes. I love my plants. Lol
Ive heard twinkles love semi hydro because they want to be watered so frequently. New baby root nubs seem like the perfect time to convert!
I'm really growing to appreciate your channel! You have such a pleasant and comfortable presence in front of the camera. Youve made so much wonderful content!
Thank you SO much..I just rescued 2 orchids from a friend and now I feel that I have the knowledge needed to save them! 😊
Wow! Your tutorial is so succinct and informative. Amazing. Great job👏👏
Michael, thank you for this very well done video. I am just starting out with Semi Hydro.
Wow, the part about changing the medium was really helpful for me to understand why the roots suffocate, thank you!
I started a new job a couple of months ago & was given an orchid (that I now was is a Phal) as a welcome-to-the-office gift. My heart sank I've long been afraid of orchids, believing they were beyond my [limited] ability. Its flowers bloomed and now it has two bald flower stalks. It did grow a new leaf, but then appeared to go into sleep mode. I've been fretting over what to do next. Today I stumbled across a vid of yours in which you rescued Kiki's orchid; I then watched this vid. I have [used] leca and see that you have a vid on properly cleaning growing media! Michael, you've given me courage & confidence! I'll view your vids--I'm sure with my new found knowledge my orchid & I are poised for a beautiful relationship. Thank you so much!
I find this video very interesting. I never thought about hydroponically growing orchids. Every step was explained thoroughly and very well. I was trained that orchid roots like being "tight" and that it promoted them to essentially stress out and bloom... Id love to see a follow up to how they turned out.
This a great info! I don't feel as daunted as a newbie! Thanks so much!!
Thank you for this video! You Are SO easy to understand!!! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you!!!
Absolutely wonderful! Well done and thank you so much for the excellent information!
Thank you for this video Michael, it is invaluable. I have been growing orchids for many years (along with other houseplants) but have now decided to transfer everything to semi hydroponics. Your video has been extremely helpful and I have learned a lot (at 70+ this doesn’t happen so often!) so, once again, my grateful thanks, I enjoyed it immensely. (Frances, UK)
I watched your videos and recently converted my phalaenopsis orchid to semi hydroponic. It is now thriving. There are 4 new roots and the leaves are not bendy anymore! It looks great. My husband bought me this for our anniversary 3 years ago and it started to die. This method has brought it back. Great videos and I also lve the way it looks with the lyca beads!!!
wow! what wonderfully clear and well-explained instructions! You've convinced me to switch my few struggling orchids to semi hydro! And you convinced me to subscribe! 💖🌺
this is the second video of yours I have watched...OMG I want to hug you!!!! Thank you so much for this! I tried to do the bark to hydro swap on my own and I failed so miserably. THIS ...this is AWESOME !
wow, its great how passionate you are. You are a great teacher. really learning from you.
00:30 and here I am 4 videos deep into your channel. You are a fountain of knowledge! What a guy 😘🥰
Wow ! Your explanation broke down every step in such great detail, I appreciated this informative video
Great video, I have learned so much, I have converted two of my orchids, I hope I can save them, thank you
Learning oh so much! And I love your style. Thank you Michael!!!
Amazing and clear instructions. I have followed someone elses who said 24hrs in water, 24hrs out of the water for many weeks and things are happening but I much prefer this video and treatment. Very clear. Thank you. Xx
Great information, so happy I found this and this will help me so much with future Orchids!! Your tea bag method is currently helping to save three of my Orchids!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
Thank you so much Michael! I invested in a heating mat & my Phal is blooming!! A first for me!
Extremely through and well presented!! Thanks! Vicki
Thank you so much for the tutorial. You have explained a lot why, how and what to do to care for orchids in leca.
This is such a well organized and helpful video Michael! It's so so important for new orchid owners to be aware of that sphagnum plug. I noticed my new giant Phal was not doing too well a few months back and decided to repot. I discovered a big sphag plug that was deteriorating her middle roots. So glad I repotted sooner rather than later! And it's so important to know that it's ok to cut flower spikes. I've had people say I'm crazy for doing that, but then my plant starts growing a new leaf so ha! Lol. I did not know about the reason for cutting above the node so that was neat 🙂 Thanks for a really informative video on orchid maintenance. Well done! 🌺
Thank you for your kind words and positive feedback Emily, I really appreciate it!
Boy, I loveeeee the way you explain things. I guess you know what you are talking about. 😊 Thank you.
Haha, thank you! I don’t have all the answers by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve learned a lot 😀
@@MichaelsOrchids ..Darling, not everyone has the gift of speaking like this , so god bless and see if you can use you talent to make more money. Don't known...there are so many gabs in the market and you can feel it with your audacity. Go for it boy, xxx
You'ze a boss. I'm off to the store to get started on treating a bunch of sick orchids
Wow, so glad I found your channel. Bought my first Orchard and now can love & care for it intelligently. Thank you. Also going to get the equipment!
Kitty Anaspenelope Did you typed it wrong or you really went ahead and bought the whole “Orchard”??
@@tan_k I hate auto fill, that's my answer as I slowly type it, checking each letter as it pops on the screen.
😘 Thank You So Much, Very Informative for us want to be Orchid Lover’s Whom haven’t quite figured it out. Better then anything I have read, or watched. Ty
I love what a clean freak you are! Me too! Thank you for your help. I bought the clay beads from ikea and didn’t know how to use them. Now I do!
Damn, your tutorials are so on point. This is so helpful and gives you a perfect explanation. Thank you.
Micheal I so appreciate your knowledge, and delivery.
I wanted to share my experience with drilling holes in glass/ mason jars etc.
I found after three very pricey drill bits, the light went on and I pulled out my Dremel OMG it is absolutely fail proof (for me ) just wanted to share this.
You make it look so easy and I am very knowledgeable with power tools/ bits and all that fun stuff.
I wanted to share this because I can see that it would be quite a challenge if you 1 don’t have proper drill power, 2 absolutely essential bit.
Back to you and your amazing knowledgeable self.
My mom passed in May 2019 she had 3 orchids and I took them home, mind you I am a personal Gardner but I have had not a lot of luck with these exotic beauties so I am very grateful I found you.
You rock!
Now let’s see if I can make this work.
With Respect,
Michelle
Nice video and a very honest one. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
thanks a lot! i was so scared when i tried FWC ... now i found some more informations, thanks to you!
I just found your channel today, and I love it, your are clear and concise in your videos and I absolutely love your personality. New subscriber and I am looking forward to viewing all your videos!!
Such a great informative and straightforward video! Thanks for the detailed tutorial and for the explanations. I’ve always wondered about those old spagnum moss plugs....
This video blew my mind. On my way to buy a new orchid confident i won’t kill it this time
Thank you so much for the moral boost in the beginning. You are amazing!
This is the first video I'm watching of you and I'm already in love with your type of explanation!
Awe, thank you Monika! I’m glad you found it helpful ❤️❤️❤️
I just found your channel... First of all.. I love you. Second of all I need a orchid hype man like you in my life.
I should be doing homework... but the aspiring plant lady in me just wants to keep watching these videos
