Also, look at the flowers (especially the back) to make sure they don’t have mealybugs and look for signs of crown rot or stem rot. If you know what day your favorite garden center receives their shipment, it’s a good day to go before they start watering them to death.

Thank you. I am one of those people that only look at the flowers, and now I know, thanks.

I always repot ASAP cause the roots are always jammed in there and I also remove the moss cup they all come with. Am I doing right? So far no demises. I have 7 healthy phalaenopsis. I also have Cattleyas and Vanda's. Been growing for a year and a half. Az🌵here.

Totally a good thing to do once home. This video is going just one step further to make sure you don't bring one home that already has bad roots. I can save a lot of headache compared to buying an orchid and then finding out later it has rotten roots

I recently bought one that had no apparent way of watering it. The instructions said 'drop two ice cubes on the surface' ! Yeah right. Tropical plants just love ice!! 🤣 Thanks for the tips Brad.

Hi from the U.K.and new to orchid growing. .Does having transparent pots for orchids help their root development? I suppose epiphylic types might be helped by the tiny amount of photosynthesis but would it be enough to make any difference? I really enjoy your blogs, thank you for taking the time to share.

I think the clear pots help a bit, at the very least it is good to see whats gooing on in the pot

Thanks for giving us more orchid videos. Could you do a video on the care of a dormant Mexican butterwort. I have two and not quite sure how to keep them alive over the winter. Thank you as always for sharing all your knowledge with us. Merry Christmas 🎄

It will also save you from spreading potential diseases/pests to all your other plants at home. Trust me, some of us have learned the hard way!
