This is so helpful! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and experience.
Excellent tutorial and product review-thank you so much.
Thanks for your video. I just purchased one of these today.
Thanks! Great vid and the finish is beautiful
What beautiful work!!!
Very helpful, Thanks for your video.
Thank you for sharing your experience !
what size compressor are you using?
What size tip did you use?
And... where can you buy additional tips for this gun? I've looked at the manual and Harbor Freight's site and don't see where you can order tips for it.
Looks great! I wanted to spray a guitar I'm building this way rather than using spray paint cans. Couple of questions. I will use my Harbor Freight compressor. I will need to get an air filter, yes? Does the sprayer spray at all angles, because I will have to spray the guitar at all different angles. Looks pretty basic and easier to hold and maneuver. Thanks!
Nice video
thank you for you video
Can you tell me what size compressor you used-and what CFM you were able to dial in with it? I want to get one of these, or the Black Widow-HTE or maybe the HVLP model, but my compressor is a small one at 2.5 horse power with an 11 gallon tank. The Specs sticker says it pushes 6.3 SCFM at 40PSI and 4.3 SCFM at 90 PSI. I’m in Southern California where it is warm and dry most of the time, so I don’t know how far apart SCFM and CFM would actually be.🤔. The guns I mentioned say they require around 11 CFM @ 35 PSI for the HTE and 12 CFM @ 28 PSI for the HVLP. My project is around 60 feet of iron fence plus three gates. The paint I am using is: Primer: Sherwin Williams Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer.
Top Coat: Sherman Williams Pro Industrial Alkyd urethane Gloss Enamel. Both of these product are pretty thick, and SW does not recommend thinning-ya right. The primer measured north of 227 seconds to run out of a Ford viscosity cup. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Bruce
I no longer want this. I need this! Lol. A couple questions, is pretty much any spray gun out there made for both paint or wood finishes? Or are there specified guns for wood finishes and paint? I want to buy one for polyurethane as well.
You did a great job I'm doing honey cabinets what color stain were you using that came out beautiful I've used the Kona gel stain and I didn't get that great of a result thank you for your help
The one thing I’ve learned just don’t use mineral spirits unless it says you can on the can.
Hope it goes well!!!
@@CreativityUnleashed You need a camera man and a better mic, you are good but sound like your down in a barrel
Are you using a propane tank ? If so, can I use this on my gun for dressers, coffee tables, chairs, table ?
What nozzles come with this spray gun
How long did it take you to get the overspray off of your car?
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother these days :)
i sprayed a polyester resin peal job in my apartment driveway... shhhhh
Thanks for the video. So you use the same ratio of mineral spirits to polyurethane for each coat?
I talked to the manufacturers afterwards and found out you're not supposed to dilute it with anything and it works fine without diluting it.
@@CreativityUnleashed thanks for the reply. I just left harbor freight with a set up and trying it out this evening.
What else can you use besides mineral spirits to thin out the urethane
You can use Acetone so that it will flash off quicker than Mineral Spirits and dry more like a lacquer. If you do not want to use Acetone, you can just use Naphtha but it dries slower than if you use Acetone..
Hey there! So CENTRAL PNEUMATIC
20 oz. HVLP Gravity Feed Spray Gun from Harbor Freight is only use for clear coat? Or can i use actual color paints for automotive painting?
it works great for paint as well !!
I have the same gun as your newer one, and drilled the nozzle out to 2mm per recommended, am using floor poly as it it t tougher finish.
I sprayed and the finish we full of small bubbles.
What would you recommend to eliminate all the bubbles. I have 12 table tops to do for a friend
Thanks
One question did you use sanding sealer first ? and also sometimes right after sprain if you hit it with a heat gun it will pop all the bubbles super fast but not always it depends the material you're using I hope that works
@@CreativityUnleashed no I didn’t. I just sanded and applied the poly. I’m a novice.
I tried various wipe on techniques and the MinWax oil base poly didn’t flow.
I’m going back to spraying and want to try again. Please give me some pointers to my questions
Using Varathane Polyurethane at what ratio should I mix it?
Have a regulator attached to the gun, what pressure do you use.
I tried a MinWax Sanding Sealer before but it prevented the poly from getting a good amber color to the wood, it did prevent raised grain but effected the final color. What sealer do you use?
Your finish on the piece in the YT is beautiful.
I was plagued wit very fine bubbled before don’t want to repeat again.
I’m so frustrated really hope you have time to help me set this up.
Thanks
Hager
May have missed it- but have you used these sprayers with interior paint on wood furniture?
with most oil base paint it works great on furniture
Works fine with latex paint. Need to thin it quite a bit but does a good job
what psi mine says 29-40 but nothing is coming out and its new
no polyurethane or paint or do you mean there is no air coming out whatsoever ?
Can they paint overhead?
Yes I have painted a lot of trusses overhead just make sure your lid is on tight.
did u sand between coats
Yes it is important to sand between coats to ensure that it sticks and I was talking to the manufacturer and they said you're not supposed to use any kind of thinner with polyurethane and that is definitely true
what air pressure were you using?
Under 40 PSI and I've learned not to dilute polyurethane.
@@CreativityUnleashed thanks!! appreciate the tip
What's the psi setting for spraying?
Under 40 PSI
Great answer! So is it 39 or 6?
required air pressure is 20-70 psi, air consumptions : 6 CFM @ 40 psi.

I don’t think it’s 6 cfm for this particular gun.. I have this spray gun, I believe it uses 10 cfm.
The purple gun uses 6.
Liquid teflon on the threads… This explains the bad reviews on the cheaper gun where they complained extensively about the gun leaking on first use-they cleaned that sealant off thinking it was just shipping gunk. 😉
Can you spray latex paint with it ? Can you buy a bigger tip for it ?
I have not tried spraying latex so I'm uncertain how that would work out. I think you can probably buy bigger tips on eBay.
No, tip too small
Hmmm interesting
That car in the driveway has a brand new clear coat now
which compressor do you have?
I have the Harbor Freight 8 gal. 2 HP 125 PSI compressor.
www.harborfreight.com/8-gal-2-hp-125-psi-oil-lube-air-compressor-68740.html
Creativity Unleashed that gun requires 12 cfm how did it work can you please explain
Intermediate use and working the crap out if the ac.
Notice his ac is running 90% of the time.
Holy crap man, open up your fan and stop spraying on an angle. And stop squeezing that thing so violently.
Hey, Learn how to paint properly !!!!!!!! Keep the gun straight with the work Not swinging side to side, It loads up more in the middle and less on the sides and can cause runs and overspray.
Yes I have been painting over 60 years,
pressure feed is the better than gravity feed,It does not compare.
Douglass Ojeda do they cost $50? If not, who cares a d i have both airless and this, this is better except need airless for latex but my god the overspray
@@mskehan19 but who are you ?, and why have you taken for granted, this is just a comment and is not to demigar someone, so you have or not.
Douglass Ojeda you never answered the question, does a pressure feed cost $50? If nit, how much?
no offence..but u have a lot to learn ..u can't stain properly..its so blotchy u didn't use a conditioner ..polyurethane is horrible to use ..use water base u don't have to clean with solvents..and u should use a hvlp gun it's a little more ...do some more research and ur life will be easier bud....I have 30 years spraying and staining kitchens...so I know what in talking about ...but good luck
The word “Professional” should never be used or associated with Harbor Freight. Harbor freight is good enough to get you out of a jam, that’s about it.
You're a idiot
