I really think Michael Fisher reviews phones better than MKBHD He compares phones so well that he does not even have a competitor !!! Excellent job Michael !!!!!!
+Anuj Chaulagain i'm inclined to agree. If i want something thorough then i'm choosing Michael's reviews every day of the week. Marques tends to be on the simpler side...gets to the point and does it well, very easy on the ear....and it's just him so i don't expect comparisons and the lot. That's too much content to push for one guy.
excellent review Mr. Fisher! I would definitely go for the Moto X Pure Edition anytime of the day, its more well rounded device for the price you getting.
+L BS Question, how is the Motorola Pure a more well rounded device? The Nexus has a better camera (for pictures), better screen, finger print scanner, better front facing camera, better updates, and more premium feel. They each have front facing speakers, but for my money I'm going Nexus 6P all day. Just too much of the better thing. Curious as to why you think it's better. Also, don't mention Moto Assist, an app called Agent does the same thing and is easier to configure and offers the same thing with one downloadable application. You can also program your Nexus to respond to another key phrase as well during recording process of the always on configuration.
+RealMDG you complain about maker.. still no Phone release in greece!! am still waiting, btw the price will probably be around 550 euros, so it may cost me 600$ ~ ...
Nexus 6P. I have it. The main reason I wanted it was the fast updates. The camera was a priority, and I chose better low light and more saturation. The fingerprint was a cool addition as well. So was the slow-mo. Sure the Moto has some cooler features, but the fast updates and great low light shots are the main reasons I am sticking with the Nexus 6P. Whenever I see an article about a new feature in Android, I know my phone will support it in the vast majority of cases.
I recently purchased the Moto X Pure when it was on sale at Best Buy for 250. It's the generic black with 32 gigs of storage. I absolutely love this phone and Poketnow's review of it helped me to choose this over similarly priced phones. Marshmallow really helps with battery life and it just feels a little more responsive as well. Great review and thanks for helping me decide which phone would suit me best.
switched from droid turbo to Nexus 6p. I miss Moto suite but the improved performance of marshmallow and the fingerprint scanner make the Nexus 6P just a bit better. I dbrand skin all my devices so looks are subjective, but I prefer the feel of a skinned Nexus to the bulk of Moto phones. Great review!
Great review! I ordered both phones and sent back the Moto X. It was really close. I loved Moto's Attentive Display and the easy settings wheel for the camera. But I thought the on/off button wasn't very responsive, took a bit too much effort. Which is kind of major, given how much it gets used. AND I usually keep my phones for 2-3 years. The 6P will likely still be getting Android updates in 3 years, but I doubt that the Moto X will. Which will probably make a difference in the longer-term performance, etc..
How come the Pocketnow team never take into consideration the fact that most people outside the U.S. can't customise their Moto X if they choose to buy one? I agree it's a great feature but as someone living outside the U.S. it's just a pain.. even to buy the plastic / black version of the Moto X Style (let alone a leather or wood back model with some sort of engraving). I think this should be taken into account unless you aim to focus your reviews solely to U.S. citizens.
I got the 6P and am very impressed. I had a Note 4 and loved it, well, until it got wet. lol. The 6p seems very premium. The camera is excellent and Marshmallow is fast. Having no bloatware and full functionality is amazing. I always liked iPhone for having that (and that's about it). The 6P is the best phone I've owned.
+XLPCX Same! Really surprised at how little light you need in order to still get a great photo. And that wide angle lens is impressive as ever. Not to mention that fingerprint scanner is too good!
When is moto going to put a fingerprint scanner in that dimple area! Still I would choose the X slightly because of its better ergonomics and customization
I recently got a Moto X Pure for Christmas, as an upgrade from my Nexus 5(which has been running Marshmallow for a while now, and is still one update ahead of my Moto X Pure). After turning on the Moto X, I was prompted to update the phone to Marshmallow. After the initial excitement of having a new phone, I started to be blow away by the battery life of the Moto X Pure. Even today I was blown away. I listen to music while I work, via bluetooth headphones, and today I was listening to downloaded music, streaming music, streamed a few podcasts, talked on the phone a bit, took some pictures, walked around with the camera app open, did all this stuff from 7:30 am to about 5:30 pm, and my phone's battery was still above 50%, and I never plugged it in after I left for work in the morning. The battery life on the Moto X Pure is pretty ridiculous, and it is just about the fastest charging phone on the market(which is a huge plus for me, as I go to countries like Haiti, where access to power can be dodgy). Also, I am surprised by how manageable the Moto X Pure is, for its size. I am a man of less than average American male height, with less than average hand size, and I can use the phone one handed. But, I tend to use two hands when using my phones, if I have both to spare, even if I'm using a small phone like my Nexus 5. Just wanted to share this information. I'm a Nexus fanboy, and I would have no problem recommending the Moto X Pure to anyone. It would be cool to get my hands on a Nexus 6P, just to see the differences myself.
If you don't need an excellent screen, a good headphone output, expandable storage and all the moto softwares improving the user experience.. go for Nexus 6P. If you don't need a fingerprint sensor, the latest snapdragon chipset, all the minor updates for the next 2-3 years.. go for Moto X Pure.
+Valerio Melucci Well I find the Amoled screen on the 6P much better than the IPS one on the Moto X. I can't listen to headphones due to it causing hearing loss so I use a bluetooth speaker instead. Cloud storage, and honesty I don't know how one can fill all 32GB. I would probably turn those off to save battery, or if I REALLY needed them, I would use a app. Fingerprint sensor is dope af. Not why I bought the phone but a nice bonus. I get to be actually hyped for Android N!
Thanks for the awesome review! I really liked that you actually named a "winer", not the classic "your option" that almost every reviewer gives. I still have not made up my mind yet, but this was a good help.
looked hard at both phones. Decided to go 6p with 128 gb from eBay for $410. At that price and the memory couldn't go wrong. Great review as always Michael.
After dealing with terrible software support for the oneplus one (OxygenOS) I would much rather have the nexus 6p just for the fact that it will always be on the latest version of android
+blueman24 Software bugs were pretty bad in OP2, but OPO was pretty solid. Especially since the dev community was extremely large for that device (and still is for that matter). OP2's OS feels more like a custom ROM, bugs, bugs, and bugs.
Great video man, but one question, is the blue backing on the moto x the same "royal blue" they have on the site or is it an exclusive colour? and if so where and how did u get it?
I chose the 16gb option hoping that marshmallow update will come early so I can use my 64gb SD as primary storage but now I'm kinda regretting it. I think 32gb is the best option to buy.
Thanks for another awesome video, Mr. Fisher! Personally, I chose the Nexus 6P over this year's Moto X (and that's coming from a former Moto X lover). While Motorola's added features make the Moto X a must-have, I got tired of Motorola's lies in terms of updating my 2013 1st Gen to Lollipop (which never happened) among other things. And the 6P is my first Nexus ever. I'll take fast updates and promised future support any day.
i do wish they make a smaller version of moto X style something around 5 to 5.2 inch...but after watching this i still find X style more attracttive than 6p
Michael you really made a great case for the XPE, but I'm sticking with my N6P for its Aluminum build, fast updates, low light camera, and battery life.
Excellent review! Based on this, I personally chose the Nexus 6P due to the quick update, fingerprint scanner, and better low light camera. In addition, I just want the purest Android phone put there. No need for bloatware from manufacturers. Again, thanks for the review which helped my decision a lot easier.
On balance, I'll go with the Nexus phone. Mainly because of the frequent Android updates. As I'm looking to keep my phone for 18-24 months, not being confident that it's going to get updates means the Moto isn't for me. So, it's a head over heart decision.
+Christopher Tilley Remember the possible screen burn in issues that you have to take in consideration with an amoled screen.. that was a dealbreaker for me so i chose the Moto X Pure (IPS LCD)
+Jonas Pieniniemi Well I have used a Note for two years and that has an ambled screen. It has no burn in. And honestly burn in is such an old issue now if you told me a modern flagship had that problem I would say you're lying... which you are.
+HERO I have a Nexus 6, purchased in November 2015. 2 weeks of use later and the nav bar is heavily burned in. Burn in on AMOLED still exists my friend.
+David Yang one is a manufacturing defect; the other is a clear limitation of AMOLED technology. Reviewers don't mention the AMOLED burn-in problem because they never use the phone outside of the first month or so; burn in doesn't usually happen until six or so months of use.
Wasn't that fixed by adding transparent status bar in homescreen? My firend is still using orginal galaxy s2 and the only place were screen looks bad is where the status bar is (it has broken because it was displaying only black for most of the time)
+theycallmedicklet that's only on the home screen or on phones with face buttons. Any other phone will still be vulnerable to burn in after a few months since the UI is on the screen at all times.
tried the nexus 6p out but just didn't care for it. Too many pro's for the Moto X to pass it up. active display, Moto voice, turbo charging (6p is still fast, but not as fast) , expandable storage and it may be gimmicky but I really like the karate flashlight. Plus I save $100. The nexus 6p is great if you always want the latest updates, excellent build quality and a really accurate finger print sensor. However if those aren't that important to you, then I highly recommend the Moto.
+Freaky_Chic_Girl101 The screen & the speakers. Also, there isn't much difference between it & my old Nexus 5, I mean in terms of user experience. I would like to have something with more features + better screen & speakers. The camera though is very very good, the finger print sensor is awesome & it's a very light device as well :]
+jose Calderon Yes. You're right, the "speaker", and I would've gone for the 6P if it was sold here in Canada -_- apparently the Google Store keeps saying "coming soon"... Anyways, I just ordered my Moto X Pure Edition through a website called "Big Apple Buddy"... Found it on Google, they help you buy stuff from USA that aren't available to purchase outside USA. It was the only way to get it since I have no contacts there.
+Allen Tom It's not a waste for some ppl, but for me I want more. That's why I ordered my custom Moto X Pure Edition & will arrive by the end of the month :]
super helpful review. loved the point by point comparisons and the actual video/photo/music evidence to back it up. will be subscribing and watching more reviews in the future. nice work guys!
got the mxpe, at first i was skeptical since it had the 808 processor and i didnt think it would be as fast as the 6p and since the screen isnt amoled, i like saturated colors. well my mxpe is rooted and has custom rom on android 6.0 installed for speed optimizations and removed all the bloat and just keep moto things we like, with the ROM im getting over 6 hours of on screen time. the kernel i used allows kcal settings which u can increase the saturation and contrast and get deeper blacks and more saturated colors. i never been so happy with this phone lol.. this mxpe is amazing, i recommend it
What rom? I'd be down to download it. But yea. I think that you can't go wrong with the 808 just because of the community. Any snapdragon really. I was able to push 60K on my HTC One M8 on Antutu 6.1
Well done Michael. I have both phones and I happen to agree with you. I've shipped back my Nexus 6p. The Moto X felt much more comfortable in hand and the nexus was a little too tall (among other things).
Always love the reviews Michael! I have the Nexus 5. But I really do like the Moto X Pure Edition. Only thing that bums me out is neither has Qi wireless charging like my good old Nexus 5. Can't tell you how many times it's saved me when I have a bad micro USB cable. Normally use my battery pack to wirelessly top off and it works great.
Moto X Love the expandable memory. I can just pull my 128gbSd card from my S4 and I'm set to go. I was awaiting the Galaxy S6, but I'm done with Samsung unless they provide the expandable memory. I've got another year for my Galaxy S4, so we will see what is available Summer of 2016. Thank you for the very clear comparison.
I have the Moto X Pure and love it. The SD slot is a huge plus. The camera works well and takes excellent pictures with the front and rear cameras. Battery life is good for a large screen phone and it charges super fast.
I went back and forth between these two phones, but I ultimately chose the Nexus 6P due to the extra battery life, the Nexus security update cycle, the fingerprint reader, and the ability to use one more carrier than the Moto X can: Project Fi.
Moto X Pure by a long shot. I'll take the Moto features, smaller size, cheaper price, and especially the SD slot over the fingerprint scanner, better low light camera, and fast updates. The last point is moot as well since the Moto X Pure was the first phone after the Nexuses to get upgraded to marshmallow.
I will go for nexus 6p as it gets faster updates and better software and I like its design it is slippery but I like it and the processor and the GPU are much better and the display is the best as it is amoled panel and frankly I don't care about moto maker becoz in country like India it is not available and I will get my nexus next month soon as my exam will be over but the comparison is really good.too job Michael that's why you are my favourite reviewer
Great review I made the same choice. And I love the moto x pure I get a while day out of it as well 6 hours onscreen time yesterday does not seem to be bad at all. Plus the colour on the nexus 6p chops terribly and the visor on the back scratches like hell so if you don't put a case on it your bummt.
Michael Fisher makes me watch phone reviews even if I just bought a phone already. I'll always stay with the significantly inferior Note series because of the stylus apps I can't study without, but if I didn't need them I'd go for either of these phones.
thanks for the great comparison. I just got a moto x pure for $100 box and all. he just didn't have the fast charger and I can't seem to find one online. any suggestions on where to get it? the nexus looks great and I would love to try that one soon.
Been binging old reviews on the channel over the last few days. Crazy to see how phones have come in what seems like a short time. Back in 2015, I was 18-19, rocking an iPhone, looking back I wish I would've gotten one of these. Funny thing though, fall 2017, iPhones pretty much gone to crap, was looking for a new phone. I look on eBay and find a Moto x pure. I loved the design of it, I remember in 2013 wanting one of the original Moto x phones. But, as soon as I got it, the phone was pretty much bricked, the seller didn't tell me this when I bought it and I sent it back, got my money back. Ended up buying a Nexus 6p after that, it had one final software update on it. I loved that phone, great screen, good speakers. But, the battery was already shot to hell, I dealt with it for a year then in 2018 got an iPhone XR when it came out for my birthday. But, rewatching this video and the others, I really miss this kinda android and phone designs/phone making. Even though they were all to a degree still slabs, at least some had character. Now, every phone is the same pretty much. But, that's just how things go sometimes I guess. Either way, it's cool to go back and relive some of the days as this guy now says " when phones were fun ".
have people stopped transferring stuff from their phone to their pc? Apart from select podcasts, I mainly stream music and video from services like spotify and youtube, so I only really take up space with apps and photo/video, which I can then easily dump on my pc from time to time if I need more space. I know some people who have pretty large music collections on their phones, with up to 10 GB of songs, and of course 4k video takes up a lot of space, but 64 GB is still plenty of storage for me not to have to worry about dumping my data for long periods of time.
Thanks for the great review. I have been torn between these 2 phones for some time now. When the Moto X went on sale the week before Christmas, $350 for the 32GB version, my decision was made. It is hard to pass up at that price. However, I've now been through 2 replacements trying to get a phone that 100% issue free. The first 2 had background static in audio through the handset earpiece. The 3rd had buttons that were so loose that they rattled. In the end Amazon said enough is enough and refunded my money. But I really liked the phone, so I am kind of disappointed with the issue resolution. That said, the Nexus 6P is once again in the running as my next device. However, without an SD slot, I'll have to get the 64GB version, and that is a far shot from the $350 that I paid for the Moto.
Moto X for me as well, for the same reasons as Michael, and if I were renewing my phone this year that's the one I would be going for. As I am not, however, I will be sticking with my Moto X 2014 for now.
Very solid comparison.. Love the 4k video comparison ...will be a great a help for someone who is struck in between these 2 phones to decide . thanks for the video :)
Motorola X Pure for sure. Coming from an HTC One M8, I use the speaker all the time. It truly bumps and Im looking for the same sound quality in the next phone I buy. The video stabilization looked incredible as well!
Great reviews and I almost pulled the trigger on the MX Pure but decided to try out Fi. If you get a Fi account, you can add the cost of the nexus as installments to your bill so now I hope to pay less than I was with Verizon for the same plan AND a sweet new phone. I'll miss the Moto features and gestures, though.
Thanks for a great video! I was really considering the 6p, but now I have more to think about. The moto x really brings some cool features that may just change my mind.
I prefer the overall look, shape, and size of the Moto X Pure (as I've thought the original Nexus 6 was one of the best looking phones I'd ever seen - with the exception of the size being a little too large for me personally, and the Moto X looks very similar in design). On the other hand I'm also a huge OLED fan, and love my true blacks and epic contrast. Finally I've become accustomed to having a fingerprint reader on my phone, as well as some level of water resistance (currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5). I'm probably going to continue holding out for a phone that combines the look of the Moto X with the specs of the Nexus 6P (preferably with the fingerprint reader on the front of the device!). Great review - Thanks
Which colour is that you chose for Moto X back? Is it royal blue? I love the colour, but when I see it on its website, i can't find this colour but its only showing royal blue. please let me know.
"Addictive" is absolutely appropriate for describing the moto x. I've tried ditching it for several others and I always end up coming back. I received marshmallow a couple months which is much welcomed. I think if you could take the 6P low light capabilities, fingerprint sensor, and slow motion video and put them on the Pure, that might be the pinnacle of Android.
Very good comparison Michael. I too would choose the Moto X Pure Edition over the Nexus 6P. Right now I'm not too sure which one to choose between the Droid Turbo 2 or the Moto X Pure Edition. I'm leaning more to the MXPE because of the price and the updates should reach it faster than the Droid Turbo 2 since verizon is know to delay updates for months on their devices. Than again with the Droid Turbo 2 I can get a "free" refresh withing a year by purchasing the 64GB option and that my friend is what has me on the fence between these two devices.
Just made this decision this week. I thought I'd want the 6P, but after playing with them both I went with the Moto. I liked the display on the 6P a tad better, but really liked Moto Voice and the way Moto integrates it. I had a P8 last year (only for a few months), and said at the time that I'd never touch a Huawei again. If the 6P was made by any other maker, I'd give it a chance. I do like the aluminum, but I think the back looks just terrible on the 6P. Like the expandable storage on the Moto, also. And the TurboCharger is the real deal. Moto X Pure is a very nice phone for what they are charging for it.
Great video as always mr. Fisher! :D Personally, I would go with the Nexus... BUT... that's not saying the Moto X is bad... I was considering it up until I saw Google's offering. Because I see that the extra 100 bucks is well-worth it for me, I'm willing to sacrifice the customizability, the excellent software from Moto and the better feel in hand for a fingerprint scanner, better battery and a better low light camera. I'm a night owl... I live in the dark. It's quite close but I think the Nexus is just that little better.
Why is it 2015 and OEMs still can't get the cameras exposure, auto focus, optical image stabilization right?! Google explicitly said the Nexus 6p did not need OIS and Michael proved them wrong! smh
I have a moto X and I love it, I've had it since it launched, but I am probably going to upgrade to the 6P instead. The Moto has been great but I want that AMOLED display, fingerprint sensor, and that better battery life. Also I had to factory reset my Moto because the performance was really beginning to become sluggish.
White Walnut Moto X Pure Edition (w/ Light Aluminum Accents to match the Frame). If I don't like the White Front, I'll swap it for free with a Black Front & Walnut Back (w/ Dark Aluminum Accents to match the Frame). I like to have a ton of storage for tons of locally stored music, photos, & 4K Video & the custom Voice Launch Phrase is a must-have for me. I'm just hoping Motorola will add FULL Camera2 API support (for Full Manual Camera Controls in 3rd-party apps) in the Android v6.0 Marshmallow update. I might go Nexus next year if they don't have a VERY convincing Moto X Pure 2016 with FULL Camera2 API support.
still pretty undecided on which I will be choosing soon, as a Moto G user I'll moat likely be moving to the Pure / Style over the 6p. Front facing stereo speakers, brighter display, slightly better camera for my use will be good enough for me. I don't particularly need a fingerprint sensor either, pin is fine for me!
Very apt comparison... Smoothly done. But here is where I get stuck. I can live with an older Android version and less prompt updates mainly because Moto will get the update sooner than later, but the battery life is the one that bugs me about Moto X. If I have to carry one of these bulky phones (they are heavy.. Ugh!), then I don't want to put in charger after half a day.
Good review. Each phone is well suited and has advantages over the other. But, I think the Pure is better suited overall and better value for the money. I have the Pure, and love it.
I'm watching this on my Nexus 6 I just bought for $289. I had a Moto X and didn't like it, it felt like you could feel the hesitation as it switched form the 2 cores to the 4. I love my Nexus 6 even though it's a year old its well worth every penny.
Awesome comparison video Mr. Fischer! I still can't decide which one tho. I'm leaning towards the Moto X for the simple fact it has expandable storage. If the X had a fingerprint sensor, then it would be a no-brainer.
You make some interesting points! However, given that these two phones are not on the same software, and in addition the updated state of Moto software updates, I'd be hard pressed not to throw more weight into the Nexus experience. Your review should have a weighted seesaw leaning towards the Nexus IMO. Appreciate your reviews as always...
That immense feel of happiness you get when you click on a PocketNow video and hear Michael Fisher's voice!
I feel nostalgic now.
I really think Michael Fisher reviews phones better than MKBHD
He compares phones so well that he does not even have a competitor !!!
Excellent job Michael !!!!!!
the thing is, MKBHD never compares phones. He only reviews them without making following up videos about the comparison with other phones
+Biondi Wiyono I know that :p
lol, is this what it's come to? tbh they r neck and neck! don't like MKBHD? don't visit his channel! P.S the proof is in the pudding....
+Noel paul
MKBHD has sold out. He doesn't care about making videos anymore.
Fisher! I would definitely go for the Moto X Pure Edition anytime of the day, its more well rounded device for the price you getting.
hey, i see your vídeos. i like your channel.
I like more premium feels than..
Adrian Alob you like premium feel more over a well rounded device lol. okay buddy!
+L BS Question, how is the Motorola Pure a more well rounded device? The Nexus has a better camera (for pictures), better screen, finger print scanner, better front facing camera, better updates, and more premium feel. You can also program your Nexus to respond to another key phrase as well during recording process of the always on configuration.
+Paul Hiam lol you mist be new. go check out my channel. make sure you bring some tissues with you when you watch my videos. thanks lol
2 years later and Moto Makers is still not in Canada! Nexus 6P for me thank you!
+Denton Burton we know :'(
+Denton Burton we know :'(
I know that's why I'm getting the 6p as well
+RealMDG you complain about maker.. still no Phone release in greece!! am still waiting, btw the price will probably be around 550 euros, so it may cost me 600$ ~ ...
+FiR3Dr4g0n since our dollar is much more weaker than the euro, the iPhone 6 (not even S) is about $900 up in Canada, which is about $700 USD!
How do you manage to handle two phablets on the same hand?
they aren thick and position of cameras are different.
+Juan Carlos Araujo S. He's a big guy. For you. With no survivors. /end thread
+Juan Carlos Araujo S. One behind the other leaving the rear phone's camera free of any obstruction. It's not difficult.
+Juan Carlos Araujo S. Fisher has the twitter name "Captain Two Phones" for a reason!
hmm yea bruh!
is the fingerprint scanner faster than the one in iPhone 6s plus?
thank you thank you thank you! I've been waiting for someone to do a review on these two devices. And i still can't decide lol
Lol same
Ditto
+Exiao utwob I got the moto a couple weeks ago and love it. There's no loosing side to this choice I think, both are great
go for the moto x pure.
same here, after several weeks of comparing, I am gonna go with the Moto X.
Nexus 6P.
It won't support that haircut though
Noah Beal ha-ha. Old photo. Still a funny joke though.
I got a Nexus 6P and I don't regret it at all :) Being up to date is extremely important for me.
Get the moto X pure edition now... I've had the phone for two months it's amazing. And it's only $250 for the 32 gigabyte model. A steal
moustachebro4life I'm getting this for Christmas coming from a Moto X 2014 and then when my upgrade comes July I'm getting a Google Pixel xl
I got the 64gb version for 250 at bestbuy. Such a steal indeed!
kikinvago how is it I can't wait till I get mine
I just bought it on cyber monday. Waiting for it but I'll let you know.
MadeAUsername no. I'm actually responding to you on the phone. it was a cyber Monday deal. 64gb version Moto x pure for 250 dollars
I love my Moto X pure edition but I might buy the nexus 6P and get the best of both worlds!
switched from droid turbo to Nexus 6p. I miss Moto suite but the improved performance of marshmallow and the fingerprint scanner make the Nexus 6P just a bit better. I dbrand skin all my devices so looks are subjective, but I prefer the feel of a skinned Nexus to the bulk of Moto phones. Great review!
Nexus 6P 699€ (64gb, because 32gb isn´t enough)
Moto X Pure 548€ (32gb expandable)
Looks like im going with Motorola this time :D
Great review! I ordered both phones and sent back the Moto X. It was really close. I loved Moto's Attentive Display and the easy settings wheel for the camera. But I thought the on/off button wasn't very responsive, took a bit too much effort. Which is kind of major, given how much it gets used. AND I usually keep my phones for 2-3 years. The 6P will likely still be getting Android updates in 3 years, but I doubt that the Moto X will. Which will probably make a difference in the longer-term performance, etc..
If motorola have put fingerprint scanner it is a perfect phone !! In its price
Fingerprint and better nighttime camera and I'd say it's the perfect phone, those two things drew me towards the Nexus
The way Motorola puts finger print scanners on phones is pretty bad.
I think it would be clever if they put one on the Motorola dimple in the back on the phone.
does the x pure edition not have a fingerprint sensor??
+Zombies4llDay no
How come the Pocketnow team never take into consideration the fact that most people outside the U.S. can't customise their Moto X if they choose to buy one?
+HERO I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with Nexus phones for a while. I love it.
XLPCX same
When is moto going to put a fingerprint scanner in that dimple area! Still I would choose the X slightly because of its better ergonomics and customization
I bought the Moto x Pure and I can confirm that it runs hot under heavy usage.
+Brandon Van Keuren I live in Haiti and I'm rocking a MXPE 32 GB... TruPure Rom, very satisfied so far
I think I will go Moto X Pure... based on your great videos, thanks!
looked hard at both phones.
I feel your pain. I sold my oneplus 2, thinking about getting the 6p or the moto x pure
Gabe W even I sold my 1+2 for a 6p.... Not saying it was a bad phone.. But nothing beats a nexus
what's wrong with oxygen OS?
+blueman24 Software bugs were pretty bad in OP2, but OPO was pretty solid. Especially since the dev community was extremely large for that device (and still is for that matter). OP2's OS feels more like a custom ROM, bugs, bugs, and bugs.
To be honest, I want to take the switch from my OPO, but one thing that is kind of stopping me is the roms currently available for it.
Great video man, but one question, is the blue backing on the moto x the same "royal blue" they have on the site or is it an exclusive colour? and if so where and how did u get it?
Watching this on my Moto XPE its a great buy for your money
+Fakiye Oladipupo Which storage option did you choose?
I chose the 16gb option hoping that marshmallow update will come early so I can use my 64gb SD as primary storage but now I'm kinda regretting it. I think 32gb is the best option to buy.
Fakiye Oladipupo Ah, I was debating about these two phones and the Galaxy S6. Do you remember how much storage space the X gave you out the box?
+Cairo it was about 9.6gb and I'm buying a s6 on thanksgiving too I just want to experience what people have been saying about it.
+Fakiye Oladipupo Nice!
The Moto X 2014 2nd gen is a great phone. I've got it and the Moto XPE .
Michael you really made a great case for the XPE, but I'm sticking with my N6P for its Aluminum build, fast updates, low light camera, and battery life.
NEXUS 6P IS MY CHOICE FOR STYLE AND OS STABILITY
+Christopher Tilley Yup! and that fingerprint sensor is dope af!
The iTech Lab Might want to contact Google about that since I have been using my Nexus 6P for months and have experienced zero burn in.
Great delivery again by Michael Fisher - many thanks - peace from London. x
2:14 ohhhh... yeah
that peeling
Greetings from the U.K.
Very impressed with your reviews Michael Fisher!
Keep up the brilliant work!
why does NOBODY mention burn-in on amoled screens?? I would consider that pretty important..
*****That sounds horrible...but those are just defective units, my point goes across all amoled panels...
I've never heard of that
+David Yang one is a manufacturing defect; the other is a clear limitation of AMOLED technology.
Watching this on a nexus 5X, honestly, I'm not impressed with the 5X... that's it :| I'm switching to the Moto X Pure Edition ASAP.
What don't you like about the phone ❓
+Freaky_Chic_Girl101 The screen & the speakers. Also, there isn't much difference between it & my old Nexus 5, I mean in terms of user experience. I would like to have something with more features + better screen & speakers. The camera though is very very good, the finger print sensor is awesome & it's a very light device as well :]
+iBraHiM TaShKaNDi You mean the "speaker", since it only has one right? I think that you should have gone with the 6p instead.
Thanks for the comparison Michael!! Was waiting for this!
What was that airplane game he was playing? Thx!
it says when he isplaying it
Time?
Modern air combat 3D
Thx
DY
super helpful review. loved the point by point comparisons and the actual video/photo/music evidence to back it up. will be subscribing and watching more reviews in the future. nice work guys!
Nexus 6p and its no brainer
got the mxpe, at first i was skeptical since it had the 808 processor and i didnt think it would be as fast as the 6p and since the screen isnt amoled, i like saturated colors. well my mxpe is rooted and has custom rom on android 6.0 installed for speed optimizations and removed all the bloat and just keep moto things we like, with the ROM im getting over 6 hours of on screen time. the kernel i used allows kcal settings which u can increase the saturation and contrast and get deeper blacks and more saturated colors. i never been so happy with this phone lol.. this mxpe is amazing, i recommend it
What rom?
I'd be down to download it.
But yea. I think that you can't go wrong with the 808 just because of the community.
Any snapdragon really. I was able to push 60K on my HTC One M8 on Antutu 6.1
+Bob Play trupurexmm 2.3.2 with v4tk uber optimized kernel, comes pre rooted and xposed ready
nexus 6 hands down
i really wanted this comparison video especially for these 2 phones. thanks for making clear of it. awesome video :)
Well done Michael. I have both phones and I happen to agree with you. I've shipped back my Nexus 6p. The Moto X felt much more comfortable in hand and the nexus was a little too tall (among other things).
I've been looking for this exact comparison. Great job!
I have the Note 5 and I just sold my Nexus 6 then ordered the Nexus 6P. I like the updates and camera on the 6P.
Moto X
Love the expandable memory.
Thank You for making this comparison video! It was a much needed one.
I have the Moto X Pure and love it. The SD slot is a huge plus. The camera works well and takes excellent pictures with the front and rear cameras. Battery life is good for a large screen phone and it charges super fast.
Another great video, Michael. Your craft is improving and improving.
Great review this is why I love PocketNow! You guys give some of the most objective non biased reviews. Keep doing what your doing!
I'm curious what Michael's daily driver is? I'm still on the X 2014... and love it!
hey Michael, does your opinion of the 6p still hold after that awful bend test that was performed on it?
Michael Fisher makes me watch phone reviews even if I just bought a phone already. I'll always stay with the significantly inferior Note series because of the stylus apps I can't study without, but if I didn't need them I'd go for either of these phones.
thanks for the great comparison. I just got a moto x pure for $100 box and all. he just didn't have the fast charger and I can't seem to find one online. any suggestions on where to get it? the nexus looks great and I would love to try that one soon.
Perfect review Mr. Fischer ! Thanks !
I was waiting for this review and got the perfect one.
I will go with the Moto X no doubt.
Is the Moto App Suite exclusive to select countries, or is it available worldwide? (like the integration with maps and stuff)
I love both but the Nexus 6P is one of a kind. Especially, when it comes to design.
I have the moto x pure and I'm waiting on my pre ordered 6p can't wait to see what's the best!!!
Thank you for mentioning outdoor visibility ! Keep up the good work
Great review. I'm somewhat considering the LG V10 - looks pretty incredible, PLUS expandable storage and removable battery.
Which colour is that you chose for Moto X back? Is it royal blue? I love the colour, but when I see it on its website, i can't find this colour but its only showing royal blue.
please let me know.
Thank you for telling us your personal choice. I think it's important instead of calling it a draw mostly.
I'm coming over from an iphone 5s (never had an android phone but have a tablet) what would you recommend?
Very excellent and fair review. You've just earned a new sub.
Great review, exactly what I was looking for.
Got my Nexus 6P about a week ago. It's stupidly fast. Hardware is wonderful. Props Huawei.
Yeeeeeees. Thanks for the comparison, Michael.
Please tell me which one is worth the price or any other option which gives haves more advantages than it should give for the price
still pretty undecided on which I will be choosing soon, as a Moto G user I'll moat likely be moving to the Pure / Style over the 6p.
Appreciate your reviews as always...
can i get moto x pure in 2017..?? I like it more than other devices out there...but is the battery life good on Nougat
