And it ended being on of the worst nexus phones of all time. The 810 was a space heater that got so hot it killed the battery. Then the mic had issues with noise canceling that made making calls impossible
There hasn't been another phone that exceeded everyone's expectations and delivered so much for the money like this one, truly the best phone of all time in a way.
Even by 2019 standards, that camera is dope.

I didn't even wait for reviews to come out. As soon as I saw the amazing spec sheet, reasonable price tag, and the build quality that just screams premium, AND 32GB starting storage thank you very much, I just pulled the trigger without thinking. Kind of a fanboyish move but oh well. Looks like it was the right choice, being praised by almost every reputable tech reviewers/reviewing sites. Android Authority, Android Police, TechnoBuffalo, PocketNow, MKBHD, even iVerge recommended it. :D

Touchwiz and less than mediocre battery life are what ruined the s6 for me. Also I don't get what it is about Samsung phones but they don't seem to manage the ram all that well either..

Typing this on a Nexus 6P right now, after having been a nervous-to-switch iOS user for years. Absolutely loving it.
[EDIT] Six years later. I only kept the phone for about two months. It became an absolute resource hog and slowed down like crazy.

+sean oliver Absolutely amazing, I am still surprised at times just how long its battery lasts, I have almost stopped taking power banks with me while out which was the case with my Nexus 4. Doze is a great feature.

Watching this on my 6p almost 2 years later...definitely one of the best experience i have had with a phone. While it starts to get warm and lag a little bit quicker than i want now, it serves me well over the two years.

Adrian Alob Honestly, I currently own an iPhone 5c and my previous phone was a some galaxy phone that i can't remember the name of. And after comparing the specs of the 6p and the 6s, I think I would be happier with the 6p. 1440p display, better camera, faster touch ID. The only thing i would've been worried about is not being able to use Apple Music anymore, but there's an Android app for that so no more worries.
I'm not gonna lie, I like Apple. I wasn't comparing Apple to Android by any means. I was comparing the quality of Huawei's new Nexus 6p to Apple's iPhone 6s. Not the OS, but the hardware.
+Adrian Alob Look here's the thing right, with Apple you're only paying for brand name which is exactly what my friend said who owns a iPhone 5s. The Nexus 6P is accepted as having overall better hardware than the iPhone (bigger battery, 1440p, 3 gb ram ect) and yet you can get the phone at 128GB storage and still be cheaper than a 16GB iPhone 6s and 6s plus. I have noticed the majority of Apple users don't do far as much research (if any) than android users.

+Armando Ferreira I understand why you'd say that, but I wouldn't say it's hands down BETTER than the Note 5.
For starters, the Note 5 has a nicer display - it's brighter and you can adjust the color settings.
From what I've seen it also has a better camera (though I woiuldn't say the one in the Nexus 6P is bad) especially considering that it has OIS and tons of manual controls.
Sound - well, the 6P has those dual front facing speakers, but while kinda tinny sounding, the mono speaker on the Note 5 is impressively loud and it's definitely not bad at all for what it is. However, the Note 5 has an impressive Wolfson DAC while the Nexus 6P just uses the Snapdragon one (I think). In any case, the Note 5 just sounds much better, and much louder with headphones.
Also there are things like the pen features, fast & wireless charging, multi window, a higher density defined in the OS which means that in-app interface elements are rendered proportionally smaller and you can get more content on your screen, like in a tablet. Also, if you don't like the design of the system, you can change the whole theme to accommodate your taste.
But if you're a Nexus fan, this is by far the best Nexus we've seen yet.
+Jesus Christ people say that when they haven't used one. it's Biasness.. I have a note 4 right now, and when I receive my Nexus 6P. I will miss things on the Note series. Camera, some "Gimmick" Features, dat S-Pen. And the fact it's literally the only phone I consider a Pocket PC. But, you have to compromise.. Unless Samsung makes a Google Edition Note with Front speakers.. haha..

***** TouchWiz used to be complete and utter shit, but as someone moving from an HTC One M9 (sense 7 is known to be an awesome UI) to a Note 5, I can tell you that the new version of TouchWiz is totally fine, there's no lag whatsoever. The aggressive ram management is easy to fix and the design is irrelevant as it completely depends on the theme you use.

Damn, I'm so tempted to get this 6P from my Nexus 5, but Android Marshmallow has given my Nexus 5 so much more life. It's at least twice as fast (Marshmallow) as it was on Android 5.xx and my battery is now lasting all day. I think I might be able to squeeze one more year out of it and get the next iteration of Nexus 6x device (hopefully).
+tsnorquist this is very true, my friend updated his Nexus 5 to Marshmallow and my not-a-Nexus phone on Lollipop which is smooth enough now almost feels laggy compared to slick buttery smooth Nexus 5, everything flows.
Sell your phone for $150 then buy the new Nexus 6P. easy

Yes! After about, what? Four years now, the battery *will* be shot. 😅 I recommend getting it replaced by Huawei though, I went by a third party 'phone repair shop' & they f'd up my shit. Never again, 1/10 wouldn't recommend.

I know this video is old but i think i know why it got Matt Damon only the second time.
The first time you clicked it, the keyboard was up so the text with Matt Damon's name in it was offscreen, so it just gave you the martian.
The second time, the keyboard was down and you could see Matt Damon's name physically on screen, so it included that. I think its very litteral about whats on screen so it doesn't pull from every previous message etc.

You can always buy it from America with a service such as hop ship go, which will save you $200 odd dollars. Or if you don't want that hassle, check out Kogan. They will give you an imported model for much cheaper. 64GB versions cost $899 NZD on there. Hope that helps

It's almost been a week since I picked up my 6P, and I absolutely love it!
The "32"GB (OS and all updates takes up 7GB, just a headsup) was on a pretty sweet sale, so of course I had to buy that one over the 150€ more expensive 64GB. I will get myself a Sandisk USB-C/USB 3.0 flashdrive some time this week as compensation (18€), so space isn't an issue. Or well, won't be for long.
Overall I'm absolutely loving it, gets kinda hot some times and the imprint is very buggy for me (it won't scan any finger unless it's in a really awkward position), but other than that it's the best phone I've ever had. Battery is charged within an hour, and the ability to mod it without having to root it is just awesome (sadly Google disabled the ability to switch place for the nav buttons in Nougat, really sucks for an ex-Samsung user).
Once Google Pixel is out, buy the 6P, it will be extremely cheap!

2022 here. This was my first Google phone and got this one back in 2015 and fell in love with it. Used it nonstop for 3 years. Have used the Pixel 2XL and Pixel 4a since then. Love Google phones but this one is still my favourite

Fayad Nilav the bending thing, if you'd careful you'll be fine, i slept on my phone by accident once for a good 2hrs, was fine, the performance slowing due to throttling is there, but not to the point it disturbs the experience.... except Google chrome can slowdown at times, what else you wanna know? I'm having this phone for almost 2 months, and the beta has minor glitches like the pull down toggles have no text, but a second pull fixes it ( though extremely rarely happens)

Its a great intro starter to Android if you coming from an IOS and never used an Android before. I'd recommend it if you're tired of your iPhone 6 and want something new. If you like your iPhone then stick with it.

+Marwan kassim By far. I used to have an iPhone 5, but I switched to a Nexus 5. Liked it so much, I got the 6P. The phone is fast, the screen, camera, and front speakers are awesome, and the fingerprint scanner is insanely quick. Best of all, it always has the latest updates. It would be super hard going back to an iPhone.
+Patrick Kemp My family has mixed opinions - mum is a 6s user, dad uses the Note 5 (soon to be the Note 7) and I have the S7 Edge but I pretty much use the 6P more because of the clear, stock Android. This phone is also really good if you travel a lot since you can use it internationally very easily.

I loved that phone, true signature design, I didnt sell it on purpose, time to time I pick it up and feels crazy good, but battery problems really killed it, had to replace battery every 6 months, still you'd get shutdowns at sometimes 30-40 if the phone is in good mood maybe shutdown at 15% but mostly around %30...

I just ditched my iPhone 6s for a 6p, so far I really like it. I miss somethings about the iPhone, but Android is pretty awesome too.
Wait till next android comes. Because that's going to this phone a hell of lot better. MKBHD has a video on Android N. That would erase all doubts in your mind about switching to Android from ios
The features that need to come back are Doze and now on tap. They were quite useful

Great review and cinematography, Marques. You'd probably have a lot of fun with a camera track slider. The camera review was the most important to me as I've come from Nexus 4, currently have a Nexus 5, and can relate to how bad they are. The overall feel and performance is why I overlook the camera's performance. I love photography (have a DSLR) so your review has me pretty amped up about the camera's significant improvement to finally capture some decent candid shots. Had a big laugh at your, "although that's not a high bar to clear," comment haha. Subscribed and looking forward to more videos! By the way, what do you think of the LG G5? Phone provider is offering it and a LG G Pad III tablet both for $0 on a 2-year plan. Save for the Nexus 6P instead? I have to say the modular aspect of the LG G5 has me really intrigued. Extremely cutting edge for any smartphone (if you're reading this comment, go check it out right now)! Plus a "free" tablet!

Even though MKBHD state that nexus 6p have a point n shot camera, but lg g4 f1.8 app totally beat the game here.
