    I really like ff2, but only the pixel remaster. They removed the minus to stats and that made it so much better. I also like the story, it is the little guy versus the big evil bad.

      I never played any version of FF2 until the Pixel Remaster, so I have nothing but lore to go off of. I LOVE this game. I started it and couldn't get into it because of the leveling system, but I was committed to playing through all of them. After I got the hang of it, I adore it. I like it more than I and III

      I never found the minus to stats to be that bad, but it was definitely a bit annoying. When I was trying to hyperfocus on making my characters a specific way, losing one stat in favor of making another was not that big of a deal. Having no penalty is great though, can't complain about it.

    Great tier list. I like the wording for the tier list. Better than S,A,B,C,D.
    I still have to get the pixel remasters and play them. I keep hearing that they are great. Better than the originals. But i think I'd almost prefer if they made them all like the PSP versions of ff11,2 and 4, the years after.

      Half of it isn't even used, ff4 loses the most compared to psp/3d versions (others a dungeon or a few classes/espers at most) and it's predictable. Honestly I'd prefer what Boost helps:
      1) most (ff2 stat growth/trap door encounters/ff6 espers/setzer)
      2) some (ff5 dualcast and ff1 for their super bosses), or
      3) hardly (ff3, even that damn Onion Knight needs character level to be 95-99 and random drops that don't help, with 5 defend/actions to job level, and ff4 has no customization and is easier than 3d, which had augments).
      None of the games are bad when optimized (and ff6 launch bugs fixed, like going back to world of balance).

    FF4 is the only entry in the Pixel Remasters that I personally don't feel is the definitive version of its respective game. It was also the first game I played in the series back on the SNES (and my first RPG, period), but I just honestly feel like the GBA, DS, Steam, and especially PSP versions all outclass PR.

      @@spencergsmith I won't have any argument to someone who tell me that FFVI is better than FFIV, I can hardly tell if I like more FFIV or FFVI. I personnally separated them by the fact that FFIV no character that haven't any impact on the story and FFVI has half the main character that it's the case. Graphic has no impact in my rating, graphic are better much time advance. Something I find boring in FFVI is that when you start having Esper and that everybody has magic, ability like Tool, Throw, Blitz, for exemple, lose their place and every character start to be the same. Story both are the best story of the franchise.

    This is a great explanation of how you regard each of these games and I always really enjoy varying perspectives. For your points on FF6, I 100% agree with you, as someone who was always one of the "SNES is the only way to play" people for nearly 30 years, the Pixel Remaster definitely did the game justice and made it accessible while also giving us some of the most beautiful orchestrated music in human history, and expecting much else short of a full-fledged Remake (like the treatment FF7 is currently getting) is getting way too nitpicky. Grateful that more people can experience FF6 because of Pixel Remaster.

      @@TheReturnersHideout I won’t spoil anything for yourself nor anyone else..but will only say that the game and characters draw inspiration from Final Fantasy 4. Some nice references in there as well. For myself, the main character Clive was very well written and acted. As was everyone within the game. A very human and believable hero. The game did an excellent job of “creating” this strong “force to be reckoned with” character within the story itself..instead of he being awesome “just because he is” like many stories do.

The SNES soundscape is unmatched, although I do like some of the remixed music of FFV but nothing compares to the original SNES FFIV soundtrack.
    I also LOATHE the overly bright graphics and extra pixelated unoutlined sprites of the pixel remaster.

    i've only just started getting though the pixel remasters and I'm pretty new to ff (FF7R was my first back in 2021). I've played 1,4, and I'm almost done with 6, and I've loved them all. 1 is a bit confusing without a guide ngl, but the cute time travel twist is fun. 4 is the one i would probs replay over and over again since it's story is more simple and party members switch automatically. As much as I loved the beginning of 6 and the WoB, I'm not really liking WoR as much. I guess I miss more action and story, and some of the back stories kinda feel tacked on to the end. Probs just a product of it's time tho.

    • @TheReturnersHideout
      @TheReturnersHideout  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing! Parts of the WoB can be a little slow, but it's all a part of the overall narrative. There is a point of frustration when you first start in the WoB where you don't seem as powerful as you once were, and the lack of other party members is really felt. It does pick back up and become fun again, but that whole segment is for you to feel as the characters felt: kinda lost and weird about everything.

  • @romannikonenko7325
    @romannikonenko7325 Месяц назад

    FF1 pixel is so darn easy, but Chaos battle is ridiculously tough with him casting fullheal over and over. FF2PR is probably worse than original (not joking) because of the paralysis status and the hilarious vitality effect on your HP so that you can slowly die on some enemies while they punch you on your paralyzed 3000HP+ face. FF3 Pixel is awesome, probably the best remaster over there, makes it (almost) perfectly balanced but the final boss still sucks in its lazy one-type AOE. FF4 is great but not much of a change imo. FF5PR was OK as every version of it always was. Still haven't played FF6 :)

    Ff6 pixel remaster is nothing but a miserable pile of glitches and soft locks. During my playthrough I got soft locked getting the cider making me refight the stupid octopus boss again. Then when I got back again went to steal the clothes the game soft locked in battle and guess what. I had to fight the stupid octopus boss for a 3rd time because there is no save point in-between those two parts of the game. Then near the end of the game I was grinding exp and the game crashed 4 different times while grinding I had to start saving after every battle while grinding because of it. All and all the pixel retrashed version of FF6 made me hate the game now to where I don't want to touch ff6 for a long long time. Never in my life have I played ff6 and had that horrible of an experience until the pixel retrashed version of the game. If I ever play ff6 again it will never ever be that version of the game.

    I came to absolutely adore FFII with the pixel remaster. But...the pixel remasters also reminded me that FFIV is dogshit as a game. It set story standards for everything that follows it, and introduced ATB, but it's just so on rails, and lacking any real player input and customization playing through it again was just miserable. The 3ds version of IV is the only one I could ever in good faith recommend to someone. I can't say I'm fond of III in any form though. Amazing music, job system feels less like choosing character classes and more like completely swapping out characters, and literally 30% of the game is final dungeon. I do agree with pixel remaster is the overall best version of V and VI though.
