Love that you don't just look at the artifacts and their abilities, but also combines them with their availability and the effort to get them, to place them on your tier list
And what does the Horn of the abyss actually do?
Pendent (?) of curage : imune to curse ;-)
Whenever you kill units with horn of the abyss equipped you get a stack of fangarms to rise immediately in battle. These guys stay with you after the battle tho, so they're infinitely farmable. Very op stuff :D

Great Vid, thanks Lex! One thing that would have made it even better for me, would have been the artifacts description/ability on screen as you rate it. I had to keep a second window open looking up each item as you addressed it. Thats probably a lot more editing though. I enjoyed it regardless and look forward to more!
Love the explanation, especially considering things like likelihood of getting, alternatives etc. Well done! Could you do a video listing the best starting heroes for the towns depending on the template. Especially for towns which dont have clear choices like shakti or galthran.

The extras of Elixer of life doesn't work on undead and whatnot, but it's still so useful for necro in late game. Going from 6 hp per skeleton to 10 hp is insanely good.

Cornucopia gives +4 of every precious resource, not 2; so 5 in total! Pretty good thing to have on one of the supporting heroes. If you have surplus resources, you can sell them for nice amount of gold; the more towns you have, bigger the value!

berserk is an underrated spell, and by proxy the pendant that make your troups imune to it is underrated as well

Hello, I know it will require some additional editing on your part but I would like to shoot in here that some people would like to see the artifact's effect bonus while you talking about them. Like for instance when talking about the Angelic Alliance, taking the effort to edit in the gold cost + effect in text for viewer to read would be helpful, at least for me. Seeing that 35% of your screen is "unused" black area, text could be there so not blocking the main image or facecam. The way you say Angelic Alliance is S-tier makes us understand it is good, but seeing the specs of the artifact would be awesome. Great tier list video. Keep it up!

I watch you mathematically run the numbers on each individual attack, position your units, know hero movement (from memory), and conquer countless opponents who don't have your skill. Hell, I don't think that I could ever beat you. Your mathematical skills are impressive. I have to work. I can't spend 8 hours a day in Erathria.

Content is amazing. Try to edit some shorter videos like half an hour for example. It will help you with yt reach (thats how i came here btw). But back to video, a lot of detailes and each point was justified I loved this

I agree with most of what u said, with the exception of the gold bags and the statue parts
Don't sacrifice those, u can never have enough money, just give it to a crap hero, one who's not gunna get killed or one u use to run around throughout the week and get ur windmills and such in the areas, and the statue parts, u can never have enough troops, and with the bags, u can afford them... plus the 3 bags combine to make a bag that gives u 5k gold a day, u missed that
Hey Lexiav, great video! By any chance have you thought about making a "10 things I would change about HOTA" type of video? Many players are overall happy with things like changes to the Spell School, giving Tower Genie lamps and adding Interference and removing Resistance. But Necropolis is still quite over powered, Luna is still Luna and Inferno still sucks. I'd be really interested to know what you think could be done to this amazing game to make it even better!
Alright Lex. You've made a million videos. I have high respect. I haven't seen you make a "Lexiav masters map" yet. Use the map editor, my brother. Maybe, just maybe, you can teach me something that I've missed. You would never believe the time it takes to design a map. I've been creating maps for this game since the 90's. I know, HotA changed some things. I'm extremely grateful. Make a map. Create a video of your progress. Be my hero......again.

To this day i try to place the ring of the magi and the armor of the damned on my head and mistake the angle wings and the shoes with wings that make you walk over water 😂
Barbarian axe of ferocity should be higher - insta mass haste, bloodlust makes good work of enemies + it can counter most of effects of armor of the damned in some encounters (+ soon slow will be nerfed in HoTA meaning haste become better in comparison).

@Lexiav can you go over the difference a shield with +5 vs one with +7 defense has on damage taken? For instance, I have a hero with all 0 stats, and a +5 shield. A stack of two Arch Angels hits me. How much damage do I take? And then how much do I take with a +7?

The wizard's well gives you mana at the beginning of your turn, not the end. It matters because if your opponent attack you you won't have the mana yet.
Pretty standard for all recovery methods though. If you are blue I think you do have mana if red attacks, but not vice versa

Just found this channel now so basically commenting it a year later. But some recommendation is that our could rank and sort them in similar items first such as all plus attack, defense, SP, or knowledge items u could talk about them first and then move on to the next group so that it's easier yo follow. Also if u can put the actual text of what the artifact does on the side would be extremely helpful. Thanks for the content

I've always been curious, early on in a game and you get a resource arty, why wouldn't you equip these on side heroes?

You made a few mistakes, you have mistaken the Endless Bag of Gold with the Endless Sack of Gold, Cornucopia actually gives 5 resources every day so it is at least low c tier, Royal Armor of Nix gives you 6 power not 7.

9:30 You forgot to mention that Badge of Courage has actually a secret effect due to a bug in SOD. It gives your units immune to Blind spell. I think this was fixed in HotA. Nevertheless, a common item in the Hardcore maps (like Xiedu, Way Home and Metataxer Revenge). So if it is for a SoD version, I will put it in low A tier. :D

@@TheShootingStarKing interesting that he said that Fear got dropped as being unbalancing and they forgot to change the helptext about this item. Wasn’t Azure dragon present after the patch they mention? He still had Fear iirc
@@xxi7052 Fear was going to be a spell, that's what it's talking about. heroes.thelazy.net/index.php/Fear_(spell) Kind of like Blind but you could attack them without them losing the debuff.
Love your content on this game I used to play a lot for the lasts 25 year! But I don't see the barbarian axe? I had it once on some recent patch. allow melee unit to attact twice!
I love getting shackles of war if I’m ahead in game and collect all artifacts from battles,just hate surrendering...
on cape of silence: it is extremely potent if you want to use berserk! they won't be dispelled for sure.

The statue of legend increase the castle creature growth by 50% in ALL YOUR TOWN.
Also the fire orb is pretty OP if you have armageddon spell.
Since I primarily is Level 1 and 2 spells anyway, when I’m facing a mage the cloak prevents summoning elementals and resurrection which often is the difference in me winning the battle. Wish it was more readily available.
The one thing I would suggest for these videos is for you to put some background music from the games as they are very long and it kinda gets stale being so quiet

Surprised to see the cornucopia placed so low. Its an excellent artifact to give to a stationary hero. Like, it's worth it to buy a hero and have them garrisoned in some castle and equip cornucopia, legion pieces, sack of gold, etc.
Yeah but you just can't ignore the fact it takes 4 different artifacts to combine which makes it very rare, and for being so rare it's use is pretty shit.
@@dejanf8168 Their use is not shit. They usually make the difference whether you can or cannot afford the "special" dragons.
An I'm usually happy if I get the cart of lumber very early in the game if I play rampart. So much wood needed. A bit like Ore and Castle.

i might not be completely right on this because i can't seem to download HotA for some reason,
but ring of the magi with blind+disrupting ray, which are 2 spells that are easy to get, allows you to just reduce the defense skill of a stack of archangels to 0 after you kill their other units.

why do you feel resource generating items to be bad? I would think they would be pretty decent resource income to keep on your extra heroes

Arms of legion gain +2 tier 5 unit, 2 extra liches to example every week are noticabe boost in early and mid game.
I think the one that gives you level 3 or 4 are the best of that type of artifact as the number of extras it gives you is significant and 3 or 4 include some of the best units in the game. Royal Griffins, vampires, ogres

I don't get how to combine artifacts in multiplayer, i got the complete edition but how do i combine them in multiplayer if even possible?

For the Resource producing artifacts, I hire a Hero with Gold specialty, give him/her all those artifacts and place the hero on a Sanctuary so enemy heroes can't reach him/her. That is like having extra mines of resources. I wouldn't sacrifice any of those artifacts if i were you.
His only explanation for ranking the +1 resource artifacts so poorly is that they are not good enough to qualify as major artifacts. Even though how the game developer chose to categorize artifacts has little bearing on actual usefulness of said artifacts (only affecting availability).

Why do you value attack above defense? I personally find defense way more annoying to play against
I managed to win one game with Cape of Silence against an enemy who had AotD, which ended up casting only sorrow. It's great against the Ironfirst of the Ogre aswell. The 3-5 cloak works against AA and disables it's prayer, which is great aswell.
Sphere of Permanence - you missed the point, that you can still dispell curses from your own units using cure spell instead, meanwhile the enemy can't dispell your blessings(only counter-attack them, f.e slow vs haste - not all can be, for example prayer has no counter), and dispelling only works on your opponent, but doesn't affect you, which makes this item one of the most broken items in this game to my opinion, which is such a big of misunderstanding that you put it on lowest tier.

Yes
S tier must include Shackles, Helm heavenly, orb of inhibition, recanters cloak. You have the last two in B! B!. They shut down armageddon or implosion spellcaster enemies.
People say that the cart of lumber brings you luck. For that reason, it is even called "the cart of victory"! The cart of ore, on the other hand, is called "the cart of half-victory"
It's a shame heroes 3 doesn't have a massive fanbase, you put alot of effort into videos, I could see you blowing up if you covered other games
It has quite a massive fanbase, given that the game is now 24 years old.
this game has one of the hugest fanbase among all the games. whenever I ask someone if one player and enjoyed some franchise they respond to most titles that I thought are super popular (like lets say Elder Scrolls or Mount&Blade or STALKER) but they always say that thay know and/or enjoyed Heroes 3 a lot. Plust lots of games have mods dedicated to replicating Heroes 3 on that game engine so there are people who actually invest lots of time and love into that universe.

Great video. Few things to suggest for future videos.
First, you should work a bit on the microphone, it's a bit too quiet.
Second, you should start the video with explaining some of the mechanics of said rankings and how/why you grade things based on the mechanics and usability (not only pure power).
Example in this case would be - item rarity and what does that mean.
Third, while we all like long videos, this one could be cut into separate categories (in my opinion) for each different item slot. Easier to digest and would put items which compete with each-other in much clearer view for the new guys interested in this classic of a game.
That's my constructive criticism, please, keep up the good job and have luck ... and high moral as well ... and extra movement speed !

lol air orb in B tier? do you think the same now? when you playing mainly JO? Also I dont like Necklace all stats + 3, its still best item for Necklace, so in my opinion its still S. when shield +4 is in TOP of S, Necklace should be at botom of S. In fact, when you get all +4, in that time you are having +3,+3 or sometimes + 12 defense, so Necklace sometimes better than shield.... The last thing is altrar of sacrifice is Sphere of Permanence. In JO you have almost everytime powerstack, which you want to prayer and lock. if oponent has unit with higher speed he can wait, dispel you at the end of round and next round start with berserk. for JO is Sphere of Permanence min. Tier A in my opinion. maybe S for some fractions , like when you have nix or efrets powerstack. question mark is golden gose, again for JO template. with diplo its very powerfull item. But on other items I strongly agree. Thanks for ranking

You are missing a very important Hidden function of the badge of course, it prevents mind spells like blind yo he casted on your units
that was a Shadow of Death bug that got fixed in HotA!
I don't understand why the Hourglass is in the D tier while the Spirit of Opression is in the A tier. Is there a such gap between luck and morale for the about same like-effect?
Spirit of opression prevents you from morale death, like taking an angel dwelling and the angel isn't going to morale.

It does not, it was patched in Horn Of The Abbys, and this list is on Horn Of The Abbys.

I don't know if you mentioned, but badge of courage also gives you mind spell immunity, so it's better than the crest of valor.
In Hota it doesn't but otherwise yes, it's amazing

I don't get it why he puts gold, resources and legion parts to altar of sacrafice when you can give them to your hero in town and farm everything. I know in 1vs1 you have only 1 hero but he mentions sometimes that something is good on side hero so what's going on???
I agree with everything, except Pendant of Dispassion, for me it's S tier. I regret all games where I used anything other than it :)
