Buying a Car Doesn't Have to Suck™ - Авто/Мото
"My car's only driving on one cylinder and three wheels..." That's the laugh I needed this morning, Thanks!
THE BOXING DAY GOT ME HARDER! LOL
@@baldisaerodynamic9692 me too!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Yeah, he drives and Elio
Could be worse, could be on 3 cylinders and 1 wheel.
I missed the part as to why you had to send him back money. He was buying a car from you and "paid" for it with the phony check so why are you sending him money?
I was thinking the same thing.. I'm confused.
I think he left something out of the story. I was wondering the same thing.
They always send more and expect you to give them "change" before the check bounces.
He did mention "shipper". Usually the scammer sends the purchase price plus extra you are supposed to forward on to the shipper. Either the shipper is actually them, or a problem arises where they can't use the shipper so they need you to send them back the extra.
The check is part of the scam. Usually they contain another persons information, so had Mike cashed the check, it might have gone through, but it could later cause a fraud alert and investigation.
The only doctor I know who buys a $4000 vehicle is Dr. Johnny Fever (Old dudes will know who this is).... These scammers are out of control.
WKRP.
also based in ohio, as well.
We even had a scammer wanting to "buy" a goat. I messed with him for a couple weeks.
Jim browning is a English man in England. He specializes in destroying scammers. I love watching his channel. He actually gets into their computers. Mike its amazing just how much these scammers make every month.
Where can I see this guy doing his thang to to all these scammers ? Would love to see that lol 😂
He's infact so good at this I thought for a while it was fake or scripted sort of like reality tv
Then I saw a video where he mentioned the team that work with him and thought that makes so much more sense now
The way to really make an internet scammer cringe is to send a message saying that you will not close the deal unless the person sends a digital photo of themselves with a plastic bucket full of fresh caught fish balanced on the head while standing on one foot.
Love that you played him at this own game … well done Mike
Hello Mike, That was one of the best instructional videos on how to scam a scammer that I have ever viewed. You Rock. Thanks again.
The sad part is these scams work, I pray it's not a high percentage but they must since they keep going on.
That’s so very kind of you of what you’re doing. May God bless you and your business. Many people need help in this time.
As an owner of a detail shop I get texts like this all the time. People will ask prices for high end service on multiple vehicles and then try to “overpay” in advance for these services that never get done and then they want you to refund their money back to them.
The best video from Chevy Dude for sure.
I’m digging your free car program, brother! I like that stuff!
..scammer payback.....Great channel 👍
Way to go C.D.,that was a great public service video! I love it when you can stick it to the bad guy!
Love the program! You’re doing good work
That was great! Next time mail him a Dunkin Donut card with 30 cents on it with a note that has his amount he requested on it!🤣😂🤣
This was awesome, I appreciate the effort you went through to get the scammer. They are a dime a dozen as the do not call system the federal government put into place is worthless. Amazing he actually sent you some money!
Love the Keys to Empower program. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video Mike!
thank you for sharing the story about the scamming.. its really educational! keep it up!
Good awareness video! I work in banking and I can tell you that too many people fell for this scam, unfortunately.
This was an awesome twist to your normal videos!
A 10 year old would know that's a scam
Well the title is a bit of a half truth. It said he got scammed but he really did not.
So glad you were able to determine he was a scammer. He sounded like he was part of a ring.
it was obvious- all scammers have the same words and bad english
Wow great job putting this together!
I recently had a similar experience selling a vehicle on ebay. After a few emails with the buyer I knew something was amiss. I sold the vehicle to him for $40k. The buyer sends me a check for $45k. Huge red flag there. I called the bank where the check was issued from and within seconds they told me the check was fake. What the buyer wanted me to do was since he wrote the check for 5k more than what he originally paid for it and send him a $5k check via PayPal and a few other companies. He said he made a mistake writing the correct amount. Nobody makes a 5k mistake when buying a vehicle that originally sold for 40k. After playing around with him for a few days I sent him a message saying "game over". I told him I knew what he was doing and should feel ashamed for trying to scam me. I told him he could go to prison for what he did along with a few other things. Funny thing is he replied saying I was right and now felt bad for trying to take advantage of me and other people. I kept in touch with him for awhile and low and behold he got a job with a technology company making fairly good money. He said he got to thinking about what I had told him and decided to turn his life around. That made me feel so good knowing that I helped him to be on the straight and narrow.
Scammer pay back is the bomb!
Lol this is amazing to have you do this to one of them and take advantage of others.
Good catch, Mike and Team.I like the way you handled it 😅
@8:12... Wait, how did we get to you sending him anything? He sent you a check for a car. I would expect the next thing would be for you to ask where to ship the car. Why would you send him cash if he sent you a check for a car?
Yep, lost me there too.
Yoooo I've been watching scammer payback for some time now. This is the third video I've seen of you and you mentioned scammer payback. 😅 looking forward to seeing more videos.
I love that you did that. I get scams all the time and I'll do the same thing. I'll play with them and drag it out for the same reason, if they're busy with me, they're not taking advantage of someone else.
That's not even a drivers license. Its an identification card.
But still expired
If he’s buying the car, why would you be sending him money?
Its simple, they send you a check that is for the amount of the car and a delivery service to pick up the car and take ti wherever they want it. The check is for way ove the price of the car and service. Then they tell you after you cash the check to send them the extra money back. I had a guy try it when I sold my old T-Bird for engine only. I was selling car for 400 bucks and got a check for 4000. The name on the check was for an electrian company in Florida, but he was in Colorado suposedly. I googled the company and called them. They informed me there was no way they would use company checks for something like that. Course I knew the scam and was only calling to let them know they were being used in a scam.
Pleasant green is great!!!! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Beware of opening these attachments in these emails, the scam might be to have you open that and nothing to do with the car... if the device you are on has permissions to install software then opening an attachment like this could kick off an install in the background silently. If that happen the application could start sending all your data from that PC to them or install a remote tool that allows them to connect remotely without knowing.
Thank you so much for that bit of exceptional entertainment. Reminds me of when I almost fell for a Kijijji scam to sell two cameras to a scammer. I only picked up on it when his address was a place in Nigeria. So he and I had quite a long discussion about his dishonesty and it was none too friendly. At one point he tried to justify his actions by saying that over there they have nothing and we are so rich here in Canada. Well he go a lesson in profanity (which I learned early in life working with American GI's from the south), and I hung up feeling a little self satisfied....not my greatest moment for sure but it sure made me feel better....:))
The 3 youtubers I watch the most 😊
The best one is the IRS one...I strung a scammer along for a good hour ( I was bored and wanted to mess with him) and he said his piece and I said " your the IRS....you guys owe me money!...give me my money!...he said F you and hung up. I couldn't stop laughing
Why would you send him money, when he paid you for the car? Did he pull the old write you a check for too much and want a refund?
Scammers are to easy and friendly to entrap you. Your spidey senses are tingling 😊
Got hit with one of those scams back in 2016, lost over a grand. Was at a low point and wasn't paying attention.
You click baited me Mike. You weren’t actually scammed! You never explained how it went from the guy buying a car to you sending him money. This video was all over the place.
Rewatch it
Wait, he, or someone, mailed it via USPS, that means someone committed postal fraud. I'd (not ID, really, I mean I'd) reach out to the USPS with this. Somebody, somewhere, someone working in concert with Ron, committed some serious felonies.
Duh
They hire dimwitted Americans to act as the money and mail mules.
Where have you been living?
Common knowledge
It's not even a license.. just a state ID card lol.. Gotta love scammer payback- dude is great
Great job. Love it.
Great job my friend. 😊
This is awesome! we have scammers call all the time at work .we let them go threw there nonsense. they we make up credit cars numbers. They come back and say that's not a real number. I assure them yes it is run it again. they get tired of are nonsense and hang up!
I'm enjoying your videos. How would you deal with a salesperson trying to get you to buy a more expensive model. I am in the near future going to buy a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Work truck.
I only want a few extra options. The turbo plus engine is the most expensive option we want. Then the sliding rear window and center console with the AC vents.
Nice work bro!!
This scam is one of the oldest and most talked about ones there is. Sure hope people aren't still falling for it.
There are and always will. Unfortunately!
They do or it wouldn’t continue
Glad you knew about Pleasant Green and involved him. He's the master.
That happens a lot in car business. But that happened to me through my bank. But everything worked itself out. People cramming to be with the bank. That's next level scamming.
🤣🤣 It's a classic, great video 👍
good stuff, I have seen that scam a few times
You need the pleasant green sound affect when thr scammer clicks the link
Did you not realize that's an I d, not a driver's license, it says non driver
Love your videos~
Interesting video. Just had a similar exp selling a motorcycle on cycletrader. Guy(Robert Doyle) seemed legit and sent a bank check, above selling price. When I took it to the bank (same bank as check), teller immediately recognized it as illegitimate. I texted him check was invalid and never heard from him again
Yeah I had a guy send a fake check for Woodforest Bank. We’d worked with their checks before so our GM immediately knew the check was fraudulent because the routing number wasn’t for Woodforest Bank.
Doctors usually buy Hyundai's from small lots sight unseen... 🤣
those scams are always worded the same - anytime there is cashier check and mover its a scam
We had a similar situation. A guy sent my wife a check to be a mystery shopper. The company address on the check, the return address on the envelope and the bank were three different states. Contacted Postal Inspection and FBI. No one cared.
best video you have ever made! 😂
I do not understand, why would Mike’s car store send money to the buyer? Did the scammer say he no longer wanted the vehicle? Asking to return his purchase money? If the scammer sent you a check and the bank gave Mike’s car store cash, then you should have sent the scammer the car. If you did not either give the scammer a vehicle or his money back, that is called fraud. If the bank rejected the check, then Mike’s car store was just leading the scammer down the path, just to make a video.
Yeah i feel like a missing chunk was not included in the vid
Same here. It doesn’t matter where he is from if he purchased car and the check was good
It was in the thumbnail. These guys send a check for more than the amount agreed upon and expect the overage back.
@@mexicanspec Thanks, now it makes sense, Mike did not explain that. He still has a cashiers check though. It the check good or not, we still do not know.
Thank you. Didn’t see it in the thumbnail
Why are you sending him cash when your suppose to sending a car?
Epic Phone call. Car running on 1 cylinder and 3 tires 😆
It's funny to think that this scammer was going to try and get a car with an expired non-driver license.
They count on people not checking the information, and having worked in a dealership I can confirm I’ve caught a lot of oversights that our people needed to correct to complete a deal.
The subject title was sneaky. 😉 At first I thought you were successfully scammed despite getting all the red flags. Made me curious to keep watching to see how it would all play out.
You know what would be cooler? Why not head directly to the manufacturer instead of going through a middleman?
*Car manufacturers can not sell directly to consumers because most states have laws that prohibit it.*
That would be too cheap and convenient to only produce cars people want for a price they'd pay.
I hear what you’re saying and on new cars I’d be ok with it but guaranteed OEMs do not want to be in the used car business
This is a pretty common scam whether it is for a car at a dealership or you’re selling something on FB Marketplace.
That and the “I’ll send you a code for you to verify your identity” trick. Basic stuff for anyone on the internet.
Couple points: You do not have to have a license in the US if you are a doctor, nor any other form of ID not required of any other citizen.
It is not in any way illegal to mail cash within the US. Overseas, anything over 10k must be declared(may have been lowered to 5k now). At least that is US law, the recipient's nation may have other laws.
Someone tried this same scam on me when I was selling a boat on Boat Trader. If they want to buy something without personally seeing the item, it's a scam.
Here’s the best advice. It’s not 1999 anymore. Don’t accept private party cashiers checks. Period. Cash, or ACH only.
That’s awesome you giving things away. You haven’t gave an update on what the place looks and what’s up on the wall skateboard?
It's a Hoverboard movie prop replica from Back to the Future Part 2.
Signed by MJF himself 😍
I get scam attempts every single time I post something. Bottom line we will meet in person, the cash will be exchanged and checked via counterfeit pen and then the deal can be completed, oh and know that I am packing heat just in case. I have been trying to sell 2 dirt bikes for a few months now and probably 70% of responses are scam attempts, most of the rest are people wanting me to deliver a $300 bike hundreds of miles away.
Love Pleasant Green!! Does awesome e work to keep people safe!
I put a Corvette on AutoTrader the first day I had eight offers, all saying they were going to send a certified check. I did receive one check for 5,000 more than I was asking for it was a fraudulent check I'm not sure what they are trying to, get me to send the title?
Makes think if Autotrader is safe to use.
You should have brought the check to the bank. They copy bad checks and send them out to every bank. This keeps the scammers from using that fake check anywhere else. He'll have to make a new fake check to continue the scam.
1 question: What happen to the bank check received by the scammer?
Got a lil excited when he mentioned Pleasant Green and scammer payback
I work for a credit union and I see tons of Members lose money in so many scams. A lot of times the elderly and a TON of money.
Mike if you look at the Drivers license it says non driver. Just a state ID. Send him Monopoly Money. Mike I was selling a Like new Cub Cadet tractor on Craigs list and I got an email from somebody that said they lived out of the country and wanted to buy it. Had it listed for $3500. Told me they would send a check for $7000 and wanted me to ship the tractor to Spain and keep whatever was left. Took the check to my bank and they called the bank that it was drawn on and they said the account and the bank codes did t match their bank. Sent an email back to them saying the check bounced and told them to send me another one. Never heard after that.
When we got a scammer check, I called the bank it was drawn on. They told me it was a fraud and knew about it.
"Who's the scammer here? DON'T answer that!" 🤣😂😅🙃
Good for you. Those POS deserve to get played. I had one try to scam me.Cant discuss it here but they had my heart thumping in my chest.
I want that hoverboard, where did you get it?
Dang they straight up finessed my boy... Caught em lackin' and they handled they business.. come on man you didn't have to do my homie Chevy dude like that...
So did the check he send u bounce?
I absolutely LOVE messing with scammers!
Keep stringing them along. The longer the better.
Their "bosses" will cane them or worse if they don't get money from you.
I missed the part as to why the money had to be returned. Was the mailed check fake and the bank rejected the check deposit. Was the deal to buy the car cancelled and then then the buyer asked to have his money sent back to him immediately before the check he mailed bounced at the bank. These points seemed to have been left out of the video.
I was thinking the same thing. No explanation in the video, unless I missed it.
Good Job!!! 😊
The out of order sign lol
I knew you would’ve linked up with Scammer Payback 😂
I liked how Mike said, I can’t drive my car is running on 3 wheels and 1 cylinder 🤣.
yep I almost got scammed by somebody in Nigeria years ago too. the birthplace of scammers
By clicking the attachment can't they put malware on your pc?
You would have to be pretty out of touch to fall for a scam like this, but clearly there are people that do or they wouldn’t do it.
Rachel spelled driver's (driers) wrong in the first reply. Maybe she was using scammer spelling lol. Great vidoeo.
Why would you need a drivers license to be a Dr.? A state ID is all you would need
I reply that is fine, 90 day wait for the check to clear and they pay the shipper direct. I am selling the the vehicle for a person at the local PD and they will verify everything is legit after the check clears. That will be another 90 day wait, total of 6 months wait. Is that OK with you? I never hear back....
MIKE YOU LEGEND 💀
