He did mention "shipper". Usually the scammer sends the purchase price plus extra you are supposed to forward on to the shipper. Either the shipper is actually them, or a problem arises where they can't use the shipper so they need you to send them back the extra.

The check is part of the scam. Usually they contain another persons information, so had Mike cashed the check, it might have gone through, but it could later cause a fraud alert and investigation.

The way to really make an internet scammer cringe is to send a message saying that you will not close the deal unless the person sends a digital photo of themselves with a plastic bucket full of fresh caught fish balanced on the head while standing on one foot.

I recently had a similar experience selling a vehicle on ebay. After a few emails with the buyer I knew something was amiss. I sold the vehicle to him for $40k. The buyer sends me a check for $45k. Huge red flag there. I called the bank where the check was issued from and within seconds they told me the check was fake. What the buyer wanted me to do was since he wrote the check for 5k more than what he originally paid for it and send him a $5k check via PayPal and a few other companies. He said he made a mistake writing the correct amount. Nobody makes a 5k mistake when buying a vehicle that originally sold for 40k. After playing around with him for a few days I sent him a message saying "game over". I told him I knew what he was doing and should feel ashamed for trying to scam me. I told him he could go to prison for what he did along with a few other things. Funny thing is he replied saying I was right and now felt bad for trying to take advantage of me and other people. I kept in touch with him for awhile and low and behold he got a job with a technology company making fairly good money. He said he got to thinking about what I had told him and decided to turn his life around. That made me feel so good knowing that I helped him to be on the straight and narrow.

    • @NatesHomeTours
      @NatesHomeTours 11 месяцев назад +1

Its simple, they send you a check that is for the amount of the car and a delivery service to pick up the car and take ti wherever they want it. The check is for way ove the price of the car and service. Then they tell you after you cash the check to send them the extra money back. I had a guy try it when I sold my old T-Bird for engine only. I was selling car for 400 bucks and got a check for 4000. The name on the check was for an electrian company in Florida, but he was in Colorado suposedly. I googled the company and called them. They informed me there was no way they would use company checks for something like that. Course I knew the scam and was only calling to let them know they were being used in a scam.

Beware of opening these attachments in these emails, the scam might be to have you open that and nothing to do with the car... if the device you are on has permissions to install software then opening an attachment like this could kick off an install in the background silently. If that happen the application could start sending all your data from that PC to them or install a remote tool that allows them to connect remotely without knowing.

Thank you so much for that bit of exceptional entertainment. Reminds me of when I almost fell for a Kijijji scam to sell two cameras to a scammer. I only picked up on it when his address was a place in Nigeria. So he and I had quite a long discussion about his dishonesty and it was none too friendly. At one point he tried to justify his actions by saying that over there they have nothing and we are so rich here in Canada. Well he go a lesson in profanity (which I learned early in life working with American GI's from the south), and I hung up feeling a little self satisfied....not my greatest moment for sure but it sure made me feel better....:))

I do not understand, why would Mike’s car store send money to the buyer? Did the scammer say he no longer wanted the vehicle? Asking to return his purchase money? If the scammer sent you a check and the bank gave Mike’s car store cash, then you should have sent the scammer the car. If you did not either give the scammer a vehicle or his money back, that is called fraud. If the bank rejected the check, then Mike’s car store was just leading the scammer down the path, just to make a video.

You know what would be cooler? Why not head directly to the manufacturer instead of going through a middleman?
*Car manufacturers can not sell directly to consumers because most states have laws that prohibit it.*
That would be too cheap and convenient to only produce cars people want for a price they'd pay.

Couple points: You do not have to have a license in the US if you are a doctor, nor any other form of ID not required of any other citizen.
It is not in any way illegal to mail cash within the US. Overseas, anything over 10k must be declared(may have been lowered to 5k now). At least that is US law, the recipient's nation may have other laws.

Mike if you look at the Drivers license it says non driver. Just a state ID. Send him Monopoly Money. Mike I was selling a Like new Cub Cadet tractor on Craigs list and I got an email from somebody that said they lived out of the country and wanted to buy it. Had it listed for $3500. Told me they would send a check for $7000 and wanted me to ship the tractor to Spain and keep whatever was left. Took the check to my bank and they called the bank that it was drawn on and they said the account and the bank codes did t match their bank. Sent an email back to them saying the check bounced and told them to send me another one. Never heard after that.

When we got a scammer check, I called the bank it was drawn on. They told me it was a fraud and knew about it.

I absolutely LOVE messing with scammers!
Keep stringing them along. The longer the better.
Their "bosses" will cane them or worse if they don't get money from you.

I missed the part as to why the money had to be returned. Was the mailed check fake and the bank rejected the check deposit. Was the deal to buy the car cancelled and then then the buyer asked to have his money sent back to him immediately before the check he mailed bounced at the bank. These points seemed to have been left out of the video.

I was thinking the same thing. No explanation in the video, unless I missed it.

You would have to be pretty out of touch to fall for a scam like this, but clearly there are people that do or they wouldn’t do it.

Rachel spelled driver's (driers) wrong in the first reply. Maybe she was using scammer spelling lol. Great vidoeo.

Why would you need a drivers license to be a Dr.? A state ID is all you would need

I reply that is fine, 90 day wait for the check to clear and they pay the shipper direct. I am selling the the vehicle for a person at the local PD and they will verify everything is legit after the check clears. That will be another 90 day wait, total of 6 months wait. Is that OK with you? I never hear back....
