Minimal D&B: Mid Bass Growls in Serum [5 Steps]
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- I show you simple steps on how to make mid bass growls found on many minimal neuro drum & bass tracks by artists such as Skeptical, Alix Perez, Enei and Break. The V-Shaped Mid Bass Growl was one of the first mid bass sounds I learned how to make. Back then I did it on the Virus B hardware synth. I show you how to make it in Serum as well as adding FX to make the growl come alive.

Stranjah, what I really like is that you don't talk too fast. Too many tutorials on YT sound like the dude is wired on energy drinks. Thanks
sickkk literally hear myself progressing so much when looking at older projects thanks to you
Comments like these is what makes a teacher happy. Keep it up and feel free to show me your progress!
bruh, i couldn't have hoped for a better tutorial
Stranjah, you are a fucking legend, mate. Your tutorials are always so helpful!
Thank you Jelle that means alot!
Very nice, the use of the envelope was an eye opener for me, pure DNB, science right here, thank you🇬🇧Be safe🌻
Cheers Keety, yes you can get more wild results using the LFO as an envelope!
You are a great teacher dude. And that's coming from a highschool physics teacher. Well done.
These tutorials are fucking sick m8, no bs straight to the BASS
Thanks bro, I'm trying my best, there's a lot of competition out there, so I'm glad you like!
You know when someone makes a music production tutorial uploads it. You get a small taster of what its about and the sounds being made. Now you wanna hit your studio again. Well for me. This is one of them - Nice one !
Your videos are exactly what I've been looking for. Love these old bass lines and then you add a modern twist to some. Sick channel mate.
G you are too cold with it I smile with u when you’re cooking this 🔥 hella inspiration from these videos too man
Sweet, I liked your crafty reuse of the patch using the LFO and octave shift at the end.
This is the most concise, easy to follow video on how to achieve this type of sound I have seen yet................. and I have been watching the making of "Growl basses" videos for like 20 years now LOL.......................................... Well done STRANJAH, this is exactly what I have been looking for .. You are a Champ !
Bloody good work mate.
Thank you!
One word: Legend
75k Subs later. Good shit man!
Biggest of ups STRANJAH
Here is a tip, instead of unison use the same wave table in both osc a & b and just pan left & right. Then turn the rand to 0. Now you have much more control of the phase instead of using rand.
Thanks for the free Serum pack. Very good!
You are incredible man wow
thank you!
Bro i love your videos! Helps me a lot! THNX!
The legend himself! It's been long overdue my dude :) I hope we get to see you rocking some Amens too :)

Stranjah please release a phat sample pack
All of your content is choice. Like a master class for sound craft. Big ups m8
@STRANJAH Great work dude! This is by far one of the most clear cut and eye-openingly widely applicable/translatable bass sound design videos I’ve ever seen, because basically changing the wavetable and playing with the rest of the same processing can basically lead you most of the way to almost any other/countless other pro sounding bass sounds, in terms of what makes up the bulk of the sound, generally speaking of course. Like this is format of bass design is incredibly flexible & I really appreciate it haha.
If you take requests I would be curious what you would do on a video on making saw-growls with live’s vocoder and the triple OTT trick///or making basses out of plain sine waves and making it come to life all with post-synth wave shaping distortion + that vocoder & triple OTT and a few other stock effects inside a parallel process rack w/a empty chain so that the sine stays perfectly in tact with everything & it eliminates the headeach of trying to match up the sub’s pitch with any LFOs/pitch bending. Basically if you put the vocoder & other stuff before the triple OTT all sorts of magic can happen haha.
Very interested to see if/how you digest this and approach this format of bass design!
bro your tutorials are the bestttttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
brilliant as usual
Pretty cool and neat sound Bob. Thanks for sharing!
Your welcome Harry!
this one is def one of the most eye openers for me! Thanks!
If people are telling you " It needs more Mids " This is what they are talkin bout. Ha!
Soooo thankful. Bless.
Dude this is awesome. Going to have to play with it using lfo point modulation, especially with moving the bottom point of the v over time.
Doing God’s work over here. Great videos.
Bro I just found you from an article that was chastising you for sharing these secrets. Whoever wrote it was deeply resentful, like the worst gatekeeping byatch ever. This is prime content & you're the goat for sharing thank you. However I don't have serum is there any chance you could explain how to recreate with lpx stock plugins please?
you've got the best and most concise sound design tutorials mate. keep them coming.

Thanks Freddie! I'll look into doing more Massive videos. Do you want videos for the old Massive or Massive X?
STRANJAH Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. I saw the Massive X tutorials but I was referring to the old Massive, should’ve made that more obvious sorry!

That sub is so thight! Do you already have a tutorial of that one by any chance?
also curious of that sub :D
yes I go through it here, use a pitchwheel to modulate the end of the note ruclips.net/video/2SgF75oTFkQ/видео.html
I know for a fact the moment you mentioned Hyper Dimension that I popped into your head. Go on. Admit it.
Of course hahah everytime now, I can't not think about what you said now, its been burnt inside my head.
Tidy, nice one
Cheers!
Funky!!! ❤❤
How convenient are these tutorials
This is sick! Thankyou could you do a bou/ serum style bass tutorial?
Yes its in my latest video called Foghorn Bass, check it out! ruclips.net/video/HE9PjQl0W5M/видео.html
this is so awesome, did you learn by doing or did you have a mentor at some point? love your concise style...im working on a different style of music but im coming back to this because i always wanted to make these kinds of tracks.
Really nice video man. Any chance you could do more with Massive X?!
Will do, thx for tuning into the livestream last day.
you're killing it! loving these. Do you have a tutorial for what's going on w/ the other bass sound? I think it's the massive x track
Thank you! It's a rolling bass used a lot in liquid, I show it in serum but its the same way with massive x let me know if you can figure it out ruclips.net/video/2SgF75oTFkQ/видео.html
STRANJAH does it show what's going on with the pitch? Are you you using the pitch wheel or automating it though serum?
@@STRANJAH it sounds like this one does something different with the pitch which is what I'm interested in. I'm curious if it's glide, pitch wheel or possibly an LFO on course pitch in serum
