This is the most concise, easy to follow video on how to achieve this type of sound I have seen yet................. and I have been watching the making of "Growl basses" videos for like 20 years now LOL.......................................... Well done STRANJAH, this is exactly what I have been looking for .. You are a Champ !
You know when someone makes a music production tutorial uploads it. You get a small taster of what its about and the sounds being made. Now you wanna hit your studio again. Well for me. This is one of them - Nice one !
now i have beeen into ableton for more than a year and a half, and i must be new to this, i am a huge fan of two steps ukg things like burial, and i from tutorial to tutorial, i keeep learning valuable things about ukg, thank you man ! keep it up, big up from Tunisia !
Here is a tip, instead of unison use the same wave table in both osc a & b and just pan left & right. Then turn the rand to 0. Now you have much more control of the phase instead of using rand.
@STRANJAH Great work dude! This is by far one of the most clear cut and eye-openingly widely applicable/translatable bass sound design videos I’ve ever seen, because basically changing the wavetable and playing with the rest of the same processing can basically lead you most of the way to almost any other/countless other pro sounding bass sounds, in terms of what makes up the bulk of the sound, generally speaking of course. Like this is format of bass design is incredibly flexible & I really appreciate it haha. If you take requests I would be curious what you would do on a video on making saw-growls with live’s vocoder and the triple OTT trick///or making basses out of plain sine waves and making it come to life all with post-synth wave shaping distortion + that vocoder & triple OTT and a few other stock effects inside a parallel process rack w/a empty chain so that the sine stays perfectly in tact with everything & it eliminates the headeach of trying to match up the sub’s pitch with any LFOs/pitch bending. Basically if you put the vocoder & other stuff before the triple OTT all sorts of magic can happen haha. Very interested to see if/how you digest this and approach this format of bass design!
Thank you! It's a rolling bass used a lot in liquid, I show it in serum but its the same way with massive x let me know if you can figure it out ruclips.net/video/2SgF75oTFkQ/видео.html
@@STRANJAH it sounds like this one does something different with the pitch which is what I'm interested in. I'm curious if it's glide, pitch wheel or possibly an LFO on course pitch in serum
Do you ever use Massive? Would you consider doing some massive vids. P.s really enjoying these videos man, learn’t a lot from them! Thanks for putting in the time.
STRANJAH Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. I saw the Massive X tutorials but I was referring to the old Massive, should’ve made that more obvious sorry!
It's pretty much show in this video here, you just have to use the pitchwheel to make it slide upward. Also tighten up the detuning on unison mode. ruclips.net/video/2SgF75oTFkQ/видео.html
Bro I just found you from an article that was chastising you for sharing these secrets. Whoever wrote it was deeply resentful, like the worst gatekeeping byatch ever. This is prime content & you're the goat for sharing thank you. However I don't have serum is there any chance you could explain how to recreate with lpx stock plugins please?
@STRANJAH Cool vid! would you recommend using an FM synth or a subtractive synth to make sounds like this? Or is there not really much difference in it?
@@STRANJAH Don't suppose you could highlight at high level what the differences would be, because i'm not entirely sure what I could want as I don't know the difference XD (if that makes any sense at all)
great video very insightful, following every step and i can understand it very well how it works.however when i go to the note part my grown is much faster. can't seem to find the reason, i put the session in the same bpm and tried experimenting with the bars in the envelope. any tips for getting a much slower lfo or envelope ?
Thanks yo! I know Serum is the hot softsynth right now, but I'd love to see some videos of you playing around in a Virus (if you've still got yours). I know how to apply most of these concepts to my TI2 already but it'd be cool to see how YOU do it. Thinking about giving up on the TI plugin (again) as it seems to cause nothing but trouble with Ableton - have you had similar experiences? Thoughts on Mystery Islands' Virus|HC as an alternative?
I gave up on my Ti as well. It is practically brand new and never used, sitting in the box. I have gone back to other hardware, primarily romplers of the 90's and am faring far better that way with my music.
Thanks man, that's a great suggestion. I have RINSED the Virus B out in the 2000's, sounds that I didn't think were possible. I'll look into it for sure!
