    I feel like a lot of the people knocking this video for being too basic have forgotten what it's like to be a beginner, everybody starts from square one and I'm sure plenty of people will get a lot of value from this video even if it's something that a lot of us already know

    • @STRANJAH
      @STRANJAH  3 года назад +53

      I appreciate you for saying this. Maybe I should have included a "beginner alert" at the start so more advanced users wouldn't be so upset lol I'm try to give knowledge to all levels here. And hey even sometimes I need a reminder on these basic principles. Also as basic as these are, some of these I didn't figure out till a handful of years down the road, especially the combos and reggaeton rhythm.

      Such videos are also helpful to experienced producers, cause sometimes we're just too much in our heads about how a bassline should be that we forget the basic stuff.

    • @TheEarlyAstrotype1024
      @TheEarlyAstrotype1024 3 года назад +6

      Yes, this is right.
      My approach here is make a sound as simple as possible, then add your own spice to it. This gives a basic foundation for you to build your own interesting and complex sounds.
      Without this foundation to start, you'll have a hard time getting the best sound you want to make, because you don't know where to start.
      For example; make a growl as simple as possible: grab a Vital synth, just frequency modulate the sine wave with brown noise, and just scroll the fm knob up and down, here's your super basic growl. After that, just do whatever you want to make it unique, feel free.

    EZ mate, long time no speak! Just wanted to say that these tutorials are ace, I'd have killed to have had this kind of info and teaching freely available when I was trying to find the difference between my arse and my elbow as a kid using sequencers for the first time... :)
    Really nicely explained and demonstrated too - gotta admit that messing about with 808 patterns (and completely chancing on stuff by simply moving notes back and forth until I find a vibe) is one of my favourite parts of making jungle/dnb tbh, so it's cool seeing you put that across so clearly and also that you're kind of encouraging people to not overthink it.... just kind of move bits around until your ears prick up innit :)
    Good stuff Alan, been meaning to check these for ages but I'm a bit rubbish. Will be getting on the others ASAP.
    Hope all's well mate, Maff

Another killer dnb production tutorial. Keep these tuts going! Sorry I'm like 2 years late on this video. There was a hodge podge of different uninformative tutorials when I started producing in like 2008, it was really a guessing game with dnb production back then. I rarely produce or take it seriously but when I have time to kill it's great to watch these, especially this particular tutorial. It's weird because I've used dotted 1/4 notes without realizingi it was a thing. But yeah I will def be using these examples to build off of.

    • @tinmanbeats777
      @tinmanbeats777 3 года назад

      I know I’m not Stranjah, but a very very basic tip for “warming up” pads and making them larger is to add in some noise. I use Vital personally and add some White or Pink noise in there, then lower the mix so it’s just adding a bit of hiss to the sound and often link it to the LFO so it “moves” with the sound I’m using, it fills out the frequency spectrum a bit more and adds depth to the sound and you don’t have to have the mix too high at all to achieve the effect, a lot of what helps to warm up sounds is achieved in the more discreet effects that you don’t hear as much but will feel in the overall mix.

    Firat of all, Stranjah, THANKL YOU. I am using this with he TR8s, and your video is helping me strart producing music better than anything Ive tried so far. And you get right at it,too.
    I have to look through your channel, but if you have a video on arranging the bars into a whole song, thats my next hurdle. Espcially the BPM and number of bars to string together and what kind of variations of bars. I can experiment, but it gets overwhelming whith all the choices that go into making a whole song. I'm thinking of adding DnB into Happy Hardcore like tempos. Let the chipmunks sing!

    Great video. And just wanted to say the gnarly pack is very good. I been using it everyday. Other producers, ya'll need to get this serum pack, it's seriously such a awesome kit to have in your toolbox and collection of sounds.
