Subscribed, brand new and have gone straight for making my love neuro dnb, maybe a vid on the main audio affects, why, how and when, that would be pretty cool
WIsh i had discovered this during lockdown when i had so much time to dedicate to music production. I bought a Push 2 and the Ableton Software back then and only managed mediocre loops. Early this morning i landed on your channel, followed your melody video and created a not to shabby chord pattern that i was able to scratch up into a basic track, with start, middle and end. Will be taking up your course in the New Year and thank you again for all your great content!
Hey been a pianist that’s been in love with edm/house and had all these ideas in my head for years. Finally went ahead and bought a production setup, pretty basic. But am sitting there banging my head trying to figure out why my songs are pumping and pushing forward. Thank you so much. Great tips and after checking out the edm tips website I’m glad I found this.
Awesome tutorial, really easy to follow and you explained this so well i am now listening to music in a new way. Things I didn't notice at all are now poping out. Thank you so much...
Hell yeah Will. Again a wonderful tutorial. You're the best in what you do. It's like no EDM-subgenre is too hard for you to explain. Do you attend ADE this year?
Just found your channel and can't stop watching. You are very talented not only on the topic but also in teaching things! You definitively motivate me to keep on producing :)
As a keen DJ ( although predominantly in my bedroom at this stage!!) I am so tempted to try my hand at producing music, although it is rather daunting. There is obviously a mountain of info available online but you Will stand head and shoulders above the rest. Thank you for the time and effort you put into all these free vids. They really are superb. Big up! T
Do it dude get a cheap copy of Ableton Live lite, get a couple of free synths and effects, watch all Will's videos and copy along and your on your way!!
Will, the shout-out to Alex Rome is very cool. I enjoy his tutorials as well. It's great to see you building on one of his videos. We all get smarter and better for the EDM community's wonderful desire to share. Kudos.
Probably the best tutorial on bass pattern on RUclips..I really like your tutorials which help me a lot.. Thank you ... One request could you give some idea how I can use Arps for creating interesting effects??
Very interesting stuff! I used to be a group fitness instructor before I started having enough health issues that I had to stop. But I was naturally good at it, as I could hear the patterns & beat counts. I've been listening to EDM since 9 P.M. ('Til I Come). + 90's dance music. It was definitely fun to use it in the classes I instructed. Edit: this video is helping me understand why I've never been able to stomach Psy-Trance & have always loved more progressive and melodic trance ...borderline house. lol.
Amazing!! Genuinely love all your vids Will, I only ever come to your channel for most things now!! Do you have anything for effects, Risers, Fizz etc?
Dude you are awesome, please make more such short videos with comparison and examples. I was stuck in a rut with the bass and found this video so now its time to make some groovy basslines. Thanks for sharing
Very cool. I use these kinid of patterns by just playing them on the keyboard, but it is good to know what a dotted note is, and how to choose them more carefully, instead of just stumbling on them. Thanks!
@@EDMTips I really love the genuine enthusiasm you have through all of your videos. It really touches on how I experience the journey from just dabbling to actually getting a grip on what the hell you are doing. I thought I was the only one fist pumping to what I am creating and getting kind of carried away with it. But you show it is not a problem to like what you are doing in the moment. Sometimes it is so cool to discover what you created, maybe accidentally, and just liking that moment.
Hello Will. Your the man so here goes. Is it possible to warp a bass line loop which spans 1 or 2 bars that’s I.e in the scale & key of C minor at a bpm of 140 and pitch it up and down to follow the scale/key of my track/melody etc. as you would with a vst synth bass line? I can’t find a decent tutorial or info anywhere showing this? All goes Pete Tong when I try. Cheers mate. J….TCVC

Thanks, Will. As a bass player I always overly complicate my patterns and have to simplify them later. Same with drum patterns. (Just one more grace note and it will be perfect. Not.)
I have the same mindset. I wanted to be more complicated because I thought it would make me stand out more and I felt more creative, the reality is that simple just works and helps creat flow (for me anyway) this was a great video. Thank you 🙏

One track that has always baffled me is Slide -Closure (lounge-tech mix) Old track but hands down the most unique bassline I have ever heard. Would love your take on it :P
Another tip is to use bass as a melody, don't always have it simply as low end. Create melodies with your basslines to really add some flair to your tracks.
Hi there! Thanks so much for posting these videos. I have just taken up learning music production and finding this stuff very helpful! Is there anyway to make the rolling bass 1/16th with stock sounds in Ableton live 11?
Hope you enjoy this format, fam! Let me know if I should make more of these shorter vids (suggestions welcome!) 🙂👇
