Oatey Toilet Flange Extension Kit

I bought a new toilet and found out after removing the old one that the previous plumber had used 2 wax rings as the original floor had been re-tiled and the flange then sat below floor level. After considering various options including removal of flange, other adapters, etc. I read and watched as much info on this as I could. It always seems like there is something different about your situation so I guess there is always some level of figuring out what to do with what you got. Good Luck!

Any reason you decided on the wax ring method vs the black gasket? I'm debating on which one to use. I know the wax ring is for corroded flanges or cast iron, but still the black gasket looks quite weak and would deteriorate over time.

I have never had a wax ring leak. I was a technician for GM. For 50 years they made the same brake light switch that never failed for the life of the vehicle. They decided to change it. I spent every day for a year replacing failed brake switches. There is a good reason to change things for better technology, but in the end, this is the same exit for toilet waste that it has been since maybe 1592 and there was ring has worked since 1944.

Just returned one of these to Lowes that was defective. After it was set in place, screwed down, etc. the closet bolt would not stand upright on one side. The flange was distorted I'll never buy again.
