Thanks for watching our video. Let's take a second to fill in the blanks that you can not see in the video. We are from Alaska and have plenty of experience driving PROPERLY EQUIPPED vehicles in some of the worst winter weather you could imagine. In this case we were not in a properly equipped vehicle. In this video we were driving our 2wd 1999 32' class A motorhome with highway tires and towing a 3500# trailer. As many of you know coming to a stop facing up hill on a snow covered road with that vehicle would not work out well so we pulled off. We are now traveling in a new to us 4x4 expedition RV and snowy weather is not an issue. ruclips.net/video/X4122cf3NA4/видео.html

It's a great video the old lady has the typical she paranoia about her. Me and Chrissy survived a blizzard in Butte Montana 12 degrees below Zero in our 36 foot 2X4 with some grippers on the rear but like all Women are we headed to Walmart parking lot exactly like you did at Chrissy's demands. Chrissy says to me as it starts to get cold with the engine off that this is a good time to test that wood stove you built in here. I said yes in deed it is and she bails and goes into the store for I don't know how long. In the mean time I shoulda had made a video of me fighting the frozen pad lock on the trailer to get at the fire wood. Like all women Chrissy only comes back after I bloodied a hand and broke a finger she has a big smile a huge bag with chips and tub of cheese dip with a block of Ring Bologna and lots of soda with some other crap guys don't touch she then says to me why is it still cold in here. It was even colder yet when I rudely said you mind the friggin fire. I then brushed my teeth and went to bed without her. It was 10 minutes later when she saw all the frozen blood all over the door and some I missed on the table seat. Then as it warmed up I got my snacks in bed. She realized she shoulda helped me open the trailer because even the doors were frozen shut is how I broke my finger and ripped my hand open. Needless to say I also tore my new sweatshirt... Now days we use the RV for warm weather travels. That trip was the last in the winter. I had about a weeks firewood in the trailer and food on board but geezus shit we used up 3 days worth that trip the roads stayed closed and just how much can y'all walk around inside a friggin Walmart without going nutz or getting attentions from personnel especially when ya try to explain to security when one or the other leaves to go put a piece of wood in the little home made wood stove and all the while hoping the RV ain't on fire when ya get out to it... No more winter RVing for us... Fortunately the Walmart folks had a bigger sense of humor about than we did. We even had 2 of the managers come check out our rig. They really liked the ah snake skin pattern shower curtain I got in Calif. for 6 bucks at a yard sale I told em...

Truck stops sell 40 channel walkie talkies for the rubber ducky antenna for $60 it would be good to get one and leave in your glove box just to pull out and listen to in such an event. or even pull it out when the weather starts to get bad and leave it up on your dash so you can hear what's going on. the other suggestion is your smartphone should have any app in it like I have what's called "My Radar" app. I watch storms come at me roll over the top me and disappear in the distance while it's happening live.

Walmart is really good for letting travelers take refuge in their parking lot! I have done that in my automobile multiple times always a safe place to park..
I feel for you guys. You must not drive in weather like this often. You really didn't have anything to worry about. Driving slow helps, but no reason to stress out. Good luck on your travels.
Your impression of the Floridians, Jim and his wife, was hilarious! You also reminded me of my days running a snow plow on the highways in Minnesota and all the cars would line up behind me in white-out conditions and I swear I could hear them thinking, "follow the snow plow, he knows where the road is!" and I'm thinking, "Don't follow me, I can't see the road either-Crap, that sign shoudn't be there!" As a former Walmart driver w 20 years with the fleet, all these RV’ers and outside carriers would usually trash the place (pee bottles, trash bags, etc), and also make it difficult for us fleet guys to find a place to park, cause we would run later into the night and these clowns would park anyway and anywhere, even had some OTR guys park in our dock area. What a pain in the ass, glad I’m retired and don’t have to deal with it anymore.
Thanks for the trip. Glad that you had each other through that trip. I am single (husband died in 1986) and my dog and I do at least one trip a week to keep my Pleasure Way in good shape. Didn't know they had so much snow in New Mexico.
The folks that have neg comments about them pulling off must be the ones that think they are invincible because they are driving a 4x4 and a few miles down there the ones flipped in the median!! Good grief . Hey u guys made the right choice . Safe travels from Michigan ❤👣.
Andrea Picklesimer Taylor I call them “Billy Badasses.” I witness them often especially during the winter months in Colorado. Funny, most folks that have something negative to say have never driven on this side on United States during a snowstorm.
I understand you’re scared, but it’s ok. You gotta be prepared for this if you’re traveling in an RV willingly. Weather happens, especially in winter. If you’re that scared about it, don’t travel in winter. The roads didn’t even look icy at all. But always trust your instincts. If you wanted to pull over, good. You also need to just chill out and enjoy it. It’s part of the weather. Park, have a drink, and enjoy yourselves.
My dad was a truck driver for 40 years and what you guys did were the thing I heard about the most. What you have to remember is their loaded weight, stopping distance and how long it would take to get stopped to not ass end u. By the way he was a retired drill instructor before trucking
I feel like that any time I have to get out into snowy weather. We came off a mountain one time in this big old Cadillac we had. I had to scrunch down in my seat and close my eyes. lol Just watching you two brings back a lot of those road memories. I'm 68 years old now and my camping days are behind me. Give me a nice motel room and I'm happy! It is fun watching you two though. Good luck on your journeys. Stay safe.
Wow, so glad you made it safe and sound. I so felt how nervous that could have been. Then enjoyed the little jokes which Im sure gave you a little relief for a minute. Glad you made it to that Walmart, probably a smart idea. Thanks for sharing this. Continue to enjoy your trip.
I think I would be more worried about all those people lined up on the road seeing your vehicle and knocking on the door wanting to use the bathroom or wanting something to eat. lol
My heart was beating until you made me piss my pants laughing with the "Damn it Jim" And you are probably right - They are from FL and You from AK...Yup I hear that wife yelling for sure!! Thank you for the belly laugh!!
pulling into an area that will not be plowed,a closed gate,do not get it. I drove some for a living, road tripping in the Lake effect region,I know snow, the National Weather Service run by N.O.A.A. will keep you out of trouble. Friend avoid trouble and never pull off where you will be on your own, follow truckers.
I'm thinking I've got a pretty decent RV in good condition. If the weather becomes a concern I pull into a rest stop or off the road and bed down for the night. Nothing to get nervous about. 🤤
Reminds me of heading to Vegas in 1992 driving our Mustang GT, never drove in the mountains, got stuck in a bad snowstorm late October in Loveland Pass, took almost 10 hours to get to Grand Junction driving between 15-20 mph in the dark,,,so exhausting but the memories are still there
There is nothing you can do about it so you might as well cheer up, and stop pouting! All's well. Cook some dinner first for your hubby then curl up together and play a game of scrabble, or as you said watch a movie, and enjoy.
This video is 6 years old, but lots of fresh comments. Walmart no longer welcomes RVs -- as I understand it, there were squatters that ruined it for everyone else. I stopped at one about a year ago and within an hour security was asking me to move, but was nice enough to compromise at let me move to an unused area behind the store.
I know. It would be no different than being snowbound in your own home. The only thing they're lacking is a small wood stove and wood chips, or some of those long burn logs that could be used to heat and cook on. They actually make the smaller wood stoves for vans and campers now, in different sizes, along with wood chips or long last burn logs, etc. You can even cook on them, as well as additional heat, in case your gas runs out.
I was born in Roswell in 1963, left in 1979, today is 10-13-2023. Sister still lives in Roswell, and I have a Neice in Cruces. Thanks for sharing your trip. Best of Luck
I lived in New Mexico for years and the roads are very well maintained during snow storms. Never had trouble driving. They use lava rock mixture for the roads.
Like the other guy commented I'm a long distance truck driver with over 2 million miles you made the right call and as far as being on an incline LOL that's not much for you to worry about but I'm sure you already know that, if she chose a good man with a brain then it's up to you to make the right decision for everyone involved and I think you made a great decision!
Well, while I was watching that I think I was almost as nervous as you were. The relief in your voice was extremely evident after you had made it safely to the Walmart parking lot. Stay warm!
We'll be going fulltime in 2021. This is a possibility for anyone traveling. Thank you for the reminder of that fact. Stay safe out there, and see ya down the road.
Smart to pull over and hind sight being 20/20 hopefully in the future you will be more mindful of road conditions and weather. Propper planning will keep you and everyone else on the road allot safer.
I drove from Denver to Las Cruces this is Ben Brazilian years ago but it snowed 17 in before I left Denver, you had maybe 6 inches, I love it when City people come out here and get a little bit of snow and just start freaking out!!!!
@@lynnestamey7272 okay you want to play the I towed something somewhere, ????? Let's Play!!!! Left Honolulu flew into LAX!!! Had my shipping container delivered to an empty lot in Long Beach!!! In the shipping container was my brand new 1989 Ford F 350 Dooley 4x4 turbo diesel.. unloaded the truck out of the container packed everything in the container on the bed of the truck strapped it all down. Drove to North Hollywood!!!! Went to the boat dealership where they were waiting for me why are the truck up and I double-trailered two boats back via interstate 10 to El Paso total length of about 62 ft. The people that were ahead of me only beat me by 24 hours. One week later loaded up and made a trip to Jacksonville Florida. So don't ever say s*** to me again about nothing, I've driven more miles on accident that you've driven on purpose!!!!
I drove a class A through a foot of snow during a blizzard with no problems whatsoever, tires didn't even spin. You should have no trouble whatsoever just don't go real fast 😀
I know this is a few years old but I just stumbled upon it and yea, driving in a snowstorm is extremely nerve wracking. I avoid it at all cost. Good job and glad y’all made it safe to your destination.
I don't get some of the comments, because some seem downright rude to me. What happened to just enjoying a video and not having to critique every word and emotion they say and make. I thought it was a good video.
Fortunately you can't see some of the REALLY BAD ones that I delete. People are horribly brave and mean behind the safety of the keyboard. Anyways, thanks for watching and i highly recommend checking out our newer videos.
From Alaska but snow scares ya guys? New Mexico winters are cold but you have food and shelter compared to the cars sitting there. Make a nice little dinner and chill. Have a beer and watch a movie
Nice video, we have a 5th wheel and we have travelled from Nova Scotia (our home) to Texas through the northern states mountainous terrain and snow accumulation and although we are used to snow covered roads it's nice to find an exit to park it and calm the nerves. Happy trails guys.
You did just fine. Slow and easy is so much better than fast and mangled. I live in a place that gets 3 ft in a day often enough and fast people crash.
I am also what they call "professional driver" a.k.a. TRUCK DRIVER. I have traveled is some of the craziest weather and like the PD said, if you don't feel comfortable don't drive. Most accidents are caused by BAD JUDGMENT .... As we say in the industry "Stay Safe & MAKE IT HOME 🏠!
Winter driving is about road conditions and visibility. If it is only snowing but there is no wind, one can usually see well enough. Likewise when it is not snowing, but is only blowing. However, when it blows and snows, that can be a blizzard where you can not see anything, depending. So watch weather conditions as well as road condition. Carry what you need in case your vehicle breaks down.
Its an adventure mama!! Dont worry!! Your husband is taking care of u love!! I know during these times u may not feel like that but all is well!! GOD GOTS U!!😁 YOU GUYS ARE LIVIN THE GOOD LIFE! I ENVY YOU! 😍 GOD BLESS AND MANY PRAYERS YOUR WAY!!😘
Well done getting to the Walmart! Not much fun driving in snow, even in a car with 4 wheel drive! I think it is better to be parked a little near civilization in bad weather! Take care xxxx
Looks like a nice day for a Sunday drive on a 12,000' mountain pass here in Colorado. This is exactly why the first thing I did after I bought our class-C was a 4X4 conversion and 6 inch lift. Big trailers and 2WD in the snow do not mix so it's best to pull off and pour a jack on the rocks, then deal with it in the morning... After all, isn't that why your traveling with your house?
Just FYI, if I recall right, the parking lot at White Sands visitor center was level. It might be a good option for the next folks that run into a problem...
Good video, thank you. Please don't try Colorado in the winter, OK? There are many people in my little town that commute 60 miles to Telluride every day, you cannot imagine how difficult that is. If they get stuck behind an RV going 40 mph on roads they think should be driven at 60 mph about half of them go nuts and pass you in extremely hazardous places and conditions. Just a heads up, you two did a great job in my opinion in your situation.
We had plenty of experience with knowing how crappy that RV handled in the snow. That was the 3rd time we got caught in a pickle on snowy roads in that thing. Now in our new RV which is a 4x4 expedition vehicle, bring it! Last year we traversed the Alcan in -20f. It's funny how you mention the drivers in Colorado... Of all the states we have traveled in Colorado has to have the most aggressive and angry drivers around. Even if you are going 5mph over the speed limit they blaze on the horn and recklessly pass. What's the story or history behind this human behavior there?
Haha! Thanks for the heads up. We drive cross country every year and we drove through the rockies during the winter months. It is so beautiful out there on the roads, but dangerous during a snowstorm!
Jesus… when I drive my girlfriend knows that if she’s uncomfortable go lay in the back. But there is absolutely no yelling in the cab. Let me do my thing, if it truly gets to bad I know my rigs limits.
I live in Canada. We get bad weather coast to coast. 34 years as a tractor trailer driver. Worst case scenario, slow down or get off the highway (not the shoulder) and go to bed. Travelled ice roads in NWT solo and never had a problem (that show is BS). You say your from Alaska? Obviously you didn’t travel much. Nervous drivers are more of a hazard than bad weather. Listen to the forecast and make a smart decision next time. Good Grief!
HI! Great video! I live full time in a 32 foot Class C, towing a Jeep. We wintered in Deming in 2007 and stayed awhile in T-or-C and Las Cruces. We never saw that much snow there! So glad you showed this as I'm back in the Carolinas and had forgotten the long distances out there. I may return West next year but with much more planning!
Randyl J If you were in NC last week did you get to enjoy the crazy amounts of snowfall we got a week ago starting on Saturday? I live in North Carolina in Surry county in a region called the foothills. We happen to be on the eastern side of the BlueRidge and due to that we rarely get more than 5 inches and generally we get the dreaded wintery mix which can seriously be worse than a heavy snowfall. Sunday morning we woke up to over 18 inches of heavy wet snow that wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. The 20+ inches broke any previous records for the last 20-30 years. It didn’t help that the overnight temperatures were dropping down into the lower 20s and upper teens. The last couple of hours of the storm was sleet and freezing rain so everything developed a hard crust on top. Many lost electricity because of the heavy weight of snow and ice on the power lines. Schools were closed Monday through Thursday and had a 3 hour delay on Friday with the option to close because another storm was hitting us overnight into Friday and they weren’t sure if it would be more snow and ice or cold rain. Thankfully it was rain that washed away most of the snow, but it was causing flash flooding in areas. Hopefully that was the biggest snow for this winter. Last winter started in October before Halloween and didn’t end until well after Easter in April and it broke all of the records for the coldest winter temperatures. I think it would be interesting to live like you do traveling around in your home on wheels. Not something I will ever get to do with my different health issues and limitations they cause.
Been there, done this and learned long ago how to drive on snow and ice. Had a 39' motor home and towed a pickup with a towed brake on it that could be used independently from the coach. Been thru all 50 states, most of Canada and parts of Mexico with 3 different coaches over 26 years of full timing.
Here's an idea, try watching a weather report before starting a trip. Carry a weather radio with you and turn it on. This is the 2nd video I've watched where the so called rv'er was surprised by bad wrather. Poor planning on the part of rv'ers.
That’s how it goes in the RV life! carry extra blankets, water, matches, Warm clothing, including socks, insulated boots, extra food and Snacks, stock up before you start traveling in between Stop overs until you get where you’re going. and before you leave there replenish everything because you never know😬I went through this back in the 90s I actually missed that kind of living🫣
I've spent many days on these similar roads and I never saw too many smart drivers when it got bad. YOU guys were smart, and you were rewarded by your good decisions. We need more of these vids and more smart drivers

Stay safe.
68 is not old 😂
Wow, so glad you made it safe and sound. I so felt how nervous that could have been. Then enjoyed the little jokes which Im sure gave you a little relief for a minute. Glad you made it to that Walmart, probably a smart idea. Thanks for sharing this. Continue to enjoy your trip.
I think I would be more worried about all those people lined up on the road seeing your vehicle and knocking on the door wanting to use the bathroom or wanting something to eat. lol
It would just be too bad, so sad. Lol
I sure as heck wouldn't be letting a bunch of strangers into my home like that. 😂
You two must feel right at home in that weather. Glad you made it there safely.
My heart was beating until you made me piss my pants laughing with the "Damn it Jim" And you are probably right - They are from FL and You from AK...Yup I hear that wife yelling for sure!! Thank you for the belly laugh!!
I’m right with you! I get so nervous in bad weather! It’s a great feeling to get off of the road and feel safe! Glad y’all made it!
Wise decision to get off the main road. Be safe out there.
pulling into an area that will not be plowed,a closed gate,do not get it.
Over the years in that RV we learned to just stop and let the weather pass. Now that we have a 4x4 RV nothing stops us.
If you prepared well, why are you worried? That is the fun part about doing what you are doing! Enjoy!
Reminds me of heading to Vegas in 1992 driving our Mustang GT, never drove in the mountains, got stuck in a bad snowstorm late October in Loveland Pass, took almost 10 hours to get to Grand Junction driving between 15-20 mph in the dark,,,so exhausting but the memories are still there
In Wisconsin we call that “a dusting”
There is nothing you can do about it so you might as well cheer up, and stop pouting! All's well. Cook some dinner first for your hubby then curl up together and play a game of scrabble, or as you said watch a movie, and enjoy.
This video is 6 years old, but lots of fresh comments. Walmart no longer welcomes RVs -- as I understand it, there were squatters that ruined it for everyone else. I stopped at one about a year ago and within an hour security was asking me to move, but was nice enough to compromise at let me move to an unused area behind the store.
You are in a self contained RV whats the problem? Bad weather? pull over and CAMP
Limited resources (water, electric, food...) could be a problem.
Made me nervous just watching. Thankful you made it there safe. Enjoy. Your trip.😧
Stay warm!
I understand your feelings when i can park and relax after fighting the weather.
You need to get a cb radio us truckers for the most part stay connected with each other to know what is coming up in front of us
We have one in our new truck.
I,hope that your CB has the weather channel in it also , Cobra CB,S Now have the weather channels in them, and a clock, check them out.
They are from Alaska. Did you see where they were in a two wheel drive towing a 3500# trailer? Check your facts before you post crap about people.
As native Floridians, we love getting any travel tips that are snow-related. We are excited about heading North in our adventures.
I'm in Starke Florida now almost 2 years
I live in NY I hope to do this when I retire . Just RV it and visit every great state in the USA
Turn the heat on, kick back and relax
he was hilarious imitating the wife behind them...kept the wife laughing....God I'd be a wreck! Hate that kind of driving and I'm from Michigan!
I drove a class A through a foot of snow during a blizzard with no problems whatsoever, tires didn't even spin. You should have no trouble whatsoever just don't go real fast 😀
......though daunting.......a foot of snow is safer than black ice.......just sayin'......:)
it is smart to get off a snowy road especially with a rig like you have.
Thanks for sharing the "real" RV experience.
Camping in Walmart parking lot is wise. You’ve got unlimited supply as long as you have credit card.
Aw bless you both, my heart was pounding with you too! Thank goodness you are safe! Feet up, hot cuppa and film, happy travelling!
Driving in the snow.... my WORST NIGHTMARE .... my heart started racing just watching ... whew !! What a ride ! ......................
wtf why? get winter tires and learn how to drive
sharon olsen Driving In snow is fun.
I know this is a few years old but I just stumbled upon it and yea, driving in a snowstorm is extremely nerve wracking. I avoid it at all cost. Good job and glad y’all made it safe to your destination.
Get 100% silicone windshield wipers and it will not make that sound anymore at 10:50 .
@@outliersoverland 👍😃
10:10...guys that so funny..that's just like..me and my husband believe or not..we watching it over and over..we both laughing..
From Alaska but snow scares ya guys? New Mexico winters are cold but you have food and shelter compared to the cars sitting there. Make a nice little dinner and chill. Have a beer and watch a movie
It’s all about the vehicle you’re driving in the snow.
@@outliersoverland guess you'd have to be there. From video it doesn't look bad but it's all about safety. Safe journeys yall
I remember now why I quit watching this. Constantly being terror-stricken is not really entertaining.
My wife just puts her head back and closes her eyes. She’s a big baby too.
You’re talking about driving right? Lol.
Thanks for watching.
Outliers Overland Now that’s funny, you got me.😂
Nice video, we have a 5th wheel and we have travelled from Nova Scotia (our home) to Texas through the northern states mountainous terrain and snow accumulation and although we are used to snow covered roads it's nice to find an exit to park it and calm the nerves.
In these peoples case they should NEVER leave their home.
I ENVY YOU! 😍 GOD BLESS AND MANY PRAYERS YOUR WAY!!😘
@Jen - wow.. that's not condescending at all.. No ... good thing her husband is there because she couldn't survive without him.. .mmmhmmmm..
Hey, crying helps sometimes!!! Do it girl ...best video around!!! Thx for sharing!!!
Thank you!! 😁 I’m not scared of much, but bad weather roads in that Motorhome did get to me!
Nice to have a place to stay, instead of sleeping in your car.
I LOVE driving on the snow, it's ice that makes me sad!! Trucker Mike
Ice sucks! I fell on it today.
I love driving in the snow.... in a properly equipped vehicle.
So glad that u made it to Walmart.. That was a nail bitter
Interesting to see how people react to weather...I’ve never been nervous over driving in snow, but MY GOD....this video gave me anxiety....
❄🏔🌨☃️⛄🎿❄
I live in buffalo ny winters here are burtal..drive safe
looks like I'd be glad that I have my home situated right behind the dashboard. amen.
What an adventure, nice to see you made it safely.
something to tell the folks back home. Adventure is what makes memories :)
Walmart is a good idea at this point 😁 Driving in the storm not totally safe. Bed down and have fun chilling 😆 Get some goodies from Walmart, Lol!
I would say that when on the road you can expect anything because. You are not in control , but you are alive and well , so look. Up and. Thank. Him.
Good Grief!
I must be missing something - have driven through much worse without the faff
