I think this is my favourite video to date. Shelter in a dependable, safe home on wheels, the company of an adorable furry friend, a warm, hearty meal, hot coffee, a roaring fire and a good book to read. What more could one want? You know the weather's bad when the long haul truckers pull off the roads. You showed them all how it's done Canadian style! lol
Tracy I completely agree. Its really one of his best. No words needed just the quiet in the Van and natural noises. He is just so talented with that camera and life in general~
When I dream about vanlife, I don't dream of climbing mountains or going hiking or crossing continents. I dream about days like this in a cozy warm van with my dog, some good food, and a storm howling outside. This was such a simple video, but it was pure, distilled vanlife.
Foresty, this video was so peaceful...you brought chill and calm to a bunch of us. Thank you for your kindness, you and Rocco stay warm. All the best. 👍😊👍
Yes, it's so sweet watching him slowly poison the dog with onions and onion salt. I mean, if you're a sociopath, you just LOVE that part. Nothing like watching an animal slowly die of organ failure from eating meat cooked with onions. Personally, I'm sickened watching him do this to his dog.
This video really felt so perfect. Foresty, I gotta say you have so much artistry in your way of creating episodes. 10 minutes of straight silence, appreciating nature, is just perfect. Thank you for sharing your life with us!

Foresty is hand down my favorite RUclips channel. One of the few channels where I've not only seen every single video, but when a new one comes out, it's a momentous occasion for my family. You've got a multitude of "genres" in one video... he's a filmmaker, van lifer, dog owner, master chef, carpenter, he knows how to sew and cook. Why watch HGTV, Animal Planet, and the Food Network when you've got Foresty? Not to mention the dry Canadian sense of humor that never fails to crack me up.🤣 Coupled with majestic shots of nature that inspire awe. ⛰ Foresty Forest is like buffet on RUclips, he does it all! 😊
DP could not have said it better. He is so talented in so many ways. We love it when he breaks out the sewing machine! He also has inspired me to use my Crock more. I even bought his Crocky sticker and have it on our rig.
Agree agree agree.... Except....Rocko is a much better.... Best Buddy - then Crockpot..... So Glad They could drive out ok.... Wyoming had drifts over 8 ft... We're all so Lucky to have Foresty Forest & Rocko Video's to Enjoy.
DP: The cook part is wrong. 2 potatoes are equal to putting a cup or a cup and a half of sugar into that meal. The potatoes are metabolized into sugar within 5 to 10 minutes. Starchy carbs promote insulin resistance and kill pancreatic beta cells that never grow back. When half of the pancreatic beta cells have died, one has diabetes and starts putting on middle aged puffiness. If not caught and stopped at that point, the outcome can be 3 days of dialysis a week beginning 70-80. How do we protect those under 40 from that downward spiral unless by defining the risks?
DC Life - you are wrong about Starch & what happens to the pancreas. Science is hired to come up with stuff to protect the businesses that profit from the real causes. Weed remover is sprayed on Grains that damages our organs & when the fungus has consumed much of the pancreas - yes it isn't making enough insulin for the glucose to enter our cells. All our food is converted into glucose but with diabetes - it can't get into the cells & just stays in the system until a high sugar count is eliminated. Cats are getting Diabetes a lot & when we stick to a Grain Free diet for our Pets - they don't get diabetes... When they don't get the nutrients - they get skinny & Ceylon Cinnamon is a Natural Insulin to move the glucose into cells / Carbonation causes Fat because it's the same as Cellular Waste & needs to be quickly Eliminated or Hidden in New Fat Cells so we are not too Acidic / you all must read this in your Gmail being it will be removed
Your drone footage exiting the backcountry was really professionally done. There’s some calming effect watching a winter camp outing for me. Thanks for that.
Have to say this might be one of my favorite videos. Your editing skill and shot making is superb! Felt like I was watching some type of documentary at one of those outdoor themed film festivals. Keep going as there a lot of us out here who love your work - simple & beautiful.

I like your van setup. Cooking tip: Carry a 4lb bag of all purpose flour in your food stores, then add about 4 tablespoons of flour to your beef stew pot. That will thicken the juices and give you a gravy. If you feed the dog kibble, it would love it with a little gravy mixed in. :)
This was ASMR to my eyeballs. One of your best shot episodes. The camera shot looking into the darkness. with snow falling around was brilliantly placed in. Your format and cinematography is always blowing my mind.
Such an unbelievably relaxing and amazing moment in time you captured here foresty! This is the kind of video that you will watch in 30 years time and be so happy that this was a moment in your life :)

You strike the perfect balance of letting the sounds of life and nature tell the story and when a part of your video need a bit of commentary it is just enough to keep the story going, well done sir. Rocco is wonderful.
That's what I call a blizzard. This was another fantastic video. Perfect meal during a storm. I'm glad that you and Rocko were safe and cozy. Fantastic drone shots. I was very happy to see that you got back on main roads today.
Here in Alberta that weather does not shock us almost any time of year but that is crazy weather for California. We are glad you and Rocko stayed safe and warm. Rocko is so sweet sleeping in her little sweater. It was a bonus having two videos from you this week. Thanks and please safe safe!
Wow, that weather is amazing and brutal at the same time. Have to say Rocco is absolutely gorgeous. Her facial expressions are beautiful to watch. As others have said your editing and continuity is brilliant and getting better by the hour. Safe travels and keep that dog close to your heart. She is a treasure.
Loved the first half of the video with no voice-over or anything, it really had this quiet and cozy vibe to it... almost ASMR like! Great video as always. The stew looked quite yummy. Stay warm and safe travels, Forest!
Wow, the visuals in this video are amazing! From the drone shots, to your van, that fire in your cute little stove, to Rocko all curled up on your down bag, then her spot by the window and that stew, which looked incredibly delicious, then on the dashboard as you’re driving out, simply stunning. Love little Rocko and I can see she loves you! Stay warm in this epic storm. Blessings and much Aloha from Oregon❤
I love your work, Forest. It's been a great episode. Almost poetic. When you showed the blizzard juxtaposed to the cosiness of home, without dialogue, it felt brilliant. When you drove the van in the snow and filmed with the drone, it felt so immersive it seemed like a triple AAA videogame. Thank you for sharing this beautiful snippet of your life.
Glad to see you and Rocko are safe, the worsening storm and dwindling wood were worrisome. I don’t comment often so taking this opportunity to say how much I enjoy your videos. You and Rocko bring a smile to my face with every video so thank you 😊
I know I was starting to stress. But all was well. Me? I would have been pulling my hair out thinking of the worst scenario’s. Glad to see you driving out.
Just got home from a huge detour trying to get to SoCal from Lake Tahoe,,, made it as far as Lake Topaz lodge trying to get down the 395. Spent the night there then drove 13 hours north then west then finally just got home now. Crazy white out snow along the 395.
That’s a great example of working smarter not harder - we love seeing “day in the life” videos and you don’t have to struggle talking to the camera! I’m currently warm and dry in my van, parked beside the ocean on Van Isle and it’s blowing snow sideways outside. Seriously, we both get to live our best lives - cheers!
Masterful, with so little narration and no music. The calm, quiet vibe as you puttered around inside highlighted the relentless, monotonous storm outside.
It would've been an amazing video to watch, had he not been poisoning his dog by feeding it meat seasoned with onion salt and then cooked with onions. Organ failure in dogs isn't exactly FUN for me to watch, but you might be a sociopath, so perhaps you enjoy that kind of thing.
Great video. I know this was a form of art but it also really did show what your life is like a lot of the time I think, which is important for people to know it is a lot of quiet. Can't believe the drone was able to stay up in the winds but as always, you do such an amazing job with your videos. Thanks for taking us along and stay warm!!
Perfection! This is the type of content that drew me to your channel and what keeps me here. I love the simplicity, showing what it’s like to live in a van, making it seem so cozy, serving up great food. Keep doing this sort of presentations because it’s unique and special. And lots of great shots of Rocko (on the bean bag in a sweater, on the lap, on the front hood, by the Ninja foodie getting a treat, etc.).
The wife and I don't get a ton of mutual down time, but when you two put out a video, we slow down and pay attention. We appreciate all the time, energy, and dedication!!!
I gotta say Forest, always love your videos and had to agree with some of the people commenting here that I really loved this one as well, just the beautiful, I don't know something about, like one commenter Here said, those first 10 minutes, just the sweet little simple things you were doing in the Van, you and Rocko, just being cozy, making a good meal. Coffee. I don't know. I just really liked it. It was really peaceful and sweet. I'd love to see more of these interspersed. Always wonderful, though, and always love your content and your soul that you share with us❤ thanks as always for bringing us along ( C.S. Lewis once said, "we read to know we're not alone" ...I think we also write to know we're not alone, and blog, and vlog, and create RUclips videos. I think it goes very much both ways. So thanks for all you do to make everyone feel a little less alone on the planet, hope it's mutual❤
In 1980, crossing Wyoming on the way to Michigan from the west coast ran into a big storm around Elk Mountain. No chains no go. Me and my honey had a rusty 69 ford Econoline cargo van minimally insulated then. We built a shelter out of thick cardboard around a our king size bed on the rear of that van with only a round hole to crawl in and out. Comfortable night as ever, next morning, this blessed old soul dug up a pair of chains from a junker under the snow and laid them on us. We still cherish them. Best memories ever.
What a lovely video showing how relaxing it is to hunker down and enjoy the warmth of home while watching the winter blizzard blowing outside. Amazing cinematography!
Yeah, first time on this channel and I agree with what everybody else said. I was cozy, dry, and toasty warm inside with you. Thanks for dinner, the fire, and for showing everyone that it doesn't get any better than safe shelter in a storm with the one you love. I'll be back.
I'm not normally a huge fan of ASMR, but the first part of this video where you used it was excellent! It really set the mood and we could feel your thoughts while hunkered down. People should use this as a template for how to tell a story and set the tone. That's quite a bit of now there. We're forecast to get some snow on Southern Vancouver Island but I don't think it's that much. Thanks for sharing Foresty! I really enjoy your adventures 😁
We are watching you Foresty from a very hot region of Western Australia. Incredible scenes in this one. Love all your videos; you have an amazing channel. Always glad to see you and Rocko safe at the end. Thank you so much.
Excellent video showing us what it's like riding out a blizzard in a van, thankfully you also have that wood stove...that beef stew looked amazing as well however it was missing some mushrooms.
You have my subscription click. I lived in Bishop as a boy and was born a little south of there in Lone Pine. Cool to see the area from your vantage point.
Gosh, I can't express enough how much I appreciate the simplicity of this channel, and don't get me wrong, I think it takes great skill and mastery of videography to do what FF just pulled here, nearly 15 min with frames that speak louder than words. But I appreciate this back to basics way of living, of tasting, savouring every instant, fragment of existence, it's almost a living meditation.
I clicked on this out of curiosity and now I think I might be hooked. You have the most unique set up I've ever seen and to watch you just kick back being all warm while the blizzard came in was super cool!
Absolutely Awesome. Speaking as one who does a lot of what you do, you do it better, and capture and present it exquisitely. I am grateful for your talent and dedication.
This video was very well done….appreciate all the work that went into it. And, it was, for some reason, very comforting and peace-inducing. In fact, I watched it twice, something I never do
Oh man I've been wondering this week if you stuck around and how it's been going. This has definitely been the weirdest winter I've ever had living in California.
I absolutely loved the fact there was no sound just nature happening for the first 10 mins

Yeah, animal cruelty is just awesome! It's almost as good as watching him slowly POISON the dog by feeding it onions. Such a stellar guy! /end sarcasm
@@le_th_ yeah... you're insane.

Foresty, have loved your many adventures! Rocky is a beautiful dog! God bless you in all of your endeavors!
This
@@skinnflint neither do I most youtubers get it wrong and the music over powers their voice. No point in watching a video like that.
Silence is Golden..loved just the sound of the wind...so relaxing..thank you for bringing us this amazing video.
BEST. EPISODE. EVER! happy you and roc got to document this and were safe!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the episode!
These are my favourite kind of videos, just being extra super cosy inside a van during a blizzard
The wife and I don't get a ton of mutual down time, but when you two put out a video, we slow down and pay attention. We appreciate all the time, energy, and dedication!!!
Glad to see you stayed warm and safe! You captured such an unprecedented weather event so beautifully.
God blessings to you and then sweet dog...my huskey would love this
Best RUclips channel out here. We love you Foresty and Rocko
Truly loved this video! The visuals, the sound... The slow pace. Calming and enjoyable.
The vid was a massage for the brain.
Gonna be a lot of 'historic' storms now unfortunately. Great video, so well edited. Loved the blend of drone and in-van driving footage. Amazing work.
You know it's bad when Rocko wants to go back inside. Definitely had that ASMR vibe going on. Nice video Simon.
Amazing cinematography!
when my daughter grauates high scool i am totally coming out into the wils to enjoy my future truck life camper ! With my jack russel terriers!
This was a "Greatest Hits/Hall of Fame"-level video, dude! Sooooo peaceful and relaxing! A pleasure to watch.
Thanks!
Thank you 😊
We are watching you Foresty from a very hot region of Western Australia. Incredible scenes in this one. Love all your videos; you have an amazing channel. Always glad to see you and Rocko safe at the end. Thank you so much.
Great video. Conveyed the isolation, blizzard, and the human condition with the total silence during that time. Really great episode.
The shot of the dog curled up asleep with his sweater on... Sooo precious 💞
I was going to say that too. It looked so cute in the sweater sleeping.
So precious 💖
Wish I could sleep like that. He was GONE. Nothing worse than not getting enough quality sleep
👍
Even the dog didn’t want to be out in that weather a moment longer.
That was satisfying to watch! Our little rock star, Rocco, is such a good camper❤. I loved seeing the snow at night. Looked like shooting stars!
O M G .....your dog sleeping was so cool...i also have a Jack
The production value is insane. Just a fantastic job. 👏👏👏
I clicked on this out of curiosity and now I think I might be hooked. You have the most unique set up I've ever seen and to watch you just kick back being all warm while the blizzard came in was super cool!
This has got to be one of my favourite episodes - it was brilliant! So pleased you are both safe x
Dude I’m so jealous of that fireplace/coffee maker/oven combo you have!
Just proves ... no matter where you are or what the situation, as long as you have your doggo with you, life is good.
That's a fact.👍🙏
Absolutely Awesome.
Speaking as one who does a lot of what you do, you do it better, and capture and present it exquisitely.
I am grateful for your talent and dedication.
Thanks, appreciate that, have a good day!!
