    Zenith has made great improvements to its line and releases, in the past 5 years they have been trying and trying to perfect their formula, and I think they got it perfectly right with this release. I really think Zenith is making its way back to the top, especially with the prices of Daytonas and Speedmasters, the Chronomaster makes so much sense.

      There's just so much to appreciate with these. With other brands keep adding more text, more depth, more, more...Zenith is reducing and trying to distill what makes an El Primero (that's why I think these have resonated with us so much) Ah, spectacular machines... and thank you as always for taking the time to watch the video Abdul. Yeah I was blown away by the looks of these and really happy to know they hadn't abandoned their true flagship design, in this size of course. I'm actually thinking that this is "the next watch" for me. Now for the having to begin. The thing to decide though...Go classic or the panda ? I think I'm more drawn to that black dial. As far as usage of chronographs: Don't most people just play with them obsessively in the first week of ownership and then only later to show to mostly uninterested friends? Just trying to be real here.

      Michael, from one enthusiast to another, given all the options to buy watches right now, First would be the 36mm Explorer and second would be the reverse panda model. It's scooted right to the top of my "want-list". The more photos I see of it, the more I'm dying to get my hands on one... gonna have to fix this craving somehow. Thank you as always for your comment, brother!

    @johnnyguitar6697 3 года назад +3

    I am so, so glad they made this in a classic 38mm size. A home run, for me: classic, vintage inspired sports watch combined with a completely new, revolutionary function for the chronograph. The reverse panda has shot at the top of my wish list, together with the green dial GO SeaQ. Choices...

  • @Thomas_Burnett
    @Thomas_Burnett 3 года назад +3

    I fell for the A384. Then….. the A385 with that cappuccino dial came out. Now….. we have the TriColour AND a beautiful reverse panda to choose from!! Just imagine the reverse panda on the ladder bracelet!! Zenith are offering great vintage inspired watches on amazingly beautiful bracelets or your choice of strap. These releases alongside the A384 and A385 make for a very desirable lineup.
    I’m still a sucker for the Tonneau style case design of the A384 and A385 so would probably still choose one of those but, that reverse panda really is killer. By the way, there is an hour hand so, you can count how many hours have elapsed. It doesn’t need a separate sub register…… does it?
    Another brilliant presentation here my friend. Thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking. Hope you’re keeping safe and well. ✊

    • @ID-Guy
      @ID-Guy  3 года назад +1

      The A384 has been a top contender for me but this Reverse Panda has shaken things up a lot now... Ah, they're continuing to add more while keeping their ideas relevant and unique. It's fantastic! You were right in saying "forget etc etc" the other day "zenith's where it's at". And you're right about the hour hand haha! I'm just super lazy and would rather the sub-dials do the counting for me ;) Also hope you're keeping well, boet. It's been a very slow start to Summer this year (here's hoping it picks up)

    I agree with you on the fact that I prefer a chrono to have 12 hour counter. I received a Panerai 30 minute chrono from my father as a collage graduation present. I never used it. I have no need of a 3 minute chrono counter since I can do that with a dive bezel. But when I first got the moonwatch with the 12 hour counter, it was more fun. I kept track of how much I slept, my drive time to work, how long it takes for the food order to arrive. So even though I like this watch very much and I adore the size. I am reluctant to trade it with my speedy.

    If I could have one Zenith, it'd be the A384. Love it so much.
    I have a cheap chronograph and I use it all the time. Especially for tea, but you can also stop the seconds hand and use it as a count down timer. So if I have something in the oven for 40 minutes, i set the seconds hand 40 minutes after the minute hand and can see at a glance when my food will be ready.

    Haha, once again, you make a video I have to pause and really take in. :-)
    I recently came to the conclusion that the 38mm is the perfect size for the Zenith Chronomaster. I actually sold my 42mm to fund the Breguet Type XX we spoke about earlier and I love that one at 39mm. I think, for me, most of the time I am timing short intervals on a chronograph, but agree that losing the capability to time longer intervals is a little troubling. That said, I would absolutely love one of these watches, probably the white dial with the blue strap. That's the one that speaks to me.

      Ah Chris, thanks for this. I'm really smitten with the Reverse Panda. Many of the functions that we demand from a watch, are almost never used.

    The A385 Revival is the one that 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 grabs me, but I'd be more than happy to own the reverse panda Original.
    There's something about that mov't that bothers me too. It's very similar to high performance cars & motorcycles: if I was to save and stretch myself I could pay the admission price, but the up keep? Not so much. A modern classic. It's interesting to hear how you use the chronograph IDGuy, timing the length of the day that requires an hour counter. I tend to use a chrono for timing meetings that are usually (hopefully) within an hour but often more and like yourself for this I do not need super split second accuracy. It's always nice to have better granulation but that not only increases the complexity but probably service cost as well not to mention that old adage the more it does the more can go wrong. Having said that this would not stop me considering a purchase of this watch if I could justify it.

    • @ID-Guy
      @ID-Guy  3 года назад +3

      That's the one thing that's bugging me also about this movement... 36K Vph must work the parts hard over time. Still, as a part of a rotation, what a beautiful piece to add. The Reverse Panda is now sitting at No.2 on my list next to the 36mm Explorer at 1. What's so beautiful about these examples is I think they distill the essence of what we'd want from an El Primero. Zenith El Primero was the first automatic integrated chronograph on the market. Just because Jack Heuer brought several watches (Carrera) with ETA automatic movements topped with Depraz Dubois chronograph module to States and shouted, that he was first, doesn't mean, that he was. Some say, that Seiko was first, but they haven't shown their watch to anyone at the time. Zenith did announce their watch and showed it to Swiss press first.

    @waterfordrs22 2 года назад

    I would have guessed a typical chronograph would be used to find much shorter intervals than an entire day Oregon a few hours. - on average. I’m thinking lap times at various sporting events. There tenths of a second d would matter, though I don’t think the average person is going to be able either start or stop the timing cycle to that degree of precision anyway. Another task might be navigation. That could stretch out the intervals but if you were sailing for example, 1/10 of a second of four hours to a marker doesn’t mean anything anyway.

    Main reason for no lume is to see the Zenith name and star, very simple as the square hides it.
    This case with 12hour register exists in the Manufacture A386 Edition, though will old movement. Much prefer this case to previous 38mm. Sure Zenith will eventually update the 'standard' 12 hr movement and put it in A386 cases but for now seems the A384 cases get 12 hr and A386 striking 10.

      I know, I know. All things considered, at least it's manageable (and not smack in your face) but chrono's don't deserve to have dates at the best of times...

      I know... We can never ask for a no-date El Primero. It's like Seamasters with the HE valves or Tudors with Snowflake Hands. I guess each brand wants to keep their "trademark"

      You have still the El Primero Open version available for purchase at Zenith site, which has no date complication, but it is 42mm in diameter.

    I'm not into chronographs at all, so my opionion counts for absolutely nish, but I actually prefer the chronomaster sport.

      Very interesting George! Hey, it's a model with a modern twist, can't argue with that ;)

    Please let us remember function as well as industrial design. The modern Chronomaster's 1/10 sec function is not really useful, human reaction time making that degree of precision superfluous. The older El Primeros were capable of measuring intervals up to 12 hours, a much more valuable capability.
