The Blaqua Terra! So many great improvements with this new micro-collection (especially the clasp micro-adjust finally)
What are your thoughts on this new range? That 38mm is going to be a winner... imagine it in Titanium?

The micro adjust is horrendous. Maybe having a huge gap is all that can be done on this style of bracelet, but as a fellow engineer I think you are letting Omega off the hook rather easily on this point. I like to see you give a detailed review on the microadjust.

That new extension is terrible! It leaves a big gap in between the links that looks atrocious!!! I wouldn’t take that bracelet if you gave me one for free. Pure laziness on Omega’s part. Definitely NOT the best of them!!!

Just to add, my old first generation 39mm was 11mm thick, had the same glossy dial, a much more tooly mix of matte and polished finishes, gorgeous date window.. to be fair, the bracelet let it down a little bit, but apart from that - for a watch that's still around £2700, I would be tempted..... I do like this new one very much though

  • @MrOwl69

totally agree on the fully polish part. The glossy black dial is shiny enough, can't Omega just give us a brushed utilitarian case for everyday use...

It’s a strange one, right? No idea who greenlit the idea of a more polished case for these new AT’s. It would’ve been such a great contrast seeing more brushing on these 🥃

I have the "grey" teak dial 41mm Aqua Terra with the light blue seconds hand. I understand why the AT line is often overlooked, but in-person, they are simply gorgeous. I have given up trying to capture the watch with my camera, because it never does it justice. You have to see how the case, the dial, the hands and hour markers, all interact with lighting. Every time I wear my AT, I find myself staring at it. It's beautiful, technical, accurate, and insanely versatile. I may order one of these new style OEM bracelets for it, as mine came on the rubber strap, which is fantastic. Great video!

I was always hesitant about the "teak dial" ATs, but now...THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. Looks like I'll be saving for a 38mm Omega Black Lacquer AT now. As far as I'm concerned, this iteration of the AT is a watch that I'd love and cherish for a lifetime.

Exceptionally well done! I have two Aqua Terras - the "Skyfall" as it has been called, with the blue teak plank dial and then just a month ago I added the saffron Aqua Terra shades version. They are so alike yet so different, and both of them gets noticed by the enthusiast as well as the casual compliments from everyone else - NICE WATCH! The black dial is stunning, and I see your point in the area of "the next step" for Omega. Total fan boy here with 5 in all, but, your commentary is spot on. For me, an AT needs a teak dial. It elevates the watch through an “aspirational” narrative of enjoying it on one’s yacht.
Omega also needs to innovate more as you mentioned. The 8800 and 8900 are amazing but becoming long in the tooth. The next leap is. Taking those movements, keeping the robustness, and increasing power reserve and making them thinner.

Kudos to Omega for finally giving us an adjustable clasp (takes them forever to catch up). I see this fully polished AT to be a competitor to a smooth bezel Datejust on an oyster. And the color dial ATs compete with the Stella dial OPs. But I don't see any ATs competing with an Explorer. BTW, the full polish is a deal breaker for me - I don't like polished bracelets, PCLs or fully polished cases. Too blingy, too dressy and they are all scratch magnets. Bring on the titanium ATs! Cheers to another great episode!

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on amzwatch 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. I don’t understand everyone’s obsession with watches needing to be brushed. The best part of these watches is there pretty well rounded u can get the beautiful polished shine but also the accents/durability of the brushed. Everyone hates on the buttery fly claps but it nice to have a watch with a different clasp system. I have three omegas aqua terra, Seamaster and speedmaster. I like each for different reason and because of their differences. To many people want everything to be the same and in the end nothing will have it’s own character or charm.

Great video! I think you are the first to review this watch. My first impression was "oh that looks really clean." Then I was impressed that they made it in three sizes. I like the colored dials, but 38mm is too small for me. So I'm glad they made it in 41 also. But most importantly, I am shocked that Omega finally had the restraint to make it in one dial color. Historically they bring out 478 colors on day one. Bringing it out in one color makes it more special and allows them to bring out a new color next year.

I see your point. But I think Omega still deserves criticism for being slow to react, or slow to understand how this watch should be a staple of this collection. It should be the constant. The color dials might come and go, but this watch should have always existed. So strange to me that they killed it off. When I look at this entire collection, past and present, it's the silver and black versions from more than a decade ago that make me want to spend my money on them

Wonderfully insightful as usual. Myself, I think it’s a step back. And you illustrate that in this video. My problem with the AquaTerra has been with its one arrow hand-get rid of it Omega…and a non-orienting 12 o’clock makes my eyes swim all over the dial. The Planet Ocean also has this problem when reading it in the dark…at least both its hands have arrowheads keeping the balance. One more nitpick is the floating date window…almost want to see a partial marker underneath it. Keep up the great work and thanks!

Gorgeous. I've always liked these, as you know.... had the first generation 39mm and that was lovely, and 11mm thin too
Saving a few grand and then will likely decide between Sinn 556i, Longines Spirit 37mm or something else. Likely to be in the 36-38mm range.
My issue with modern omega is pretty much the simple price complaint.. for me at the moment the sweet spot is watches around £1000-2500 mark. I kind of feel wrong wearing anything more fancy or expensive if I'm too treat it as a daily
As somebody said "find a watch that you wear, and one that doesn't wear YOU"
so a watch that I'll be constantly worried about, and always aware of, will wear me.. I prefer a balance of tool / versatility / stress free
So yes... I'm not sure about omega these days man

They had the Shades in (which they've never had in previous visits) along with the Black dial. First time I saw it I thought WOW, that is stunning. Surprised the shop felt the need to display the watch with a clear film wrapper but there's no denying that this watch adds something to the Omega range that they've been lacking, something to rival, I'd say two Rolex models. With the added benefit that you can actually buy one! Well done Omega, a masterpiece.

It used to be that when it came to altering watch designs, Rolex was steering the Titanic making slow gradual changes, while Omea was like following a drunk driver at 1 am and watching the weave all over the road. Omega is trying to be more like Rolex, but a necessary prerequisite is finding the right designs in the first place.

Great review. Omega’s expensive vanilla ice cream competition to Rolex. And let me be the first to congratulate Omega on having 46,000 variants on the website - great achievement.
    Tapered bracelet or not?

Reminds me of my GS SBGA467. Very similar overall style and black is underrated. This Omega ticks all the boxes for all the reasons you mentioned, Mr. Guy, and more.
As I’m sure you’ve said, “simplicity is difficult. It leaves the watch nowhere to hide and everything needs to be perfect”……I dunno, maybe it was John Cleese who said it, but still true. You Britts are a clever bunch. 😉

Having tried the 41mm on…it is stunning, blacker than a BlackHole, the faceted indices shimmer like a diamond, the proportions and angles of that polished case is a beautiful thing. Considering selling my Speedy to make way for this watch, and hoping they bring out an deep inky blue variation, because as Ludacris said “but our time and clothes gotta coordinate”

Great insight as usual. I would have put the Omega Logo and wording at the 12 0’clock position, while losing the Seamaster in favor of AQUATERRA in italics, but directly on top of the word CO-AXIAL. Leave everything else as you suggested. I’ve been saying it, Omega needs to hire you as a Professional Consultant. You have a BRILLIANT mind Sir!

Similar to the Spectre Bond Seamaster with the logo placement? Man that would great... and thank you brother. To be able to consult with these big brands would be a dream, just to be able to give them that added 5% tweak BUT they have in-house teams that always listen to management (which 95% of the time squashes the creative process) 🥃

love it and way prefer it to the explorer - howeeeeeever, i never understand the pricing for the aqua terra - way more expensive then the SMP300 range?? why?? no bezel, less water resistance, no diver extension/micro adjust on the clasp...... crazy to place the AT above the SMP300.....

for years i did not consider the aqua terra due to the non-adjusting butterfly clasp. they finally did it, which is great, but i'm off to something simpler, a simple three-hander at 34mm.

The AT line is going after the OP/DJ
My prediction is a new Railmaster will be the rival to the Explorer.
It’ll be fully brushed compared to fully polished to justify needing both an AT and Railmaster

2:38 The date window on the 38mm sits too high compared to the 41mm version and it really, really bothers me. It utterly ruins the 38mm for me.

Great vid! Yes, I love it - but am completetly non-plussed by the polished case and bracelet. With the Railmaster discontinued I would have thought a fully brushed version would have been the natural evolution. I think they're giving away their continued obsession with their biggest rival, the Crown by following in the modern luxury/tool amalgamation. Perhaps it's unescapable in these aspirational/instagram-obsessed times?? 🔥🔥🔥

Love the dial choice and new style bracelet but agree on why the need for an all polished case. Plus that micro adjust is horrible. It leaves a gap between the links that looks like a $50 watch. As a design guy I’m stunned to hear you say it’s brilliant!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ It’s a huge miss for them. Credit for trying but they missed badly where they could have put some effort into it. Who on that team looked at this and said “yes, this is it”? Also I don’t see this as competing with the Explorer, but more with the DateJust. Just when I thought I’d buy one, I’ll wait…again!

The full polished case and bracelet feels like such a noob trap. Looks marvellous in photos and under the lights of the boutique when you see it in store. Only later to realise its a fingerprint and scratch magnet. I'm sure its an intentional design decision to appeal to the masses.

Great video and agree all the innovations!
My problem (and it is MY problem, not necessarily THE problem) is that a 38mm Ti black dial AQ with telescoping crown and colour matched date at 6 is a Christopher Ward C63 Elite with a £££$$$ markup, and they risk "doing a Bremont".
The CW is not METAS but it is COSC and offers all the above (3 piece clasp not butterfly) for 1200GBP approx. In my opinion their best GADA watch.
Well done CW for designing the 2026 Blaqua Terra, several years ahead of Omega. 🎉

The Aquaterra has always been a favorite of mine, even over the Speedmaster and Seamaster. I cannot fully explain it, but it has to do with its simple yet elegant design language. If they came out with a white enamel dial with blued hands and indices, I think it would push me over the edge and I would have to get one.

  • @RedwoodAggie
    @RedwoodAggie 6 месяцев назад

It's more Explorer-like, but I always felt the recently discontinued railmaster was more the Explorer-like offering from Omega. It wasn't quite there either though. The lack of polish anywhere feels maybe TOO tool-ish for such an expensive watch. I hope they are going to come out with a new version at this point, or maybe the Railmaster was discontinued in lieu of this new AT. I'd love to see a 38mm Railmaster in titanium though, but a bit less muted (no polished bracelet links though). It would definitely need the adjustable clasp, which is one of the reasons I did not get the previous Railmaster.

I own the Aqua Terra with the white dial and orange second hand. The only thing I don't like is the crown...the taper forms a "sharp" edge that digs into the fingers and makes it pretty uncomfortable to operate; it's unfortunate they didn't address that.

      @ID-Guy  7 месяцев назад

Their "Muffin Crown" was an interesting choice to say the least 😆 You're not the first person to complain about how its difficult to operate (maybe that's why I want to hide the crown altogether on these pieces?) Haha! Thanks for sharing Dale 🥃

Also completely agree on the polished case. That’s gonna be an instant scratch magnet. But the one great advantage of the aqua Terra over the explorer is the date. How Rolex can make an explorer without a date and be successful is quite astonishing. A true explorer needs a date, if he’s out there, to keep proper track of time. And without a cyclops.

I agree. This is a nice watch for sure. Shame they didn’t innovate with the titanium version and the pop-out crown. They’re too conservative I suppose.
