If you have a Serta Motion Perfect delivered and assembled at your house, be sure to ask that they adjust the leg height as they assemble. With a thick mattress, you nearly always want the lowest option - but the highest option is their default. I'm going to pay for a repair call to get them adjusted a couple of months later. I can't see how to do it safely myself. Would love a RUclips on that!

I was about to leave a comment saying that these adjustable beds were overpriced and don't buy them. Then, he said the prices of each and he shut my mouth up. That's what I get for assuming.
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. For each of the bases shown, the height shown in the video is the tallest possibility, and you can lower them in 2-3" increments from there (IIRC the legs consist of two 3" segments + one 2" segment that can be screwed together in any order or permutation). Both the Motion Essentials and Motion Perfect bases do have a zero clearance design, which means they can be used without legs at all, so that would be the lowest they can be (~8" lower than what is shown). Of course, most people would only remove the legs entirely if they were planning to put the base on a platform. I hope that's helpful.
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Mattress Firm is not an adjustable base manufacturer, so any base they are selling under their own brand is certainly made by someone else. That said, I'm not familiar enough with their current "house brand" assortment to know who makes it or to compare it with these models. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this one.

I have a solid one piece King mattress.
Hi Ron. Thanks for the questions. Unfortunately, we looked at the queen base, and don't have answers to hand specifically about the king model. I think your best be is to talk to a Serta dealer. The Serta website has a store locator where you can find a dealer near you www.serta.com/store-locator
Hi. That mattress is certainly safe to use on an adjustable base. While we have not tried that exact model on an adjustable base, our guess would be that it will have some small issues typical of firm mattresses -- you can expect some conformance issues, like lifting at the foot, and when you get out of the bed while it's in a "bent" position, it might try to pop back up in the middle. That's all common with firm mattresses that are lighter in weight. Those types of conformance issues usually get better as you use the mattress and break it in. Sometimes we see a lot of bunching of the quilt/top layer when bent, but this mattress does not have particularly deep quilting on top, so we would not expect any issues there. Hope that helps!
OK but it is a purchase that you only make one time or maybe every 10 or 20 years. So it it not like it is a recurring expense like your mortgage or rent.
Does Serta still make the Motion Perfect base? I noticed it looks like both head and foot end each have dual actuators towards the outside. Is that how it's made? I'm looking for a base built like that.
Hi David -- Thanks for your question. AFAIK Serta has never actually manufactured their own adjustable bases. Typically, mattress brands will design the specifications for an adjustable base and the contract out the manufacturing to a 3rd party. Naturally, the manufacturing partners are subject to change over time, but the brand themselves (Serta in this case) is typically the company that stands behind the resulting product. As far as your question, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "dual actuators towards the outside". Are you referring to a split base design whereby each side of the base can be independently raised and lowered? If so, this is typically achieved by purchasing two separate Twin XL bases (and mattresses) that can be placed side by side and will fit inside a king-size bed frame. The alternative is to purchase a special mattress with a split head (available from some manufacturers in queen, king, and cal king). I hope that's helpful.
Hi KeKe. By 'existing bed frame' are you talking about a piece of furniture? Then yes -- it can be used with a headboard/rails. You may need to order an adapter kit, depending on the furniture you have, and of course it is a good idea to measure since all furniture is a bit different.
This base is sold out in every size, so can you please recommend other bases with the wall hugger feature. I like the way this one splits in the middle rather than having the whole mattress slide one way or another. We are looking for a split king. Thanks.
Hi Celine. The ongoing shipping backups have impacted the mattress industry too.... Take a look at the Lineal base -- this is the model we use in all of our reviews to test mattresses, and it does have a wallhugger feature. It's available in both split king and split california king sizes: www.goodbed.com/o/m/saatva/ Hope that helps!
@@goodbed Ended up ordering a Leggett and Platt so hoping it works out. Reviews are good and the zero clearance may be nice as I may build a platform. Thanks fir your suggestion. Your videos are great!
Hi Cristina -- The version we tested here had head tilt feature, but not a lumbar support feature. That said, we have tested bases with a lumbar support flap that tilts up and pushes up into the mattress under your lumbar area and have found these to have a pronounced effect. Just be aware that a) most people won't generally want / need to activate the lumbar support when your hear or foot is elevated, and b) you will only want to use the lumbar support when you are on your back as it can actually be counter-productive from a spinal alignment standpoint when you are lying in other positions. I hope that's helpful.
On the Motion Perfect, the end of the mattress where your feet are will be laying on top of the black pieces that the metal retainer bar attaches to. Isn't that bad for the underside of the mattress to always be laying on the two raised up black pieces?
Hi. Ah -- I see what you mean. Those two attachments aren't very big, and keep in mind that not much weight will be on that part of the mattress (just your feet). We haven't heard of this ever being an issue, but I can see where you might think it could be.
Hi Lee -- Thanks for your question. This depends entirely on the mattress. For some mattresses, bending them like this can be fatal, leaving damage that can not be repaired and a voided warranty. That said, many mattresses today are specifically designed to be used this way. But even for those mattresses, the degree to which they are adjustable base compatible is not as black or white as they'd like you to believe. For this reason, we test and rate adjustable base compatibility in each of our in-depth mattress reviews, so if this is an important criteria for you, I'd suggest checking out the products we've reviewed and rated highly on this front as a starting point. I bought the 900i with a 25cm mattress. I don’t like the height of it. If I did remove the 6inch legs will this be a problem? I have the 3inch leg which I can attach to the 6inch making 9inch. But the Manuel reads not to attach the 3inch alone. Any recommendations?
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I would surmise that that the reason the manual states this is because the mechanical parts under the platform that elevate the mattress need a certain amount of clearance to be able to function. So that if you were to try to elevate the base with only 3" legs, these parts would hit the floor and the base would not be able to fully elevate. Worse yet, doing this could even damage the base and likely would void your warranty as well. That said, we would recommend calling the manufacturer to confirm this. It's possible they have an accessory to solve the problem. I hope that's helpful.
Hi there. Thanks for the question. Most mattresses today will work on an adjustable base, and the product information will always tell you if they are compatible. Generally, a mattress that's all-foam will work, as well as hybrid (innerspring) mattresses that use pocketed coils. Any mattress that comes compressed and shipped in a box is going to be compatible. The ones you should question are older-style innerspring beds, particularly ones with a metal wire that runs along the edge of the bed. That metal cable isn't meant to bend, and the mattress will be ruined if you try to use it on an adjustable base. Hi. It's heavy. Best I could find is around 200 pounds total. Depending on where you ordered, setup might be included, or perhaps an option at an additional cost.
Hi Debbie -- Thanks for your question. Most adjustable bases will have a place to attach either a headboard or bed frame to them. This would work in much the same way as you would attach a headboard to a conventional bed frame. @@debbiereed8017 Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of that advice. I could see how that could be an issue if it's just a single bolt on each side of the bed but if there are two bolts (one on top of each other) on each side of the bed then I would think that would be sufficient. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.
Can you put any kind of mattress with these adjustable bases??..which mattress is better for these kind of adjustable bases?..is memory foam better than coil spring mattress??
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Any mattress that is compatible for use on an adjustable base (which is the majority of mattresses these days) would be compatible with these bases. Hi Izu. It's kind of a moot question because the Slim has been discontinued. Now, Serta sells just the Essentials and the Perfect. But the Essentials does come with a 20-year limited warranty from Serta, with the electronics covered for 5 years. Hope that's helpful!
What is the max weight for all 3 bases? What type of warranties and what’s cover? And how good are they for adult activates like how strong will they hold up
Hi Jorge. There is a good comparison chart on the Serta website that includes features, weight limits and warranty info: www.serta.com/adjustable-foundations#compare-foundations In short, the "Essentials" has a limit of 650 and the "Perfect" is 850. As for adult activities, many couples enjoy adjustable bases since raising the head or foot of the bed can allow for different and more comfortable positions. A well-made supportive adjustable base will have no stability issues with typical use, which certainly includes sex. Hope that helps!

Hi Spara -- Thanks so much for your feedback. I sincerely appreciate it. Yes, this video aims to provide a higher-level overview of all 3 bases in the current Serta line-up, rather than a more in-depth look at each base, in order to help people understand the key functional differences between them. Nonetheless, it's helpful to know that you would have found those additional details useful in this video. We'll certainly consider that feedback in future videos that we do. Thanks again.

Hi Izu. It's kind of a moot question because the Slim has been discontinued. Now, Serta sells just the Essentials and the Perfect. But the Essentials does come with a 20-year limited warranty from Serta, with the electronics covered for 5 years.
Hope that's helpful!
@@goodbed thanks it helps. i will go with essentials IV as its more afforable than the perfect
What is the max weight for all 3 bases? What type of warranties and what’s cover? And how good are they for adult activates like how strong will they hold up
Hi Jorge. There is a good comparison chart on the Serta website that includes features, weight limits and warranty info: www.serta.com/adjustable-foundations#compare-foundations
In short, the "Essentials" has a limit of 650 and the "Perfect" is 850. As for adult activities, many couples enjoy adjustable bases since raising the head or foot of the bed can allow for different and more comfortable positions. A well-made supportive adjustable base will have no stability issues with typical use, which certainly includes sex.
Hope that helps!
Thank u! I couldn't figure it out, then I checked under my bed... only to learn my cat unplugged my base unit... she's always unplugging something. I guess that's what happens when a female cat is called Guy..
A cat's revenge 🐈😑
LOL!! That is hysterical! Thanks for sharing and glad nothing is broken! Feels like there's a Johnny Cash song in that story somewhere! ;)
looks like a wide electronic recliner
brackets for 3-ft Bircham headboard,

Everyone eventually ends up in an adjustable bed. DON'T BUY CHEAP BASES!! I sell them trust me
Spara Dial what is the best quality base ??
Thank you
@@JustMe-kf3gu to bad he never replied. I’d like to know as well.
If your going to comment than you need to elaborate
He's leaving out a lot of info.. weight capacity, leg adjustments, floor clearance
Does the Serta Motion Slim model support installation of headboard brackets?
Hi Gregory. The Motion Slim is no longer in production. Now they have the Essentials and the Motion Perfect. The Motion Perfect comes with headboard brackets, while they are an option for the Essentials model.
Hope that's helpful!
Can you hook up your headboard to it? If so which model is it
Hi Marco -- Thanks for your question. It may depend on your headboard, but in general you should be able to, at least with the Motion Essentials and Motion Perfect models (www.serta.com/adjustable-foundations#compare-foundations), and possibly the Slim as well. I hope that's helpful.
