    Hi Karina, thank you so much for this video. I had to laugh when you said you added a 'whopping' 3 inches to the dress length for the Cadence. I am 5'10" and have to do that to customize ALL my patterns to make them fit. I am tall all over, so I add 3.5 inches in three different places. Its a lot of work but so worth it.
    Keep up your amazing work, you are hands down one of the most positive women I know, I just love watching you and getting your input and playful but amazing tweaks on many patterns.

    This was a fun video showing us how many different looks can be made from the same pattern. Honestly with a pant or skirt pattern, we could have a full closet of changes with just 3 patterns. It is so nice you can still get nice leather handbags. In Canada it is so hard to get a reasonably priced bag. We do have artisans on the island here that make gorgeous custom bags and really with all the work that goes into them they are worth it, just not in my budget. I have a couple that I treasure.

    Oh myyyyyy! I was totally shocked to see what you have done with this pattern! Each one is executed masterfully!!! But when you got to the tonal out fit, I gasped! So understated and sophisticated! And thank you for showing your front, side and back necklines because for me, it is so helpful. The round neckline with the v-shape closeup gave me a better feel about the blend of pattern and fabric and process with the outcome of the interfacings. Now I really get it and I think adding this extra part will be worth it! I really don't like the look of the floppy points after a few washings. Ten million kisses and thank you's for all your effort!!!

    Hi Karina, enjoyed this video very much! Great to see all your cadence makes together. I appreciated the tip about double interfacing the notch area (I stopped making notches years ago because they always flop), and wondered if you also double interfaced the back for continuiity?-- So that there's not a noticeable difference in structure between front-and back neck area? But they wondered how bulky the shoulder seem would become. Please let us know! I would definitely give this a go if I knew

    Your makes and videos are so overwhelming and beautiful. I have to go back several times to look for what I want. You are great. I saw the flare sleeve on the blue top is hemmed. Some say they don’t hem them. How did you hem them without puckering?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 года назад

      You can’t leave a woven flounce unhemmed. I folded up by 1/8” and then 1/4” and hand basted the hem before sewing with the machine.

    Karina, you do such a wonderful job teaching and explaining so many aspects of sewing and I appreciate it! On that last dress with the notched neckline, how would I raise the neckline if it is too low for me? Thanks for any help you can give me.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 года назад +1

      To raise the neckline, I’d use a curved ruler to draw the line higher. I’d keep the same angle of the little V. Then you draw a facing on your new neckline that’s the same width as the original. Trace it onto another paper and you have a new facing.

  • @marygood906
    @marygood906 2 года назад +3

    How wide do you generally cut your bias binding?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 года назад +8

      I’ll answer in metric: 3.5cm or 35mm or in Imperial 1 3/8”. I use the bias tape maker with 18 on the other side. It’s almost 3/4” wide when finished.

    I am sewing muslin of the Cadence with cotton fabric my friend brought me from the DRC. I am making just the shirt to see how it fits.
    Do you include the slits? I am making the XL with FB. I haven’t sewn the sides yet, but I think it is going to be too full.
