Thank you so much Karina for this video. I love when you do these types of videos because I learn so much. I have not found anyone else that goes into as much detail as you do. You have helped me understand fabric so much. Thank you!
That is true. Your tutorials don't rush through things and I love that you baste when it will help. I love to baste, I hate using a seam ripper I consider it a proactive skill. 😊
Hi Karina, excellent lesson, thank you. Maybe now I will feel a little less intimidated by all the wonderful ITY in my stash and actually make something. Brilliant! Laura 🐨💜
I love ITY. Last summer I made a travel capsule wardrobe for a warm climate made of a lot of ITY which all fit in a small backpack. I showed it in an ASG Stule Show at Puyallup Sew Expo. And no wrinkles as I pulled each item out of the backpack. I used primarily my serger. This summer I have lost 40 lbs, about 19 kg and need smaller clothes. Fortunately I have a lot of ITY and many of the patterns you demonstrated. Working on refitting my tried and true patterns now.
I love ITY in summer. There is no other fabric that is so comfortable when it's hot. This technique with a V neckline and binding is very helpful for the technique tool. Thank you!
Love all all your dresses and blouses, thy are the time of clothes I love and feel comfortable in.... as you I love all those prints and the softness of the fabrics.....❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
It’s gorgeous karina. I might just have to try this in ITY too. all of my others are in linen blend, cotton lawn or rayon and they all look like they are from different patterns. Thanks again for sharing your creativity. Xxx
This is such useful video about sewing with ITY. It's a fave fabric of mine. I've adopted several of the techniques you have shared in previous videos and they've helped me so much. The tiny V binding is brilliant and I'll definitely use it. Love your knit Rhapsody! Thank you, Karina!
I JUST opened the most beautiful ITY I ordered for Cali Fabrics and you’re video came on - perfect timing!! You are such an inspiration to us beginners!!
I love the Rhapsody!! I can't thank you enough for showing us all the info about the fabric and putting in the neckline. I think I'll want to practice the "V" on some scrap fabric before I try to do it on my blouse. Thank you so much!
This was so informative and helpful! I have acquired a lot of ITY, and have hesitated using it because I didn't know what details and styles it would and would not be good for. Thank you so much for all your tips. You show and explain things so very well!!!
I got an amazing top in Costa Rica years ago that I now know is ITY thanks to this video. Cool to touch and wear, beautiful drape and it took about 20 years of use to pill under the arms. I don't think my local fabric store here in Canada carries ITY regularly. I've never seen it anyway. Thank you for a super informative video.
This is my all time favorite kind of fabric... in this blouse is perfect for this kind of material... thank you for the pointed binding technique... all your Rhapsodies are beautiful...
Thank you so much. You are so informative and I am no longer afraid of sewing ITY. I have several ITY fabrics that I ordered thinking I was getting something else. Showing us lots of different styles you have sewn has been very helpful and I’m excited to get started.
Thank you so much for this video! I haven't sewn with knits yet but have found a beautiful print I want to use. Seeing you in the Camilla Cowl...It is exactly what I have been looking for.
Thank you for this video. I had not heard of ITY until a few months ago, and I’ve been sewing since I was 16. Generally I avoid polyester. But I think I have a Tshirt from a club I belong to, made of ITY and I like it very much. I’m going to save this video.
This is exactly the video I've been looking for. I need to learn more about knits and ITY was definitely on the top of my list. Thanks so much for making it.
Thank you for this video. When I first started sewing about 50 years ago, knits did not really exist. Having come back to sewing after a very long break, there are all these lovely knit fabrics but I haven't know what to do with so many; ITY being one of them. I have noticed that you do use it a lot in your makes. Now I understand how it drapes, I will have more confidence in buying the fabric and making it up. The top is fab.
Love this format. It’s like meeting a group of friends, but they are dresses! Love the pattern matching and technical details. The ITY bonus top is really beautiful. Looks high end.
Thanks alot Karina, your video's are very inspiring. This blouse fits you perfectly just like all your makes. That is what I love best,a perfect fit.Greetings from South Africa.Ive visited Brasil in Dec 2019 and loved it .
I’d love to try an electric scissors but have not found one to purchase here. So far the blade is good as long as I’m changing them frequently because I use it so much.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I bought one that is called EC cutter at Jamestown Distributors. I paid $89 USD about 5 years ago. Now they raised the price to $140! I don’t know where you could get them where you’re at.
Thank you for posting this! I will definitely be giving this a try eventually. I think this would work great with the Ballad Blouse, too! Thank you for your hard work!
I don’t. I’ve never been able to find one to purchase locally. I use a big book instead :) For this type of knit, not even the clapper will set a crease well though
Karina thank you so much! On the cardigan you showed, it appeared you have a separate band (almost like a narrow band on a kimono. Can you share how you did this? Is the band a straight piece? Or cut to shape like a facing?
Thank you for this clear explanation about ITY. I had been wondering for some time what fabric this would be, as we do not use this name in Belgium and surrounding countries. According to your explanation, we call this fabric "travel jersey" because it does not wrinkle at all. All the properties you mention are the same for this fabric . However, besides elasthan, polyamide is usually used instead of polyester, or a combination of polyamide and viscose. Do you think it's the same fabric?
What a fabulous vlog. Very informative. Thank-you so much for all you do on your channel. Quick question....although ity is a lightweight fabric to sew, it can be quite heavy. Do you ever reinforce where the bodice meets the skirt? Just wondering if a maxi length dress might distort/ pull on the bodice? Thanks again 😊
Some patterns recommend clear elastic in the seam but I find it abrasive on my skin. I never do it. Knit bodices are usually drafted shorter to account for the weight of the skirt. It’s why these styles recommend vertical stretch in the knit too.
I have heard of ITY many times but never knew what it was. Thank you so much for all of the details about this fabric. I do t know if I have ever seen it before, but I will be on the lookout for some. I live in a warm and humid climate so this will be fabulous! I love your videos! I learn so much!! It’s so great for travel. I took my ITY dresses to Rio, they got worn, wet in the ocean and no drama :)
Wow, ITY doesn’t wrinkle in a backpack? I never knew!
Brilliant v neck tutorial and great to know this pattern is fab in stretch fabric. Thank You. 🙌❤️💜💙💚
You’re welcome 😊

I used to have a hard time finding it when I lived in Bolivia but there’s a lot here. It’s harder to find in Chile.

Thank you, Karina! I have been recently very confused about ITY! Can you also talk about Liverpool.
That’s a harder one for me because I can rarely find it here and have less experience working with it.
That was great Karina. Lots of really useful information and inspiration. Will be checking out ity for my next Rapsody. 🤓🏴
Karina do you have a clapper? It does wonders when ironing/pressing and sets the press in the fabric so nicely. 🥰

Great video! I would like to know what fabric your slips are. Nylon tricot, I find, is very hot to wear in the hot 🥵 weather.
The ones I have are polyamide and spandex and are super light weight.
Hi Carina! Would you please share with me the title of the video in which you sewed the black lace top that you have on? Thank you!

What you say sounds like the same. Yes I have seen these made with Polyamide too.
Did I miss it? What did you use to line the ITY knits?
Self lining :) or another color ITY. I mentioned cutting a double layer. I guess I thought it was understood of the same :)
