That story about your husband is hilarious to me. My husband is fairly short on compliments too, but when he does compliment it's always so random. I made a knit top with rouching down the center front recently, and his thoughts were "Did you make that? That doesn't look like you made it. It looks like something Dolly Parton would wear." 🤣I don't know where he got that, but it was so funny, and I definitely took it at as a compliment coming from him. He does keep me humble about my makes in general LOL. But yeah, that dress does look especially great on you. Sometimes you just don't know until you try something.
Oh my goodness, Whitney! This dress is so amazing for you! The color with your hair and the blue tassels and the sleeves and the length... It all just WORKS!! Big wow!! 😻
I think the ruffled dress looks so nice on you! You are so right on trying new things , I have found this to be so true. It can be rather scary as I don't want to make something I won't wear, but it either turns out or a lesson, both a win.
I agree with your husband on this one. Something about the ruffles actually minimizes your bust and is very slimming. I’m glad you got the chance to try it.
Oh. My. Goodness! I am also really surprised by this dress. It is SO flattering, and I truly would never have expected it to be. I too avoid ruffles like these, for the same reason you do. I always assume that my very full bust will not be served well by ruffles, particularly the volume of ruffles that this dress has. I would just imagine that I would look like a very fancy golf tee.😂 Thank you for reminding me that “rules” are not always written in stone. ❤
🙏Thanks. Patterns are such an unexpected part of the rising prices in this economy. Appreciate the price cut tip. Much love to you and yours. Love your channel. I learn by doing and I have adhd so these videos are very helpful. 🌞🦚🙏
Ok, the interaction with your husband was funny!😂 I think the dress looks wonderful on you, and those tassels are a true moment!!!!! Btw, thank you for creating the sewalong in accordance with the instructions. It is such a huge help!
When I checked out the pattern on Cashmerette this month I had the same reaction. I am thinking no ruffles. It is gorgeous on you! Maybe I will try it now. Thanks for your videos.
The dress looks fantastic on you. I would love to see one made in a print. Staying in sewing as our temps way up in 90’s with heat index 110. Supposed be getting quite a bit of rain also. You rock the ruffles.
When I the club pattern this month, I was disappointed. This dress looks fantastic on you! It shows how a designer who drafts for curves makes such a difference. ❤
Wow Whitney , when I saw the dress on your mannequin I thought hmmmm not so sure. Then seeing it on you my eyes popped open as to how GREAT it looks on you . Goes to show you we do need to step out of our comfort zone some times .
I saw the dress on the mannequin.and was ho hum, then you showed it on you, and I was stunned by how great it is on you. The colour ,and even all those extras, perfect! the Tassel really tops it all off! I will copy the tassel idea asap 😁 (I am now seeing another comment that is virtually identical to mine, you have surprised and inspired many of us to try something unexpected )
I was also skeptical when I first saw the Loring. It looks wonderful on you! I love the yellow fabric with teal contrast. I also like how it looks on the models and I think I have to try it.
That is a fabulous address! Hey, your husband said he likes it more than some of the others, not that he does not like the others. And I agree, I think that’s one of my favorites of yours. You have quite a few that I lovethough. I also didn’t think that Style worked well on me and then I bought one for my son’s wedding in the Dominican and it was lovely.
Thanks Whitney! Your dress is fabulous. I'm definitely not a "ruffle girly". But this one and every other version I've seen is making me rethink that.😊 I may find an affordable fabric and give it a try. If nothing else, it's a great skill builder, and that is always worthwhile.
So I agree with you. I would think the ruffles would have been too much. But it looks great on you. I think it makes you look very balanced. I looks feminine but not too sweet. I think the width of the ruffles may be making the difference.
I love it! What a great look! Well of course, I need a Loring Dress. Whitney: You look awesome in this style. I hope to see you do more of these. What a great look!
I have used the same fabric from Joann's for a pair of shorts and woven joggers and it's wonderful to wear, very nice for summer. It looks great in this design and all the proportions and ruffles work together beautifully. I'm not sure it would work in a print as well (maybe without the neckline ruffle?) but the solid color and the drape of this fabric is perfection! 🌞
Yes, the green and white medium scale print is not very busy & without the ruffle or sleeves isn't overwhelming. Jenny is also a little taller than average which helps with the proportions.
I'm thinking of hacking the pattern to make a peplum blouse with puffy sleeves. I've got some Liberty lawn I've been hoarding! Time to use the good stuff 😊
It’s a good thing I’m not a betting woman. I would have never bet that this dress with all those ruffles at your chest and sleeves would complement your figure, but, it certainly did! I think one reason is your choice of a solid color and secondly your fabric substrate choice offered just enough body. I would have passed on this dress based on line drawings alone. Seeing it on you makes all the difference in the world! Great advice given in this episode, Whitney! ❤
I absolutely love that dress on you! I'm loving your Cashmerette dresses, however I am a A cup. Do you think I would have to do a small bust adjustment if I made one of their patterns? Thank you for all the inspiration you give!
Depending on your measurements, yes, you may need to do a FBA. I would reach out to Cashmerette with that question--they have excellent customer service!
@@TomKatStitchery the Frocktails event I am going to is in Calgary, Canada. This is the second year for the event I n Calgary. We have a great sewing community in Calgary.
This mustard color dress does look good on you though as a fellow short person, I’d loose some of the ruffles for me. It also looks like loads of fun to wear and that color which would make most of us look ill, is stunning on you. I find with Cashmerette, the genius is in the fit. They are amazing. Your husband sounds like mine.😂
Ha, Ithink our husbands were separated at birth. 😂 I really like this dress, it's great on you. I am so not a cottage core person, being an older person and very petite, though it's something I would have worn when I was younger. I wonder, though, if your idea of stepping out of the style box might give my flagging motivation a boost.
Love LOVE this dress! I do agree with your husband: I think this pattern is a very flattering one for your body proportions. I'm a busty lady too, but I've always worn ruffles, because I like them and I do find they often 'minimize' my ample breasts instead of highlighting them. I think the colour is a very good choice too: I love the combination with the teal tassles. I'm a little in love with the dress 🥰
Could you use quilting cotton for this pattern? Or would it be too structured....I love this. I thought it would be awful with those ruffles on the neckline, but it is really nice.
I had the same thought as you about the ruffled neckline as I too am large breasted. Seeing it on you, I have to agree with you husband. It is very flattering on you. Wouldn't have considered it for myself until seeing it on you. Thanks for your videos.

We would all be so lucky to be put into the same sentence as Dolly Parton! She's an icon and now you are too!!
The dress is beautiful and you look amazing.
You are so kind

You should!

Yes! The risk is worth it!
That mustard dress is so cute on you. So fun. Love its ruffles on you. Glad you had to sew it and found it to be such a winner.
It was the little push outside of the box that I needed to try something different!
It's a beautiful dress and looks gorgeous on you 🎉

I agree--the full ruffle version is perfect for solids or very small prints. Did you see the version that Jenny from Cashmerette made???
Yes, the green and white medium scale print is not very busy & without the ruffle or sleeves isn't overwhelming. Jenny is also a little taller than average which helps with the proportions.
Beautiful!!!! 😍😍😍
Thank you!! 😊
Wow! Looks so great on you!
Thank you so much

Hi Whitney! Beautiful dress, love the ruffles on you! Just wondering how much yardage you used? ❤
I bought 7 yards and used a majority of it. Those ruffles take up a lot of fabric!
Could you use quilting cotton for this pattern? Or would it be too structured....I love this. I thought it would be awful with those ruffles on the neckline, but it is really nice.
I think the ruffles would have a lot of volume with quilting cotton. Which, if you are looking for volume it would work!
