    $37 a month is good, but I bet you can do better. The issue with staying with one insurer and being a "loyal customer" is that they almost always raise your rates when it comes time to renew. Kind of like how your landlord increases your rent every year. I like to shop around and get a cheaper rate whenever that happens. This year I'm paying $25/month (thru Insurance Panda), but my auto policy is about to expire so it's time to start looking around for better rates.
    Any suggestions?

    Love the video! Another tip if you have State Farm: if you graduated from college (with your AA or your Bachelor's) with a 3.0+ GPA, you can get the "good student" discount permanently.

    • @billwashinski4961
      @billwashinski4961 6 лет назад +8

      Hint; So does every other insurance company that is not non-standard. State Farm does not care about Auto Insurance. They are like checking accounts to a bank, they start a relationship and want to get the higher ticket items; annuities, life insurance, commercial policies, homeowners, etc. They also have an internal proprietary rating score based not just on how long you've had insurance, but how long you've carried say: 100/300 bodily injury coverage -- among other factors they don't share.

    • @slicklizardchamp
      @slicklizardchamp 6 лет назад +5

      Depends what you mean by permanently. It stays on your policy until you’re 25 and no longer a youthful operator, then it comes off. But yes if you graduate college at 21 it stays on there until you’re 25, regardless of gpa.

    Very sensible, particularly because in the event of an accident the money you have been saving can easily be applied to the purchase of another Porsche for a very reasonable price tag. Not a Porsche guy myself, but I think the Boxster's of that era go for $6-7k. Based on what you used to pay, $2-3 hundred more per 6-month cycle or $4-6 hundred more per year, you are saving up to 11.6% of the car's value per year. In other words, in less than ten years you could buy another Boxster with the savings alone, regardless of if you had an accident or not. Well played, well played.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  6 лет назад +1

      Exactly my thought. I worked it out to be around 8-10 years of not buying two way insurance. Of course, it's a moving target since the car depreciates every year. They say the price of my car has hit the bottom already and might be going up after a while, lol.

Saying you are a member of a group, buying a share of stock (not counting the transaction fee to do so) nor mentioning rate evasion and misrepresentation of miles actually driven -- and for what use -- he could get his policy cancelled if Gieco witnessed his actual data. They'd send a letter and if returned -- realize he doesn't live in that zip code where you have to drive 20 miles to get milk and cancel him.

    I pay 180.00 a month for a full cover and the reason these insurances are so expensive is because no one is policing them. Also you’re forced to pay them by law. If the government don’t regulate them they will continue to give the same sad story every six months about how much money they are losing and how sad life is for them while their shares get more and more valuable which means they are lying to your face. I hate them and for that, and also for the ridiculous high price of rent lately (due to foreigners buying homes be remote control and jacking the prices up) I am moving out of the states. My own country has failed me. Good bye USA.

    Awesome, I just got off the phone with Geico and now I have an "affiliate membership discount" - $20.40 (for 6 months). I just mentioned the policy discount thing like having a share of Geico and/or Berkshire Hathaway B. (without having to provide any additional information) and it worked! I have a ton of discounts in affiliation with Geico already, but I didn't know owning a share of Warren Buffet's company would give me an actual discount! Like I graduated college with an honor society National Society of Collegiate that kept spamming us with Geico membership discounts, and they didn't even accept it because I already had like 5 discounts going for me! BUT WOW, just mentioning you own a share of GEICO or BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY B paves the wave!

    Here in the uk insurance is different.
    We have to have at minimum 3rd party which covers the other person in a crash
    Because of this prices are higher than America. Also in USA you insure the car, and anyone can drive the car with permission. In the uk each person has to be insured. So if I was insured on a car, my brother would also need his own insurance on the same car, under the same policy.
    My car insurance on a very cheap, old car was £3000 (when ex’s he rate was £1:$1.64) which means I paid just under $5,000 for the year

    You can lower your coverage even more by dropping Medpay coverage. Assuming you carry health insurance that would cover you for any injuries sustained in an accident. Same goes for uninsured motorist injury coverage.

    • @susang1205
      @susang1205 7 лет назад +3

      Not a good idea at all to ever drop Medpay coverage. And if you don't have it, be sure you get it and think of it as it protects you and everyone inside the vehicle. Depending on the policy, insurances offer various amounts of coverage from anywhere of $2500 - $100K. I tend to go for the highest coverage because one ride in an ambulance and an E.R. visit or hospital stay can reach up over $50K FAST. Medpay covers that 100% without a Deductable. Medpay is not only for the driver but for EVERYONE who rides in your car. Should there ever be an accident and your passengers are injured, THE DRIVER'S PERSONAL HEALTH INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER YOUR PASSENGERS. I've had several cases where the driver did not have Medpay, and the passengers (who were relatives) had to sue the driver's insurance for all medical bills. There were FOUR passengers. Now, had she had the Medpay insurance, which costs very little btw, the Medpay would have covered each person in the car including the driver up to $10K / person, which is what she originally had on her policy before she canceled to 'save money'. It was a very dumb move to try and save pennies when it came to serious injuries not only for herself but her family. In fact, it ended up costing the driver much much more; then, to make matters worse, that insurance co. canceled her policy! And no, I do not sell insurance.

    • @annietasker214
      @annietasker214 7 лет назад

      Bodily injury coverage (which is still on his policy) would cover injuries to his passengers.

    • @susang1205
      @susang1205 7 лет назад

      No, not necessarily. On most basic liability car insurance policies, a passenger is not covered. Many people mistakenly think that bodily injury limits coverage will cover passengers in their vehicles. However, bodily injury limits only cover passengers in a different car than the insured. You really need to ask your ins. agent to explain your auto ins. disclosures to you IN DETAIL, because the lack of knowledge may end up costing you or those you love in your vehicle much more either financially or physically if you have an accident. You also need to take into consideration that you will pay your deductible for use of bodily injury liability portion because you are paying for others outside your car and are a risk to the insurance company that you may have caused the accident. Note on your Medpay, unlike some personal healthcare insurances, there is NO deductible and immediate 100% coverage towards your and your passengers' healthcare providers or health related services such as hospital or ambulance costs. With auto injuries, use the Medpay first and when it is maxed out, THEN you use the personal healthcare insurance to cover the difference.

    • @annietasker214
      @annietasker214 7 лет назад

      False. Bodily injury coverage covers injuries for which you are liable regardless if where they are. .. passengers in your car, someone else's car or even pedestrians. The only exception would be for relatives that live with you (spouse/kids). Maybe you need a new agent if they are not correctly explaining how your coverages work. And there is no deductible on bodily injury coverage.

      BeatTheBush I have been through traffic school so many times and it really does help. These days it is harder to keep off record just by being across county lines in Tennessee. I noticed my car insurance went up $100 and something for a year. I thought it was a speeding ticket. Apparently, I negotiated with the judge well to keep it off record by saying I just got married and taking responsibility for it. She said it would go on my record as the courtroom was laughing and sighing at the unbelievable amount of tickets I've gotten. I think she was embarrassed to say out loud it was not going on my record by the courtroom response. It could have been too that I said I felt I was harassed by the police. Either way, it appears the reason it went up to me is they claimed on my insurance statement that everyone's insurance was going up because of new laws (sounds like an excuse to go up). I have been accident free and was really good at staying out of at fault accidents. That is why I am here is to save money. My experience with a speeding ticket is you want traffic school if you can't somehow prove not at fault, lime a picture of the speed limit sign.

    Excellent video! One thing you have to be careful of is too much reduction in liability. We both have Boxsters. By some awful stroke of luck you or I hit a pedestrian or some child that runs in the street to get a ball, you can rest assure that that person's lawyer is going to go after every dime you have. $500,000/$1,000,000 coverage will motivate the insurance company to fight for you. $100,000 the insurance company will roll over and pay and let you absorb the massive excess costs, which the other guy's lawyer is going to aim very high on, partly because he knows you will never win sympathy in court (if it goes that far) with a Boxster.

    Hey BTB, I just switched from Progressive to Geico. I am paying about $28 per month with various discounts applied. I appreciate your efforts to educate viewers about possible discounts, however, there are a few oversights in your presentation. I am NOT an insurance agent or affiliated with Geico in any way. But a review of Geico's Discount List does in fact innumerate the discounts you list and many others. However, if you look below their list it gives more details to each possible discount. For example, if your vehicle has full front air bags it says you can save 40%. But that's only PARTIALLY true! If one looks at the details under Air Bag Discount, it says "...These discounts apply to the medical payments or personal injury portion of your car insurance premium". Another example is the Anti-Lock Brakes Discount; it only applies to the collision portion of your premium -- which one doesn't have with mere liability! Also, these discounts are not necessarily cumulative, meaning if you are eligible for more than one discount in the same category, you may only actually get the highest of the discount. And lastly, one can get up to an 8% discount for owning at least one share of Berkshire Hathaway stock. A single share of BH Class A stock will set you back about a quarter mill; and a share of his "bargain" stock, Class B, will cost you a few hundred bucks. So you do the math on that one. If one already has BH stock one may as well invoke the discount, but it certainly doesn't make a lot of sense to get it for the discount. Hope this was enlightening to all as well. Take it light and make it a good day!

    A large part of your rate is also based on your credit score. Additionally, insurance is regulated bt the state you are in and not federal so this means many things are not offered in all the states. For instance, in the state of PA where I am a licensed insurance agent defensive driver discount is primarily only offered to the 55 or older folks. Also because rating factors per person are never identical from person to person two people will almost never have the same rate. He is always good to speak with an agent or your insurance carrier to go over and get a few review to make sure you are getting all the discounts that are offered.

    The main factor insurance is either going to be cheaper or more expensive for you is obviously your credit score. Since they take that as like 80% of what they factor in creating your insurance quote. It’s more likely that someone with poor credit would file a claim over someone with good credit because they’ll most likely pay for damages instead of filing a claim.

    So, he's lying about Discounts he doesn't truly qualify for. He's also in CA - the Good Driver Discount is a CA discount and is lost with certain driving activities. Also, CA is based on mileage -- which he is likely lying about how much he's driving and zip code which is not his actually garaging zip code. To truly get a real low rate legitimate, there is a formula for being preferred and he isn't even close to the real factors

Oh f gieco lol they charged me * were charing me $71 per MONTH on fing liability which I did pay in FULL! Why! Why were they charging me for liability $71 ? um ... lets see what happens when you are in an accident! Do you even understand the cost of insurance in other states? I live in Detroit Michigan, it costs us around 300-400 a month just for liability insurance for a 20 year old car... we would all be jumping for joy to even pay $100 a month..

    I reduced my car insurance rate from 201$ to 178$ per month..by increasing the deductible with geico insurance. Maybe it’s because I’m in California and my car is new- this May be why it’s so high but I am thankful to decrease it by 20$ per month

    • @BeatTheBush

      You get what you pay for. Higher deductible means you have to pay more when something happens. If things happen very rarely then you win.

    I want to thank you for some very helpful information. I was able to add a discount with my geico that I didn’t know it was available to me. I was able to get additional ~$150 discount every 6 month. Wife works for university and it qualifies for a discount. Before discount I was at $3085 for 7 cars. So thank you again!!!!

    Okay a few tips here to get the most for your insurance dollar.
    Increasing PD to 100,000 is likely only a few dollars more and its easy to do more than 50,000 in damage if you hit something other than a vehicle or found at fault in a multi-vehicle collision.
    Next, see how relatively cheap Uninsured/Underinsured coverage is? That coverage is for your bodily injury. Why would you carry more coverage for BI to others than you do to protect yourself and your passengers. Look out for #1. It’s a very nominal amount of premium to bump that up to match your BI. 13% of vehicles on the road have no insurance. You live in a sanctuary state with a lot of undocumented folks. That stat is likely higher in CA.
    If you have a lien or your vehicle is a lease you may be required by that contact to carry comp & collision as well as minimum 100/300/100.
    And FYI California is a state that is very strict about negligence. The more coverage, the better. I would bump up those limits BECAUSE you live in CA.

    If you drive to work in CA, I recommend full coverage due to heavy traffic and frustrated people who just want to get home but can’t. You can still apply discounts. Car repairs are far more then a ton of home repair costs. It’s good for legal reasons too. In a worse case scenario there could otherwise be lawsuits. Thanks for your videos though.

      Listeners Paradise just dont be a shitty driver? Seriously you pay insurance in case you fuck up, so don't fuck up. Also insurance companies dont pay your car repair bills, you could pay thousands of dollars for a theoretical accident that never happens, but when your car needs a repair, thats on you not insurance. Insurance is bullshit and thrives off our fear.

    Defense Driving Class and Driver's Ed only applies to older drivers (over 65)
    Antilock Brake, airbag, and seat belt use is all looked at through the good driver policy, as well as your VIN number.
    Multipolicy discounts are applied if you have extra liability, which needs higher limits
    The only one out of all of these I might be able to add is the membership affiliate by buying shares of Geico's owner company, but the Geico representative on the phone did not want to confirm I would actually get the discount. He said "more than likely" as long as youre affiliated, "they'll look into it."
    That's the info I got from bringing this info from the video by directly calling Geico.
