Such a cool episode. Great trucks. Thanks for sharing.
That clip of Andre in the Humvee in the pond never gets old XD
Drove in plenty humvee in the Army. So glad I drive a Raptor now.
Thank you for your service 👈🏾👈🏾👈🏾
Put fox shocks live valve on a humvee and fully upgrade the suspension
Grayson Wykert agreed
Banksy my guess would be having 20 guys pushing it up a hill ?
This. And I’m not a ford guy lol
Someone's living his dream....a dailydriver Raptor, a weekend CJ5, an overland H1......and the best part is........the wife's fine with it LOL 👌
My daily would be a Humvee
A daily driver humvee will break it left and right. Not made for civilian life.
@@EpicAlcatraz99 You'll be surprise on how many people that daily drive these and don't have much issues. It really just take proper maintenance
H1? Don't insult him like that. HMMWV.
"got it because my business needed a truck" i see u bro, get that tax write off lmao
Loved that episode! The guy was so enthusiastic too, and Andre's presentation made the whole thing lively. Cheers guys.
Really wish I could hate this guy for having way more money than me but he’s such a nice dude
Why be jealous of rich people, put that energy into making wealth for yourself, and support policies that make it easy for you to become and stay wealthy yourself.
HA.HA. GoodMeme it wasn’t that deep bro
Local mustang guy in my area went from making occasional videos about his 4 cyl mustang, then bought a new 2018 GT and started uploading about it like crazy because he was that impressed with the new one. Literally overnight he became a local celebrity, back then (and he has way surpassed that now). He said he was making about 600 a week from his channel. That's 3k per month. That'll buy you a 100,000 car easily.
@@vendediesel and YT takes a 45% cut!
Why would you want to hate someone for being successful? Most people’s biggest hindrance is their own view of themselves. Also, breaking news, a six figure annual income isn’t required to (through saving/investing) afford six figure vehicles.
There you go Andre. You finally got your real Hum(vee) experience in :) I've got an M1102 trailer for my Hummer - if you need the 12 pin military harness let me know and I'll send it out to ya. THANK YOU for measuring the width. Nobody ever believes me when I tell them that the Hummer is as wide as a Raptor.
Imagine getting an expensive high performance off-roader with a short bed just to transfer furniture!
I need to figure out how to write of a Raptor for my plumbing business
Lol
Smart people would just buy a work truck for 10k
Lol I write mine off for my business
He's just writing it off.
I use mine for prerunning baja races, like Baja 500, baja 1000 and San Felipe 250 👍
Regarding the Humvee's windshield washer reservoir, I used to placed my knee on it not my foot, so technically I was not stepping on it. lol.
The triangle often referred to is labor, money and resources. A premade item cost more money but should be less labor, making an item takes more resources and labor but should cost less money. Sweet hummer.
Screw a hummer unless it has a modern diesel swap. I grew up loving Hummers but that's the problem they have ages with me I'm with the modern stuff. I would take a raptor any day over a hummer
There's the Predator Inc. modded Humvee option where they do the 6.6 Duramax engine and Allison transmission swap if that's what you wanted lol.
@@qwertytwinkletoes3955 yeah I have seen the companies that do it thats the way to go exept I wouldn't go Duramax I would go new powerstroke or cummins.but even then the Mone for a base h1 hummer is over 100k with some interior for the civilians after it's done done with a Duramax your looking at $200k+ and it will never have the feeling of a modern fun truck like a raptor. Or diesel power go with a modern diesel
As someone that has ridden many miles in combat in them. I hate them. I was lucky to get the better GMV verison. No way I would buy one. My unit had Tacoma's shipped from the US. We used them more because speed and mobility.
Was this a private or govt unit?
@@camaroman101 We choose the hilux over our humvees anyday. I'm Not a contractor either.
It's only popular with jabronis who never served or know about vehicles. H1 is a cheap torture mobile for the troops. Amazingly slow, no room or comfort, and terrible towing/regular MPG. It's only good for occasional rock crawling, but even then it's too damn heavy.
The least comfortable vehicle to ride in ever.
@@gc99289 The civilian market has figured out how to make the ride a lot more comfortable. I'm 6'6" and fit in the drivers side very comfortably. It's by no means a luxury vehicle but the civvy versions are a lot more posh than the HMMWV's. Go watch my Dude I Love or Hate my Ride video I did with mine to see what it could be.
From someone that drove a hwmwv for 12 years of his career I can tell you. I would never want to drive another again.
Theo's a lucky guy to own both of these 'icons'. Great that he allowed Andre to take a drive in each too.
Great video,..Thanks TFL / Andre!
In the late 2000's, I had a coworker who owned an H1. We went to Dodger Stadium in it and we had to fold the side mirrors and it still barely made it through the paid parking entrance. Cool ride though.
Raptor a little bigger than a hmmwv
That Humvee is awesome! I didn't know the Raptor was that wide... I saw a Humvee with a Duramax in it ,that would be the ultimate mod(Very Expensive though).
But totally worth it
Yes, but definitely worth it on the road. Better gas mileage, selectable gear box, 500 hp or more depending on the tune. Also the opportunity to get ac installed since your donor will have the possibility for it. I definitely get more thumbs up driving mine than any other car of mine. That owner of this one is such a nice guy
Awesome video guys, keep up the great work.
I want a HUMVEE, but I want to take that 6.5l out and swap it with the new 3.0l Duramax, The new 3.0l D-Max puts out more hp and torque, and it's lighter and gets much better fuel economy. I think it would be an awesome swap.
I know some people want the bid D-Max swapped into them, but when it comes to a bugout vehicle the 3.0l would be a much better choice because of the better fuel mileage. I bet it would get twice the range, and all while having more HP and torque.
Don't think that would work honestly. Yeah it might have more torque and HP but can the transmission that bolts up to it handle a vehicle as heavy as Hummer/Humvee? My wagon tips the scales at 9000lbs. Also remember that most people who tell you that swapping these things is easy - are lying their ass off.
@@nothingtoseaheardammit I have no clue what you have in your HUMVEE, but most have a curb weight between 5,200 to 5,900 lbs. and a gross weight between 7,700 to 8,500 lbs.
So most HUMVEE's curb weights are basically the same as the new 4x4 4 door GM trucks that have the 3.0l D-Max. and the HUMVEE's gross weight is only a few hundred pounds off. So if you add the new 3.0's towing compacity of over 7000lbs. on top of the weight of the truck, you should see that the new 10-speed trans' they come with can handle the weight of a HUMVEE just fine.
You might not want to tow heavy loads with it, but as for it handling the weight of the HUMVEE itself, it would be fine.
Ps. As for it being easy to swap? Most swaps are not easy, but if you had the money to buy a wrecked 2020 4x4 truck with the 3.0l in it, then you would have everything you need to make the swap. Well, everything besides the engine mounts and maybe drive-shafts.
@@calvinh.8882 I'm pretty sure he has the H1, but I must agree with Tad P. I would keep the 6.5 diesel. They are known to get good MPG and you probably could get around the same power if you added the marine supercharger. I could imagine the 6.5 would last you longer as well since the new diesels are highly restricted with emissions
The Humvee's with those tops were first used by the Air Force for their mechanics. The bolt holes on the wheels can also be used to attach a round device that a solid bar can slip into to help the truck get out of a ditch. They were put on the back wheels mostly.
For your hummer and them 'running dark,' that's more than likely for black-out. Meaning that the lights are extremely dim, but can be seen with night vision goggles. This is done so that the vehicles can move around without being seen at night by enemy forces.
Drove around a lot like that
Couple with that is the NVG usage. A lot of people think or may think that NVG's gives you clear vision at night in any condition.
Hummer made me nostalgic as hell. Spent time in Marine Corps in 89-93 and got to drive the Hummer. SUPER tough!!! Had one where rear passenger wheel towed inward about 30-40 degrees and it STILL was drivable!!! Good times!!!
Thank You for your service!!!
11:05 Wow, a replay of Andre's famous dunk into a water hazard with a military Humvee. I saw that video when it was current and I've been thinking about trying to look it up. Awesome!
To each their own. Drove and rode in HMMWV’s in the Army, at 6’3” was an uncomfortable fit. I’’ll stick with my F-250 FX4
The humvee wheel IS a double beadlock already. Not beadlock ready as you say..
I used the HUMVEE to plow the snow out of the parking lot of my unit in FT. Drum a few decades ago.
Love the Raptor, but man the Hummer is a one of a kind off road rig! Great job on that truck. Seems like a really awesome truck guy to me!👍
One of my favorite stats to share about my Raptor is that it's actually wider than a Humvee. People are always shocked at that.
I just found that out! I had no idea that my 19 raptor was wider!!! I’m trippin out
So you like to brag about being able to fit in less places than a giant brick? cool.
yeah, green is probably not the original color for the Humvee. The rest of the body is that beige, considering its a 90's model it was painted to match the sandy environment of Op. Desert Shield/Storm
All I’m hearing is that Ford needs to go back to a V8 for the Raptor.
Twin Turbo V6 eats V8's for breakfast
For how long?
Myron Gaines tell that to Ram Rebel TRX V8
Myron Gaines in fuel economy yes. But only until the turbos explode.
UH can anybody say twin turbo Coyote..........
I have a 2017 Raptor, weatherstrip is rubbing the bumper in the same spot but on the passenger side. Awesome truck though, love it
Tell the guy he should put an lbz duramax engine in there with the Allison, it’ll run circles around the 6.5.
Much like the 05 H1 Alpha!
Another fun video Andre. Good job.
Military learned that if you marked "obvious" items with warnings like "no step," they'd save a lot of 💰 in really dumb maintenance requirements for washer/any fluid tanks. 18 and 19 year old mechanics/operators are still kids 😅
Awesome episode! Thanks guys !
Thanks Theo for letting TFL Show us your trucks.
Great episode also they are both great vehicles, everything isn't a competition or doesn't have to be...🤷🏾♀️🤗🙌🏾🐻
Add the air fill if overlanding will be a cool vehicle for off roading
Absolutely enjoyed the video!!
Awesome video! A few funny moments.
Fyi, I have an M998a1, but for the 24 to 12 volt light issue I used led bulbs that are rated from 9 to 30 volts so the lights work on either vehicle.
TFL needs to use that Humvee to bring democracy to the Ford motor company 😂😂😂
Must be really nice to have extra money to get nice toys! Happy for you man!!
That H1 is badass.
it is badass, but that's not an H1, it's a Humvee
Nice width comparison , yea the H1 has the wider body cab , the raptor has the wider stance 💪🏻 best of the best off-road Vehicles
I could get down with a redone humvee, as long as you can fix: The suspension & chassis design to not feel like you’re reentering earth’s atmosphere at 50. 2: interior comfort, give me some space and leg room. 3: Motor, the old GM diesel is not real high on my list. A 6.9 idi hopped up no turbo would be sweet.
That said, I like what dude did, looks great!
Cepek shocks and progressive springs make all the world of difference in ride quality on these things.
I loved those old Humvee
Love both of these trucks!!! But I would much rather have this Raptor
I love them both. period.
Very cool episode.
When the HV was introduced to replace the Jeep, it became an instant hit. Arnie Schwartzeneggar bought one just to prove he could.
Watching Andre drive this HV makes me realize how much I would not want an HV.
Great video, TFL!
You guys should go to Warner Valley in Saint George. It's awesome!
What about length wise is the raptor longer than the humvee?
The bumper flare rusting next to the weather strip is a known issue. Ford will replace the entire bumper for free. Happens to almost all Gen 2’s.
Twist to tighten parking brake! 😍
Great fun!
I love that Ford chime.
All I want to see is his CJ5!
Love that Raptor 🦖😍
I drove a Humvee in the Army quite a bit including the old 997 models w no Park, just D, R and N (w. hand e brake). Good diesels and great axles. Best rigs are simple.
Hey ... that guy's HUMVEE has the same cargo carrier on the top as I have.
Super cool!
After driving many HMMWV's in the Army I can say with certainty that they are worse than hot garbage. Wildly unreliable, extremely underpowered and really not all that impressive offroad. Give me almost any 4x4 truck over one any day.
Theyre only unreliable because of how awful the opererators treat them. Im a 91B (wheeled vehicle mechanic) and they are built well, but they're driven like they're stolen and sit idling for days.
@@Bailey_54R I think they'd be great if I could afford one with a turbo Duramax and redone inside and out.
Also when they were made they should of put in lockers or at least limited slip
A nicely drivetrain modded HMMWV would be great. Like the one ChrisFix has, but those are ridiculously expensive.
@@Bailey_54R I was lucky with the one I had. It had working A/C and heating. But it had electrical problems. To the point that the guys at the motor pool put in an unused old electrical system in it. And this was after they already put in a brand new electrical system in it. My HMMWV just did not like the newer electrical systems for some reason.
Raptors are the best trucks
That helmet top design is what the military uses for their ambulance/medic HUMVEES.
You better have a bunch of starter gears and ring gears for that HMMWV.
They like to eat them.
That’s one dirty engine bay 😂😂 for a truck used to haul furniture.
Nice video
Are those the 2019 wheel style on the raptor?
Yes
Back then the only thing bigger than an H1 was those huge ass passenger vans everyones uncle had
The one you want is the M1114 hatchback take the armor off has the bigger diesel and slide plates on the bottom and AC.
Honestly good for him having enough money to have them both.
I’m commenting before watching and just have to say what’s there to talk about lol! HumV all the way.
You’ve obviously never driven one
“NoOoOo, Theo help me..” 😂😂
What the heck music is in the background @ 5:05...freak lol
“Umm....the Humvee is full of water.” Oh man..been there, done that!
Cam phasers at 20,000 miles,is that normal for an eco-boost
All I want is a new raptor with a 6.2
Or the 7.3, 5.2 voodoo, or gt500 engine
They need to bring the Hennessey package back!
actually looking at getting that exact raptor
"Everything costs money" Andrey Smiornov sums up pretty much our modern world.
Pretty sure it's always been like that. Just now you can get a heck of a lot more for your money.
A tire air pressure system on that HunV..... wow....
Great 👍 selling points to the little woman on buying the Raptor!
This video was pleasant
i don’t think anyone would want to daily a humvee over the raptor but damn would u look like a badass in the humvee
The dream humvee, a duramax within 5 years old, fox live valve and make it solid axle instead of independent
I’ll take both
Oh hummer the all time fav
I just saw that humvee in a parking lot in Colorado
Hi Andrei, is Theo a kababayan of mine from the Philippines? Cool rides!
Yes Sir!
Great to see you got featured in this channel. I'm a great fan of TFL. Stay safe and your family as well. 😊
Theo is 100% combat ready. I love the HUMVEE too. But for 100% practicality to me it's the Raptor, drives like a Bimmer heard you don't even feel the speed bumps at the local mall.
This is why it has a payload of Honda CRV. It's a joke of a pickup.
@@gc99289 Right but 100% the Raptor owner is not worried about payload it's all about the prestige.
Does this guy have a youtube channel?
Now its time to reach out to Gale banks to get it turbo charged. Tell his wife its for the business lol.
I hope he didn't pay very much for the Humvee, it looks like about as much fun as a go-kart!
I’m in CO and have an ‘87 1038. I also plan to make an Overland Rig as well. Would like to get this gentleman’s contact info if he is in agreement- thanks in advance. MR
Hey, I'm That guy! Feel free to contact me. :)
@@TheoSison nice rig theo.
I have an m998 very similar to yours. Mines a green and black helmet top with a duramax swap.
Fyi , Avoid Plan B supply -they take forever, used them for my swap and the experience wasn't optimal for what I spent. And predator, well. Very nice work. But expensive .
Welcome to the Humvee club!
Are you on the Colorado Humvee Facebook group? I just did my first Overland trip. It was a blast but I need to learn how to stay warm at night. :)
@@TheoSison naw dude, I'm in west Texas. Rebuilding my steering rack this week on it. My pittman arm went out so doing the control arm ends and the idler arm. Midwest military equipment came up cheaper for most the parts , had to get the connecting links from KASCAR..
Gotta stay cool down here. I also had a/c installed, an Old air hurricane aftermarket a/c unit.
Best thing to stay warm. The little propane heater units. Set up on the back wheel well and crack a window. And an air mattress. I did the peel and stick insulation and carpet on the fiberglass top.
@@TheoSison howdy theo. Saw the new video, glad to see you still at it. The front suspension has some mild outward splay. May wanna check ur tie rod ends. Midwest military equipment has them for a decent price.
idk man, looks like that humvee has a 6.2 in it. Sure it's the 6.5? Great looking rig.
Standing next to a hundred thousand dollars worth of vehicles and he says the milsurp trailer is expensive.
They're on govplanet all the time.
Забавно, у меня похожий же гараж, 2018 raptor with a lot of modifications and 2008 hmmwv m1165a1
TFL crew, so a stop sign means stop. not roll. that's a yield sign you're thinking of. just saying not worth getting a ticket for. keep making great off road truck videos.
The extended warranty from ford the best one they have does not cover the sun roof.
I’m with you I have a raptor and would take a Hummer
