    Partial
    Refund. I simply say return for a full refund. Very seldom do they return. Move on and find someone who will
    Play your game! We should all stand together on this issue in my opinion!

    My First Law of Reselling is that the more questions a potential buyer asks, the less likely it is that they'll buy the item. My Second Law is that most returns happen because potential buyers don't read, no matter how hard you try to be clear with your information.

      My problem is size shoppers Buy three different sizes and then return two, after they have all been ripped open, rendering them no longer new and sealed. It’s underwear. I know it’s happening while I’m shipping and there’s nothing I can do. eBay partial refund is useless. They keep your fees if you use it. eBay’s biggest self scam in my opinion. I have to resell the items as preowned. If they say defective due to fit, I pay shipping both ways for them to “play shop.”

    I had a sneaky buyer on a recent sale. Claimed to have received an empty box from me. Sure, maybe something happened in transit but it was a 0 feedback buyer that made their account the day they bought my item. Even the ebay rep I talked to was the first to outright say "maybe they are making a false claim, lying that the box was empty when they really received the item."

    About 20 years ago before I even sold on ebay I read a comment from an experienced seller that said if someone asks you a truly stupid question or is TOO picky - put them on your Blocked Bidder list. That is exactly what I do, and I have slept great ever since. And sales are great. I don't need the head cases, too many other good buyers.

    I often sell unique collectibles "as is", which seasoned chiselers always ignore. I remember one asking for a partial refund on a $20 beautiful carnival glass toothpick holder, citing an imaginary flaw on the base (where it wouldn't even be seen on normal display, even if it actually existed). If anything it was just a typical manufacturing characteristic of the natural glass. I responded, "In the interest of full customer satisfaction we will be happy to accept the return and issue a full refund." (They dropped it because they had no intention of returning it.) I have dozens of stories like this, and it's just hurtful to know that there are dishonest people who will stoop so low. And I block every single one who unjustifiably/unfairly does me that way. True collectors know better than to behave that way.

Enough to totally burn myself out after a decade +. I also watched them take total advantage of the good teachers. Who also were burnt out & used up only to leave. I missed the students after I left. But, I did not miss the rigmarole, staff issues & stress of it all. We love reselling and learning all the time. I work at my pace and give awesome service. I listed a DVD/VCR on eBay 2 months ago as is, with DVD side not working. I even showed pictures of what the dvd prompted on a tv screen, and clearly stated it needed repair and sold as is. I gave a good price and shipped for free to the buyer. It was sold to a seller in Brooklyn NY who fixes these and then resells. I thought it was a good sale. Almost 30 days after receiving it, they file a return stating it was defective, making me pay the return shipping. They refused to communicate with me on it. They kept the cables to it and owners manual.
    I was going to go thru eBay and fight it, but after reading eBay could penalize you if you lose in several ways, I decided to cut my losses and move on.
    Ebay will make you accept returns 30 days if they claim defective, no matter YOUR stated shipping policy.
    Just makes me appreciate the honest buyers more.

      I sell a decent number of electronics or other items in AS-IS condition for Parts/Repair with no returns. Whenever I get a sale on that type of item, I message the buyer right away to confirm they read listing and understand the issue and there are no returns for this item. Most of the time, they confirm that did read but those other 20% were not aware for whatever reason and we cancel the order. That has cut down on my problems and I rarely have any issues selling things like this any more.

    • @naturalnines5471
      @naturalnines5471 Месяц назад

      This is why you should always charge for shipping, even if you have to bring the price of the item down. If you allow 30 day returns (which you should because it give the seller an advantage), it will give you an option that says "seller pays return shipping" and they will have eat the cost and not you. When you get the return you will actually have an option to refund the item and keep the shipping cost.

    • @truthseeker393
      @truthseeker393 Месяц назад +1

      It does not matter if you state you don’t accept returns or not, or charge for shipping. If a buyer claims any item, shoes, dvd, vcr, etc is defective, eBay will force you to take the return, and cover the shipping costs. I’m addition, when you go to refund, you have to refund everything the buyer initially paid, shipping and all.

    • @naturalnines5471

      @@truthseeker393 I get returns all the time and never refund the shipping to the buyer. It gives me the option if I want to or not. If you put in no returns then FOR SURE you will have to pay for everything. It's better to put 30 day returns in your listings. No return listings are for amateurs.

    • @truthseeker393
      @truthseeker393 Месяц назад +2

      I have done returns also, but ebay forces you to refund the buyers paid shipping when they claim “defective”. I had that happen with a shoe sale once. I did not want to refund the shipping, but ebay forced it. I have read threads stating ebay is aware of this practice by buyers to get their shipping $ paid back. Any other reason given, the seller can determine whether to refund shipping. If they claim an item is defective, it is fully refunded.

  • @rigby6907
    @rigby6907 Месяц назад +3

    We have had several people "notice" that we printed the shipping label and contact us to say that they moved and forgot to change their address with ebay and asked if we could send it to their new address. We simply tell them that we are not allowed to do that and they can request to cancel the order for a refund, which is what usually happens. They never end up changing their address with ebay and getting back to us. If you end up sending to an address not associated with ebay, they can say they never got it and you are out the item and the $$ because they will get a refund.

I respond with something like "It's a rare item and I have the only one that's been on eBay in the last year. I just listed it and it already has 5 watchers. Love this channel, I learn a LOT. I used to resell and eBay was my favorite outlet(2000 to 2005). I’m having fun sourcing now, buy what I like or at least I think cool. I like your price point in buying. I try and do the same, may be a good sourcing time ahead as we go through this inflation period, etc. when I was selling there were more auctions, fewer buy it nows. I like the auction preferably.

    I have been doing reselling for years and years
    I am like you I never give a partial refund unless it's something I know I've done wrong, I always tell them to send it back for a full refund and about 80% of them I never hear from again
    I have also had buyers say they did not receive an item, most of them are lying, most times a family member has put it somewhere without telling them, I use tracked services that has images on delivery and GPS co-ordinates for the actual delivery location, occasionally the courier delivers to wrong address but it's rare

    I never do a partial refund either. I sold someone an electronic toy listed for parts or repair. They opened a case saying they couldn't repair it. I didn't feel this was right. This was years ago when you could still get a human from the US on the phone sometimes. I called and they actually just refunded the buyer and let him keep it. I was not happy with that, but I was glad it didn't come out of my pocket because shipping was a lot. I sell a lot of baby blankets for replacements. Someone bought one that said, "only suitable as a replacement for one in similar condition with wash wear, etc" which I say for many of them. A lot of times kids wear theirs out and are just happy to have the "same" blankie. The buyer opened an INAD saying it was a rag, (it was not). What she did was swap out her kid's REALLY old worn out one, but it was just about 1/4 of a blanket, literally cut up, and inside of there she was kind enough to include a slice of greasy pizza. She is a seller of auto parts, so I am sure she knows she can send back literal trash and still get her money back. Ebay did make me whole after making me refund her, but it really bothers me that people can get away with this and continue buying and selling! I filed a mail fraud case. The funny thing is, the buyer had already served prison time for government theft!

    You are so right about the culture in teaching! I was a high school teacher in an inner city school for 25 years. When I first began teaching, I didn't realize how much politics and nepotism was involved in education. I thought that if you were excellent in your job, you would rise. Not so. The laziest and least engaged teachers would somehow get the best situations. The rest of us would be given huge classes, extra duties with no extra pay, and no support when discipline issues arose. I retired at the end of my 25 years. I do miss the kids and teaching, but I don't miss the job.

    New reseller. Sold a Cannon digital camera. They opened a return and said it smelled like cigarette smoke. I thought that was odd. How can an electronic smell like smoke? When I got the camera back they had switched it out for the same model camera that was broken. Clearly different serial numbers than the one I sold. No case, card, strap, etc in the return. EBay refunded THEM! So they got a good camera for free. Thankfully I opened a case and got my credit for the sale. Frustrating that Ebay is teaching scammers that they can get away with this by automatically refunding them when they send back a no value item. eBay should have withheld the refund and banned them from the platform!

    Just had a very similar thing happen to me. Stated in the description that everything in the photos is what is included in the sale. The buyer said upon arrival it was missing a mount that was not in the photos. They then convinced me to purchase a mount for them and send it to them which was around 12 dollars into my profit. The only reason I decided to go this route is because I got the item for free at a yard sale, and sold for $50.00. Learning experience though. Won't do that again. Anyhoo. Thought I would share my experience. Love your channel.

    I always Answer questions, but i NEVER send an offer for asking me any questions.
    I never offer partial refunds, unless i know it's definitely something i did.
    Just yesterday, i had another buyer try to mess with me. My Measurements and wording were correct, i clearly offer completely free returns & shipped it free to them, and it's a bigger item.
    The said, do you accept returns? Your description made me think this would fit this, but it won't. I sweetly said, yes... please file a return and i will pay for a return label. This is as described, since they come in different sizes and i have all of the Measurements in the listing.
    You can just file it as a regular return like someone returning clothing that doesn't fit. .
    That was the first time that i spelled out how to file. I think, some play stupid doing the not as described as blackmail to get a partial refund & out of spite for not paying them off.
    So... as many scammers.... not a single word back to my kindness, & so far they've filed nothing.

Today I listed an electronic component and someone within minutes asked me if the product worked, which is weird because the description says "open box never used". And why would I sell something that is broken? Then they went on to offer me 75% less than what I listed the product for... I mean I said offers welcomed but that isn't an offer. Then I checked their profile, and boom, they sell the same products. The universe has spoken again.

I can do estate sales and thrifting well enough, but, I'm lacking a starting place for attack on garage sales. I hate wasting gas, is there a process you have to seeking out and routing your day for garage sales? Is it purely spontaneous? You've probably done a video on this already but I must have missed it. Or perhaps I need to check out your other channel, because I am having real trouble getting started on garage sales for some reason. I guess I'm just not seeing them advertised? Because it is easier to cancel a sale at the buyer’s request that ship it out and pay for the item to be returned since I have free shipping. The buyers that know about the defect and want it anyway are always appreciative of my message, so that practice is a win, win.

I had had them listed for a long time, and the return shipping was almost as high as how much they were worth. I told him to keep the item and just donate it. A kid bought a vintage comic collector watch New in a box to replace one he had. Broken English Request. USPS gave it to an Agent? Apartment Manager? Father? They claimed it had no Crystal/Glass. I inspected the watch before shipping it, finding it had a leather band, glass etc. Now WHAT? RETURN? no GLASS? what! So before I could understand the broken English and before I agreed on what to do, within 15 hours I got my first of a thousand - Negative review on what a terrible person I was ...Accusing me of knowing it had no glass ?(Not) That he hopes I don't rip off buyers in the future etc etc etc. Wow! ebay instructed me to request a retraction on Feedback before I issued the partial refund. That was a mistake. It thru it into ineligible retraction by eBay. The father wanted $28 partial, then he wanted $22.00 partial refund? He also promised to redact his Feedback and send me my watch at his expense. ok. UPDATE: eBay sent him an email and he is having a heck of a time figuring out how to remove his nasty feedback and he actually apologized. Well he has 10 days, I hope he can figure it out.

    Really love your property; so peaceful and huge. One thing we learned is not to send any partial, if you didn't do anything wrong. Ebay always says to contact them with any suspicious requests. Had two scammers and interestingly both were from New York (one was for a camera and the other for a apple watch). Different 'buyers' and sales were a few months apart. These crooks the minute item was delivered, they put return request; not even enough time to open the box! Told them go through Ebay for return. The watch was described buyer would need to buy a battery and it was sold as is. That crook returned the watch BUT changed it with another model case, so they kept our Apple watch! We appealed with Ebay showing them the original listing and shipping photos plus video and they could see the crook sent us back something different. We got our money back BUT lost to the crook our Apple watch. The other person, they owned a store and they said they bought wrong item, they returned the camera but had switched out the inside. We sent Ebay the original photos and the video when we shipped and what the crook sent us back and Ebay recredited us our money and fees.

    Being very careful to list everything truthfully I never got a neg. When ebay decided to let buyers neg sellers with zero repercussion I started getting a lot of requests for refunds/partial refunds.
    One person bought an old 1920's costume jewelry bracelet. Tons of photos yet she claimed some of the stones were missing (photo showed none were]. Ebay sided with her. I warned other sellers in Feedback comment but could only leave Neutral.

Nice people will make an effort to deliver it to you, themselves. Then there are some that keep it! But waste no time in contacting the carrier, because they know who your driver was. When I did that the driver had to come back out and retrieve the package and deliver it to my house, I knew it hadn't been stolen. And then there are the porch pirates, I've had a couple of things stolen, one was caught in the act, so I got my item because there were surveillance cameras being monitored at the time. The other time I got something back it was an empty box, the police had found it during an unrelated crime investigation.

It was a telescope for parts, so the box would have been heavy. 7lbs He was in contact and very respectful and gracious to my error. But now how do I address the empty beat up box.
