I love these. never again where I will live somewhere without inside security and outside.
We had our first package theft in four years and basically three out of three ring devices failed to detect motion. The reason I know is because I have a backup system from another brand. I called Ring Support telling them basically the system failed. She checked everything, Wi-Fi speed, zones, etc after putting me on hold, probably talking to a supervisor on how to respond, she said that it was because of cool down and frequency settings. The last motion was 8 minutes before and she knew it. I pay $30 for the Ring Plus and am 100% disappointed in their response. If you see this review on other videos, then it’s because I’m THAT DISAPPOINTED after spending nearly $1k in product and fees. Unfortunately, I have no idea which system is best at person detection, but I know it’s not Ring.

So annoyed with the built in battery. I have two ring doorbells and just bought this as a third. I bought a spare battery for the first two so I can switch them out and never be down. Disappointed I can’t do it with this one too.
I found the video doorbell 2 to be a waste of money. In the 4-5 months that I have had it it hasnt picked up on any package deliveries, the packages are dropped off about 2 feet away. I've had about a dozen deliveries. The response time is very poor. Usually you see the back of the person as they're walking away. And it's yet to distinguish between a person or animal correctly. I have another system already and deciding what to do with this. I could mount it on the dog house to try to make it look like it has character. But that would take time.
So you can't rewind the feed and see past footage? So I can't check the feed on my phone and rewind over an hour to see if anyone has been to my door without ringing?
I have this model, the only problem is if The Ring loose Wi-Fi connection, I would need to go to the Ring , open and press the orange button on the back to do re setting up again. Why can't it reconnect automatically like any other devices that uses Wi-Fi. If knew about this, I wouldn't have bought it. It's not convience.
All good until the doorbell button cover cracks or falls off after 18 months and there is only a 12 month warranty. The only solution seems to be to purchase a whole new unit because according to ring customer support, the plastic button cover itself is not a replaceable part. Many complaints about this on the ring community page.
Do you have a video on how to hard wire this (Ring Video Doorbell Gen 2) doorbell using a wireless Ring chime? Most wiring schematics are for wired doorbells. (???)
Yeah, that whole law enforcement thing needs a video, if you haven't already made one, that is. WA State over here. The RCWs are just... Clear as mud for apartment dwellers whose doors face the doors of other apartment dwellers. Not sure if I should buy this or not.
Is there any other doorbell cameras like this but not from Amazon. I dont want my footage been sent to police or stored without my consent. Need a company that doesnt do this
just got mine with the chime for £99 from ring website, i know they come down in price but my son is moving out so i could not wait for the sales, amazon uk have sold out, thank you.
Yep you screw it to the wall and then try to navigate the charging wire through no obvious gap between the wall and device and at the same time do a 90° turn in a space about 3% of that needed to navigate your wire into the charger. Or you could unscrew the 2 screws on the bottom and unclip and take it indoors for 2 hours to charge.
I live in a tiny 1 bed apartment. I have 2 cameras, 1 at the front door and 1 by my balcony. These things go offline all the time. I have a wifi router with 4 giant antenna and its mounted on the wall in the center of my apartment. I find it hilarious that I can connect to all my neighbors wifi (if I had their passwords) but these doorbells loose wifi signal all the time. Video not found, or offline constantly. It's not my router, its the garbage receiver in these things that can't stay connected. If their premium plan came with an option to connect 5g network, these things would be perfect. But the fact they use wifi, just annoys me. We need to get rid of wifi, it sucks, we all have unlimited data plans, its time to get all the devices off wifi and on 5g. It is a superior network. 5g is 100 times better then cable internet, and it's wireless. We need to ditch this crap tech that never worked in the first place.
They allow a 30 day trail normally, after that you have to pay monthly or annually to get their smart features, but I can still use the cam and get sound alerts, but I have to go in the app and see live footage. Before I could see a photo of the person with the sound alerts.
I think it would work for me just want it to record if someone jumps the fence or if the guy that cut my grass one time comes in my property when I’m not home 😡
Yes you and your wife have to download Ring App and Rapid Ring App on both individual mobile phones devices and you and your wife can both view video and notifications on both devices the reason I stated Rapid Ring App because this allows you to get to the notifications quicker the Ring App is the entire app and Rapid Ring (shortcut app) to answer quicker
The camera is constantly streaming. Whenever there is motion by your front door or if someone rings the bell the camera will automatically record that for you. However in order to backtrack and look at recordings, I think that’s when the small monthly fee comes in. But, if you get the ring alarm system the doorbell small fee is included in the monthly professional monitors fee for the alarm.
They need to find a way of structurally embedding the camera to the home, with access on the inside of the home for maintenance. It's far too costly having such a pricey device at the mercy of Intruders. Perhaps with the permission of the home owner, place a specially made box on the outside of the house designed to somehow blend in with the decor. I don't think a plant pot will suffice .... Intruders know about that! ... But if ' RING' can design a mini attractive, impenetrable box to protect the Camera, that would save a lot of money in damages.🇬🇧 UK
