An uncommon video actually taking the time to do the proper shootout comparison. Credit to the producers. I currently own a white 88 GT and I've gone through a lot of exhaust and I ended up settling on long tubes, H pipe no/cats, Spintech 6000 Pro mufflers and 2.5" piping with LX tails. The sound is on par with a modern Ford power plant and that's what folks think is under the hood but it's still the original 5.0 but crammed with a Vortech. Thanks for sharing!

I swapped back to the h pipe, a percentage point or less power wasn't worth the loss of sound. Not that the x pipe sounded bad, it just wasn't my thing.

Power and torque differences are very mininal. X might have 2 or 3 hp up top if that on the h and the h might have 2 ft lbs torque more at lower rpm but it's a wash I would choose based on sound not performance differences. The difference is so minimal you'd never be able to accurately test the difference between them performance wise.

My 86 GT has no cats, H pipe, Flowmaster 44s, and Ford Racing shortys. I think it sounds great on my fox and all Fox bodies. On my 99 GT with bolt ons, then with a Vortech S-Trim, then Garrett 67mm turbo, I had LTs, catted X-pipe, and many different C/Bs, but loved my magnaflow with my IRS swap, then obviously used the headers from the turbo kit.

The H pipe in this video sounded good at idle. But everywhere else the X pipe was way Superior. It was smoother and engine had a roar to it.
What I'm trying to get away from is the pulses like a glass pack blah blah blah sounds like crap to me. That Xbox put some together and makes it come to zoom out of the muffler. Blah blah blah sounds like a Cowboys truck to me I don't want those pulses.
Now I'm going to try to decide what's the difference of different kinds of X pipe. And I know I don't want the H pipe now.

Thee best exhaust comparison video I've ever seen as well. Most people don't understand that the true exhaust note can only be heard under a load. Not just sitting there revving it up. I have made my decision.

Forget the sound, what is the difference? The H pipe is for low end torque and the X is for high RPM HP.

This is how a car should sound, not like the modern rice racers with turbo.
