'93 Mustang GT. Flowmaster Super 40s , X-pipe. Exhaust sound clip.

- At this point I've owned the car for about 2 months. It's my first Mustang, and my first foxbody.
I'm in the process of sorting out the car, from multiple previous owners. One of the bits that needs finishing is the exhaust.
The car has Hooker long tube headers, X-pipe (can't tell which brand), Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers, and muffler shop tail pipes.
Before I install a set of 409S (stainless) GT tailpipes I wanted to have a sound comparison, of before and after. From what I've read, the sound may deepen just a bit, by removing the existing constricted pipes.

Random update on the car, and some info on the exhaust:
I've taken everything apart and had the engine out, getting ready for a full Vortech V3 build. I also have a new H/C/I setup on the car and I'm about a month away from getting the car completed, tuned and on the road. I'll upload a video of the new build at some point and detail the major parts.
BUT! I'm sticking with the Super 40s for the new exhaust setup. It will be all new from the mid pipe back, but I really like the way these sound. Sticking with an Xpipe too.
I took the top end off, down to only the block and original rotating assembly.
I was able to figure out a few things based on some of the questions I've been asked here in the comments.
-Headers are actually OBX brand, they seem pretty solid despite likely being Ebay headers. The welds are good, and finish is nice. Not Hooker, like I was told.
-Xpipe was fabbed up at the muffler shop with a generic part. All of the bends were like the tail pipes, necked down.
- Mufflers, as known are Super 40s.
-The cam is the stock 93 Cobra cam. Part number, F3ZE-6250-CA
-E7TE heads spec'd to GT40 Cobra spec, with 1.7 Crane Ford factory roller rockers.
-The engine is a remanufactured 93 Cobra engine, so all internal parts are spec for that year.

Sounds really good but I think the 4 valve Cobra sounds the best.. 2 valve sounds nice as well
The 5.2 voodoo from the gt350 sounds the best in my opinion
When I was a teen everyone had these with flowmasters and my z28 never sounded the same. Probably why I enjoyed hearing them so much

No car ever has sounded as wonderful as a Fox Body 5.0 with some Flowmasters. I wish the new 5.0’s could replicate that sound!

I did have to change it for power reasons. The whole thing was constricted from the headers back.
Still used Super 40s with an X pipe though.
@@pimpovic2 Yeah I think I’m going to do a off-road H pipe with some Shorty headers and some 40 Flowmaster delta flow I don’t want all of that interior drone

I had a 93 lightning with flowmasters. Had a 89 5.0 GT and a 93 LX 5.0 convertible with flowmasters. Can't beat that 5.0 sound!! Had those cars 20 years ago. I miss them now.
Buy up all the foxes people, they tell getting more and more hard to find and valuable
Do you get much drone with those? Sounds great though.
As with any aftermarket exhaust, it's going to be louder inside than stock. That said, it's not too loud, boomy or annoying. It's comfortable enough to talk to the passenger, and the sound doesn't ever get annoying.
What X pipe are you running? Sounds perfect
Nathan Knapp Thank you. No labels or numbers that I can see. Considering the exhaust was done by an exhaust shop, I'm guessing it's a generic part. The mufflers seem to be the only name branded parts, from the header connection back.

B303 1.7 rockers 1.⁵/8 longtube stainless headers to a 2.5 X pipe to 2chambet flowmasters with 3inch 90⁰ dumps.......then you have some foxbody sound tracks

Finally got the new tailpipes on today. A real pain, but worth it.
The muffler shop setup didn't have the hangers or the mufflers in the correct locations.
I needed to cut, fit, repeat, and break out the welder. But, it's done.
The sound is deeper and uncorking the bottlenecks has released the power that was being robbed, it's a surprisingly noticeable difference.

I wanted to get one before the snow hit and that didn't work out. It's on my list of things to do, but may need to wait until the snow is gone.

Sounds good. At least the previous owner(s) did not cut up the rear bumper for the tailpipes. What cam is that?

I put the car stuff on hold, too busy at work at the moment. Will investigate all of that when I get some more time.

Was there any modifications done did you put a camshaft
I was told there is a cam, but can't confirm.
Hooker long tube headers, x pipe, flowmaster super 40s.
Intake, larger throttle body, gt40 heads, bored to a 306.
I have a new B31 cam and vortech supercharger that will go in eventually.

IMPERIAL SEMI KING Yes it does have a cam, but was put on by one of the previous owners, and I don't have any record of what type it was. I was only told that it's not too aggressive.

@@pimpovic2 had the combo on my 95 gt about 10 years ago. Longtubes, upr X, 40s catback. Switched back to the H.

What size piping?
2.5", except for the tailpipes. They're bigger now. Complete new setup but still Super 40s. Check out my other video in the winter.

pimpovic2 it sounds amazing though nasty as hell whatever brand pipe it is really sounds good on your Stang.
Thanks man. Funny enough when I first got the car, I'd never heard a 5.0 that had that high note, tuned sound to it. Sounded a lot like an Italian exotic. Those pinched tailpipes really gave it a unique sound, but they robbed it of power.
Headers are Hookers long tube, if that helps.
