Something about the way that Carbon Fox sounds just reminds me of the way a fox should sound! Love the Retro fox with the smaller h pipe as well. Close 2nd imo!
I have mac long tubes,mufflers and tale pipes but no pro chamber been looking for a few years now no luck
1:54 is by far the best sounding imo, i think it just fits the fox perfectly

Great comparison….. I had a 302 with Trick Flow Top end kit,FRPP shorty unequal length headers,Bassani X pipe w/cats,Spin Tech Pros,& 2 1/2” Flowmaster tail pipes. The car sounded great!
2 chamber mufflers are the (ONLY WAY) to go....
It started with "FLOWMASTER" then they went all "STAINLESS" or whatever.. Then when people let them know they was (CRAZY) for trying to charge $100.00+ for a "MUFFLER" they realized how serious people was when their sales dropped bad..
So they started selling their original style mufflers at around or cheaper than their original FM prices under the name "FLOWMONSTER"..
I have a single 3" in dual 2.5" out dumped... 2 chamber... I plan to go 4" single in dual 3" out once i finally get my exhaust upgraded and supercharger installed.
Sounds just as good as a built stang...
It originally had a magnablow muffler, needed more "GROWL"......
Anything other than a 2 chamber just pops and flaps under accel or decel, sounds crappy... Doesn't matter what it's on.. GM, FORD, DODGE, etc..

Hey I see you have the Windsor SR heads on Papa T's Fox. I just picked up a set for my 302, What Pistons were you using to clear the valves?
Not sure on the pistons.. he built that engine years ago.
I like the sound of a good H pipe. Has that distinguished sound that you could always tell when a 5.0 was close by

What a difference the H-pipe made on the Retro Fox! Sounds more aggressive! Honestly it is hard to choose between the Retro Fox and the Carbon Fox! But if I have to choose then I would say that the Retro Fox has a touch more aggressive sound! Love it!! 💯👊🏾

Carbon fox sounds the best but the retro fox has the OG 5.0 sound but with a whistle. Calypso fox dont sound like a built 347. It sounds like the weakest one in the stable. I think the 347 needs to go in the carbon fox and the 306 needs to go in calypso. The 347 and the t trim supercharger would be a monster.
It sounds a lot better once it warms up. But it is pretty quiet
Which one. Is the fastest? On paper it should be calypso but i bet the carbon fox will hurt its feelings. I like the carbon fox. The automatic is different. My buddy had a 88 lx with a automatic and it was mean for a stock motor. We rebuilt the motor and it was stick for the most part 30 over i thimk was all he did different and that thing would roll.

H pipe sounds the best. I'm waiting on my ARH Headers, & matching 3" ARH Hpipe. I like the Hpipe sound better. Also getting rid of Mac Hpipe with cats

Hey man just found your videos and they are awesome. I have an 87 GT that’s stock and I’m looking to put some bbk long tube headers with an off-road h pipe. Any recommendations of a good muffler that’s not stupid loud but not quiet? Was thinking of a borla xr1. Also thought about putting a cam in but I was told that would require a new ECU. I think im probably the only mustang guy who’s not a fan of the flowmaster sound 🥲 to me Borla type s, atak or slp lm2 sound the best in mustang but thats just mho 🙂

Are you happy with the Borla on the 347 I feel like it doesn't match the rowdiness for the motor. I have those on my Aucra TL? I feel like you need to bring happy with how that car sounds. It had a Dart block that makes me envious but it does t hit the sound note.

No, too much duration and will make the computer go wacky. It will just start adding way to much fuel because of the low manifold vacuum. Some company used to have a SD specific cam. Maybe Luntai or Crower can quite remember.
That carbon fox sounds nasty! Its between the carbon fox and the retro with the H-pipe on it for me.
I got a home made x pipe I made with a 2.5” SVE H-pipe with black widow widow maker 2.5” mufflers dumped before axle and it’s a pretty unique sound as well. All the cars sound great in the video 🤘🏻👍🏻

How does the fact that it's a fox have anything to do with how it sounds? Shit, you can swap the exhaust in the carbon and retro and neither will sound like the other one did before.

Retro, Carbon and Papa T's in that order, seems like the Carbon Fox RPM's come up the fastest, truly they all sound great the Calypso is extremely muffled due to going thru turbo
Always been a fan of the h-pipe. It has that deep old school sound. Carbon Fox & Papa T’s car sound mean & nasty. I love it… Eargasm!
I like the Flowmasters the best they have the most deepest nasty growl.
Man those off road mid pipes sound so good!! Too bad you can't purchase them anymore...at least not new. I had some shorties with an off road H and went to some long tubes and switched to an X. Still sounds really good and the smell isn't as bad either. BTW that carbon fox sounds stupid loud! Love it!!
Hey you can still purchase offroad h-pipes new. Just got mine a few months ago from jegs they were flowtech 2.5 catless h-pipe.
@@stevenlaux6581 huh...you know now that I think about it, I believe I did come across an off road x pipe but it was a kooks. Super expensive! I know the government is cracking down on those sort of things. Attacking our hobby. Sucks!
Yeah the offroad mid-pipes are getting harder to find thanks to the government. The cost wasnt too bad was about 300 out the door. I wanted the classic 5.0 sound so I went with 2.5 offroad H-pipe and 2.5 flowmaster super 44 catback. I absolutely love it

To me pro chamber sounds the best, deep no rasp and sounds like the pipe diameter is being utilized perfectly. Jut my opinion i use to own 3 different foxes when i was younger never got the perfect sound i was chasing.

I am not real well versed on 8.2 deck SBF (never owned one myself) but the best One I have ever heard was a 363 10.5-1 Comp N/A comp roller cam(Don’t recall the specs) with shorter headers 2.5” into an X Pipe that transitioned into 3” Borla XR1’s.
Was pretty damn Nasty sounding. I am NOT an H-Pipe fan on any V8, It’s X pipe ONLY for me

Are the jones mufflers similar to magnaflow? In my opinion I think magnaflow has a deeper tone than flowmaster

My vote! The Carbon Fox for the win. They all sound amazing with different setups. It is a toss up between Carbon and Papa T. But Carbon is a clear winner. The sound made it the business.

My brother had an 87 back 20 years ago with long tubes, H pipe, flowmasters, and its still talked about to this day by folks around here. For whatever reason it had a sound like no other mustang I've ever heard and we can not recreate it.
Great comparison! I have tried a few combos. I’m stuck on my off road h pipe and Bassani mufflers. It’s a low and loud tone. About 4dB louder at idle versus the Bassani catted x pipe I had earlier. When you crack the throttle though, it sounds like NASCAR time.
I like the x pipe. On Papa T's car, not sure if I was hearing the Paxton or the power steering pump. 😆

The retro sounds mean! I'm really digging the carbon fox tho as I have a aod fox myself. Really shows you can still have a nasty ride with the aod.. the carbon fox has motivated me to get back at my fox. Have a edge 3500 stall sitting next to the car ready to go in. Love the channel!

@@mattmeyers81 165’s would work fine, but I just think the 185’s are the ticket for a mild to moderate build. Right now I’m running TF intake, Ecam, stock heads, bolt ons, 3000 stall, and 4.10’s. Running 8.70 in 1/8th. Hitting track this weekend. Would like a 8.50-8.60

Turbo acts like a muffler itself. Calypso is too quiet. I'd like to hear it with 3 inch turbo back straight pipe

And that right there is the only regret I ever had putting turbos on my car - the loss of that classic mean fox mustang sound!
