Decided to do a little video on my 1965 Mustang's exhaust! Just to break it down, I have full-length ceramic coated headers, an x-pipe, and Black Widow mufflers (Venom 250s). I have a mildly built 289 hooked up to a super T-10 4-speed transmission. My rear end has 3.80 gears and a posi.

I graduated high school in 2000. Due to an insurance settlement from a car wreck injury when i was 5, i had money to pick my first car. My dad had a 64 chevelle ss 327 in high school and my uncle/dad's older brother had a 68 GTO with a reputation that hurt lots of feelings. So growing up hearing all those CRAZY stories from the late 60s early 70s i had to have a legit muscle car. Decided a 67 chevelle looked the best to me so after almost 2 years of searching i got a 67 true super sport with a fresh 396 from texas = no rust. Car wasn't perfect but very solid new interior and reliably driveable. Got a good deal cause the guy was moving. Takes patience and time to pull the trigger on a worthy deal. Still have it. My dad's chevelle now he's had 35 years is a 68 true SS factory 4 speed 468 cubic inch borderline race yet steet-able motor my uncle built. It sounds scarier than this mustang but the stang does sound really sweet though. Respect and props to this young guy. He's enjoying himself! I'm happy, he is happy.

Guy at race track I think 21 yrs old had probably a 79 Camaro he took out the 305 and the automatic put in a 4-speed with 350 it only ran 16's in a quarter-mile but it was fun to watch he smoked the tires halfway down the quarter-mile track. He wasn't one of those kids to sit at home playing video games. He loved cars. His uncle told him help yourself to my car parts pile. I thought he said he took the pedals out of a Chevy truck.

Save it for less populated areas and avoid strife. 🙂👍

But my dad sanded it, primed it and painted it "Black and White" like a police car. LOL. In the mid or late 1990's, my dad gave it to my niece..... I was sad. Thanks much for these videos! I don't know if there's any better sound than a loud V8/4 speed combo. As a young man I had a 62' Grand Prix with tri power and a 4 speed. I could not get enough of that sound, driving it around Chicago at night, winding it out on the Lake Shore Drive on ramps, underground Wacker and on stoplight to stoplight contests. Man, that was living!

Have you considered swapping the transmission or changing the gearing? Seems like 2nd gear is way too close to 1st gear, and you could use a longer 4th for cruising

    I had a 1967 in High School 289 A model block (Art Carr C-4)
with mods suggested by a customer of mine I used to deliver chili powder to, I wont mention any names but his boat was named Sea Shell! The best place for stickers if you dont really want them but have some you gotta run is on your door jams. We raced off road and our pre-runner looked like a stock with tires and a mild lift but was built by Ray Currie "GSRyder" Very Trick With all the stickers for sponsor's & contingency inside the door jams, looked clean. With the doors opened it said "Racecar" (spelled backwards we all know is "racecaR").

Arrived to listen to what looks like a pretty phat '65, wasn't disappointed.
Stayed to be pretty envious of a classic car that looks well sorted (though you might want to look at getting some of that rust attended to (Right Side @ 4:13).
Also learned about growing homeless problem in LA.
I wanted to hang shit on you being a young lad in LA rolling around in a '65 like this one, but in seriousness, you seem like a genuinely enthusiastic guy.
Stay humble, stay hungry, and never, NEVER sell that car.

Steve McQueen “Bullet” Me and my dad built a 67 mustang fastback with a 390 with a 428 crankshaft making it a 410 CI. 428 Q code cylinder heads, Dove single plane intake, roller rockers, and a C4 automatic transmission! Won a lot of races on the streets.

Wohoo, sounds awesome, that’s exactly how I’ve envisioned a Mustang! I love the fact that you don’t pop it into neutral but instead use the engine brake. That makes the car more stable under deceleration since the car sits lower while in gear compared to when rolling free. Kudos for the wide ovals!

You know what's a trip, is as a kid in the 80s, all the young guys with muscle cars could afford were late-60s Chevelles and Mustangs or old big block trucks and this is how they all sounded. It seemed like by the 90s, all the old muscle cars had Flowmasters, and I've always hated that thin, gargling sound they put out but it seems like that's sound that everyone wants now, and I hate it.
THIS here, in this video, this is what my 1965 fastback is going to sound like shortly. Killer video.

I used to think the best muscle cars were show cars with great paint jobs, no rust, numbers matching, etc. but as I get older, muscle cars like this with unfinished paint, a little rust, a little beaten up, but great engines and brakes are what I’ve fallen in love with.
