I prefer the H pipe, personally. But my 5.0 also had Boss side pipes (2013), and I think that helped to compliment the ORH By removing the interference and allowing an extra depressurizing point
YESSS this is the content we want. Comparisons, Reviews, Testing. A lot of us have questions but don't have the money or access to parts to test like you. Thanks!
Though after a certain flow rate (Velocity/CFM) you'd bypass the H connector, it become a straight through anyways. That's why some vary the connector diameter to be smaller or same as the exhaust as part of the tuning, for lower RPM/Torque curve tuning. Whereas the X is a smooth collector/transition that aids in scavenging at higher RPMs increasing the CFMs. Thats why a 6,000RPM muscle car would have an H pipe for low end meat and a 7-9,000 RPM screamer would have an X. All based on the post 5252rpm transition part of the curve and how you've got your engine setup for.
Question, does an X or an H make that much of a difference or does it only change the hp in tens and fives? I’ve always assumed as long as you had no restrictions in the pipe and decent heads and headers, the back pressure is sorta negligible

@@MrSlimeMan01 the difference in horsepower between an X or H pipe is usually only between 2 - 5 hp. X pipes are louder but they do have that raspiness to them while an H pipe to me sounds smoother or more of a muscle car sound. on my s197 mustang the X pipe only sounds good until around 3000 to 4000 rpm then the rasp kicks in aka high pitch sound. H pipes are deeper sounding (old school muscle car sound) . If you get a really loud exhaust like corsa or borla (aka axlebacks) the rasp will be even more on the X pipe.
@@williamm9099 I see, I’ve already got an H pipe on my foxbody mustang, but I was thinking about replacing it with an X pipe, I saw a video of a truck with a similar engine to my mustang and it sounded like a classic nascar although the truck probably revved a bit higher. Mine still revs out to 6k so I doubt it’ll sound bad
This is actually a very proper video on a H vs X exhaust video. It came on my feed and super respectable of what I came across. You need a low and high rpm, as well as load (drift) videos. Very proper and unexpected. Thank you.
I like them both for different reasons. The H-pipe at idle has a flat and aggressive tone. But no sooner you give it some revs it sounds like a tin can vibrating in the back pressure. The X-pipe however sounds throatier and tuned. That is until you come off the throttle, then it gets some weird rev hang resonance.
Ricer rasp sound is not bc X or H. Just fisics. Need midle resonator that takes off hi pitch. Thete is no good sounding car in the world with high notes.
Excellent comparison video!! Both sound great, but I have to give the nod to the H pipe. My tuned '07 Mustang GT has Corsa Extreme setup with an H, because I prefer a more beefy muscle car sound.
H is definitely a deeper sound that I prefer and not as raspy / higher pitch as the X. Both sound good though but H is my vote. I also have an H on my "Rango." 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Best sound comparison video out there lol. Coming from an import background I say the X definitely sounds better in the smoothness. However being a new s550 owner I wanted the older gargle style sound from classic muscle cars so I went with the H lol. Plus it seems most guys are going X so I enjoy maybe sounding a little different.
That x sounds way more aggressive “Ear Splitting sound” and H just sound more louder in idle and cold/warm starts! (Great comparison video) and them drifts was 💪🏾💯😎👍
The X sounds better IMO, but the X cold start should've been filmed the following morning like the H cold start. Also, is it just the angle or does the system fit a little better with the X? The tips look like they don't stick out as far as the bumper.
I think on the coyote and the V6 cars the x sounds best. They are raspy little monsters anyway so might as well just own it. Not to mention the performance characteristics of the X pipe compliment the coyotes performance characteristics very well. This was a bad ass video!!!
Hello, how can I reach the broken ignition engine speed protection that appears at 1:56? The ordinary 6.5gt is the broken fuel injection engine speed protection. 1:56
I love my choice in X pipe for my Nissan Titan. The 32 valve engine makes a really smooth high performance note similar to a NASCAR car. Cherrybomb resonators ftw also
I do also like the X pipe sound better. I wonder what having both, an X & H pipe would sound like. Most of the Maseratis have both with the H up front and X in mid section and sound awesome for a luxury vehicle.
My caprice wagon has true dual exhaust and I love the poppy sound from it even though it's a boat anchor of a v8. Olds 307. I don't recommend for power
i much prefer a powerful sound, so either H pipe or dual exhaust. I think i'd opt for no h pipe or x pipe and just have dual straight pipes for maximum sound
True duals sound good at idle no doubt. But when you start revving you get too much rasp and clap unless you have the right muffler. H-pipe you get that deep and smoother sound because of the crossover and a great tone and louder idle but you eliminate the rasp when revving
First up, your drift skills are impressive. This was a very interesting comparison. I was slightly more impressed with the H-pipe but I was born during the crustaceous period. 🦕
Equal length vs unequal too. Running true equal length headers/exhaust with the X would sound wicked. though the unequal is what 99% of OEM V8s are. Plus its based on the mufflers too. Chambered vs straight through. Set of Black Widows on a Yote sound 100x better.
alwayd a x pipe guy since most mustangs came with h pipe well i went mac headers bassani x pipe no cats and edelbrock racing mufflers on my 1990 fox. it had the most original more exotic sound. the right gear right speed it sounded like ak47 was shooting but during WOT it just sounded different than most mustangs it sounded just like a straight race car. with the same old h pipe flowmaster borla etc etc of the time. And the soun just got better as i built it. Go figure i had my baby stored during wisconsin winter and had every bold om possible. so i kept it stored instead going and bolting more stuff on working and saving for my first supercharger. i finally get my supercharger and a nitrous kit and go to install in spring and my mustang was gone stolen and no insurance because it wasnt being driven. all my blood sweat and tears and now with health problems cant get another mustang. Mine would be coyote swapped by now. coyote popped the picture right after my car was stolen. now i live through yours and other ford guys videos. Thankyou brother. wish i could get out and thrash again.
Yes! This is great content! Never knew the specific regarding the differences until now. They both sound bad ass but I would also lean towards x pipe for overall sound.
Both sounds good it doesn’t matter what you have if you like the sound already little difference doesn’t justify the cost. What would be the sound of double x or double h.
Since you prefer high revving and smoother sounding v8s, what’s your opinion on 180 degree headers ? They seem like a nightmare to work on but sound unbelievable
@@chelseadenofa the ideal way is to have a flatplane v8 as it does inherently what the 180 degree headers do but I guess a gt350 might make a ridiculously expensive drift car If money was not a problem, creating a M3 GTR drift car would be quite nice

X pipe is too raspy, sounds like a foreign v8, even the h pipe sounds different, but i love the note to the h, its like a good blend of modern and muscle. The H pipe gives me hoonicorn vibes.
Bro, may I have your opinion? I have a 2015 Dodge charger v6 we jut got. Res delete and its straight piped which is kind of terrible. what would you do the the charger v6?
X pipe.. I have a 2003 Mach 1 when I change it from h to x .. people love the sound of it.. to me it sounds like a race car.. sound makes it more fun..
Both sound sweet. I'm here for the H pipe. Love the direct comparison at the end. Great video!

I personally like the deeper and muscular sound of the H pipe!!.
Both sound great, I lean more towards the H pipe, I like the deeper sound.
This is a perfect use of my surround sound
