Great review. I’m an old guy wanting to extend my riding years, and was intrigued by the DCT and light weight. I’ve been looking at these for a couple months. Test rode one 3 days ago, and bought it! Really a fun bike to ride.
First time rider, saw multiple videos on this bike and once I got my endorsement I bought this bike. I absolutely love this bike and already cranked out 1600 miles in the first month and 2 weeks, I ride it everywhere!
Careful doing that though, motorcycles aren’t for constant leisure. You’ll need to do more maintenance the more miles you rack, which happens quick. You may wanna have a car on the side
When i was younger i use to ride nothing but fast bike ninjas bmw suzuki now the im old i just want to enjoy life! 5 days ago got my 1100 rebel and i love it!!❤
Marvelous review, thanks for that. I'm in the mid-sixties and restart biking right now. My 1100 Rebel DCT is just about to be registrated. And I'm going to love the DCT.
You don't have to switch to manual mode to shift manual with the flippers. Use the flippers when you think you need them. The computer will take over after a few seconds so your ride is more relaxed. When you like more fun : go to Sport mode and use the flippers before a corner, to shift one down ;)
Like your review I'm 66 riding for over 40 years and with some arthritis I was trying to get one in 2021 couldn't find at all , just happened to call local dealer and they just got one in so I went and bought it, the Burgundy color 1100T totally different ride but Loving it only have 200 miles but it's a winner! Still hard to find dealer can't get any
Many dealers won't let you test ride...anyway here in Indiana. (indianapolis) Going to look at a couple here saturday, couple hours south of here. Sux this place will not let me test drive, however. Personally, I would buy one that is bare and do aftermarket fairing, side hard bags (ones that can be easily/quickly detached and taken say, into a hotel) middle storage with built in back rest. This would be the ultimate for a long haul, for me and my girl. I'm 58 and getting the fever....again.
We agree, it’s stupid that dealerships won’t allow a test ride before buying. You can’t get a feel for a motorcycle by merely straddling it on a showroom floor. We very much dislike the standard hard bags that come with this model, but the batwing faring is pretty good, and that DCT transmission is superb. Get you a base model one, set it up and kit it out to your liking, then you and your girl go see America on it!
@@roaddirttv I’ll be driving one somewhere before I would buy. Just looking I recon. Someone online will see this or another forum (adv rider) and be close. Thx for the review on this. What I do not want is my wrist hurting as I get older harder to ride more than 10 miles on my bicycle. Really would like neutral pressure on my wrists and forearms if possible. Probably a handle bar exchange on rebel would fix any issues.
Firstly, there is no perfect bike, and I've never owned/ridden a cruiser/bagger before, but this has grabbed my attention. I always price up all the parts i want to fit to a bike before I'd consider purchasing one. This is pretty cheap to sort out, de-cat A/T downpipes, slip on end(£30 here), forward controls, with the rear brake on the LH bar(you can get a matching, Nissin, master cylinder for a clutch) , a rack, and a custom underseat tank, that's one serious touring machine! I'd maybe fit slightly longer shocks over time, sits a tad low....oh,a round taillight, just for my OCD, aftermarket one for a Yamaha Bolt/XSR700, because everything on the bike is round, apart from that...like an after thought? Have been in 30+ States, but never down in the corner,beautiful...now that Sleepy has relaxed entry to the USA,we Purebloods can once again come visit? Look forward to visiting you all, once again!
I have a Honda CTX700 with DCT. Shifting is fun but not shifting is truly living the good life 😊 I want to upgrade to a Rebel 1100 for more power and cruise control. A taller seat and some pullback bars should take care of that odd rider triangle.
Really enjoyed this content. I am seriously considering the purchase of this bike. The dct transmission certainly appeals to me as i am getting gear change weary in my later years. The only concern I have is the riding position looks a bit cramped as I would use the bike for touring but hopefully I could sort that out with a higher seat.
That was really our only beef with the bike. The handlebars need more of a pullback, and the foot controls are kind of tall. Great ground clearance and lean angle, but it’s supposed to be a tourer, so it really needs a more relaxed rider triangle.
Great Review! Back one the ‘70s I had two good friends that had the 750-4 Automatic. They both loved them. One was an average Joe Rider and the other was a long time Honda mechanic and rode raced his (sponsored by Honda of course) in 24 he races winning 95% of his races for Honda. Personally I didn’t care much for the Autumatics as I feel it takes a great deal of the FUN out of Riding. But that’s just my opinion. Please keep up the Good Work and Cheers from Salem, Ohio.
I have a '15 Honda CTX700 DCT. It's my go to bike if I'm heading into the nearest small city..... with its 7 bazillion traffic lights. Its only got about 50HP so not exactly exciting, but the K1600 isn't designed for stop n go traffic. Since the wife and I are looking at trailering on road trips (she bought a Ryker), I'm considering selling my bikes and getting one of these. DCT plus some power. Instead of "touring", we'll get an Air BnB or dry camp in the trailer.... and just day trip with the motorcycles.
Nice review, thanks. And yes, I will do a test ride before I purchase one Rebel 1100T 2024, the Matte Black version as I think they will launch next year… before I go the way of the dodo ! 🤣
the decline of bikes is price and stricter license regulation, in florida is like $500 to get it. Loved the shifting, but is just more about enjoying the ride, i don't need to prove i can shift.
I was looking at the front wheel. Does that look weak? I'm just wondering about the high speed wobble some are getting. They blame the stock front tire. I just don't know. Seems like flexing wheels could do that, but who knows?
On the left handlebar grip, there’s two small flat levers, “paddles” if you will, one at the index finger and one where your thumb would be. Tapping the finger one clicks up through the gears, while tapping the thumb paddle clicks back down through the gears.
@@roaddirttv oh ok, thinking about ordering a new one. I just sold my Harley Electra glide. Sick of the loud engine and vibration. Great touring bike but ready to downsize . Appreciate the info . What state you in, is insurance on these expensive?

What’s your size? If you’re over 5’10”, the footpegs might feel kind of high and cramped. If you’re under that, it won’t feel so cramped. Good bar reach, the DCT tranny is superb, power aplenty for the open road. Hard bags are subpar in our estimation, but otherwise would be a great tourer.

66.123 cubic inches, 1083.6 cubic centimeters, 1.084 liters. 87hp 72 ft. lb. 40 mpg. Personally I would like better aerodynamics and a larger fuel tank. Get me loaded to 200 miles please.
First thing I did was ask my fabricator about an underseat tank, not a problem, he said, going by the pictures...why I'm considering one as a longhaul tourer....maybe some crash bars/leg protection from the rain is needed? I could see me riding that to the Black Sea from Scotland?
Seat is too low, bars too forward, footpegs too high and central, all of which would change with a real suspension, seat, bar, and forward pegs. So how much for all of that? Honda has the right idea with this bike. I like the fairing and hard bags. It's light, low, fast, and gets good economy on the highway if you don't turn it up. What more could one want? Fix its weaknesses and you got a bike.
You see, I love thinking about the 1100, but I'm pretty sure this would be my experience as well. Especially those bars. Wayyy too far forward for a lighter, more maneuverable bagger/tourer. It's got the DCT which is big for me, but I'll stick with my CTX even though it doesn't lean as far as I want it to.

We didn’t experience any of the high speed wobble some talk about, and a total of four riders took their turns in the saddle.
What’s wrong with the hard bags? Too small?
They are kind of small capacity, but they mainly have a cheap hinge and latch mechanism. It’s terrible.
