I bought mine last month. Love the bike. Thought after 56yrs in the saddle I'd never own a bike like this as I've always owned sport bikes or off road bikes. Over a100 bikes later, here I am. Love the DCT. The seat was the first thing to go, opted for the Mustang. Put a taller windscreen on it (Honda) replaced the foot pegs and added a bar riser with a 1" back. It's now perfect for me!
Just got one. Brilliant and silky smooth. So refined. Program 4 parameters and it does exactly what you want when you want. Shifts quicker and smoother than any human can. Why be a stubborn purist about manual shifting with a clutch? Best bike I’ve ever had in 40 years of riding. Hard to believe. This is the future with Honda leading the way. Others will follow.
I think this will be my next bike. Changing gears was a nice novelty on my first bike, but I've had automatic cars for 45 years now, and I'd never go back to manual. I think I'd really love this bike for all the same reasons I prefer automatic cars!!
How it is in city riding? Is too bulky or heavy for city with bad traffic jams. Is it okay for lane splitting? I too think that dct is perfect for city or chill rides.
@@bataganbat7178 Everything I mention refers to city riding as far as ease, refinement, smoothness, and simplicity of use. I do mostly city riding. Its also powerful and smooth enough on highway with plenty of passing power, up to 110 mph where it has a speed limiter (or is it 100?). I never go above 90 anyway. Compared to most cruisers, at 508 lbs wet weight, that is fairly light. As far as bulky, no, for a middle weight class bike it is not bulky. It feels like a slammed low bike as seat height is only 26” or so. It feels light and nimble compared to any 1200 cruiser I’ve ever had, and that includes many brands. But compared to the Rebel 500, also a FUN FUN bike, sure the 1100 is bulky and heavy. If you never go above 60mph and if you’re always in traffic, the lighter, narrower 500 is better but the scooter style operation which is ideal in heavy traffic still favors the 1100 until they make a 500DCT. Funny I am in Thailand right now and renting a scooter, the only way to get around here. I had a 500, but it was weak and buzzy on highway with my 200 lbs on it. So I traded in for the 1100. Lane splitting- I cannot say. In Vegas where I live, I don’t do that. Handle bars dont seem too wide and stock mirrors aren’t out there far but that would be some research. To me the Honda 1100 DCT is the end all, do all bike, and the last bike you will ever have. What bike is out there that can do all it can do? Nothing close. Hope that helps. PS. Honda makes a large 750cc scooter, perfect for heavy city traffic and it goes on highway too. A buddy of mine loves his. But if you want a gorgeous badazz bike it’s the Rebel.
I agree. Bought this as my 1st bike, beginner bike. Got used to it with rain mode. Within 2 weeks of owning, I'm using user mode now. I love this thing. Don't have to worry about clutch or shifter. I can enjoy the ride and respond quicker to dangerous situations.
Would be cool if more manufacturers put out a DCT (with manual paddles) version of their bikes. I feel like more people would start riding. A Yamaha MT07 with DCT/paddles would be a blast!
@@Voltomess yea man it really is the best of both worlds. Super easy for just chill rides and in traffic with the option to ride sporty whenever. I do think it would be cool if they kept the buttons for shifting but also added a foot actuated shifter so you could use your left foot if you wanted!

I have a 2021 Can Am Spyder F-3S. They all now come with a semiautomatic transmission. 6 forward gears and a mechanical reverse gear. Love it. 1330 cc triple. It has paddles to up and downshift, however it will downshift as you slow down but you must upshift, downshifting is always automatic however you can downshift using the paddles. This bike is a blast. My last bike was a Valkyrie std. loved that bike. Thought the Spyder might work as a replacement. Very happy with it. It’s like driving/ridding a formula 1 race car on the street! TC,Stability control, cruse control, ABS breaks (Brembo) it will stop on a dime and give 9 cents change! Just about to start my second season on it. Best 3 wheel motorcycle out there. Love the 2 wheels up front and the big 225X15 in the rear!!!
@@InsaneBimmer that’s ok, I have thick skin! I also had a pretty bad stroke a few years back. I thought my days of motorcycle ridding was over! My balance is so bad I couldn’t ride a 2 wheel bike of any sort. The Spyder has got me back in the wind! 😉
@@InsaneBimmer Only the ignorant are laughing... I've ridden a Spyder F3-S a few times and that things is pretty awesome riding. I can out-ride my two wheeler on it, it doesn't have to slow down for anything, even hard turns. The Honda DCT transmission in manual mode is very similar to the Spyder, except the DCT having two clutches shifts faster, and the paddle shifters are opposite of each-other which gets confusing if you are used to one and try to ride the other.
I had a Yamaha r3, and upgraded to a R6 but it’s very uncomfortable on long rides. My friend bought a Rebel 1100 dct and he let me ride it and holy crap I now want one it’s so comfy on the high way
I would like a bigger fairing and taller bars for mine. Seeing the red in the sun makes me feel like I should’ve got the red. Not a fan of having to fight the bags to get them closed.
you can just get a normal model and add some bags and a fairing and get it like you want... works fine for me. My Memphis shades fairing is a lot bigger and better for touring than the Honda one. Still having a chain and small gas tank makes it only best for short range unless you like to stop a lot and carry extra chain maintenance stuff with you.
sounded like you are under the impression that you can use the paddles only in manual mode, but they work all the time up or down. and just fyi .. the shifters will also cancel the cruise, which only needs to be turned on once, then it is always on until you turn it off, even next day
As-is, a tourer in name only. A slightly bigger tank so can get at least 200 miles minimum, optional mini-floorboards, then it could be called a mini-tourer.
Just got mine yesterday and have rode it 120 miles. As a guy who has very limited experience with street bikes I love it! I have had many dirt bikes as a kid and young man but this is MY first street bike. With that said I feel like it's a bit under powered.
I have the 2018 Honda CTX700DCT, and I love it. But I had to put a custom Corbin seat on it. Anyone under 150lbs will be fine with the stock seat. But I can ride for hours and hours with the Corbin. I have the bags and I can also do a light grocery run on that bike. I want to upgrade to the Rebel 1100T next year. Hope they make the saddle bags bigger by that time.
They definitely need to quit calling it a Rebel😂 I bought my wife one and I like riding it. Don’t let the DCT turn you off- it’s actually pretty cool. I ride a VTX1300 so I normally don’t ride an automatic. I don’t mind the DCT like I thought I would. I’m 5’ 10” and I feel tall on the 1100. The comment at the end about wishing the HD Sportster S had the DTC is cool. The Sportster S or the Fat Bob 114 are my current dream bikes. I'm a noob and looking for my first year learning bike. Honing in on the Rebel 500. But I've been thinking a lot 'it would be cool if Harley started offering these DTCs!". The idea of the DTC is so cool to me that I've very lightly thought about 'should I just get at Rebel 1100 and be done with it? No Sportster S and Fat Bob 114 later?' but I just can't bring myself to do it. The Sportster S in particular is just so awesome and the Fat Bob would be great for the kind of 2up riding I want to do with my wife. So just going Rebel 500 with its traditional manual is likely the path for me.
The moment someone says “it does everything for you”, I know they have no idea what they’re riding. Paddle shifting is a skill you need to learn when going to the canyons on a DCT, even in the city. I’ve owned my Rebel DCT for 2 years and it is the best motorcycle I have ridden so far. Chase, take her to the canyons and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Also, “active experience, my a$$”
OC, great video. Would be cool to see a review of some of the other rebels. Even the 300, for those new riders who want a small bike. So if this is a touring bike what then is my NT1100? One thing with the cruise control and it's the same on NT1100 with the button a long stretch for your thumb is can leave it on. Even when you turn the bike off the next time you ride it the cruise control is on. You just need to reset the speed with the up down lever.
Please Honda. Take this good motor and dct and all the other tech iincluding cruise control and put it in a larger more relaxed riding cruiser, maybe kind of like what you did with the CTX 700 discontinued series. Even better build that great 1300 motor you had into a dct real mid weight bagger.
So I’ve always loved sport bikes I tried out the gsxr 1000 and 750 an cbr1000 cause I’m looking for my first bike and I fell in love with rebel it’s just so laid back an comfortable
I have a CB1000 R. I love blipper but the DCT sounds like a wonderful proposition. Riding is difficult enough. Getting your mind just focused gas break and steering ❤. This spec you got with the bags. The paint. Hope it comes to Canada. Looks like street glide if you squint 😅.
Metric cruises always look very, metric. It’s like they have all the right parts but the dimensions are a little off. It’s not a bad thing but it’s like a police sketch artist was told what a bagger looked like, having never seen one, then passed the pic over to the design team. At any rate, not a bad looking bike but I do have issue with how high that tank is. It’s like the made it 6 inches longer then squished it to get the wheelbase they wanted. I’d ride it though. Bet it will give any bagger the “what’s up” in the corners. Seems like power is good and handling is good. Always enjoy you videos and appreciate all of the video angles.
Why dosent they add Start/Stop bumdled in the DCT option? Engine from Africa Twin, cruise control from Gold Wing, and finaly Start-Stop from PCX... so obvious in my mind. If the gears go automatic you should have the option to shut off the bike while in traffic. Tell me yours opinion
Now I see where honda Was going with this bike.. Way better setup with the Fairing and bag’s.. for how much..??$$$$ bet it out Preforms most in the cruiser Series bikes

I hate to tell you this but... All of us on two wheels laugh at y'all on comms. Sorry.
@@troy9erthat’s all that matters brother!
@@troy9er Nah we don't. I might grab one of them for night rides since it gets a little sketchy on twos at night.
Mine locks easy I just keep it unlocked and hold the front of bag and push down just above lock and it clicks and then lock it
Add forward controls, a 5-gallon fuel tank, manual transmission option for us, and refined suspension and Honda will have a bangga
They have manual 1100s. But I agree with the 5 gallon tank
@@csolivais1979 they need manual for the 1100T. Now it’s only DCT.
you can just get a normal model and add some bags and a fairing and get it like you want... works fine for me. My Memphis shades fairing is a lot bigger and better for touring than the Honda one. Still having a chain and small gas tank makes it only best for short range unless you like to stop a lot and carry extra chain maintenance stuff with you.
The problem with a tank change is the integrated fuel pump, makes it a tad pricy.
@@csolivais1979 Plenty room below the seat for an auxiliary tank
Phenomenal video. I think this is the bike for me after injuring my clutch hand. Thanks for the detailed video.
sounded like you are under the impression that you can use the paddles only in manual mode, but they work all the time up or down. and just fyi .. the shifters will also cancel the cruise, which only needs to be turned on once, then it is always on until you turn it off, even next day
Just test rode a rebel 500 and I loved it
Note: A few companies already have forward control kits 👍🏼
As-is, a tourer in name only. A slightly bigger tank so can get at least 200 miles minimum, optional mini-floorboards, then it could be called a mini-tourer.
Going to be my first bike…period. Thank you.
What a coincidence, looking for a new bike and have been eyeing this for a while. So ready for winter to be over tbh
Hey Chase. I did a short where I tested capacity of the bags. Total capacity…. 3 gallons of milk total.
My old playground and my new ride in one video 😢😍 fabulous video!
You can shift it anytime you want even in regular drive mode.
That fairing is a nice balance of looks, size, and just enough to include getting wind off hands.
Just got mine yesterday and have rode it 120 miles. As a guy who has very limited experience with street bikes I love it! I have had many dirt bikes as a kid and young man but this is MY first street bike. With that said I feel like it's a bit under powered.
It only has 84 horsepower
Because its a cruiser bike... thats why the power a bit under if u want more power.. sports bike is what u looking for..
Park it in the light for the walk around so we can properly see it.
Do you think the fering really made a difference with the wind?
The batwing fairing design has been around for decades , I'ld guess because it works 🤷🏼♂.
They definitely need to quit calling it a Rebel😂
I bought my wife one and I like riding it. Don’t let the DCT turn you off- it’s actually pretty cool. I ride a VTX1300 so I normally don’t ride an automatic. I don’t mind the DCT like I thought I would.
I’m 5’ 10” and I feel tall on the 1100.
The seat is the worst I have ever sat on unless you count an army gamma goat.
Man, that tiny fairing has got a lot of heavy lifting to do for this to be a "touring bike"
Color looks dope tho
Great review! I have the manual and it's an amazing lightweight scoot!
23:30 I think you should push the cruisecontrol on before you leave and then you can reach the Res/Set switch as you showed us.
It was so funny the way he walked up to the bike...lol and how he backed away from it...😂

Amazing bike and really nice review!
lose the electronic garbage (music)! Nice video, I am an owner of the 1100T DCT and love it so far.
Pretty cool bike! I love that 1100 engine, it's a shame they don't make a CB1100 with DCT
End it sounds so good because of the 270° crank. Sounds more like a V-twin than a parallel twin and feels that way too.
And this whole time I thought it was DCT, for double clutch transmission.
Also, “active experience, my a$$”
You drive a glorified moped lmao get a real bike.
OC, great video. Would be cool to see a review of some of the other rebels. Even the 300, for those new riders who want a small bike. I have had a lot of inexperienced riders ask me my opinion, but you can't even find them in my area. It would also be cool to see some reviews of cheaper new bikes in general. Great video!
Yes, I was never taught how to Shift, & have an Electric Sondors Metacycle & a 2nd on the Way.The Zero Adventure Bike is outta my Price League,& am happy, any DCT that I can put a gal in the back, is available.I will probably buy a Honda Monkey, to learn how to shift, also cus, bikes will be my Poor Man's collection, till we get to the Lambo & Ferrari level lol
I love those rolling shots!
We need 250cc DCT for Asia market. Huge demand here. About 3 million motorcycle sale per year in Indonesia only.
A lot of DCT's are rough going from 1st to 2nd, hopefully they can evenually make all of them flawless
Not a bad job. I'll give it a "6" on appearance, but mechanically, Honda's always gets a "10."
Ya the huge bars seem very over stated especially with the small gas tank
All I have to do to get to work is drive 15 mins down a straight road.. I'm thinking of getting something like this for that
This is a 300cc ,400cc Scooter user to bike user. I can see myself switching to this pretty easily.
Just need them to put the dct in all the rebel sizes. Would love to see a rebel 500 dct
Now I see where honda
Was going with this bike..
Way better setup with the
Fairing and bag’s.. for how much..??$$$$ bet it out
Preforms most in the cruiser
Series bikes
Seat is the worst! I just bought a Corbin gunfighter for my Rebel and I love it!!
Super comfortable? I’m looking for a different seat as well.
I'm a fellow lover of a MT07, own a 2018 MT09 and a 2023 MT10. i have owned a FLHT and dont want the big bulky that goes with it. I'm considering this in a manual for a daily commuter that i can bring crap with me. i love the power of a MT09, but want better wind protection and more comfort in mind. how would i enjoy this bike in your honest opinion?
great review. well explained 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hey! what was with the little dance up to the bike, wait, do you drink budlight? lol
Chase got a question for you ands maybe you can give me some assistance I have a 2020 R6 and I need new tires do u have any recommendations?
1) Do you recommend I just replace with the same tires that came with the bike originally?
2) I was also looking at the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III
3)Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22.
4)Michelin Road 5
5)Dunlops - Mutant Tires -
Would appreciate any help or if you have another tire you can recommend. Thanks
Im going Q5s from Dunlop all day.
So you didn't like the 2021 Africa twin DCT but you like the Rebel 1100 DCT? 🤔
Dif style bike dif style riding.
Dct on a touring bike would be ideal ..
From what I have seen the seat takes awhile to break in. I think @Lifeofburch said his took a few thousand miles.
Those are full face helmet fit in the panniers , cool bike
This bike will be my next bike😎
I'm 6'5 how do you think it would fit me cross country?
Awesome review and video
No friction zone.. So how is low speed maneuverability?
That’s what I’m wondering
Happy Friday all that’s all I’m here for
Well done! Does this bike sit too low? Can U raise or upgrade the seat? VALUE?
Great vid .. I like this bike at under 10k here in the uk, I think it’s a great price, I was looking at a 48, but I need the bike to be an all rounder, seems like this would fit the bill 👊
How do you compare it to your sportster S, would you swap it ?
The bike is dope af!
Only thing it needs is upsidedown forks.....
I love my honda rebel 500 (first time rider) would up upgrade to cmx1100 or go elsewhere?
or keep 500 and look for a different style bike
Vulcan 650 S
Probably a little small for a 6 ft 270 lb feller wouldn't you say? A set of highway pegs ought to work on thr highway since it's an automatic ?
