  • This is my review of the Delonghi Esam3300 - I think it’s a Great Entry Into Super Automatic Machines or someone looking to get a much better experience then something like a pod machine like a Keurig or an espresso machine. I left out a couple things. Don’t use oily beans and the red light that was going off is the descaling light. If you have any questions about this machine I will answer very quickly in the comments below. My next review will be the barista express.

    Thanks for the good review. I owned a similar model for 10-12 years. Had it repaired once or twice but used it numerous times over that period. For the price, absolutely no complaints. Makes a good quality coffee.

      Yeah they make a couple similar products and gaggia makes something called the brera which is almost identical. I moved on to a semi automatic which is much more of a pain but the end product is just a bit better

    The infuser can’t be removed while the machine is on - that’s why it wouldn’t come out. 😀

      I think the delonghi is better I use to own the ena and it didn’t give you enough control over grind size

    Today Would you buy this model again, or would you rather buy philips 4300?

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  2 года назад +1

      I honestly haven’t liked any of the Philips I have had they are ok but the espresso quality just doesn’t match the delonghi in my experience I have used older Philips and the newer 2200 and 3300 and haven’t been impressed. If you want something that does auto frothing go with the higher end delonghi or the terra kaffee (bang for buck)

    Great review, looking for a automatic at this price range. Does it have a hot water dispenser? I want to make americanos . Also, what other machine would you suggest at this price range?

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  2 года назад

      Well I use to recommend the terra kaffe but after some issues with them I’m not sure I would recommend them. Iv heard good things about the gaggia brera but I have never personally used one. The delonghi does have hot water that comes out through the steam wand

  • @tyty3022

    Joe, with the Jura's you have tried how does the Delonghi compare? I like a stronger espresso from this type of machine and have heard the Juras are not as strong.

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  2 года назад +1

      I think the delonghi is better I use to own the ena and it didn’t give you enough control over grind size. If you want the strongest shots of espresso though you may want to consider as semi automatic

    Just got one of thee machines, Joe. What are the dial settings for water / coffee you tend to use? I have mine dialed in for a single shot, but I've heard all the double button does is double the water. Since my coffee setting is about 3/4 of the way up, it feels like I'd get too much water instead of a real double-shot.

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I keep the ground coffee amount cranked all the way up. The water volume I typically keep half way up and just manually stop brewing at around 2oz. The best way to get a dial in on a super automatic is to just use time and volume since you can’t really weigh anything. So shoot for 2oz out in about 20 to 27 seconds at first drip. Honestly it’s hard to over extract in this machine generally speaking since it uses a pressurized filter basket. Generally my grind size is at 2 or 3

    • @RobStevens64
      @RobStevens64 3 года назад +1

      I appreciate the reply. I landed on 2.5 for the grind setting with my current settings. Sounds like I should play around a bit more. Started with Lavazza Super Crema (got a great deal), but any other coffees you recommend for this machine?

    I found one of these on Craigslist for $200 with an included extra infuser. I also found a gaggia brera for $290, but it's only a year old. I really like strong coffee and espresso. Unfortunately, I can't afford a true manual espresso set. If you just wanted a machine to make strong Americano style drinks, and a machine that not hard or expensive to maintain, would you choose the older magnifica 3300 for $200 or the year old gaggia brera for $290?

    I have a dark roast coffee that I absolutely love, but it is oily. Does this Delonghi have a bypass for pre-ground coffee? I'm just now starting to research coffee makers (we've had a Philips Saeco Italia for about 15 years that finally bit the dust), and it seems like a lot of people say don't use oily beans. Is that true for every coffee maker out there or do I need to go to a semi-automatic? Like I said, I'm new to this. Maybe the oily beans is what finally made the Italia die?

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  2 года назад

      Semi automatic would be better since you could get a grinder that can handle oily beans. But the delonghi does have a by pass

      @@Alex-ss4bk how old our your beans check the roast date make sure it’s atleast 7 days out and may need ten days from roast date. Next I keep the coffee grounds amount to the max and try and go as fine as possible. This will maximize extraction and lower the chances of underextracting (sour) next run the shot alittle longer from the point of first drip shoot for maybe 25 to 35 seconds. Let me know if that helps!!!!
