Old guy here: I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos and will keep an eye on your future endeavors. I am closing in on retirement, or at least slowing down, so I can't be too casual with the coin. That being said, I rely on you and Trav to give me (mostly) affordable ways to enjoy driving. I also enjoy your charisma and humor, so don't change that.
I remember episode 1. And I’ve ridden in that 911 that went across country with the Thule Box on it. Love you and Trav and you guys are magical. Thanks for making your dreams come true and showing others how theirs can too! With a car!

Honestly, I really appreciate the heart-felt response. Everything you mentioned, about the direction you want to go, yes, love it. All of it.
There's a lot of sad stories out there where YT celebrities shift their presentation focus due to pressure from their viewers. The focus ends up becoming a quick-paced mindless presentation of something completely different than what the original creator intended.
The way I would view this channel is a way to share your car passion with the world... Whatever that might be. If it's racing, if it's reviewing, if it's modding, etc. You always end your videos with the tagline "Keep livin' the ideal lifestyle". That's what I want to see. This channel can't become a chore. It can't become a burden, it can't become something you dread doing every day. For the quick turnaround videos, think of them like a vlog. Until you get all the content together to make your big presentation... whenever that might be. Maybe just strap a camera to you and churn out highlights of the week every weekend. Or whatever video upload frequency fits your fancy. There's a ton of content on YT. We all have other videos we can watch in the mean time. I would have the attitude similar to the driver with a bunch of passengers. The driver can't be bothered to listen to everyone who wants to take every side street. You have a mission, objective and destination. We're just along for the ride. We're more like fans, honestly.
If you want a lambo, get it. If you want to ditch the Bronco (thought you guys did that already) and graduate from the Porsche, Do IT! I'd love to see you guys pickup an Oshkosh M-ATV to replace the Bronco. But that's just because I love $400K MRAPs, lol.
Take us where YOU want to go. Show us what ideal looks like. That's what I would do. Ideal for me means not slaving away making YT vids every day. But that's me.
I think your surveys are a good way to gauge your audience, so those should continue.
I also really like the mechanical shakedown elements. Other videos I watch consist of complete engine teardowns. Just so I know what I'm in for if I buy the car in the future. (RIP STi and RX8. Your engines are showstoppers.) Maybe capture some of that mechanic drama (the throwing things against the wall kind), mixed with the mechanical challenge faced, and a commentary on what happened. Even if it's something simple. Like, maybe snapping a steel bolt head off in an aluminum condenser, only to try and drill it out, only to have that fail and cause you to scramble to get a new condenser and get it installed by the following day. I know you've been there. We all have. That kind of detail we can relate to.
Also, don't underestimate the power of timelapse.
I think soliciting feedback is good in general, so long as, what you take away, ties in with your direction. Comments like "your videos suck", or "Unsubscribed" aren't very helpful. It doesn't tell you anything. You're just left sitting there saying "what did I do wrong?". I really hope you guys maintain your comments engagement. Although, I know the more subscribers, the harder that is.
Just remember, quality over quantity. What made Nissan, Toyota and Honda great? R&D It takes time and effort to make something awesome. If people want something quick and easy, it's not going to be that great. That's just the reality of the situation.
I hope this has been helpful and I really look forward to where you guys take everything. A great way to end 2023 and a great way to start 2024.

Excellent and well thought out comment, friendo. There was you wisdom presented that could be attributed to all sorts of individuals in varying situations. I totally agree with basically everything you shared. These guys are being vulnerable with us and absolutely WANT to knock us off our feet with quality content, and I feel that comments like that really give them something tangible to reference (as opposed to "uNsUbCrIbEd"). I'm a 997 owner and have really enjoyed your channel. Refreshing is usually always good but that 997 Safari is so brand iconic. I vote you keep that one. Keep up the good content, blessings and favor from God.

What I'd love to see with the channel, not if but WHEN you guys blow up into a bigger channel, is maybe future car meet ups with us fans and make vids out of it. Take the cars and coffee approach, and allow enthusiasts to add more education and entertainment to the channel.
Dude I almost cried, this channel is the one that changed my mind about Lexus . I used to think they're boring, except of course the IS300. The information, an insight you give is both useful.
Bare in mind South Africa don't get all the cars you guys get a lot of cars we don't get or got. But we got a few that's on the Ideal list and I enjoy every car on the list.

This makes me super excited to see the next evolution of ideal I remember 2018 was the first time watching your videos and the title was 10 cheaper cars that make you look rich
it's interesting how you keep reinventing your content and expanding it. I remember when we both first met at SEMA many years ago, and your channel has taken off exponentially. I'll never get to where you guys are now, (~30 subs a month is the growth rate I'm locked into) but it's been fun to watch your journey and how you guys have changed over it. Hope you achieve your goals with the new pivot and content.

Because ideal media has always been a passion channel that I like to watch to learn about automotive things in this world to keep my automotive knowledge prospering throughout this world. And it has been a very good friend in my darkest moments of life
I was a subscriber when you guys only had 100+k. And the “Save the manuals” TV shirt was and still is, epic…being that if it’s not a manual I won’t look twice at it lol😂…but your channel is so refined. You guys make me look at so many options of vehicles that I dream of from simple examples to super and hyper cars. I love your channel. I'm the type of guy who likes to modify a less expensive car to be able to compete with higher end cars like supercars. I would love to see those high-performance upgrade that keeps a car streetable but be able to compete with higher-end cars like you're thinking with the FRS. I'm currently building a 986 Boxster both body and engine that can perform close to the GT4 cayman both in looks and performance for less than 1/5 of the price. Hoping maybe one day it can be featured in your channel, I am in the PNW after all.

Brad.. Your videos at ideal are very informative and enjoyable. I've seen allot of channels change up their format I've the years and most instances it's not for the best. I like most of your viewers edit your videos and hour you don't change most about your channel. Don't screw up what is working for you. I know you may be getting bored or looking for new challenges but you know what they say. If it's not broke don't fix it.

How about a series where you build out an older econobox type vehicle into a Porsche beater! Say, a Datsun B210 hatchback or a Chevy Vega hatchback. Or the Nissan 240sx coupe from the mid 90's. Wicked restomods that have modern suspension, brakes, steering and drive train. Modern 4 bangers or 6 cylinders with forced induction that can crush modern sports cars. Just a thought. I have no doubts more great things to see are in the cards. Personally I would love to see a Porsche Cayenne built for overlanding and rugged off roading. I’d also love to see a segment dedicated to a mildly older crowd of enthusiasts with families to think about. Just a thought to perhaps help you continue your journey. Stay at it!

I love car reviews but they tend to become pretty stagnant - I watch way more build videos than reviews, however some of my favorite videos of yours are the ones doing comparisons and why should/shouldn’t buy kind of videos. But you have such a variety of content, that it’s by far one of my favorite channels.

For what to buy for the new channel project/car: my opinion, to be different from the other channels out there, import something unique never sold here in the states. Whether it's from Japan, Europe, Australia. Importing something would be bad ass!!!!
I have been subscribed to this channel for about 3.5 years or around 198k subs. It has been an incredible journey. I got an E46 330Ci which i sold a year later. and got an E82 128i. Do the BMW BTW

These serious moments of reflection and self-examination are a healthy sign of one who wants to continue to progress, as long as you continue to find joy in your successes (I was a teacher/long time high school coach who quit coaching because I found little joy in winning and greater emotions in losing). How about famous/familiar people and their first cars and how that inspired them (or not) to continue down the automobile path?
The "Ideal" concept, that is, for depreciation curves to inform the purchasing and resale decision making process was and is such a smart concept that I'm glad you're planning to continue providing a platform for it. I'll be very interested in the "Slayer" series as there is such a strong modding community (and aftermarket parts providers) which are surprisingly underserved in automotive video. My hope is that you take on 'regular' cars that people can afford and show how, with the proper planning and selection of parts, they can be made to perform to a much higher level.
