I like this format a lot. Thanks for putting the whole build in 1 video. Most car channels leave you on a cliffhanger and rarely even return to the same car leaving people wondering what happened with it. This method of filming is much more satisfying.
Pssst I am a Porsche tech if you ever need any instructions or info just ask! Also the grille you have is incorrect it blocks the ACC sensor there is a different one with a cut out for the ACC sensor. Other than that nothing more than a classic Porsche build! Lots of trips to the parts department for sure haha. Great work and I can’t wait to watch more!
came across to this video and saw your comment :) I have also rebuild a GTS 2020 with a light front damage. The ACC was calibrated and also the "front facing camera" for the assistance systems. error pops up again and goes away. ACC works, then again not etc. Searched in Audi/VW forums and in 90% of the cases, the front facing camera has an issue (soldering points) Have you experience with this? besides this small issue - the GTS 2020 with the 2.9l engine is a granade..
@pilotpeguin0, have you done an engine mount replacement on a Gen1 Macan GTS? Wondering if I have an engine bar up top and if I loosen the subframe that I can access both engine mounts? What I'm trying to avoid is removing steering rack, AC compressor or anything unnecessary. Thanks.
LOVE the way this turned out BUT I gotta be honest... I'm surprised you didn't swap the exhaust, flash the ecu, put new air intakes from flat6 and new wheels. Even as a daily driver, it deserves some upgrades! Bring on that video!!
Make sure you get the correct center grill for the front bumper, because you have the adaptive cruise control, the grill in front of the sensor should be different, it should have an opening. And curious to know if the car was equipped with 360° cameras? Because the front camera should be above the sensor for the adaptive cruise control. Check under the side mirrors to see if they have parking cameras there. If so, you need the front camera also.
I am so thankful you put everything in one episode instead of drawing out these parts order breaks into 10 different episodes. I know it probably costs you clicks and plays but it’s a much better viewing experience. Love your channel! I’m about to buy a Macan turbo, so thanks to this video I’ll try not to take out the front end ever. Also, what a great optioned car you found!! Love everything about it.
You'll need to find the correct front grille insert for a Macan with ACC though. Because that sensor requires an unobstructed view of the road ahead, to function properly.
I am on minute 4 and I can see this can doesn't have a millimeter frame damage, the headlights and radiator frame is not structural, or other pieces and tiny pillars. No side impacts, rear and front impact haven't damage the 2 main frame pillars at all, the right one is just missing the last part you stuck in the hole(the front frame rail extension), but the hole looks like factory, just sliding the ending piece of the main front pillar and the car can be arranged as factory. Plus I love Macan, even more GTS and this generation with the separate tail lights , a little sunken in the body is really nice design to me, it's literally my favorite daily Porsche. That's a smoking deal!
I bought a salvage 08' Cayenne Base 3.6 VR6 with a 6sp MT, and rebuilt it as well. Didn't spend nearly as much as you did but ended up only being $2K in the green. I like the car, so I'm keeping it. Love your channel! Keep it going! You're saving the planet from wreckage yards and metal melting.
I just discovered this channel a few days ago and have been binge-watching you guys ever since. As a crossover SUV guy myself who is loyal to the two cars that started it all, the Porsche Cayenne and the Infiniti FX35, I can say this is one of my favorite videos of them all. I totally understood what the feeling is like as you drove that luxury monster with all the tech for the first time. If you ever came across any salvaged Infiniti FX35 or FX50's (later branded QX70 with only a few 5.0s made as the QX), I would love to see what you could do with one of those! The Infiniti FX/QX community is huge and parts are not hard to find especially since it shares so many with the Nissan 350z and the many JDM import motors/transmissions available.
A better daily driver than the Macan is the Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription. I have have one and love it. The Macan doesn't have massaging seats and maintenance cost is much more.
I thought y'all should know, your uploads keep me watching and not just playing in the background. I appreciate the quality and the energy from y'all is awesome.
Been in the rebuild game for too long, and l'm paraphrasing what you said "you win some, you lose some". Enjoy the car, job well done. When I buy rebuilds, I drive them, and if after how many years of owning em I make a couple grand, it was basically a free car, and I made some money too.
I have a 2018 Macan S. Please put the AWE touring exhaust on it. I have it on mine and it is insane. Crackles and pops in sport plus. Also have the Cobb stage 1+ tune from flat 6 motorsports shop. Do that. It is the best daily driver. You’ll have a blast and never lack. Plus the Gen 1’s still reign as the best looking macan. Welcome to the club.
Also the acc warning is probably because you have the wrong grill insert. That big half circle behind the grill is the automatic cruise control radar. My grille has a cutout to show it Unobstructed.
I think it was a fabulous deal....no significant frame damage. Porsche parts are not cheap....but still worth it for what you get in that car....I would definitely keep that car and perform some upgrades!
Love this I just hit a 19 2.0 t with 75k yes the transmission is amazing.. but the power they put out of this Audi 2.0 wow I just imagine the v6 what a dream and that color 👏
HI buddy I'm your subscriber from Tanzania East Africa the reason i like and i differ you from automotive channels is you most of the time complete your videos thank you for that
Watching your videos is like a roller coaster of emotions. "I am 100% building a crashed car." "There is NO way that this will work out for me. I don't have the resources." Either way, I love the uploads. Keep up the good work!
I enjoyed watching you guys fix something to it's original spec! Just like I told Dalt on his channel I really just enjoy watching anything and everything you guys upload overall so it's nice to see just about any kind of video in my opinion! But I first hand understand why you guys dont fix as many as you part out because unless it's for personal use those rebuilt titles are almost impossible to sell for a fraction of the price! Loved the video and the whole team, keep it up!
I'm also dealer from Maryland, just got today 18 macan S 53k miles(with bunch of options), watching you video so I can double check my missing parts ;))))
I have a 2017 Audi Q7, so many VAG parts bin pieces shared between these cars. Not surprised Porsche taxes on these VW parts. Really enjoyed this type of build video!
Awesome loved it. I think a Macan was the first Porsche I ever drove. I think every modern Porsche kind of reminds me of a cockpit, button's and switches everywhere
Video was very enjoyable! Love the fact that I was a one video Build. usually watching other RUclipsrs build a video they take forever and just blame it on waiting for Parts. You the man.
At 72 and just became a disabled Vet which pisses me off. I can't get in and out of my Carrera anymore without help. And that REALLY pisses me off.. . So, I'm looking for a Macan. I think that would work.. BTW, outstanding video. You guys nailed that one.
As an older guy that moved from a sports car to a Macan GTS - I think you're making a good choice. Its easy to get in and out of, 'comfort' mode its relatively quiet and sedate around town, but throw it in sport when the mood hits and its like an oversized sports car. Its for sure heavier and higher up, but it corners well and sounds great with the exhaust open.
Good video content and excellent representation of how & what is involved in trying to give something crashed new life again as a DD and not a project vehicle. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was a cool rebuild because you didn't have the parts on the shelf like you said and it showed what it would be like if anyone did the rebuild themselves. Cool little SUV never knew anything about them other than I see them on the street.
I really enjoy watching you put cars together. And once in a while taking stuff apart. I don't know if there's such a thing as being in the green when it comes to Porsche or any other German vehicle. Nice job putting that Porsche together. I wish I could do what you guys do everyday.
Acc/ Pas fault is the front camera in the front grille needing a calibration and alignment at a dealership, could probably clear the airbag light with a new battery or have them clear it at the dealer while you’re there
I purchased the same car with the similar front damage. I went through exactly the same issues. So many parts and they delayed me 1 to 2 weeks every time I learned I needed more stuff. If I had everything I would’ve been done in a weekend, but it took 2 months
There are a couple drift cars out there that use a first gen 02-07 Porsche Cayenne 4.5 liter v8 with a pair of twin turbos (roughly 600-650 hp). Swapping it into a Caymen GT4 to make a discount Carrera GT or an older 993 (or the 996) Carrera might make for a cool project.
Hi Lee! great work on the Macan. I'm actually in the process of repairing a Macan myself and I'd like to ask you how did you find the front end frame section that you replaced. I've looked everywhere for it and I can't find it. I'll appreciate your help.
I thought I was the only one with the dilemma of tesla 3 over macan. There are so many pros to each in my opinion.. tesla 3 full self driving, electricity, cheap, low maintenance....... macan turbo... sounds cool, handles great, fairly quick, fun?

Nice rebuild but you have 1 more part to buy. You've fitted the grille for a GTS that's not optioned with the ACC front radar. The radar should be unobstructed but you have the wrong grille on it and its obstructed. Do you have a message on the dash saying something like 'Radar blocked' ect ?

As a 2018 macan S owner that has done all of what you said, I fully support this statement.
What's the best sounding exhaust for these? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on either a macan or an x3m40i
