Planet tech is probably the one thing CIG hasn't missed the mark with really... Its only improving, constantly. The issue comes when we tweak things by putting POIs in, where the meshes collide, and we sometimes fall through the planets.
One of the applications I am hoping they are considering is that this tech would be incredible for creating random disposal worlds for a temporary jump tunnel to a random space. In a way, this could be a reasonable way to make "instance" content. Example would be a resource rush where resource gathering players can rush in harvest special or rare materials and then have to get out before the tunnel collapses. For FPS players you might have a small space that a hostile alien force stream out from and have a raidable area on the other side for chase items.
With base building and density will we be able to clear put paths to make roads? Then we can use the smaller ground vehicles to go from buildijg to building on our based which would be awesome
For items of interest every 40 seconds/ 100 ft they have the added challenge of game play loops. You might have an item like a mining cluster but if I am not mining its not a point of interest. I wonder if it will be more this area is focused on this game loop or if they will have it spread out.
After CitCon I still have the Feeling that CIG is still struggeling with priorities and the right focus. Without that they wohnt bei ablento keep the company running at its current state
I think CIG is on the right path with this type of technology and how it scales up to create a much larger and more interesting universe to explore.

I hope they can pull all of this off. It seems a little too ambitious; however, I am rooting for them.
With that many points of interest, we may actually have a chance of avoiding players.
