I honestly didn't know the clouds were stationary until I saw this at citizencon lol. It's going to be amazing to have even more beautiful clouds and weather!
Sounds great, as long as they actually put landing zone markers over where you want to land (e.g., the spaceport). Volumetric clouds around a18 and loreville are a little annoying at present.
If they make age a stat that effects your character, they definitely need to add the classic old person predicting the weather with their achy joints/bones.
Weather will be very important. When i play dcs, it can block you doing your mission. Or you have very specific procedures to fly is those hard conditions.
Lightning shouldn't really affect ships. Normal planes are struck by lightning regularly and our spaceships have shields that stop energy weapons. At best, lightning should have a chance to cripple systems like a distortion weapon. Obviously, personal opinion.
You're talking about earth lightning not lightning from a different planet. We have no idea how powerful a different planet's lightning would be. Also remember it took down an aurora which isn't a very well shielded or well-armored ship at all.
@@billionaireninjas So your argument is that a several centuries more advanced, shielded and armored space faring vehicle is more vulnerable to a weather phenomenon (that is survivable for an unarmored and unshielded human) than a modern commercial jet? I also did a quick search, and the last reported downing of a plane by lightning was in 1967 while lightning strikes average once for roughly every 1000 hours of operation or 1 per year. As for the power of the lightning you can double the voltage and changes nothing, and I didn't see anything that would affect amperage or reduce/stop flashover. The reason I recommended a distortion effect is that if the lightning arced thru an essential system, it could fry or even overload it. The only reason I am being picky is CIG tends to do too much rule of cool and not enough fundamentals.
Yea I think they are getting a little ambitious to say the least. To go this far while still having issue with simple things like elevators, spawning and many others.
Weather and clouds will be a great improvement and absolutely immersive 🎉
Having weather systems develop in front of us is so awesome and will change how we approach landings/points of intrests.
Thanks for the video!
I am so excited for the weather to be so indepth and be a concern when flying. I will probably complain about it but love it.

Full weather simulation is ambitious, to say the least.
And idk if it something anyone cares about
Lighting will make for some great sceeen shots

Niiiicccceeee!
I hope they do away with the aging and inheritance thing.
This game isn't a rogue like
Real storms would be so immersive

I agree fully

I want a flight helmet so i can see the landing zones through the clouds.
Bit mixed on weather being added as a factor for gameplay considerations
i hope cig will give us the option to preorder the sq42
All of this sounds very resource heavy, might have to abstain from new ships for a while to upgrade the PC
Cool idea, but not being able to take off due to weather in a video game is just annoying to me 😂

They going to include flash floods, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and propagating forest fires to these weather effects one day???
Another Idea to be scrapped by reality
Even more reasons to never go to planets! Yay!
Will it make my arthritis act up for cold weather? just kidding
We might all have arthritis by the time this releases
Will be awsome tho
