About "Are you really okay". I think this track is absolute masterpiece and deserves more recognition. This is an actuall ballad on a heavy album, something that is so rare these days. This is the first time that modern metal has fused well with multiple other genres in a long time and not sound corny as hell. Incredible album for music. Not just metal

@Hami07 From a search on just this album, it appears to be getting very polerised reviews. Sitting at 2.82/5 on RYM, 3.3/5 on Sputnik. The album doesn't appear to be converting people to their music any better than their last albums. Plus Loathe was getting more buzz for a similar sound.
So, I went and gave this entire album a listen. Never heard of them before. Oh My God. I wasn't really sure what to expect. The clips in this video don't do them justice. You can explain this band to someone, but you have to listen to understand what they really are. This is the most interesting band I've discovered in a really long time. Thanks for putting them out there. Other than saying I love the music and they are incredible I really don't know what else to say. I'm completely blown away, and I'd guess this is many peoples response to hearing them for the first time. Really really love "Are you really ok?". There are other songs that are musically more interesting on that album, but that one really resonated with me.
As someone who has been going through tough times lately, Are You Really Okay has been my favourite track of the album. I really, really loved the album a lot. They really outdid themselves with this album. One thing I would say is that they should’ve kept Vore, Aqua Regia, and Chokehold to be released with the album, and not earlier, as they released like half of the album before the release date…
@@paraweld9838 Sundowning was released one song at a time, each precisely 2 weeks apart. It was kind of a gimmick for that album, they weren't what you would call "singles".
I have to agree apparition and maybe chokehold are my 2 favorites. They are the perfect blends of what they were experimenting with but the core of the songs being on different sides of the spectrums really fun album to listen too and hopefully they only get better from here
It’s got so much jazz and blues in it. And the vocals are phenomenal using a bass voice that transitions to falsetto effortlessly. Transitioning from chest to hear voice it’s just is flawless.
Take Me Back To Eden was my first full exposure to Sleep Token in terms of albums, and I was not disappointed. I've listened to the album multiple times since release, and it's been such a beautiful experience since first listen. My first actual exposure to ST was the Chokehold single, and I really think it was the best band exposure I've ever experienced in my life so far, and I'm looking forward to future Sleep Token projects while looking back to their previous releases, especially their last two in the trilogy. Also, Nik, I love your shit, dude, funny af.
Ive said this a thousand times and I'll say it again, a 11/10 album for me. I haven't experienced a musical journey like I have with this album. I can't say I've ever heard a band blend generes like this in a song let alone an album as flawlessly like this. The emotions and story telling is insane. I love EVERY song on this album, and Are You Really Ok? just destroys me. TMBTE floored me, Euclid made me emotional, introspective and hopeful truly giving a new perspective on their whole sonic journey. I could go on and on. I truly found it ground breaking and I feel will set the tone for metal core in the future. It reminded me of when I heard the green day American idiot album for the first time, never heard 7 or 8 min songs that were ballads that was so pivotal in the rock scene.
I'll never forget how earth shattering it was hearing "Jimmy died today, he blew his brains out into the bay" for the first time. I get chills just thinking about that moment.
I gotta say Periphery IV and Periphery V are amazing albums as well. More on the Djent side though but they have piano/orchestral/lots of EDM elements as well.
Been listening to Sleep Token for a few years right now, when they weren't even in half as popular as they are now. And I loved them so much. Now, they became so popular and I reeeally don't wanna be that guy, but sometimes I miss the time when they were "my own little secret". Now if you say you listen to Sleep Token it doesn't impress anyone cause everyone knows them. And of course it's nothing bad with this, I'm really happy they get the recognition they deserved and will continue to support them in the future. But Sleep Token are a special band, covered with mistery and some kind of sanctum around their lore and personalities, and I'm just worried that the new massive fandom will destroy it. Because people like to uncover everything. Let's all hope the band won't lose anything due to these reasons and keep being as awesome as they always were ❤
AOTY easy. I am absolutely obsessed with this album right now, as well as this band. I knew I was going to love this album when it finally got released based on the singles, but I did not expect it to become one of my favorite albums ever, period. Every single track is great. Dissecting the entire tracklist has only grown my affection towards it more and more and more. The production is immaculate, the vocals are delivered with such emotive intent, the R&B sections are silky smooth, the metalcore breakdowns are spine-crushing and face-melting, the softer parts are gorgeous, and the lyrics... my God, I can't even pick which ones are my favorites, they're all so poetic. There is a deeper, darker theme to this album that I don't want to speculate too much on, but to say they've outdone the rest of their material so far is an understatement. I adore this record. It is the sexiest thing I have heard in a while. My favorite tracks, if I had to narrow it down, are The Summoning, Ascensionism, Take Me Back to Eden, and Granite. Worship.
I can’t remember where I saw it, but I remember reading somewhere about either George Lever or Vessel saying that sleep token was going to take place in chapters. This is the closure of the first trinity in my opinion. If you look at it as well, it’s the story of a relationship; the ending of Euclid looping back into the beginning of TNDNBTG shows how a relationship cycle starts unto itself again. Idk, just my thoughts about the lore!!
It's so interesting seeing everyone's different takes on the record and seeing everyone connecting to the songs in different ways. The Apparition is definitely one of the less memorable ones for me personally, but I've seen so many people have it as their favourite track. I respect it. My favourites are Ascensionism and Euclid.
Been a fan of ST since the Sundowning era of 2019. I got to say, I think this is their most consistent and highest quality work to date. I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but coming from someone who listens to a variety of metal sub genres, it genuinely feels like they’re pushing the metal genre forward into the 2020s.
I'm always happy to see Nik show ST some love. I was actually a bit surprised to hear what tracks were his favorites. In any case, the album is a beautiful masterpiece, I'm very proud of the boys
I find it funny that Sleep Token were announced at the bottom of the lineup at a festival in my country back when they had 300k monthly listeners and now they are up there with the headliners on posters.
The back end of the album had me fully hooked in this. The singles were great but everything from ascensionism onwards is an absolute masterclass in song writing. Album of the year for me. Euclid and the title track are my favourites
I was moving out of my dorm for the summer the day the album dropped so I listened to the whole thing on my drive home (about two and a half hours so I had plenty of time). About a quarter of the way through Are You Really Okay I broke down crying. It's such a simple song but so gut wrenching when it hits close to home, and it did for me. The whole album was emotional and I'm glad to have listened to it. Rain is probably one of my favorites rn from the album songs, followed by Vore and The Summoning from the singles. Ascensionism and TMBTE are both so good too when I got time to listen to them full.
I love your analysis of the album overall and the commentary on the potential impact it’s going to have regarding genre fusion and possibly bridging the gaps between the endless subdivisions of metal music. It’s absolutely insane and brilliant that it’s essentially all being done in anonymity with the Stranger Things meets American Horror Story/Slipknot hybrid of the identity of Vessel and the band. Absolutely got Led Zepp vibes from Are You Really Okay? Spot on.
The ending of ascensionism just throws me for a loop, y'know the nice piano melodies and then some nice lil guitar riffs and then some ole YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEEEEAAAAARRRRRRR, NOOOO
Man you said it so well. Sleep Token don't seem to give a shit about what genre they're placed into, they just make music that sounds good, clearly pulling inspiration from anything that they enjoy. I absolutely fucking love when bands like this come along and go "hey you know that rule book you have that says what you have to do to fit into a certain genre? Yeah, we're burning it." - and I think their anonymity also helps because you don't see any ego or "look how smart I am I made fancy progressive music" that sometimes turns people off to this weird genre bending stuff, all we can focus on is the music itself because we don't know who they are or how they think, it's a complete mystery, and that somehow makes it more exciting.
Worship. Ascenionism atm one of my fave Sleep Token song from their entire discography, surprised Nik swiped over it so quick. My opinion might chance with repeat on repeat on repeat playthtoughs of the album. WORSHIP.
I only heard like a small bit of The Summoning on one of your tik tok ylyl vids and looked for it and I love...sleep token so much. Thank you for introducing me to this band. I love them so much ❤❤
As someone who listens to a lot of different genres to me some of the songs on this album are just sheer perfection. The mix is just perfect. More than that the lyrics and the way it all flows together just makes you feel something, that is what music should be all about.
Some times I start to wonder if the word "metal" lost its meaning somewhere, and people began to use it to call whatever they want with some guitar riffs 😅
The best way I can describe the album is a love letter to the band and their fans with references of past work, and also a great introduction album for new worshipers
I’ve never had more of an epiphany listening to an album… I went in having only listened to the summoning so expecting a metal album and getting a plethora of genres (some of which being completely opposite) was very surprising and a very awesome experience
Long tracks are great if they remain interesting, agreed. Honestly I feel like it's good for your attention span. The duration of songs today are so short usually. I get it though, the marketing and everything. Which makes me happy that Sleep Token are coming in strong with these long boy tracks. It's refreshing.
2:54 - Man, I get what you're saying about the musicality, but honestly "Are You Really Okay" is probably my favorite track because of the subject matter and how well the lyrics deal with it. I've been on both sides of depression and SI/SH, and man, this track floors me every time with how well it captures feelings of helplessness, frustration and worry for someone but also hope that they can pull through. I feel like it's intentionally "less innovative" so the message in the music can have the spotlight.
I tried to describe to my mother what this band is like. The best thing I could come up with is “theatrical metal” It’s very much like a movie, with slower parts blended with action and everything in between. All of the elements building towards a consistent theme.
Love this review of the album from you Nik! This is something I think you should do much more it’s entertaining hearing your opinion while keeping your humor in it, diving into each song but also keeping it a review that’s not super stretched out. Looking forward to more album reviews from you. WORSHIP 🤘

I wasn't sure about sleep token but now I can't get enough of them. This band is very unique and the haunting sounds they put out I am completely obsessed with the music right now
Sleep Token is taking over this year, my Friend was telling me her husband tried to get tickets to their show a week after they went on sale and it was sold out which is nuts. It's interesting to see what different songs everyone thinks is the best because 'Are You Okay?' is tied with Chokehold as my favorite it completely broke me and was just what I needed at the time, and I did love the Classic Rock vibe and to be honest gave me Better Man by Pearl Jam vibes with the instrumentals.
Ascensionism is the greatest mold of sounds and emotions in their history, even more so than Jaws etc. Vessel and the guys are glorious geniuses. Then Take Me Back to Eden is a modern day masterpiece. History in the making regarding the movement of music and how artists develop songs henceforth.
this is a god tier album - i thought that it wouldnt beat to the grave's director's cuts but holy shit i literally ascended listening to rain, the apparition, ascension and take me back to eden. I think that Euclid is a perfect ending track - it has that sick ass 8 string breakdown with the cleans and it just defines sleep token as a whole.

I'd agree but they did this with Sundowning as well, seems to be their thing
I disagree with the last point. The world is evolving into a single focused place. Be glad that bands still do 12 song albums
@@paraweld9838
Sundowning was released one song at a time, each precisely 2 weeks apart.
@@ThatOGOne great call back
I gotta say Periphery IV and Periphery V are amazing albums as well. More on the Djent side though but they have piano/orchestral/lots of EDM elements as well.
It is my album of the year so far. Euclid gets me in the feels every time I listen to it
Been listening to Sleep Token for a few years right now, when they weren't even in half as popular as they are now.
Worship.
More of this please Nik. Thoroughly enjoyed this
I can’t remember where I saw it, but I remember reading somewhere about either George Lever or Vessel saying that sleep token was going to take place in chapters. This is the closure of the first trinity in my opinion. If you look at it as well, it’s the story of a relationship; the ending of Euclid looping back into the beginning of TNDNBTG shows how a relationship cycle starts unto itself again. Idk, just my thoughts about the lore!!
I feel like every sleep token album just instantly becomes my new favorite album as soon as I hear them
I absolutely love Euclid and it’s connection back to Sundowning!
I can’t believe how much I love this album. My favourite of the record seems to change with every listen. Unreal.
"Are You Really Okay" made me teary eyed in a way no song has since Snuff by Slipknot.
The album to end all genres. The album of the albums. Best music ive ever heard in my life!!
Spot on.
My favorite is definetly Ascensionism, but the rest of the album is also absolutely great
The ending of ascensionism just throws me for a loop, y'know the nice piano melodies and then some nice lil guitar riffs and then some ole YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEEEEAAAAARRRRRRR, NOOOO
This album made me feel every emotion
Euclid is my favorite off the whole album. It's going to help me through some dark times that's for sure.
Glad someone else appreciates The Apparition as much as I do! Definitely my favorite on the album, but people haven’t been giving it it’s due!
This is one of the best album reviews I have ever heard. Or read. Thank you, Nik.
Every time I see long songs from an artist I love I get very happy because I hear them for longer
Worship.
Ascenionism atm one of my fave Sleep Token song from their entire discography, surprised Nik swiped over it so quick.
My opinion might chance with repeat on repeat on repeat playthtoughs of the album.
WORSHIP.
Totally agree, WORSHIP
Ascensionism is probably just my all-time favorite song from Sleep Token. Every single vibe hits me so fucking different.
Ascensionism definitely stands out a lot too. Especially at the end of that hugeee melodic chorus. Haven't heard stuff like that since Loathe 2020
I only heard like a small bit of The Summoning on one of your tik tok ylyl vids and looked for it and I love...sleep token so much. Thank you for introducing me to this band. I love them so much ❤❤
got tickets for September in Dallas. Gonna be awesome.
As someone who listens to a lot of different genres to me some of the songs on this album are just sheer perfection. The mix is just perfect.
More than that the lyrics and the way it all flows together just makes you feel something, that is what music should be all about.
Some times I start to wonder if the word "metal" lost its meaning somewhere, and people began to use it to call whatever they want with some guitar riffs 😅
so I felt the same way about are you really okay? but the lyrics 😮💨😮💨😮💨 they've made me cry several times now
The singles definitely didn’t prepare me for Vessel with the flow and spitting some bars
Yeah that was unexpected lit ! My eyes almost fell out when I heard that😮😂
Ive been listening to this album for 2 straight days, nothing else. just this album on replay..
I have a special place in my heart for "This place will..." as an album, but I really enjoyed this new album.
Beautifully put at that last bit there Nik.
Worship. 🤘🙏❤️
Long tracks are great if they remain interesting, agreed. Honestly I feel like it's good for your attention span. The duration of songs today are so short usually. I get it though, the marketing and everything. Which makes me happy that Sleep Token are coming in strong with these long boy tracks. It's refreshing.
Apparition was by far my favorite track, and funny enough, my fiancé’ and I agreed to make Rain our first dance song
TMBTE is the final song on the album, Euclid is the epilogue that bridges this album and sundowning
Agreed, Euclid ends by morphing into Night, the opener of sundowning, basically looping the 3 albums, its kinda cool
Dude I’m glad you have the apparition the love it deserves!! It bangs!! My absolute fav
Amazing review. basically no spoiler and a seriously useful consideration at the end.
Please, Nik, fix the reflection/echo/reverbs in that room.
Best,
2:54 - Man, I get what you're saying about the musicality, but honestly "Are You Really Okay" is probably my favorite track because of the subject matter and how well the lyrics deal with it.
The best thing I could come up with is “theatrical metal”
It’s very much like a movie, with slower parts blended with action and everything in between. All of the elements building towards a consistent theme.
Agreed. It delivers what it promised through the singles. Pop metal r&b piano djent 90’s alt music.
Love this review of the album from you Nik! This is something I think you should do much more it’s entertaining hearing your opinion while keeping your humor in it, diving into each song but also keeping it a review that’s not super stretched out. Looking forward to more album reviews from you. WORSHIP 🤘
The title track closes out the album. “Euclid” closes out the trilogy.
Honestly all tracks absolutely BANG. Apparition goes so hard
I don't know why but The Apparition reminds me of Virgil's theme in DMC5 when it hits with that explosion of metal in the music it's awesome.
I live in Germany and working there in an Supermarket. Yesterday i was Like 😱, because they are playing Sleep Token in the Radio, which is especially for the Supermarket.
Rain absolutely blew me away. It makes me wish I was in a band so I could cover it. I'd sing it at karaoke if it ever shows up on lists.
We are Waiting for the full version of How To Sleep Token
Still have the entire album on repeat it's STILL SO GOOD
I wasn't sure about sleep token but now I can't get enough of them.
Euclid is my favourite. What a beautiful song.. hit me right in the feels
Two sleep token songs is basically a full disturbed album length lol
I saw them live around 4 years ago, became a fan and honestly im so proud at how far they've come and that they've become popular
The summoning just speaks to me its my fav sleep token song
Ascensionism is sooooo gooood the rap honsestly slaps same with the apparition i loved every minute of this entire album
this is a god tier album - i thought that it wouldnt beat to the grave's director's cuts but holy shit i literally ascended listening to rain, the apparition, ascension and take me back to eden. I think that Euclid is a perfect ending track - it has that sick ass 8 string breakdown with the cleans and it just defines sleep token as a whole.
