He had the exact same reaction I did the first time I heard this song. If you’ve ever been in a heartbreak situation, you relate sooooo deeply to the pain this induces and then when the album ends with Euclid you know you made through the most toxic and terrible shit ever but you still made it. You’re okay and it does get better and you grow from it. Beautiful band and amazing music doesn’t even begin to explain it.

Also as someone who has loved Tool for years and considered them possibly my favorite at one point but was hesitant to pick a favorite, I’ve had the privilege of being a ST fan longer than a lot of people. Roughly 3 years. But as soon as like The Summoning dropped it became clear to me that Sleep Token is my favorite band of all time. No second guessing required. Especially since they felt so personal to me having been stanning them from Sundowning when it felt like no one was listening to me when I said yo these guys are something truly special. Seeing everything that happened with their rise to fame last year made me so proud.
I discovered this band via RUclips recommendation with this song and ever since, something inside me has been wanting out; I feel it desperately clawing my insides; it's amazing. I'm hooked on this band. [Worship.]
My favorite thing in life is sharing someone's first experience with a ST song, no one is ever prepared and the reactions are always true. Thanks so much for letting us in on this. WORSHIP
I'm a huge audiophile and seeing how Kyle reacts touches my heart because I was the exact same way when I first heard this. It has such a strong message and it is such a beautifully composed song. This has been my favorite song basically since it first came out. And I love their reactions so much.
The writing in this song is incredible. "We dive through crystal waters, perfect oceans, but no one told me not to breathe. And all the weightlessness recedes" Might be one of my favorite lyrics of all time. It makes me think of an unprepared child growing into adulthood. "I'm a waking hell and the Gods grow tired." Is a phenomenal way to say what he's saying as well.
Another thing I do very much like with the first bit of lyrics you mentioned is how when you're swimming, if you have air in your lungs, you will naturally float, but if not, you sink. So, with him "breathing" in the water, that "wightlessness recedes" is from the water filling the lungs, and losing that natural easy floating
i swear its like poetry and music in one. the picture he paints is like looking at a picture and then letting it tell a story its like a journey. its honestly been a wild ride through out this whole album
Remember that other than the drummer, this band is one person. Vessel writes all the music and lyrics, plays guitar/bass/keyboard/etc, sings, and helps produce. His drummer is "ii", who is incredible and does some drum playthroughs of their songs on youtube which are super fun to watch as well.
@@angelamiller2577 yes and no. Vessel and ii were the only permanent members for most of the bands history. I’m not 100% sure if the others have been made permanent members, if they have it’s only been recently.
Yeah to follow up on these other comments - iii and iv play with them when they're doing live shows but I don't believe they're significant in the songwriting and recording process. If they are getting integrated into that now, that's awesome - but traditionally they have been support members for touring only.
@Charlei13 They use a background track for synth bass on certain songs, but iii definitely plays bass live on a lot of it. He's very charismatic but he is actually playing as well.
I was crying watching you try not to cry Kyle. It’s been so long since music has moved me that way too lol. This band and this song specifically are an untouchable masterpiece.
Man you can see the moment whenever these guys click with Kyle. Ngl I got misty-eyed whenever I heard this song too! I was kind of in that same boat of not really quite connecting with ST's music. But this song freaking did it for me. It's a MASTERPIECE.
The apparition made me cry the first time I listened to it. Made relive losing my fiancé, and how all I have is memory and dreams to see him. So beautiful
I discovered this by change, & I felt like someone taken me to another place, so brilliant, I am a Pink Floyd& Led Zeppelin fan for more than 50 yrs& I would not have believed a band of today would get me, Sleep Token has ❤
Same. I have been a die hard Genesis fan four 40 years. This band has filled a void for new beautiful emotional music. God knows the top 40 crap out there can't do it. Love this band and am looking forward to experiencing more from them. ❤
This is my favorite song by them so far!! It took them awhile to click for me too, Eric! But once they did I was obsessed. We all have different tastes and they’re such a unique band it took me a bit to digest them. But this album is a masterpiece imo! Can’t wait to see more from ya’ll! If nothing else, their music is an emotional and heartfelt journey.
@@Rykerroad that’s totally fair. I first heard them when they released their second album and I was new to the metal genre and didn’t really understand them. They didn’t hit right for me either. But after I heard The Summoning it clicked and I was like ohhhhh okay I’m here for this. And now they’re probably my favorite band. 😂 how music hits you differently at different times is wild.
This band has SO MANY subtle references throughout their music. One example is "i don't know what's got it's teeth in me...". That lyrical idea is in several songs on all their albums like "when the mouth of infinity buries it's teeth in me" from High Water. Another one is "...i will still avoid my own questions" and "... pull myself beneath the waves" in High Water come back in DYWTYLM with the whole theme and "or do you duck into deep blue Safety"
Sleep Token has me in a chokehold (pun intended) with their lyricism, and especially with the way they arrange their music. I had listened to Take Me Back to Eden a thousand times before I noticed Vessel takes a gasp of breath after “but no one told me not to breathe”
I found Sleep Token through this album and from my own experience Vessels voice is something you get used to over time. I couldn't see anyone else in his place now.
Watching you guys fall in love with this song like I did was so awesome. 🥰 Kyle looks like he's gonna cry, likes he's never heard anything so glorious! I'm with you, dude. Sleep Token is insane!
Something you guys might not have noticed is that in every song sleep token puts out, the further in the song you get the fuller the sound is. So every time you get a hook it will sound bigger.
I have rewatched all your Sleep Token videos so many times-it’s like watching my fave comfort show. But this one is my favorite one by far because I can tell it’s where you fell in love with their music. Watching Kyle go on an emotional journey reminds me why I feel so deeply connected to music. I get chills every time. I’m just so grateful you guys discovered this band so that I could as well. Thanks for sharing dope music with us all.🤘
Seeing Kyle really be touched by the emotion in this piece really resonated with me. Please review Euclid. This whole album is probably one of my favorites of all time, not just because of the cool genre bending gimmicks but because of the raw and earnest emotional moments in the record.
This song is so beautiful! It is an emotional rollercoaster for sure. It starts out so chill, then makes me sad, and the end when he screams "take me back to Eden!" I feel so angry. It is amazing how much they can make you feel in one song. The callbacks to Chokehold in it is awesome too!
I really appreciate y'alls reaction. The whole time I was giggling just waiting for the last 30secs and how it punches you in the face. The lyrics for this band are really important to understanding the whole story/concept. They do a lot of callbacks to other songs on this album and older material. So far I've found two/three intertwining stories. The comparison to TOOL I think is very spot on and reflects people's reactions to this band, like you either love them or you hate them. I for one am obsessed. Worship.
I've always said Sleep Token is "post-metal". They experiment with different sounds and textures and ideas while being based in traditional metal elements. They have such a broad sound, I think this is the best way to describe them if you absolutely had to give them a genre
This is the impact of Sleep Token. It may now be every song when it happens, but there’s at least one in the catalog that’ll hit even the hardest among us. Lyrically, there’s none better and I’ll stand by that. Vessel is a master of metaphor. Here’s an example from another song: “Seems your heart is locked up and I still get the combination wrong.” Perfection. Guys, “Ascensionism” is the track for you. For me, that and “Take Me Back to Eden” are on the same level. A total experience. Worship.
I really love that you guys went all in on the lyric analysis. This band moves me like no other band/artist ever have...everything they do is beautiful in different ways. Its so refreshing
listening to the song like this one, makes me cry, cause to understand the lyrics i need to look at them with a help from translator. The song is incredibly fascinating btw
It is such an absolute emotional rollercoaster of a song. The lyrics are genius poetry and then it gives you about a thousand genres in one song. Song doesn't even feel like the right word....piece of music is more apt. I love immersing myself in this.
I’ve watched this video and this was the video that I felt exactly like Kyle. I fell so in love with them from this song and wanted to dive so deep into Sleep Token after hearing and reacting to this. Love watching all your videos!!
This is the perfect song from them imo. They take all of the styles they do throughout the album and put them into one song with each separated by the chorus that is super strong and gets more intense every time it comes in. Beautiful 🤌🏼
I just discovered them within the last couple months and when I found them I was floored and thought “this is what it sounds like in the hallways of my soul.” Sleep Token is a whole experience and so so special.
Ascensionism is definitely the next song you guys should react to. It has a lot of similarities to this song but it's definitely different enough to be its own masterpiece.
I promise you won't regret diving into this band further. I second all the suggestions for Ascensionism. Also, Dark Signs from their first album, Sundowning, also has some of the hip hop sounds to it. Did you pick up on "it was no accident" (callback to Chokehold) during the end when it was building to that final breakdown?
I love Will Ramos and his Sleep Token cover, but to say he did Sleep Token better than Vessel is a ridiculous take, in my opinion of course. Love your guys reactions but that is a nuts take for me to wrap my head around, I also discovered Sleep Token around the time Will did his cover, so I'm not a longtime fan. I liked Wills cover, but the moment I heard the original I could never hear Wills cover the same. Not hating in yall, that take is just genuinely crazy to me, to each his own, though.
I'm the exact same as you guys, I originally heard Will's covers of Hypnosis and Chokehold and I wasnt a fan of the originals at all, but then I heard The Summoning which hooked me instantly, I went back and listened to those couple of songs afterwards and now I'm obsessed with their whole discography 😂 but I highly recommend Ascensionism, I feel like you'd both appreciate that one in particular!
Take me back to Eden, what Eden is described as, mixed with the other lines is what causes me to grab "Take me back to when I was happy" Or something along those lines. Its beautiful
Vessel is definitely an amazing lyricist. I'm sure on a second-listen you probably caught "When we were made, It was no accident, We were tangled up like branches in a flood," lyrics from Chokehold, were woven into TMBTE at the end ... beautiful!
I fucking love this band and I still sometimes need to hear a song of theirs a second or third time to hit home. It's entirely possible that you will get more in tune with what Sleep Token are doing in songs you've already heard on coming back to them. Incredibly special band. If you want to hear another song of theirs that taps into some of the same feeling, for Kyle especially, I highly recommend checking out High Water. The emotional impact that song has is unbelievable, and it's not received nearly enough attention so far
I agree with Eric that they just didn’t hit that spot in my brain but after a few days I came back and now I’m hooked. It’s well worth looking into their story. Vessel being visited by the deity sleep and the songs are worship from vessel to Sleep
I've been on the Fence, I've heard this rack Thrice, and I already was hooked on Chokehold. This redaction made me listen Deeper, and I'm a Rich Miner. Golden Thanks.
This is the best reaction to any sleep token song that Iv seen (and that's a lot) watching the dude literally fall in love with a band that's brought me so much over the past 4 years. Iv had every reaction he has on his face in this 1 video - subbed 🤙🏼
Great reaction. NO ONE can touch his lyricism. Ascensionism next-it’s the best of the best Also, think you missed the reprisal of Chokehold at the end, right before the djent outro
Oddly, i ( Eric) didn't notice it until i watched another reaction channel right after 🤦♂️ he blended it so well you can miss it if you don't pay attention.
@@Rykerroad its soooo good. I find myself going back to that specific part of the song. I wish they wouldve used that specific verison of how he was singing it
I WISH I could listen to the album for the first time again. It's so magical and the closest we can come to reliving it is seeing others experience it for the first time so thank you for the video and the reactions!! Kyle was definitely me lol
This was the first time I've ever listened to Take me Back To Eden and it just shot shivers down my spine; it's beautiful and amazing; they really know what they were doing.
I've been dissecting this song and I'm like 2 pages in and I've gotten through maybe 3-4 lines. To be fair I'm long winded but Jesus it's a lot. They tie a lot of lore back to old English folklore
I feel like those parts where the lyric is no amount of love will keep it around etc is so brilliant because it puts the listener into their own head about the song. Its so subjective in the subject because everybody will transport to a different memory or attach a specific feeling to them to this song. Its superb song writing and one of the best bodies of work sleeptoken has done
I've never cried so much and related to an album so much till I listened to this sleep token. There last album was pretty good but this one, skyrocketed as my top favorite of the year...it's unlike anything I've ever heard. They are also great live band too 😁

And the way he sings it is just so beautiful and so well done. If anyone else was singing that line, I wouldn't like it nearly as much

"the line before, "my, my, those eyes like fire", like a moth to the flame, those eyes will kill me
While also saying, "Everything you embody is death, but I'm so drawn to you". Vessel's lyrics play on so many levels it's awesome!

For more lyricism with a cinematic journey, definitely try Ascensionism from the same album
Entire Trilogy reaction ??? Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, Take Me Back To Eden 🙌🏼
There are four members of the band from what I've seen.
@@angelamiller2577 yes and no. Vessel and ii were the only permanent members for most of the bands history. I’m not 100% sure if the others have been made permanent members, if they have it’s only been recently.
@@House3DPrints I believe they are a 4 member band now since they all have their own social media accounts
Go to 11:59 and listen, it says in the back, "it was no accident." From chokehold.
Kyle gets real serious when sleep token is on. Love it.
The apparition made me cry the first time I listened to it. Made relive losing my fiancé, and how all I have is memory and dreams to see him. So beautiful
Same🥲
I discovered this by change, & I felt like someone taken me to another place, so brilliant, I am a Pink Floyd& Led Zeppelin fan for more than 50 yrs& I would not have believed a band of today would get me, Sleep Token has ❤
I am definitely getting into them more. SOME of his songs don't hit right for me (at first) but he's an amazing vocalist and I can't deny talent.
A lot of British singers sound like him. Like James Arthur
Volume automations
This is pretty standard for building tension lol, TONS of bands do it!
I’ve always thought of them being euphoric metal. Every song evokes so much emotion, from the highs to the lows, it’s a euphoric experience.
Worship.
hell yeah, my favorite reaction channel, do the album brooooosssss
The whole album is a masterpiece. Ascensionism is a must! Worship
These guys remind me of Deftones. Like a new age Deftones in the best way possible.
YES! More of these guys please! This will be a journey you won’t forget!
I really love that you guys went all in on the lyric analysis. This band moves me like no other band/artist ever have...everything they do is beautiful in different ways. Its so refreshing
Omg!! Thanks for reacting to Sleep Token. One of the best bands ever!!
listening to the song like this one, makes me cry, cause to understand the lyrics i need to look at them with a help from translator.
'No one told me not to Breathe' fuck that got me.
I just discovered them within the last couple months and when I found them I was floored and thought “this is what it sounds like in the hallways of my soul.” Sleep Token is a whole experience and so so special.
I'm just here reliving this journey for the 3rd time
Ascensionism is definitely the next song you guys should react to. It has a lot of similarities to this song but it's definitely different enough to be its own masterpiece.
I keep getting these chills when listening to sleep token. It’s like one constant chill that doesn’t end but for different reasons.
The sad fact I only really watch your NF reactions but gave this a shot...and boy did this not disappoint me. Now gonna have to dive into them. 😅
Boy oh boy, Sleep Token are something else. You're in for a ride
I think Will would probably agree, he loves Vessel lol
Haha I loved seeing your reactions! Welcome to the club is all I can say!
I'm the exact same as you guys, I originally heard Will's covers of Hypnosis and Chokehold and I wasnt a fan of the originals at all, but then I heard The Summoning which hooked me instantly, I went back and listened to those couple of songs afterwards and now I'm obsessed with their whole discography 😂
but I highly recommend Ascensionism, I feel like you'd both appreciate that one in particular!
The lyricism is so beautiful. The simplicity doesn’t work against them, it draws you in further, joining the emotional journey.
I love how they have the lyrics from choke hold “when we were made, I know it was no accident” after the last chorus *chefs kiss*
LOVE your reaction!!! Im a huge Sleep Token fan and this is my fav song by them !! WORSHIP 🖤
This is the best reaction to any sleep token song that Iv seen (and that's a lot) watching the dude literally fall in love with a band that's brought me so much over the past 4 years. Iv had every reaction he has on his face in this 1 video - subbed 🤙🏼
This song, as far as I know, is like an illustration of all the songs on that album. That's why there were similarities and so many different parts.
One of the best songs ever. You can't beat lyrics like that. So much emotions
Found Sleep Token on TikTok! They are now one of my favorite bands!
Great reaction. NO ONE can touch his lyricism. Ascensionism next-it’s the best of the best
Also, think you missed the reprisal of Chokehold at the end, right before the djent outro
Take me back to Eden is gorgeous, that sounds makes me want to cry every time, so beautiful, so perfect.
i wish i could experience listening to sleep token for the first time again
9:44 It gets me every time as well…what an emotional rollercoaster
"No amount of self-sought fury
Will bring back the glory of innocence" and it ends how it ends?
This was the first time I've ever listened to Take me Back To Eden and it just shot shivers down my spine; it's beautiful and amazing; they really know what they were doing.
My daughter introduced this song to me on a cruise we do and shit this hits different!!❤
I've been dissecting this song and I'm like 2 pages in and I've gotten through maybe 3-4 lines. To be fair I'm long winded but Jesus it's a lot. They tie a lot of lore back to old English folklore
These songs had hidden callbacks to other songs too. Like this one says there was no accident which was in chokehold
Nothing beats an emotional metal ballad : sleep token are phenomenal. Bloody hell of a song ! 💥♥️
i love how emotional kyle gets sometimes, i do the same lol
I'm a recent sleep token fan because of this album, I love it.
I love that this is like three different songs in one. It’s a fugging masterpiece
They are also great live band too 😁
The whole album takes us on sad, heartbreaking, beautiful journey. Love seeing them get some love.
