I was 14 when they released Appetite for Destruction in 1987 .. what a great summer, chasing girls, sneaking into nightclubs, cider sessions at the canal and lots of rock and metal. Jesus the hair we had.
In many guitar stores there are signs telling people trying out electric guitars NOT to play the introduction to Sweet Child Of Mine.
The people working in them can't stand hearing it anymore, especially when they play it wrong.

Mo, the crazy good guitarist is Slash. He's really one of the greatest guitarists we have. The singer is Axl Rose, who is a national treasure. GnR was never one of my favorites, but it's still the favorite band of one of my closest friends. I've come to appreciate them more and more each year! This song is a love song, as you thought, and it talks about his love reminding him of both the good and bad things from his childhood.

Man i was sooooo young when these guys started playing. Released June 21, 1988 Recorded 1987 i was 16 years old then .Then when i turned 18 i did 3 years in prison for armed robbery .

Try Patience, Don't Cry, Estranged, Civil War, Paradise City etc for other great songs of theirs. Knockin'on Heaven's Door is a Bob Dylan cover they do and is amazing.

I felt that they were overrated when they first came out. I mean, they were good (Slash is phenomenal, Axl's voice is great), but not as great as what others thought.
