      @Eric Compton Just the last 3? I'd say at least 30 years ago when it was written, and before that as well. Government has always oppressed the people. The USA has more freedom than any other country in the world, and we have so many restrictions on what we can and can't do, arbitrary laws, taxes, etc.

    Such a great song...this, Harvester of Sorrow and Frayed Ends of Sanity are the best songs on an album full of great songs. These are also probably my favorite Metallica songs overall. This is some fantastic and brilliant shit right here.
    They haven’t played this live since 1989, despite years of pleading from the Metallica Family, because it’s just too damn difficult to sing...it’s powerful shit. A lot of us are hoping they’ll play it for us when they play their 40th Anniversary show in the next 18 months or so. Fingers crossed.

      It was an awesome show but i think for first time reactions they should always be done with a lyric video like this one, that way he can actually really listen to the music and read and understand the words. He should then watch this show another time as i agree that it is awesome. If he were to watch the live show first it would take away from the true deep meaning of the song and he will be distarcted by what is going on on stage and would be hard to listen to the song properly and if he were to listen to the lyric video after that, its just not the same as when u hear it for the first time

  • @barrywithers5271
    @barrywithers5271 4 года назад +2

    These lyrics apply evenly to both political parties. The liberals who believe that free speech is what they tell you it is. As well as the conservatives who tell you they embrace freedom of speech, right up until you offend something they care so much about. Both political parties have a warped sense of what freedom of speech means. They both believe that you can say whatever you want as long as it's what they believe you should say. Hence the name of the song Eye Of The Beholder, because it's within each and every individual who decides what they think should be said. None of the political parties understand that their freedom of speech begins and ends at the exact same point as those they disagree with.

    I remember living on the south side of Chicago waiting to enter the Air Force on the delayed entry program. Listened to this album many times before entering BASIC. When I got to my tech school after BASIC this was like the theme album for the entire barracks (at least those of us into metal lol) this and Def Leppard's "Hysteria" album were the two prominent albums of that time. I remember getting my first "Mercyful Fate" album, "Melissa" at that time as well.
    Glad I got out several months later on a Failure To Adapt (an early discharge with honorable status) but I do not regret the experience of being in and being trained.

    This album came out in 1988. This album is rather politically-charged. The title track “And Justice For All” is essentially about how the wealthy can buy justice (or frame injustice) and the working class and the poor are held to the letter of the law and sometimes sentenced to disproportionate times for offenses.

    I don't even need to hear the reaction to send a thumbs up. Love this song and album even though they should have allowed Jason's bass to come through better in the mix.

    Haha, just saw you on scribes live. If you like the lyrics to this, check out the lyric video from my friend's kid's band Villain of the Story for their song Break the Chains

    Isn't is amazing how prophetic actions of Metallica have been??? James and company were in their mid 20's when they did this and they already saw this shit going down. Like the Napster thing??? Lo and behold, albums no longer sell for bands... Metallica gets it, even last week in Hämeenlinna, they had two opening acts in Bokassa and Ghost and they couldn't hold a candle to Metallica... It is just on another level with Metallica.

    The "And Justice for ALL" album was about all about politics. Hence the album cover etc.. etc..

    This album was made by grieving Brothers. 5 stages of grief. And NO BASS ALOUD! Grief stricken Brothers that lost there focal point. Those that understand Metallica before 1987 LIVE or Album wise will understand. MUCH MUCH LOVE for NEWSTEAD AND ROB! LEGENDS OF BASS!!! CLIFF BURTON?!? GOD OF COMMUNICATING AND TEACHING MUSIC to those 3 misfits I love so well
